Traditional Punjabi Juttis With A Modern Twist
In a world dominated by mass-produced footwear, traditional Punjabi juttis are making a comeback with a modern twist. These intricately handcrafted shoes have been a part of Punjabi culture for centuries. However, they are no longer confined to traditional attire but are being embraced as fashion statements worldwide. In this article, we will explore the history, craftsmanship, and contemporary appeal of Punjabi juttis.
THE ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Punjabi juttis, often referred to as 'mojaris,' have their roots deeply embedded in the vibrant culture of Punjab, India. These footwear pieces were originally created for Maharajas and nobility and were adorned with exquisite embroidery and embellishments. Over time, they became an integral part of Punjabi folk attire, symbolizing both culture and comfort.
THE CRAFTSMANSHIP
The art of making Punjabi juttis is a skill that has been passed down through generations. Craftsmen, known as 'juttisars,' meticulously handcraft each pair. These artisans select high-quality leather and adorn it with intricate thread work, beadwork, and sequins. The result is a beautiful and comfortable shoe that can take days to create.
MODERN INTERPRETATIONS
Traditional Punjabi juttis have witnessed a resurgence in recent years. With fashion designers and enthusiasts embracing them, these shoes have evolved to cater to contemporary tastes. Modern interpretations include juttis with a blend of traditional and western designs, making them versatile enough to be paired with ethnic and fusion outfits.
THE APPEAL OF PUNJABI JUTTIS
1. UNPARALLELED COMFORT
Punjabi juttis are known for their snug fit and flexibility. Made from soft leather, they mold to the shape of your feet, providing unparalleled comfort.
2. UNIQUE AESTHETICS
The detailed embroidery and colorful designs make Punjabi juttis unique and eye-catching. They can add a touch of tradition and elegance to any outfit.
3. VERSATILITY
These shoes can be worn with a wide range of attire, from traditional Punjabi suits to modern dresses, giving you a versatile footwear option.
CARING FOR YOUR PUNJABI JUTTIS
To ensure the longevity of your Punjabi juttis, it's essential to follow some simple care tips. Store them in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight, and use a soft cloth to wipe away dirt. Avoid exposing them to water and chemicals, which can damage the intricate embroidery.
CONCLUSION
Traditional Punjabi juttis have transcended their cultural origins to become a global fashion statement. Their blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and modern appeal makes them a must-have in your wardrobe. So, why wait? Elevate your footwear game with these heritage treasures.
FAQS ABOUT PUNJABI JUTTIS
1. ARE PUNJABI JUTTIS ONLY SUITABLE FOR TRADITIONAL INDIAN OUTFITS?
Not at all! Punjabi juttis can be paired with a wide range of outfits, from traditional to modern, adding a touch of elegance to your look.
2. HOW CAN I FIND AUTHENTIC PUNJABI JUTTIS?
Look for reputable sellers who source their juttis from skilled artisans in Punjab. Authentic juttis are made with care and attention to detail.
3. CAN PUNJABI JUTTIS BE WORN IN ALL SEASONS?
While Punjabi juttis are generally comfortable year-round, it's best to avoid wearing them in heavy rain or snow as these conditions can damage the delicate embroidery.
4. DO PUNJABI JUTTIS COME IN VARIOUS SIZES AND DESIGNS?
Yes, Punjabi juttis are available in a wide range of sizes and designs. You can easily find a pair that suits your style and comfort preferences.
5. ARE PUNJABI JUTTIS A SUSTAINABLE CHOICE?
Traditional Punjabi juttis are often made using eco-friendly, locally sourced materials, making them a sustainable and responsible choice for conscious consumers.

“My attire is always vintage inspired, even if all of the pieces aren’t always vintage. Here I’m wearing a blazer from Kirrin Finch, trousers from Banana Republic some years back, a YSL silk necktie that belonged to my father, tie clip and pocket square from an antique shop in Black Mountain, NC, and fedora from a vintage shop in Asheville, NC. The pocket watch was an Etsy purchase and my shoes are Italian, handmade in the 60s. My attire is meant to evoke the feeling of another time — nothing specific, just vaguely nostalgic, landing somewhere between 20s and late 1950s. I’m inspired by classic dress, a style of dress that has previously been reserved mainly for men…and have spent a lot of time learning sartorial rules that I’ve learned to joyfully break.”

