your commissions for the adventurers' guild tended to be time-consuming. he, of all people, was used to waiting for your arrival back in town. perhaps you'd come back a little bruised but brandishing your weapon with a brilliant smile.

but months pass after this particular commission. no sign of your return seems to be arriving anytime soon and now he must wonder... what will he do when you come home? or should the question be: if you come home?

𝐊𝐚𝐞𝐲𝐚 promises that when you come home he'll be with you every step of the way during your next journey. he waits alone in his office, staring at the vase of lilies at his desk and wondering what you're up to. he shouldn't have let you take that commission. kaeya drags himself to your last known destination just to see a sign of any sort.

𝐙𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢 has accepted he won't know when you come home. he will gladly wait eons for your arrival. he scans the mountains for your presence and sits in your room taking in the last of your existence. he has no regrets in letting you leave despite the warnings. but what can he do but wait as he's always done for you?

𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐜 prepares for when you come home. he knows you may never return but he stands on the patio in front of dawn winery every night. there's a lantern lit for you in case it's dark when you arrive. he can't bare the guilty glances of the maids who believe that your presence will never grace his own ever again. still, he buys you gifts, saves you presents, and gathers flowers.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞 pretends you come home every night. after the months turn into years, he still enters the room expecting your smile. he won't admit to himself you are gone. he wanders the plains and mountaintops that you traveled in search of you. he pretends he doesn't notice when he spots someone with similar features as you in the marketplace. yet, he still speaks as if you are still around. as if you never left home in the first place.

an ask omg!! thank you so much ive always wanted to get one of these HAHA sorry for the really late response as well..

i had a lot of mixed thoughts on hybrid kaeya when i was doing my hybrid!dckz post, i didn't know exactly how to write him like a peacock, alternatives were panther!kaeya and jackal!kaeya, very catboy but i settled on a bird somehow.

to respond to the actual ask, i think kaeya is less so affectionate but more so protective. he likes knowing you're his, and he's yours, but he's not so overbearing or greedy with you. he's felt what it's like to be tied down or restrained, and he loathes the feeling, i feel like he'd be very firm on freedom, your own and his as a partner.

tying that to hybrid!kaeya, as i mentioned, he'd like keeping a part of him with you, as a mark of what is his. a carefully picked feather behind your ear, being his favorite. id imagine he does quite like having you curl up next to him in a little ball, an arm around you his feathers resting on top of you like a blanket. (im unsure of the anatomical flexibility of peacock feathers, but i imagine him to have individual control of each long feather, like limbs) he likes seeing you curled up under his blanket of color, another form of his 'protectiveness'.

he isn't the kind to cuddle with you (unless you were having a bad day of course) but he doesn't mind you snuggling up to him, if that makes any sense? he finds it endearing. he also likes using his feathers for other forms of everyday affection; tucking back your hair, caressing your face, pulling you closer, and especially tickling you with his feathers, another way to tease you.

podcasting undercover

you had been friends with kaeya alberich from as long as you can remember. you've been with him the whole way, cheering him on for tests, games, and auditions, which led him to his idol career with DCKZ. along with that dream of his is to continue your little podcasting for the locals. somehow it made it to the radio, and now you're undercover podcasting. codenames are calla (kaeya) and lily (yourself). despite having a hectic life, kaeya always found a way to make it work for both ends. until a little gremlin called Barbatos came along. he always seems to catch wind of everything... scratch that. 4nemo catches wind of everything, but Barbatos seems to be the one spilling out the secrets of the industry

"oh yeah! i actually forgot it was live, but did you nemos (xiao calls this name stupid. he thinks that their fans shouldnt be called nemos. it sounds like the clownfish.) know that kaeya from dckz has a podcast with his friend? good kush right there"

warnings: i have no idea how podcasting works <3 so they have podcasting and live broadcasting on the radio. so it's mostly local stuff, but they got a small amount of followers. just a few, but because of venti.. well yeah

“No, but really though. At this point, selling my kidneys wouldn’t even pay for rent, much less tuition.”

The other voice on the radio replies in an airy voice, “Haha, really now? You’ve been doing all the maths in that brain of yours.”

“Well, yes and no? Honestly, I’m just drowning in debt.” The voice pauses, “So, to those listening live, or on the recorded podcast, or whatever! Help us out- actually, not Calla. Just me. Help me out, I need to pay for rent and I got mouths to feed.”

