You went inside with Lola to tuck Leean tuck in for the night since the boat ride put her right to sleep, then you headed back out, making your way straight to the alcohol for you felt yourself spiraling and the one person you needed to catch you was dead and gone.
The sun was now setting as you made your way through the all of the people, not knowing a single face. Feeling alone in a crowd was so overwhelming.
Once at the wine table, you found it to have an array of colorful spirits in which you chose a purplish one to sample. You wondered if Narcisse had done that on purpose for you as you looked around for him.
You poured a cup and brought it up to your curious nose, inhaling what smelled of plums and strawberries. As you let it rest in your mouth to savor the taste, you realized there was nothing strawberry about it. Shrugging it off, you swallowed it thinking all of the cake you ingested threw your taste buds off, then you drank the rest and poured another, for it was still absolutely heavenly.
"Mind if I join you?"
Choking on your drink with a scream, you spun around to find the strawberry scent you had smelled. Your missing Marchwarden, Haldir.
"Jesus Haldir. Is it possible for you to ever NOT be so damn quiet?" you panted as you clutched your chest.
"Apologies. Normally, you would have smelled my approach."
His blue eyes gleamed in the moonlight with sadness inside of them.
"No...Haldir...I'm sorry. I did pick up your scent actually, but I thought it was the wine. I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's just....where have you been?? I...I thought..."
The blonde elf noticed your eyes slightly tearing up.
"You thought I had left you...." he softly said before you could say it.
"Well....yeah, I guess I did after what you saw. Everyone else has left, including Garrett. That should make you happy."
"I am not everyone else and it does not make me happy to see you in pain Jo. As far as Garrett, after what I saw, I am surprised you even noticed I was gone. Why did he leave?"
"It doesn't matter anymore. He's gone and he isn't coming back. Now, I am going to wash away this pointless day. Are you going to join me like you asked to do?"
You filled your cup again and knocked it back in one swig, then poured another.
"Your birthday is not pointless. I am quite elated that you were born or I would have never known you. I had went into the forest for the day to make you a gift. Happy birthday Jo."
Haldir laid a hair wreath upon the table consisting of white Baby's Breath and May Night Salvia, which reminded you of lilacs, only smaller.
"Oh my god...Haldir...it's...it's beautiful. You made this?"
"Yes, I...I wanted to make you another one since the last one I made you is gone. I had thought about going into the city to find a gift there, but I just really wanted to give you something from my heart to show you how sorry I am about all that has happened between us."
"Ahh yes the one you made of white flowers on our campout after leaving Rivendell. It's not gone. It's back in Mirkwood. I would never let anything happen to it."
"You mean Thranduil didn't toss it in one of the braziers or smash it under his foot?" Haldir quipped with a grin to try and make you laugh, and it worked.
"Ha! Fortunately no, for he never found that one. God....god I miss him, even his yandere side. It...it was only because he loved me. He died because he loved me, trying to find my god forsaken mother to make up it up to me about knowing she was alive. I wish she would have stayed dead! How can I loathe the woman I used to adore so much???"
"Because you were only a child who did not know of her evil and you trusted her as a child would."
"And I trusted her still once I found her and now my husband is dead. Ugh, I'm sorry. I must sound like a broken record, always talking about these things. Haldir, the crown is beautiful. I will cherish it always."
"Talk about anything you wish if it makes you feel better. And...I..I picked the purple flowers for you but they could represent Thranduil and the white ones, you, since you are a white witch. I thought it would remind you of him and...."
You threw your arms around him midsentence, squeezed him tight and softly spoke into his ear.
"Even after everything, I know you're the only one I can truly count on or truly understands my pain and you don't have a hidden agenda, you simply just want to be my friend. You could have left and honestly I wouldn't have blamed you, but you didn't. Sometimes I feel like I made a mistake with...."
You pulled back before the wicked wine made you say too much, for you had feelings for Haldir once and they never did go away.
"A misssstake with??" he asked with hopeful eyes and a wishful smile.
"With....so many things. I...I've put you through a lot...and, you have died in front of me twice now and I just need to shut up now."