I always joke about accidental “sugar daddy” Tim who just likes to buy nice things for Bernard, but what about Bernard? picture one day he is getting ready for their date and he is indecisive between a Gucci jacket or an Armani one and he has to stop because since when does he own these???
He turns to look at his closet, at his handmade Italian shoes, the brand clothes filling the space that used to be only hoodies and thrift finds, and the expensive watches on his bedside table and it suddenly hits him “Oh… I’m Tim’s sugar baby”

inspired by the manchester anon haha but do you have any tips and suggestions for visiting leeds? 🩷
I've lived here for 2 years now (!!!) but somehow I still don't really know my way around and just go to the same 5 places and use google maps to get anywhere else. it's sad. but here's some shit I love:
Grindhouse - cheap drinks, loads and loads of seats, never too full, music a reasonable volume, and they project 80s movies on the back wall. we once sat in here for 2 hours cos Stand By Me was on. one time we watched the bar staff earnestly tell a group of women on a hen do that the bar was closed and they weren't serving any more drinks, at 7:45pm. 10/10.
Rudy's - only 9 cities* in this fair nation have a Rudy's, so I'm going to keep reccing it for everyone else. perfect Neapolitan pizza. *Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham, Durham, London, York, Liverpool - if you live in one of these places and haven't been to Rudy's yet, sort it out.
Neon Cactus - go here on a Wednesday and order wings, and you'll get half price margs. lots of great Mexican scran. don't take anyone too picky or over 50, because the price for the great food and vibes is that at least one thing you order will be incorrect. but roll with it. half price margs, man.
Empire Cafe - book in advance if you want to sample the delights of Empire Cafe, cos there's like 6 tables max. everything is seasonal, changes on the daily, and is insanely delicious. if you want to experience heaven, order the steak and chips with salsa verde. there is NOTHING like it.
Stuzzi - another seasonal, small plate sort of place, but Italian. amazing food and a gorgeous restaurant. go with a big group and order one of everything.
Eat Your Greens - ANOTHER seasonal restaurant! this one is farm-to-fork and organic. I can’t speak to the quality as I haven’t actually been, but I am a frequenter of their GREENGROCER, which is MEGA. last time I think I left with natty wine, pâté, some insane tinned fish, a jar of harissa and a bag of sunset potatoes. if you like food, go here.
SARTO - fresh, handmade pasta and picky bits. another great place to go with a group and order all the starters. I had a celeriac pasta there last year that I think about on a fairly regular basis; I picked it cos it was the weirdest sounding thing on the menu and it was fucking mouthwatering. good quality and good people! and it's next door to The Wardrobe, so perfect for a pre-gig tea.
Santiago Bar - like Grindhouse (alternative, casual) but the music is louder and you'll find yourself doing tequila shots at 1am and screaming along to, like, Don Broco. it's the best.
Blue Collar Boys - as a rule I hate 'vintage' clothes shops (overpriced, ugly, everything is XXS), but this place seems to specialise solely in American t-shirts and sweatshirts from the 90s in exactly my size, and everything is £10. this is amazing and a huge bargain if you find something like vintage Wranglers and a Playboy bomber jacket (£20, my wife) but not so amazing or a bargain if you find 3 t-shirts with holes in (£30, me). we've never been without finding shit we love. they only open on random weekends, and they always seem to have more stuff than they could possibly ever sell. it's a freaky vintage alternate universe.
The Corn Exchange - a big gorgeous ol' building full of little businesses. vintage, handmade, tattoos, coffee, jewellery, independent brands, yarn, shoes, a barbers, a bookshop, they've got it all. very easy to spend £100 and 6 hours. every so often they have a market on the bottom floor. perfect tiny representation of Leeds: quirky, independent, delicious, cool.
Silver's Deli - this is a 9-minute train ride away in Bramley (my ends!) but has become THEE buzzy foodie spot recently. go on a sunny saturday morning (cos you will probably have to sit outside) and order the everything sandwich. thank me later. if they have scotch eggs or sausage rolls on, I beseech you, order both. and if you want the sunday special prepare to get there at 11 and fight.
Against the Grain - if you've come to Bramley for Silver's, you may as well trundle 10 minutes up the road and visit the best bar in Leeds. cosy, casual, full of locals, hidden in Swinnow Mills. it's a sit-around-and-chat-to-people sort of place, with bonus charcuterie boards AND a pizza van on weekends. we are here A LOT, because Gray's Salon and Rose and Thorn Tattoo are both in the Mill, and we give them all our money. oh! and dog friendly. sooo many dogs.
Project House/Galleria - if you've gotten the train out to Bramley for Silver's and ATG, jump on the 72 back to town and get off at Project House to eat MORE food. Galleria is a great place to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Project House has EVERYTHING (depending on the day). yoga! gigs! vintage fairs! a bi-annual tattoo convention meets makers market with food vendors called Hand of Glory! check what's on and head on down to support local!
Kirkstall Bridge Inn - another one local(ish) to me, but worth travelling out of town for; a PROPER pub (i.e. no tv, no sports, no shite) that does roasts upstairs and lets dogs in downstairs. outdoor seating right by the canal, and every so often they put something on and the car park turns into a tiny festival. Kirkstallpalooza is a highlight. great place to finish a nice canal walk (who am I?!).
tl;dr sorry that this is obnoxiously long, I love Leeds

