#hallmark countdown to Christmas

The bar is on the fucking floor that this has me blown away (though I found out more info that has me much more !!!!!!!! discussed more at the bottom!), but genuinely had to rewind to make sure I didn’t imagine it happening that in one of the new HALLMARK CHANNEL movies, one of the side characters asks the lead actress if she needs to get a gift

“For your boyfriend? Or girlfriend? Miscellaneous Significant Other?”

and like… for the HALLMARK CHANNEL, the same one that PULLED THE AD after some viewers threw a fit when they aired a commercial with a same-sex wedding only a few years ago (literally 2019), that is INSANELY progressive.

And as a queer woman who will always have a soft spot for Hallmark Christmas movies, it was INCREDIBLY nice to hear.

Like yes I’m aware they’ve had some of the newer movies in recent years include gay characters (always as a sibling or friend who is not a lead with the exclusion of The Christmas House (2020) and it’s sequel (2021), where the gay couple is already a couple, and The Holiday Sitter (2022), which is their first ever gay love story plot.) but this is the FIRST TIME I’ve EVER noticed them even ENTERTAIN the thought that the leading female character of one of their romance plots could be anything but straight.

In looking up the names of the movies listed above (cause I knew Jonathan Bennet was in them but couldn’t remember the names 😂) I found about the upcoming Hallmark movie:

Friends and Family Christmas (2023)

which is airing on December 17th and this is the plot and I’m 😁😁 absolutely delighted to learn this:

Daniella has recently moved to New York to pursue an art career and decides to stay in town to share the holidays with her circle of artist friends, instead of going home to see her sweet, if overbearing parents.

Amelia is a talented entertainment lawyer trying to stay focused on her work after a broken engagement.

When Daniella and Amelia are set up by their parents, they agree to pretend that they are dating, to appease them for the holidays.

However, as they spend time in each other’s worlds, they soon build a connection that is deeper than either of them could have hoped for.

Starring Humberly Gonzalez and Ali Liebert.

I quite literally never thought I’d fucking see the day that there was a Hallmark film about queer women but I am absolutely thrilled about it because no matter how bad and predictable these movies are, I do love them. And like I said the bar is on the floor, but finally welcome to the present day Hallmark Channel, it is fucking fantastic to have you!

Okay, tumblr, Halloween is over and Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas is in full swing and I NEED to tell y'all about the watchparty game my Dungeons & Dragons table invented called...

Find the Werewolf

That's right. Within every cozy, predictable Hallmark movie lurks a werewolf. They might be the hometown hero's chubby brother-in-law, the city-loving heroine's plucky office assistant, the Christmas Prince's wicked ex-girlfriend, or the cutthroat businessman trying to bulldoze the cozy bakery down the road. It could even be the hero or heroine themselves...

The point is, someone, somewhere in these movies gets all wolfy and (perhaps) murdery on the full moon and it's YOUR task to identify said werewolf and back up your case with evidence. The prize for the winner is entirely at your discretion.

Bonus points if someone is obviously a vampire, fae, immortal trickster, or other agent of Christmas Magic.

Now go forth and find those werewolves!

i died off the internet but motherfucking HALLMARK brought me back to say that seeing an advert for a David Elsendoorn Hallmark Original movie while specifically and intentionally watching a William Moseley Hallmark movie [on Hallmark] is whiplash of another kind

Mystery on Mistletoe Lane (Hallmark movie) review

I love a good mystery movie with a well written storyline! This is a Hallmark Movies & Mystery Christmas movie which premiered Dec 2023. Filled with mystery, clues, romance and and obsession with Christmas. Upon taking a new job and moving to a new town, Heidi Wicks (Erica Cerra) and her kids discover a mystery in their new historic home (Mistletoe Manor). A local handyman David (Victor Webster) connects with Heidi and her kids to find his own connection to the historic house as he helps them solve the mystery. The movie is set during the holidays, Christmas time and Heidi's new home reveals a very special story. The house is full of riddles and clues to solve. Lots of hiding places. Who better to solve the mystery than Heidi's kids? They set out to find all the reindeers and riddles to solve the story behind Mistletoe Manor. Along the way, Heidi's kids get help from a special guest to help finish the last few riddles. They're getting so close to cracking this case. hahahaha After a divorce, will Heidi find a new romance? With their new discovery, Heidi believes this is just what the town needs to come together again. If you like finding clues and solving riddles and mysteries, then his movie is for you! And the movie is set during Christmas time. What more can I say - lol Heidi's kids are the real MVPs in this movie. They were not happy about the move, but the mystery of their new home kept them so busy that they forgot about being upset about the move. The sister and brother duo worked well together to unravel all the clues and riddles. One of the best Christmas mystery movies from Hallmark in my opinion. If you want to know what the mystery is and how David is connected to the historic home, you'll have to watch -as I wont reveal any spoilers---this time! I give this movie 4 out 5 stars for a well written storyline. I think the writers could have made the connecting dots a little harder for viewers to solve. However, still a great movie!