You gulped down another glass, then refilled and swallowed that one up too, trying not to let old feelings paired with lonely and intoxicated ones, get you caught up in the moment, for you refused to hurt him again....although you knew he still was.
"Someone is thirsty tonight." Narcisse acknowledged with a smile as he came walking up to Haldir's dismay. "I take it you like the purple one I had created for you?"
You wiped your lips with the back of your hand in embarrassment as the last clumsy swig slightly escaped the corner of your mouth.
"Umm, yes Stephane. It's delicious. Thank you."
"You definitely have thought of everything....purple. Since it's somewhat of a circus, I will not be surprised if Barney comes waddling through the grounds."
You accidentally spit your drink out and stood with your fingers over your lips as you stared at a completely serious Haldir. You didn't know if you were more surprised that he even knew who Barney was or the fact that you instantly thought of Garrett's witty comebacks because it was something he totally would have jested.
Narcisse eyed the elf in a challenging manner. "And what do we have here?" he sarcastically asked as he picked up your crown. "Heavy is the crown, but not in this case. A bit flimsy and cheaply made. Would blow away with the slightest of breeze if it did not tangle in your hair first."
"Oh stop it Stephane. Haldir made that for me as a gift and I happen to adore it as it came from his heart."
"And mine did not? Why is it that you aren't wearing it? Oh, yes, there is no room with the flower you wore in your hair in acceptance of our date tomorrow."
Haldir's eyes glided to yours in disbelief. "I am going to go find the wicked ale. I hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday Jo....and your date."
Off the Marchwarden marched, leaving you reeling at the warlock.
"You egotistical arrogant son of a..."
"Now Jo, there is no reason to..."
"To what? Tell you what you really are at times???" you snapped and walked off in a huff as Narcisse followed.
"Jo, wait...I am sorry. I shouldn't have said what I did. I will go and apologize to Haldir if that will make you happy. I do not like it when you are angry with me."
"Then don't be so cruel! If you truly cared for me as you say you do, you wouldn't do things that hurt me or those I care for. Don't waste your time apologizing to him for he won't accept it....and I would not blame him."
"Alright, hey hey..." he desperately said as he took your arms in his gentle grip. "Then I will apologize to you again. Sincerely Jo, I am sorry. I...I'm just...not used to someone like you and I do stupid things because...I just don't know how to do or say things the right way. I am really trying. The things I've done tonight, maybe a bit overboard but they came from my heart too."
You closed your eyes and sighed because as usual, he pulled you right back in. Stephane knew exactly the right things to say, even if he didn't know how.
"Stephane...I know this all came from your heart. I appreciate all of it, I really do... I mean, you baked me a freaking cake and I know how hard that was for you considering you've probably never even seen the inside of your own kitchen. I care for Haldir, very much and insulting him will not score you bonus points with me."
"I know...again, my lady, I am truly sorry. If I am being honest...and god help me because I would never admit this to anyone....ever...but...I guess I am...a little jealous. Jo, you know how much I care for you."
"I do...but what I don't understand is...why? You barely know me."
Narcisse looked at you with such heartfelt eyes and a smile that made you melt. "I don't know...but I do."
He did know. he knew you were that rare jewel of love he told you about that he had never experienced, and it had him completely frazzled. His hand raised and tenderly touched your cheek, then he lowered it as if he were scared to open up to you.
"How about we walk for a bit. I saw a psychic readings tent earlier. I would love to try that out, you know, for shits and giggles." you told him with a grin to take some weight off of him.
Narcisse chortled and extended his arm out for you to take it. "As you wish birthday girl."
Once at the tent, Stephane said he would wait outside for you, enjoying some ale at the beer tent that was nearby.
"Hello?" you skittishly asked as you entered to see a table with purple lighting, an empty chair and candles all around.
"Yes, hello there." A woman said a she came out from behind a beaded curtain. "Would you like a palm reading or a drawing?"
"Oh...my...umm...I think just a reading will do."
She laughed and sat down. "Most ask for both, but as you wish. Please sit. Let's begin. Can I have your hand please?"
