After watching the Barakamon anime last year, I had bought all 18 volumes of the manga. I just wanted to share that Handa Seishuu is definitely asexual. I bookmarked pages in the manga that heavily implies his asexuality and even put those specific volumes under my Asexual folder on my Kindle so I could find them later.
There is one specific page that comes to mind where Handa is visiting Tokyo with Naru and is talking to this girl that his parents once tried to convince him to marry. Handa's dad's manager is watching them interact, shaking his head, and saying, "There's no sexual desire present at all." He just comes out and says it. My filed evidence doesn't even include the Handa-kun prequel series where the girl reads his palm and says there's no sexual desire in him.
Handa Seishuu is undoubtedly asexual. There is so much evidence in the manga that no one can convince me otherwise. Barakamon is now my comfort manga that just focuses on the every day life of a young man who is happily single. It's everything I ever wanted in fiction.
Handa Seishuu 🖌️ I was meant to post this on Saturday but totally forgot orz
Barakamon is such a fun manga and so is the spin off Handa-kun 💖 I haven’t read them in a while but I have a few of the books - this is based off one of the panels in the first volume
"I feel most at peace when writing" -Handa Seishuu-
I can't express how much I love this scene! It's a totally different 'crazy' Handa-in-writing-mode of his anime version, but this Handa is just as intense. That laser-focus, that expression, and the satisfaction he displayed at the end. Chef's kiss!
