you're cooking when you notice him. you finish dicing the onion on your cutting board, and when you look up, you smile when you see the looming shadow that takes up the space behind your curtains. (mercenary!ghost x fem!reader, 18+)

"hi, spooky skeleton," you giggle, turning around and dropping the onions into the pot. the sizzle warms your apartment, and when you turn back around, you smile wider when he's come out from the shadows, closer, already on the other side of the kitchen island and only a few steps away from you.

he's geared up. vest thick and heavy strapped to his chest, the hood of his rain jacket over his head to further conceal the skull mask he wears. he stands tall, back straight and eyes narrowed, what little you could see of them. you put the cutting board down, twirling the kitchen knife you hold in your hand before holding it out in front of you, putting the sharp tip against the center of his chest.

"slow down there, big boy," you coo. "did you do as i told you?"

he snarls a bit before fishing a phone out of his pocket, tossing it onto the counter. you look down at it, watching the video playing. it's your mark, slobbering in tears, begging for his life. he pleads, holds up his hands, shakes his head, says that he's sorry in every language he knows until there's a satisfying hole in the middle of his forehead, a lone trail of blood making its way down his face. you think it looks like he's crying tears of blood. it's oddly poetic.

you look back at him, meeting his dark eyes, and you draw your hand back, setting the knife down. with your other hand, you drag your knuckles down the side of his masked face, puckering your lips and blowing him a dramatic kiss.

"such a proficient one, you are," you murmur. "what is that? third one this week?"

"want m'prize," he growls, and you step closer hooking your fingers into the collar of his vest and blowing him another kiss. then, you reach for the kitchen drawer next to you and pull it, taking out a thick envelope and handing it to him.

"you're making them very happy, ghost," you tap the plastic of the skull, giggling. "they like you a lot. got time for another?"

he clicks his tongue, tilting his head to the side, and you squeak when he reaches down and grips both sides of your ass with two big hands. you laugh, but it turns into a breathless moan when those hands slip under your skirt and tug at the lace of your panties.

"i want the real prize, want wot 'm owed," ghost says lowly. you stand up on your toes, pressing your mouth to his over his mask. you let your hands fall, pressing on the backs of his hands, encouraging him to slip a few fingers under the lace and prod the entrance of your sticky cunt.

"you want it, baby?" you whimper. "do you?"

"yes--" you feel him bite from under the mask, and you stick your tongue out, licking over the line of his bottom lip, your pride swelling when you feel how shaky he breathes as you tease him. "give it t' me--"

there it is. now i have you.

"well..." you press your pelvis to his, rocking against his fingers, and he hisses when he feels the way you soak the fabric of his gloves. he wants to eat it, he wants to have you, he wants what he was promised. "gotta do somethin' for me first, ghost. gotta job for you. can't pay you for it though, not the way you like."

you think you see him smile under the mask, the corners of his eyes crinkling as if he likes what he hears. as if he knows what it is you will give him if he just does as you say.

"y'know wot it is tha' i want, don't you, swee'eart?"

yes, you think, and you respond by giving the front of his mask a kiss, one you think he reciprocates by the way he cradles the back of your head.

i know what it is that you want because...i want it, too.

what was the point of lila thinking home was a feeling she didn't deserve and could never earn until she found diego. what was the point of them finding deep, meaningful love in each other. what was the point of lila opening her heart and confessing that all she really wanted was a family with him.

what was the point of developing diego and lila over two seasons, creating such a beautiful, chaotic bond, just to destroy it for no reason.

Mech pilot yuuta and his mech that’s incredibly possessive over him. He takes to you as a handler almost immediately, excited for the help after his last few handlers were scared off. You’re not allowed inside, your constantly dodging malfunctioning limbs and faulty wires, but you’re not one to back down, and gaining her trust is just as important as gaining his.

Rika only realizes how important you are to Yuuta the day after you spend the night with him, and he’s left alone in the morning with an empty bed and a broken heart. You’re his handler. You’re not supposed to leave him. Not ever.

She lures you into her chest one night, faking some sort of lighting malfunction and allowing you inside for the first time. She keeps you inside all night, enduring all your yelling and banging on her insides to be let out, a nice gift for Yuuta.

After the mole arc, it seemed like Nightfall was at risk of continuing to risk her health for the sake of Twilight. This extra doesn't exactly contradict that (suffering at the doorway all full of cold was sure a choice, after all) but the end part where she thought back to both Twilight and Handler showing concern for her and telling her to take a break makes me think that they're finally getting through to her somewhat. Alas, she's far from fully there so I doubt this is the last stunt we'll see her pull when it comes to neeedlessly trying to impress Twilight, but! I do she's starting to internalise that she needs to rest at times.

And the choice to have Handler in the flashback and not just Twilight is one I'm definitely a fan of. On a conscious level, Nightfall is motivated by wanting to win Twilight's affection, but below that, she is aware that the other agents have experienced loss and don't want to lose her too.

Funny how the people telling her to rest are those who are terrible at taking care of themselves though. With Handler, it's more passive depression, but Twilight's perfectionist streak (though coming from a different motivation) can be just as detrimental to his own health.