You hesitantly sat down and slid your hand to her. Oh how Sarah would give you so much shit for this because you never believed in it...but now you did....and what happened next blew your mind.
"My name is Sara...no H...what is yours child?"
"Uh...uh...J..Josie." you stuttered, still processing what her name was. At least she looked nothing like your blonde best friend. This Sarah...or Sara, was a brunette and slightly older than her, reminding you of your mother's gypsy traveling days with how she was dressed.
"Alright Josie. Let me see what your lines and touch reveal to me."
She traced all over your palm with her index finger for what seemed forever as she never blinked in her studying gaze.
"Ahhh, longevity I see in your lifeline. You will live to a ripe old age."
You chuckled inside, knowing she was partially correct, for you would live forever and never age thanks to Thranduil's magic that flowed through your veins....and of course your parentage. Just another reason you felt your birthday to be pointless.
"But...not without complications regarding that...I see change in you, preservation of some sort. Yes...I feel it now...something very powerful, life altering."
All you could then think of was Matthew's words in your dream, that you would walk among the vampires one day.
"I also see...a woman, like me, holding...twins of red hair. You have a brother?"
"Uh well, I do but he is blonde and he is not a twin...but...my mother had red hair and she herself was a twin. Maybe that is what you are seeing?"
"Hmmm...strange. She traveled yes?"
"Yes. I was actually just thinking about that. She dressed a lot like you from what I can remember. I was very young."
"Ahhh I see. A gypsy traveler such as myself. I sense she was powerful...oh myyyy...she was a...dhampir?"
"Well, she was only a witch until her travels took her to the wrong place. She then had another daughter, my half sister that also has red hair, maybe she is who you are seeing as my sibling, appearing to be a twin to you??"
"Hmm, no. I am certain I see a boy."
"So...you're getting all of this from my palm??"
"No...I...I just know it from your presence. I can't explain it. I see visions when I touch someone."
"Oh believe me...I know what you mean. I recently experienced a vision through touch of an object."
"You do, don't you? You have intuitive powers yourself. I feel it, it's like a sizzle in your skin,"
"I do, yes. Just not so much about myself."
"You're a dreamer though. Your answers come mostly through sleep, when your mind is the most vulnerable."
"They do, but sometimes never make any sense. Nothing does anymore."
"You...you have been abandoned by many...I see...a man....tall, long blonde hair, blue eyes...."
"Oh my god, Thranduil???"
You sat straight up with large hopeful eyes that stung of oncoming tears.
"Is he your father? I greatly sense the man is paternal. I see the letter J...."
You closed your eyes in great disappointment as you slouched back down, for you so wished Thranduil was trying to contact you again.
"No....my father is Julian...well for all intents and purposes anyways and he is missing. Can you see where he is? Is he alright??"
"No, I cannot place his whereabouts, for there is blackness all around him. You believe this man is not your birth father? Because everything in me says he is."
"What?? That can't be...he told me....wait, you said his eyes are blue...both of them??"
"Yes, very much indeed, blue as the sea. Kind eyes that are trapped..."
"Oh my god...daddy...was it all a lie??? Did he not know?? My mother...did she lie?"
"I wish I had all of your answers Josie, but that is all I am seeing regarding this man. I do see you suffer a broken heart? You are lost, for you have lost a great love, but...that love is not gone?"
"Well...no of course it's not gone. It is an eternal bond, even in his death."
"I..I can feel that but...something is amiss...I'm having a hard time seeing it...like something is blocking me, or someone. There is a wall...this person is extremely powerful....I feel they have suffered a life altering experience as well....but I cannot see them, I can only feel their energy."
"That's because it is my King you feel. He did suffer. He...died. My husband. The way it happened, well...that is probably why you feel something is amiss. We never found his body....."
"No...it is something more. A war of the mind and heart...a soul fights to be free....something evil detains them....something evil is coming to all of middle earth! He...he wants to release them....all of them...."
"He?? My husband???"
"Noooo!! The devil............"
The woman began to hyperventilate and then you saw an apparition form beside her, one you knew well and wished you never had.
