Hairpin decorated with a phoenix among flowers, Tang dynasty (618–907). China. White jade with gilt silver.
"The mythical phoenix was first carved in jade during the Neolithic period, as we know from a magnificent pendant from the Fuhao tomb, possibly a Shijiahe culture work. The dragon and phoenix were the most popular decorative elements adorning jade objects during the Bronze Age, and through to the Han and the Southern and Northern dynasties period. In this ornament the phoenix is incorporated with other motifs rather than being conventionally carved as a single image."
From “Translucent World: Chinese Jade from the Forbidden World” by Yang Liu and Edmund Capon, published in 2007.

the Hades inspired hairpin is done)
(sadly I don't have long enough hair to test it properly but I have lots of plants which were amenable to be a background for demonstration 😁)

Amazing kitsunemen (fox mask) tsumami kanzashi (hairpin) by MOMO kanzashi (EU based shop <3). I love what Veronica did with the swirling red ties, it adds so much dimension to this piece!