It's nice to see that for all they tend to neglect themselves they care about each other enough to push each other to do better by themselves.

Thinking about Fires of Raven again and why it felt so satisfying even though most would agree it’s the Bad Ending.

Then I realised that the whole game is based around completing missions (often with a message from Walter at the end of them) and Fires of Raven is the most Mission Accomplished ending there is. You even get one final message from Walter where he finally thanks you.

So basically I’m just a guy who loves a pat on the head and a “well done” from a gravelly voiced father figure. Absolute Hound behaviour, disgraceful.

I like how the explanation of the Amber Clave Market from dominion is explained via the catacombs. Like shipping them all directly to it would’ve been huge red flags. Makes me wonder what kinda dinosaurs are lurking around down there…

Episode 4

Brooklynn jumpscare 

Okay but seriously I hate the path Brooklynn is going down… I fear the Lythrosaurus thing is just the tip of the iceberg.

SAMMY AND YAZ’S FIGHT 😭😭 I legitimately am tearing up. These two mean the world to me, I’m not exaggerating. I don’t think this is the end of Yasammy, especially given how much both the crew and fandom love them. Some space apart can be good; relationships are never perfect. I hope they get through this and come back even stronger. We’re all rooting for them!

The Atrociraptors snuggling with the Handler… I can’t. Soyona PLEASE let them be happy!!! She cares so much for them and I relate a lot to that. “Terrifying creatures that could eat me but I still care for them.”

Episode 6:

Okay Brooklynn training the atrociraptors was kinda funny. The way they all peek their heads up the moment she’s filming 🤣

Yep. Knew it was the tip of the iceberg with Brooklynn. Like omg she was really about to kill Davi huh…?

Brooklynn why are you TRYING to piss Ghost off, she just wanted affection 😭. Hope that doesn’t come back to bite her… literally.

Is it bad I’m rooting for the handler to get her family (the atrociraptors) back?? PLZ REVEAL HER STORY SOON!!!!

Darius’s anger toward the way they’re treating the dinosaurs is so so so valid imo.

Episode 9 + 10

So THATS how Soyona escaped?? 

MORE CERATOSAURUS YESSSS!!!! I grew very attached to them given the fact they were one of the starter Dino’s back in Jurassic World Evolution. So happy we see more of them and not just “gets killed by Scorpius Rex in the same season”

Blind Allo coming in clutch once more! We love to see it!!!!!

THE PUNCH TO THE STOMACH, GET HER HANDLER!!! (The toxic yuri is fighting again)

OKAY OKAY CAN I JUST TALK ABOUT THAT FACE OFF FOR A MINUTE!!!!!!! I could’ve sworn the handler was gonna get killed after Red attacked her. But the way she handled her and shut down the aggression with a few hits and diversion of the bites— She raised these animals, she grew used to calculating their movements and how to dissuade them. And her siblings coming in to back her up. Poor Red getting scolded by the Handler and her pack with little words. The Handler just leaning over to close Red’s jaws shut when she hissed at her. Ah, absolute chef’s kiss. My FAVORITE scene in this season, no doubt. 

OKAY the Carnotaurus makes sense given how “duh Biosyn would have other trained dinosaurs.”

GHOST! THE HANDLER! NOOOO! Okay I’m not kidding, I legitimately started crying… a second time. I literally cannot  deal with animal-human friendships. The way the Handler looked when Ghost was dying hit far too close to home for me. I’m gonna miss them both…

Okay, overall, phenomenal season. May ramble about it more in depth in a different post, but for now… I need to cope and do homework 🥺

What’s interesting also about the brief Handler/Brooklynn team up is that it seems to follow almost the exact template Brooklynn trialled with her ‘seduction’ if you will of Soyona. Like, the Brooklynn guide for getting in with the scary raptor ladies: do something good for her (save her life and help with her business, find the raptors/help with the codes on the cages) get in her head, make her think you’re on her side (I admire you and what you’ve built and want to learn from you, I sympathise with you and the plight of your animals and want to work with you to take down a mutual enemy), then wait for the opportune moment to take her down. It’s like a microcosm of the same game. Except this one is much more spontaneous and also does not have the backup of her friends, who spend a goodly amount of time trying to figure out what the hell is actually going on, and crucially is unsuccessful for various reasons

I need to drag my cute mutt to the store with me. We'd look at doormats together and with every one we pull off the shelf, I'd lean in to their ear to ask what torture it would be to kneel on. How their weight would push uncomfortable plastic and fiber into their knees. How much worse it will be when I shove my boot into their leg to add my own weight to it.

tentatively dipping my toes into the essa community as an autistic adult… i actually discovered this fandom by accident, from videos of essa creators explaining the differences between essa’s and service dogs. being a service dog handler, the videos caught my eye and i sort of fell down the rabbit hole. the whole thing seemed really sweet and reminded me of my own childhood.

i was inspired by the videos i saw and decided to make my own and model him after my irl service dog. i cut and styled his fur, made him weighted and diyed all of his gear myself.

i guess i still have some internalized ableism about things that are perceived as immature, but i’ve been struggling a lot recently and have been seeking more of youthful coping mechanisms. in a way this felt very healing to my younger self