You flung up out of your chair, knocking it over as you yourself gasped for air at the horrendous sight.
"P...P...Peter??? It..it cannot be!"
A harsh wind roared through the tent as Peter's deformed image jerked about, scaring the hell out of you as he stared you down with his sinister dark eyes.
"You can see me...good. I'm coming for you Josephine."
You couldn't breathe. Was this really happening? You certainly didn't drink that much, did you? Were you...dreaming??
"He will bring me back and when he does, I will get you my pretty and your little girl too!!!!!"
You screamed a shrill scream and tripped over the chair as you stumbled your way out into the gawking crowd.
Narcisse heard your cries and came speeding over to you as you ran straight for him like a locked on rocket, launching yourself into his arms.
"He...he....he is in here! He's...coming...Stephane...I..."
"Jo, Jo, look at me! Who is in there??"
When you refused to let him go and speak, he pried you from him and went racing into the tent to find it completely empty.
He then rushed right back to you and took your crying face into his hands.
"Jo, tell me love...what did you see? There's no one there."
You couldn't speak, only gasp for air like a frightened child as tears trickled from your huge eyes.
"Alright, come with me. Let me take you away from the gaping people. There's nothing to see here. Go about your business as you were!!!" he shouted at them as he walked you off, tucked inside his arm.
Narcisse led you to the bay, but you broke free of his hold and ran straight to the wine table, picking up an entire carafe and guzzling from it as your hands profusely shook.
"Jo. Jo! No, put that down." he ordered and grabbed it from you. "Talk to me. Please. What happened?"
"Give it back!" you shouted as you finally found your voice and snatched it out of his hands. This time you poured a glass and drank it down, then closed your eyes and heavily sighed.
"I...I saw him...the man...who hurt me all those years ago, b..be..before I found my way to Mirkwood."
"Yes, I remember you telling me about it but you were vague. Jo, isn't he dead?"
"He is and now he is haunting me from the grave!"
"Who Jo? Who is he??"
"I don't want to say his name. Please don't make me say it Stephane, please!" you cried. "Please, just h..hold me."
"You don't have to say it sweetheart. God, come here."
He cradled and lightly rocked you while you trembled and sobbed for a good ten minutes.
"Shhhh, don't cry. whatever's happened, it's over now. I won't let anyone hurt you. Come on, dry your eyes now and just tell me what happened. You do not have to say his name."
You reluctantly let go of him and he then tenderly wiped your tears for you as his kind eyes gazed into yours, assuring you that you were safe. You went on to tell him all that occurred and of course, Narcisse became upset.
"I will find that woman and she will pay for this, scaring you half to death like that!"
"No, Stephane, she didn't do it. I swear...I know what I saw. Even she was affected by his evil."
He sighed as your tearful eyes defeated him. "Alright. I will do as you ask once more."
"So what do you think about my dad...with what she said...do you think my mother lied about Jareth being my real father? You knew them all back then."
"I wouldn't put anything past that despicable dhampir. Even as a human witch I knew Caroline was pure evil. The vampire venom only made her worse, but that was because she already had a black heart. I am sorry to say this to you Jo, but when I had heard she passed when you were a child, I was overjoyed, for Julian suffered in silence far too long, all so she wouldn't disappear with you. One of the smartest things he ever did was hide that book and place that spell on her so that she could not touch you. For christ sake, look what she did to you, making you believe you had killed your own father. Wretched witch. She will never hurt you again."
A loud boom and crackling sounded, scaring you right back into Stephane's arms as the fireworks exploded over the water. Narcisse smiled as he snuggled you close, loving that you chose him for comfort over running to Haldir.
"Would you like to go to the bay and watch?"
"Y...yes..." you squeaked. "But...just don't leave me. You can't leave me."
"I will never forsake you my lo...lady."
You caught what he almost said and peered up into his intense eyes, seeing the reflection of the fireworks in them. In the moment, you wanted to believe him and you also wanted to kiss him, but instead, you freed yourself of his arms and grabbed the carafe and two cups, then walked off to the bay's inlet with him right at your heels.