so after my italian renaissance class last year (which had a very big LARP element) i’ve taken the advice of my aunt and mom and decided to try to join the SCA. i’ve done some looking online and i’ve joined a bunch of facebook groups and emailed some folks, and i have my first event in my calendar! and now the next step is to make my garb (which frankly is where half of my interest stems in the first place).
so far i’ve just been doing a ton of research into medieval/early modern clothing, since i don’t have my sewing machine with me here in chicago (but i will be bringing it back with me when i visit home for christmas). so far i’ve started a big google doc of links to blogs and patterns and stores (i want to make most of my garb myself, but i am going to buy shoes because i have zero desire to take up leatherworking just yet), and next i need to plan out my outfit and the colors and whatnot. i’ve been torn between clothing from 14th century england and 15th century italy, but my actual persona is going to be italian so i’m going to start with that and then maybe make some 14th century garb for my friends, who i am also trying to get into reenactment with me.
the thing is, i already have patterns for both a medieval hood and a cotehardie, but it seems like for most of the things i want to make, regardless of era, require that i learn how to draft a pattern so it can be properly form fitting. so there’s a lot of sewing skills I’m going to need to work on!! thankfully i will have my mom around to help me when i go home for Christmas :)
hopefully i can pull something together before 1/6 for my first SCA event, otherwise i’ll have to find something to borrow off of someone, which does mean that i really need to start holiday gifts maxxing right now before i go home and have to start sewing like crazy (because i am insane and insist on handmade gifts every year)
anyway. i’m really excited about this!!! i’m really excited to join the SCA it seems extremely cool and fun and i’m excited to meet other people who are as weirdly invested in the italian renaissance as i am (🤞🏽🤞🏽). and i will definitely be posting garb updates:tm: as they happen

thinking about the dichotomy between spy and pyro.
Italian leather shoes against mud stained rubber. Sleek, fancy cotton clothes next to kevlar stained with grease, sweat, and dried blood. The handle of an axe, slowly splintering with use, lying beside a freshly cleaned balisong. The scent of gasoline and floral perfume, cool cologne. A cigarette next to a pilot light. Dark reflective lenses, meeting his eyes through curls of cigarette smoke. Squeaky, shiny gloves and soft calfskin together. Big zippers and silk ties.
The whistles that tumble through a cartridge and the lips curving round their own filter. Laughter muffled under their masks. wrapped presents and handmade drawings.

xiao zhan - sohu fashion exclusive interview @ tod’s milan fashion week 🎤
Q: Today is the first time I came to TOD'S Milan show, How do you feel?
XZ: I was very excited, and I was shocked by the combination of the installation and the art of light and shadow on the site.
Q: Let me briefly introduce today's style, What is the matching idea?
XZ: What about this jacket? First of all, I like TODS's 2023 autumn and winter series. It uses this jacket that I like very much. The material of matte leather is very textured, and this belt is also a single product that I like very much. I often wear it in private, including this shoe, which is Timeless. The loafers with this logo is also my favorite.
Q: Which qualities of TOD'S are similar to yourself, Is it more suitable?
XZ: I think TOD'S has been adhering to the inheritance of the Italian craftsmanship, craftsmanship, and the adherence to the original intention and attention to detail.
Q: What does TOD'S look like in your impression, Is it the same as the Italian style you imagined?
XZ: The impression of TOD'S is actually handmade inheritance and then combined with fashion, very elegant and very classic
Q: How do you understand what TOD'S stands for Italian style?
XZ: I think TODS is very good at making good use of leather materials and then making the most of the leather materials. I like it very much.
Q: What is the different feeling when you come to Milan this time?Is there any food to check?
XZ: I think there are many, many, because the last time I came to Milan was very rushed, so this time I hope to have more time to feel the charm of Milan
Q: What is the most important aspect of buying clothes every day?
XZ: I think comfort may be more important to me.
Q: what do you like to do when you are not working? Relax?