“Your children are literally goldfish.”

A gasp was heard from the radio. “Do not treat Goldy and Fishy like that, okay? Your cat knocked over their fish flakes. You technically owe me.”

“Artemis would never.”

“Well she did, and I have proo-”

A loud crash rings on the speaker and the microphone flickers on and off; the sounds are static and quiet, but it still catches on to the noise that enters.

…

You and Kaeya stare at each other then look at the almost broken microphone on the floor. The screen on your laptop shows a few sounds being picked up, only the ones close to it. You both assume the podcast ended. A cat of white fur sat on the table innocently, grooming itself and a lick of its tongue. You give a pointed look at Kaeya as if saying, “See? Your cat is a menace. You shouldn’t even have brought her to the studios.”

“Come now, [Name]! You know Artemis isn’t usually like that.” Kaeya tries to play it off while he stands from his chair. He slowly moves behind it to take cover.

You stand when he does, and instead of hiding behind your chair, you pick yours up and hold it above your head. The joking glint in your eye makes Kaeya laugh. He continues to play along. “Please, mon cher! Think about it, if you send me to the hospital, we can’t do the Calla Lily podcast! Our podcasting days would be over!”

“Repent! And I shall forgive thee.”

“My fanbase is going to freak out if they see a bruise on my fa-”

The door of the small studio of yours opens, and a frazzled looking man comes in, holding a broom stick. His panicked state calms down when his jade eyes see the two of you are okay. He looks around the room cautiously and points to the fallen microphone and makes a shushing motion.

Shock runs through Kaeya’s face. He can’t see what expression you’re making because he’s looking at his manager, but he assumes you have the same flabbergasted expression. The man that just came in, hurriedly brushes past the two and properly shuts off the live broadcast.

“You guys should really turn on the notifications for Calla Lily.”

“Thoma,” Kaeya pushes the chair that was protecting him to the side. He wipes off the shock on his face and stands up, “Nothing personal was shared, right?” He sees your quiet demaner from his peripheral vision. The chair you once held high is now clattered on the ground.

“Nothing too personal, but a name has been dropped from what I can tell on twitter,” the other places the broomstick aside and replaces it with a phone. Thoma’s brows furrow, reading over the comments with Calla Lily’s local fanbase. “[Name]’s name was said. Not a lot has caught on yet, but it’s still worrisome.”

“We should handle it with haste. We shouldn’t let it stay online for too long. Can we request that with our publicists? Or do we need to do that ourselves…” Kaeya paces front and back of the studio, grabbing his phone from his back pocket. Artemis, who had already sensed the tension, walked off the table and out to the hallways.

Thoma lets out a long sigh, already contacting DCKZ publicists and certain strings he made from the numerous connections he made.

The blue-haired idol scrolls through yours and his shared twitter account for your supposed to be anonymous podcast. The anonymous part worked well until his cat bumped the mic. Perhaps he should have left his cat with his other members instead of bringing it with him.

He runs his fingers through his bangs, lifting it up to fully showcase his eyepatch (for aesthetics, he insisted when you first asked him about it). He looks at you, a little less than an arm length from him. He stops checking his phone and puts it down on the table. The corners of his lips curl to make a comforting smile, so unlike from his usual arrogant smirk. He rests a hand on your shoulder and looks you in the eyes, “We’ll fix this.”

Thoma clears his throat, catching you attention, “[Name], I’m terribly sorry about this. We’ll get professionals to clear it up right away, but I came here to also retrieve Kaeya…”

You nod, accepting that they are busy people. At times when you’re with Kaeya doing your own side podcast, you often forget he’s Kaeya of DCKZ, and not just your own college friend Kaeya. You push him off with a light shove on the shoulders, “Come back when you have the time, okay?”

“I always come back, don’t I?”

“I’m sorry I’m-Mister-Kaeya-Alberich-Who’s-Known-Globally-And-Is-An-Idol-So-I-Don’t-Actually-Have-All-The-Time-In-The-World-Despite-Saying-It,” You say in a jesting tone.

Kaeya gasps in mock offence, “Would you be so willing to get rid of me that easily?”