You poured yourself and Narcisse some wine, then you both stood silently beside each other and watched the sky light up in many shades of lavender in which he did all for you.
A good half an hour went by with many more colors lighting up the night besides purple and many more drinks were consumed by you to try and block out what happened and enjoy the rest of the night.
"I have a few more surprises for you Jo." he said with a curled grin.
"As if you haven't done enough Stephy. You're spoiling me."
"Stephy huh? Ahhh and yes and you deserve to be spoiled. I want you to see what you can have if you decide to stay here with me. My offer is still open and always will be. I want to protect you, make you feel safe. I...have a room for you now that just became available. Well, I made it available for I know you and Leean need your own space and privacy. It is right across the hall from my room, so if you ever need me, I will be right there. I promise, there are no rats in your bath annnd, I even had a gramophone put in there for you so you can listen to your record. All of your things and Leean's have been put in there and there is room for Lola too but tonight she is in her room with Leean letting her sleep. I...hope this..pleases you?"
"Stephane...yes, of course it does. How thoughtful of you. Thank you, truly for all you have done."
"Oh, I am not done my lady." he continued with another grin, this one a bit sly as he raised his hand in the air.
"Stephane...what have you done now?" you giggled.
"Close your eyes."
He came up behind you and placed his hand over your eyes and whispered sensually into your ear. His warm peppermint breath made you tingle all over, just like when he guided you in aiming an arrow.
"Make another wish..."
He removed his hands for you to see the black sky now filled with sky lanterns as a group of men stood at the water's edge releasing them into the air.
"Stephane, it's so...beautiful."
"Yes...it is. " he said as he looked at you. "Go ahead, make your wish."
You gulped down your wine and closed your eyes, this time making your wish out loud. A silly wish as you were feeling pretty damn good now.
"I wish...I could fly like up there too!" you squealed in excitement as you laughed, almost falling over.
"Easy now." Narcisse also laughed as he steadied you. "There's no drinking and flying allowed here."
"Silly Stephy, I cannot fly anyways. But a girl can dream. The feeling is so surreal."
"You mean...when you flew with Garrett..."
"Ok, why did you have to go and mention his name?? I was having a good time." you snapped as you hiccupped, although Narcisse was right, you had thought of Garrett when you said that.
"I...am sorry? I did not know you were...having troubles with him? I mean, from what I last saw this morning, you looked quite cozy..."
"Stephane! Stop! He abandoned me just like everyone else does. To hell with him! You fucking jerk Garrett Lee!" you shouted at the sky.
"Ok, Jo...Maybe you should slow down on your wine..."
"Maybe you should not tell me what to do!"
"Jo? Are you alright? I could hear you shouting." Haldir asked as he came up with his beer mug in hand.
"She is fine Haldir. Your presence is not needed."
"Do not speak as if I am not standing right here! And stop being mean to him Nar...Narcccc.... Narcissssse!!"
Your words were now becoming a bit jumbled, but that didn't stop you from going back to the wine table for more since the carafe was now empty. As you filled your cup, you heard Narcisse and Haldir speaking...and you heard what was said too. Stephane was telling Haldir what happened in the tent.
"What the hell Narccc...St...Stephane! I said I didn't want to talk a..about that and here you are bllllabbing it to Hal...Haldir. I mean, haven't I been blindsided enough tonight?? I feel like my head is going to burst!"
"Jo...I was only telling him because he wanted to know why you are so..."
"So what?? Drink?? I mean drunk?! Big freaking whoopty dooooo! As if neither of you ever get sauced, right Haldy?? I've seen you and Lego...Leggy that way many times...God...Leggy...he hates me now. He just left me too like I mean nothing. Just like my dad did...AGAIN, who may be my real dad after all...and my King the love of my life, my Thrandy!!! The psycho errr psychic lady didn't even see him at all! and fucking Roman the vampire King who loves Bon Jovi...did you know that? That's what that record is. I stole it from him because...because it has my theme song on it...Garrett and I danced and sag to it like maniacs. It was so fun to be normal....Ooooooh she's a little...runaway!!" you sang as loud as you could. "Cause that's what I wanna do...run the fuck away...no...no...better yet...I wanna fly!!! I wanna fly waaay up there and find Thranduil and be with him forever like I was supposed to be! I wanna go to the other side with him. Do you hear me???!" you screamed at the sky. "I want to fly away!!!!!! I so wish it!!!"