Fake title (sorry, H, for stealing): One million futures and in all of them, you
Tumblr media
🔮 One Million Futures (and in All of Them, You)
Harry sat at his desk, his left leg bouncing incessantly. Wild eyed, he checked the clock.
02.12 AM.
Fuck, he thought, teeth already gnawing at the skin around his thumbnail. He could feel his eyes itching, begging for sleep, and still, he chanced a desperate glance at his empty coffee cup.
It was a bad idea, he knew it was. But, the alternative…?
God, it seemed so much worse.
Again, his mind replayed it.
The sound of his handmade, glove leather Italian shoes clicking steadily against the pedestrian crossing. The screech of tires. A familiar arm pushing him out of the way as he hit the safety of the sidewalk with a thwack! Louis Tomlinson’s stupid, irritatingly handsome face marred with worry and anger, appearing in his dimming vision as he yelled over his shoulder at the rogue idiot of a driver, “If he dies, I’ll sue you for every cent your sorry hide is worth, arsehole! Mark my fucking words!”
It was surprisingly in character, although Harry wasn’t exactly used to that Northern brogue speaking in defense of him. In fact, not an hour earlier, it had been used to cuss him out extensively, just as it had been every year since they’d met at Eton. (Being the sole heirs to the two most lucrative and competitive record labels in Britain did not fast friends make.)
He sighed at the memory and, reflexes understandably addled by thirty-two consecutive hours of wakefulness, he stupidly, stupidly allowed his eyes to fall closed. The effect was immediate.
Louis, drenched in dirt, blood, and rain, heaving as he protectively held a limp Harry to his chest, war raging around them. ‘I’ll get you out of here, my love. I swear I will.’
Louis, dressed in medieval armor, leaning against the door frame of an opulent bedroom, arms crossed over his chest and smirking at Harry, who was happily laying, naked and wanting, in his bed.
Louis bathed in sunshine, face glowing with happiness, leaning down slowly to press a smiling kiss to Harry’s lips under the shade of an apple tree.
Harry’s eyes shot open.
“Fu-uck,” he groaned, fingers frustratedly digging into his own curls.
Louis, Louis, Louis, Louis.
Every single time he closed his eyes since the accident, fucking Louis, in every raunchy, bodice-ripping, historical fantasy Harry could think of, no less. It was ridiculous.
And, apparently, a real thing. Transference (thank you, Google); a trauma response, where a victim suddenly falls in love with— (“Fantasizes over,” Harry corrected determinedly, out loud) —the person who saved their life. Normal. Perfectly normal. And yet, still extremely inconvenient, given Harry’s savior also happened to be his lifetime rival.
But, like, whatever. No big deal, Harry reasoned, easily. He’d see his therapist, pop a few pills and get over the fantasies, no one the wiser.
Except, maybe, for the part where they didn’t really feel like fantasies, per se. They felt like… well… memories.
— Or, what is Harry meant to do when it turns out the person he’s hated all his life is actually the love of all his… other lives?
Based on an old tumblr prompt (that I now cannot find.)
✨ Send me a title for a fake fic and I’ll write a fake summary!

La squadra random headcanons part 6?
I love random and crazy headcanons so here you go! XD
Risotto:
sometimes embarrassed for melone
when he had a few drinks and the Italian football team is playing, he will rip off his shirt and chant along to the national anthem
Dyed his hair once neon pink together with Illuso
wants ghiaccio to be happy, that's why he always gifts him handmade cookies he made
Prosciutto:
loves theatre and always drags pesci with him to watch them
loves open air events and everything that you can do in summer
only wears his hair open when he's not on a mission
polishes his shoes daily
Melone:
can dance the whole "dance" to KATRINA KATRINA KATRINA!
almost got beaten up by ghiaccio for winning in lets dance
dries himself in the sun, because he "wants to save water"
knocks on different doors at 3 am just to annoy his teammates
Illuso:
his secret wish is to brush prosciuttos hair
the only one with really smooth and silky skin
sometimes he is just in a bad mood because he needs a hug
farted in formaggios face while he was asleep (ghiaccio recorded it)
Ghiaccio:
ILLUSO ALMOST CHOKED ON HIS WATER WHEN HE SAW HIM WITHOUT HIS GLASSES
he would never admit it, but he likes Frozen
owns a maid dress that melone gifted him (he sometimes wears it just because...)
he is a blushing mess behind doors
Pesci:
still owns a walkman and a collection of old CDs
likes the smell of bread on Sunday when prosciutto bakes
when he was asleep one time, Formaggio drew him a chin with ink, getting smacked by prosciutto for doing so
would love to travel the world if it wasn't for his risky job
Formaggio:
even though he is all fun and stuff.. HE IS SO DONE WITH EVERYONE
thought about moving out
but he is the team's sunshine and he is very respected, even though you can't tell it always
burns all the cookies and made the microwave explode
under kitchen arrest
