shaking your hand i had the EXACT same thoughts when i heard about here lies love and while i see the producers saying it’s anti-marcos i’m not sure i trust like that especially for audiences in the usa who. let’s be real. generally don’t know much about the philippines let alone the politics and may have context for some nuances. but i ALSO haven’t seen it so eeeeeeek -a filo american not feeling particularly hype so far

yeah yeah yeah exactlyyyyy like. on the one hand i want to be like, hell yeah, they're really promoting the cast, all filipino/fil-am actors in filipino roles (doesn't usually happen. ruthie ann miles is halfwhite/halfkorean and originated playing imelda, and conversely you get all the filipina actresses playing the vietnamese kim in miss saigon like... it's more likely pinoy actors end up playing 'asian but not filipino' roles SHFGSHDGDFHS like tbh im sure there have been more filipinas playing kim than there have actresses of vietnamese heritage)

SO i'm like ok ok. filipinos playing filipinos in a story about filipinos, okay, like i wanna support THAT angle but did it HAVE to be about the marcoses, like AGFHGG ur SO so right like idk how much audiences in the US understand the marcos regime and i feel like making imelda the protagonist is gonna inescapably glamourise her/the marcoses... like no matter what of course its gonna glamourise it??? yeah idk idk but i'm glad i'm not alone in my thinking

Am I the only one slightly happy we’re wearing masks in the west?😬😆 I pray that this pandemic comes to an end and that everyone stays safe & healthy. I also know that masks can be an inconvenience (especially since it’s summer) but.... face masks have been the norm in the east (for various reasons such as air pollution, sickness prevention, hiding pimples, etc) Wearing a face mask in South Korea is as normal as wearing earphones in public and is an expected commuter accessory. The mask is a gesture toward good hygiene and awareness of their civic duty regarding public health. Furthermore, face masks often act as an accessory, sold in various colors and designs, which can be a fashionable complement to an outfit. On my 16th birthday Mom and Dad threw me a party sailboat in Hawaii. 🌴🌈🌴We had a feast and everyone got dressed up. Then OMG, dolphins 🐬 kept swimming in front of our boat. It was so exciting!
