Hail Freyja
Hail to the Mistress of Seidh Hail to the war-wise Lady Hail to the Sow that is adorned with precious gems* Bless and walk with us this day ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ This particular kenning is based in the older ones where Freyja is known as a Sow (adult, female pig). As pigs have large litters of piglets generally, they are considered fertility symbols in many cultures. Her brother, Freyr, is also associated with pigs by way of his boar, Gullinbursti. (I am never sure if I spell that name right, if you spot a typo, I apologize.)

Freyr is the gentle breeze, yet he is also the raging storm. He is the forest fire, he is the harvest, the growth and the soil. The trees, and the forest itself. He is king of the land, and by his hand, we exist. By his will, we prosper. By his desire, the land produces.
Freyr is the kind and gentle king, yet he can also be the furious rule imposing ruler when needed. People like to think there's no purpose for Freyr, but it is he who holds civilization at the palm of his hand. Our way of life balances upon his finger one way and the next. He controls when the weather shifts, when the rains wet the fields, and when the sun dries the grass so hard, it breaks.
It is Freyr who allows the bounties we receive. Just as it is him that we live the lives we lead. Freyr is perhaps one of the most powerful deities within the Norse pantheons due to his sheer amount of connections from farming, from mass production to providing as a king does. He leads his people to great establishments. As long as he is king, he will provide. As long as he wills, we will survive. Hail Freyr, feast bringer, king of land, lord of harvest.

December prayers
hail Forsetti. mediator, peacemaker, presiding one! i pray that there be justice soon for those who've been treated unjustly. i pray for the war criminals to be stopped.
hail Eir. healer, doctor, nurse, therapist! i pray to you that there be healing for those who have survived this genocide. may they once more have access to medicine and rest.
hail Freyr. farmer-king, peaceful and battle-bold! i pray there be peace, that the bloodshed come to a stop. i pray the land and the people heal, and that indigenous peoples be given their lands back.
hail Frigg. hearth-lady, dear one, mother-friend, all-knowing! i pray that the displaced find home in their lands once more. i weep with you, for the parents who have mourned children. may all the victims find refuge.
hail Odin. father of victory, enemy of the wolf, god of prisoners! i pray for the freedom of the unjustly kidnapped and imprisioned. i beg that you give wisdom and power to those fighting fascism. may those waging horror be stilled.
hail Loki. change-creator, mischief-maker, shapeshifter! i pray that hypocrisy be uncovered and made clear. i ask that you turn the minds of those who would justify terrible wrongdoing. i pray for human society to drastically change for the better.
hail to the Nornir. weavers of wyrd, composers of chance, you who embroider history. i pray for an end to capitalism and war, to bigotry and bloodthirst. i beg that the horrors be over soon. i beg for frith to be.
(i wrote this set of prayers thinking of Palestine and Lebanon and North America, but this unfortunately could be used for multiple other things going on around the world. feel free to use or to share with credit.)

A Prayer for Ingvi-Freyr on Freyfaxi
Hail Ingvi-Freyr, lord of the fields, King of the harvest! The grains bend and bow their heads as You pass. The sweet scent of honey announces You, And the bright growing green is left in Your footprints. You are the deep-sown seed, The shooting stalk, The fertile seed pod, And the bountiful fruit. You are the rich earth from which we are fed, And You give to us the nourishment that keeps us healthy and whole. You are the noble beast who gives their life so that we may survive another day. Today on Your holy day, I offer You my thanks for the blessings you bring into my life and community, For keeping us fed and strong. You watch over our fields and bring us fair weather so that they do not wither, And You watch over our livestock so they come to no harm. Your gifts have shaped our very history and made us who we are. Giver of wealth, Let me grow my own seeds of abundance, prosperity, love, and joy, So that my life may be rich with Your presence. Hail, bright and beautiful king of beasts and crops! Hail to the one who feeds us in body and soul!

