5 Artists from the UNDRGRND Collection
UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through the social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured.

Laureano Gabriel
Laureano’s 3D sculptures are too advanced for web2. We can’t even properly display the interactive sculptures that allow the user to zoom in and appreciate the attention to detail, like in Ouroboros. The series HiAdd depicts moving, 3D sculptures of human heads symbolizing the beauty underneath our skin. The subtle reference to these as “PFPS” in the description may be the most subversive and clever aspect of these incredible works.

Halil Ibrahim Cetinkaya
Halil’s work matches his online persona. Always active and everywhere at once supporting other artists. He mirrors the fast movement in his long-exposure photographs. These light trails remind us how fast we are all moving through this space, and life, while his photos of copper smiths in Heroes of Art, remind us of simpler times when things took time and care to appreciate the craft. Halil’s photos capture the balance required to make it in this space and in life.

Javier Montero
In these abstract gifs, Javier Montero plays with light waves or even sound waves. Playing with the dimensions of each gif, Javier mixes glitch, motion, pixel, and monochrome, he manages to cover it all…even the existential. While many of his works will mesmerize his viewers VPF153(INERTIA) will leave his audience with something more (or less if you find it bleak and emptying). It depicts an endless stream of silhouettes passing through into the light, either crossing over to the other side or like flies to a bug zapper. There's either comfort in the fact that there are so many of us going together or despair because we are helpless against the draw.

Turmusov
Turmusov’s glitch motion art focuses on mysterious characters. Sometimes shown as just shadowy figures and other times like demonic possessions these dark and cryptic beings resemble something far more realistic and traumatic: individuals living in countries surrounded by perpetual war. The most revealing of all of his works, Exhausted, was the first piece minted and shows a city at night with the sky lit up by anti-aircraft missiles. In his first, Turmusov told his audience he was exhausted, is it any wonder that his characters are drawn as black, gaseous, or filled with fiery rage?

Ermac Kiyani
By now we should all know the name Mahsa Amini and support the uprising surrounding her death. As an outsider to that world, it’s important to remember that a country's laws do not always reflect the values of the people. We are witnessing what happens when these two forces diverge and are forced to reconcile their differences. And while the issue at the heart of this is a woman’s issue, it’s important, as men, to remember your role in this world and that supporting women, celebrating their beauty, without objectifying them, in times like these can be just as impactful. Ermac Kiyani is one of those men, fighting the good fight through his art, and should be commended for his example and followed accordingly.