“Yes, now go, Thoma can’t wait forever,” You stare at the blonde boy waiting by the doorway, now holding the broomstick he brought with himself earlier. Why he held it in the first place, you have no clue. You pinch Kaeya’s ear, dragging him towards the doorway, ignoring his protests. One he’s out of your studio, you frown, “They won’t try to look into my life, right?”

It was one of those rare moments Kaeya showed how he truly felt. He took you into a warm embrace and chuckled, “I swear on my life, I will try to keep our podcasting identities hidden.”

To others outside his close friends, they would think he was still kidding around, but you know him. You know he means his promise.

“You know what, [Name]?” He releases you from the hug, “You can tweet out we’re going on hiatus. For a bit of a break while everything sorts itself out. I’ll fix it.”

…

“Childe, stop going in front of everyone… You’re not the only person the fans want to see…” Thoma partially hides his face with a hand, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Jean, another manager for a new debuting group called 4nemo, shares sympathy with Thoma. Having her own menaces to manage, she passes him a cup of coffee on the table.

Teyvat Entertainment’s idol groups are coming together for a small collaboration of fun and games.The other groups and idols were running late due to the storm brewing outside is what Jean likes to say. In truth, Jean and Thoma just like to be extra early, because archons knows how late they would usually run if they tried to leave on time. One time, they were late for 2 hours because she told them the actual time they needed to be in a meeting.

Thoma humbly accepts the coffee and stares at their groups mingling. “Do you think things will go as planned?” He asks to the air after a sip of the drink.

“Knowing the boys in our groups, no. In fact, I think it will be chaos. Nothing will go as planned.”

“That’s fair.”

But for once it seems that things were going to plan. The other idols were filtering through the doors, greeting each other with hello’s and bows of respect, especially to DCKZ. The group that helped started it all to build a reputation for their small, now titanic company. All was going well.

The cameras were rolling and they were live. They were playing cops and robbers. Kaeya acting as head chief of the cops. No one knows how he got that role, but they all just turned towards him. Diluc in the robbers team. Everyone got in their groups and that’s when the chaos happened.

During mid-filming, Barbatos’ phone dinged as he was getting caught by a cop. He gasps dramatically and falls to the ground, clutching the phone in his hand. Chongyun, the cop that was about to tag him, freezes in confusion. Barbatos gets up and runs towards the jail centre, yelling at Kaeya. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE GOING ON HIATUS? I NEED TO KNOW. CALLA LILY CAN’T OPERATE WHY?”

Barbatos mutters under his fake moustache created by his teal braids, “Well, I guess it makes sense. You didn’t want to show everything to the world, right? Just you and Lily… Hmm…”

Kaeya’s face goes slack, and Jean’s hand slaps itself on her face. “VENTI.”

Camera’s pan to Barbatos like a reality TV show.

The boy snaps himself from his spiral. An epiphany goes through his mind. “Oh yeah! I’m in jail. That TVT Dream guy got me, whoops!” He holds both his hands out, “Cuff me!”

Wrong epiphany, but at least he was still playing the game.

If only there was a way to rewind something that went on TV live.

“What we lack is charisma and appeal!”

Aether blinked before furrowing his brow together. “You mean we aren’t too sexy enough?”

“What else? That’s DCKZ’s main appeal so that’s the reason why she mostly fawns over them whenever they’re brought up.” Venti pouted as he crossed his arms over his chest.

“Leader, you’re just overthinking.” Kazuha deadpanned, shaking his head at Venti’s ideas.

The dark-haired male took out his phone and pressed and opened his contacts as he searched for the name of his brother on the list. “I’ll go ask Himmel to ask [Name] if she wants us to practice!”

Xiao opened one his eyes to peer at him. “You know that you can just ask her directly, right?” He only received a small clicking of tongue from his leader, tutting him as if he was disappointed.

“No no, that’ll ruin my experiment! [Name] responds differently when it comes to our group and to her close friends. If I asked her, the [Name] behind that screen is just refraining her excitement to see us.” Venti argued before bringing his phone close to his right ear as it rings, waiting for the other call to pick it up.

Aether’s eyes brightened up as an idea popped in his head. “Oh in that case, I’ll ask Lumine if she can ask Childe if they can come to see their photoshoot.”

Kazuha and Xiao sighed in unison at their foolish ideas.