Nine unique ways to reconnect with nature
Tumblr media
Why nine? Because it's the sacred number of my path. In my experience, for people like us who need a certain amount of spiritual practice in their lives, feeling close to nature does wonders for the mood. And I know this is easier said than done, which is why I wanted to share a few personal tips, all related to some extent to self care. After all, I feel like we underestimate the tight link between mental health and this feeling of “closeness” with the earth.
Find the sacred in plants, or animals you've always been drawn to. How can you explain this particular connection you feel? Your intuition often reveals truth.
Collect what you see, and don't be afraid to hoard trinkets like treasure. Cool rock, cool stick, cute acorn, fragrant flower, fallen branch... Whatever tickles your fancy.
Go out of your way to enjoy what every season has to offer. Garden in the summer, or chill at the park, carve a pumpkin during the autumn, make hot cocoa during the winter... Find ways to be cozy in every weather!
Look out the window. Do it as often as you can. Look at the sky, observe how windy it is, how bright the sun is, how thick the clouds are!
Give names to the natural elements around you. Simply calling a tree, plant or animal by the name of its species does the trick: names are powerful, and they show that you acknowledge the spirit that resides in everything that lives.
Learn the stories, as many as you can. Anything folklore related to your area! Folklore hides a great deal of generational wisdom and beliefs, and it reveals such a powerful connection between the people and the land.
Cook with fresh ingredients. No need to grow your own everything, or raise your own chickens, or adopt other such backyard farming activities. Simply by making meals out of fresh, local products as often as you can, you might feel as one with the land thanks to which you are fed.
Stop feeling silly when indulging in aesthetics. Make that Pinterest board filled with pictures of flowers! Listen to that song that makes you feel like a woodland fairy! Put on that long, flowy skirt, or that cardigan with knit mushrooms on it! Through these seemingly trivial little joys, we may experience a connection with ourselves that's crucial to feeling close to our mother earth.
Use your hands: craft artsy projects if you can, dig your fingers in the earth, and brush the bark of trees! You body is your best tool when it comes to feeling grounded. It's always the part of yourself that's closest to earth. To use it is to honor it, and to care for it is to care for yourself.
If you reside in the Northern hemisphere, have a great spring season! Hail the King of the Elves and the spirits of the land 💛

Here’s to longer days
Here’s to shorter nights
Here’s to the season of sleeping beneath the stars.
To the season where all fruit starts to form
Here’s to Sól and to her return
To Freyr and the light that shines down.
Here’s to the solstice, to the turn of the seasons.
Hail!

Oh Freyr, radiant lord of spring,
Whose gentle touch awakens everything,
From winter's sleep, we feel your power,
As life returns in this blessed hour.
As buds burst forth and flowers bloom,
We offer thanks to you, whose loving hand
Guides us through the cycles of life,
Bringing forth abundance, without strife.
Your presence brings joy and light,
A promise of hope after winter's blight,
Your energy fills us with renewed life,
As we emerge from darkness and strife.
Freyr, we honor you, god of fertility,
For it is through your grace and divinity,
That we celebrate the season of renewal,
And the beauty of the earth's continual spiral.
May we always remember your gift,
And cherish the blessings that we lift,
In your honor, oh Freyr, lord of spring,
May we find strength and joy in all things.
Hail Freyr!

Prayer of Frith to Hnoss
Hail to the radiant Hnoss, you who inspire us to cherish those we hold dear. May the beaming joy and love you share with your kin and kind never fade. Please help us know such warm communal joy and evergreen familial affection.
Hail to the daughter of the Vanadis, you who share your mother’s eyelash-rain. May the bond you share with your mother be timeless and forever strong. Please help us preserve or find such closeness with our own families.
Hail to the niece of the Freyr, you who fill our hearts with tender devotion. May the treasures of your company and grace glimmer for all days. Please help us be honorable friends, caring family members, and kind children of Midgard.
Hail Hnoss!

To The Coming Of Autumn
Hail to the keepers of the Autumn, ones of the great harvest who bless the fields. Hail to Maponos, youthful lord with harp in hand, strumming as the night and day are equal, your music flowing through the fields, letting things flourish, and nourish us, and for them to die and be reborn. Hail to Apollo, beautiful one, ever-shining, who's light allows for the crops to grow and for us to stride in happiness, and understand the cycles of the world. Hail to Freyr, king of the Elves, the spirits of nature, as the green begins to turn to red and gold, we know the time of harvest is upon us. Hail to Thor, lover of Sif, as the dark half of the year is upon us. Keepers of fertility and nourishers of the grain, we take joy in the harvest! Hail to Demeter, Ceres, as she begins her journey to search for her beloved daughter, turning the wheel of the year from light to dark! Hail to Druantia, who's foliage hair shifts from green, to yellow, to red, as the leaves change in nature. Queen of Dryads and Druids, you are at your primal peak, o lady of the animals. Hail to Abnoba-Dianae, lady of the hunt who oversees the hunting season as it falls upon us, and blesses us with the meat upon our table.