Another scream arose from your lungs as your feet lifted off of the ground and you slowly began to ascend into the air before Haldir could grab your legs. You panicked as your balance was non existent with nothing to grab onto. Higher and higher you went as you struggled to stay upright.
"Jo!! Don't move! It will only make it worse!" Narcisse shouted up to you. You were so far up that he and Haldir looked as small as ants.
"Stephane!!! Help me!! I don't want to fall!!!!"
"Hold still! I am coming!"
Narcisse shot right up like a bolt of lightning and in only seconds, he had you in his arms.
"I've got you. Hold on to me. Don't look down!"
You gasped and panted as you locked your arms around him so tight, burying your face into his neck. Slowly, you felt yourself descending and before you knew it, your feet were on the ground. You stood whimpering, still glued to Narcisse as you shook terribly, afraid to let go of him.
"Jo...you're ok now. We are on the ground. You can let go."
You opened one eye and peeked down from his shoulder for validation to see the earth beneath your feet, then and only then did you let him go.
"Oh my goddddd...I...I flew!!!!! Did you see that Haldy???" you squealed, jumping up and down and clapping as if only seconds ago, you weren't terrified for your life.
"Yes, Jo. Everyone here saw it. Are you alright?"
"Do I look alright?? I am over the moon...shit, I almost really was!! Holy hell, if G could see me now. I wonder if I got it from my dad or from G's blood! Like I could race him...well that's if I can even do it again or if he even comes back...I need to try and practice so I can go find him..."
"Ohhh no no no you don't." Narcisse barked and took your hand in which you jerked it away.
"There you go again, being all kingy...I will do as I please if you haven't fifured...figured that out by now. Don't you have a throne to go sit in or something?? I wanna talk to my elf."
Narcisse knew you were inebriated but he was till hurt as his eyes lowered in humiliation.
"Very well then. I will just go inside and sit on my non existent throne then. Have a good evening. Haldir..."
Stephane gave the elf a head bow and left without even looking at you.
"Jo, sweetheart. I realize you are extremely upset, and understandably so. I will not tell you what to do, but I will give my advice. The vintage is not helping you and you will regret all of this in the morning. I am not defending Narcisse, but he was only trying to help you. If not for him, you could have fallen because you know I cannot fly. I for one am very grateful he was here."
"Oh Haldy, you are just too good for your own britches. No wonder I adore you so...and you're always freaking right. Do you know how much I hate it when you're right? Thanks...now I feel like shit."
"Narcisse cares for you. He will forgive you. Why do you not just go speak with him."
"Just as you always forgib me..for...forgive. Did I ever tell you I hate it when you're right??"
Haldir smiled. "Many times Jo. Go on. I will happily go back to the cellar for more of this amazing ale. If you need me, just come to get me alright? I'll walk you to the door."
"Allllright...fiiiiine. I suppose I better apologize. God, I hate it when you're right."
Haldir chuckled and extended his arm for you to balance on as he took you back to the castle.
As you went inside, you saw Narcisse come out of his office down the hall. You trotted off after him, your hard soled boots clacking on the stone floor, echoing through the hall. Narcisse hear them and turned around with a shocked smile on his face.
'You..." you said with a grin.
"What have I done to offend you now?"
You went right up to him with a little stumble and took the collar of his jacket into your hands.
"Could sex with you be simple and casual, you know, just for fun, because god I need some fun."
He tilted his head at you with astonished eyes at your bluntness, knowing it was the alcohol causing you to be so forward.
All he could do was smile and so you kissed him, reeling in the way his lips felt upon yours and his taste of peppermint as your tongue found his. In all of your excitement, you found yourself biting his bottom lip.
"Owww." he softly said in shock and brought his fingers to his lip, then smiled at you.
"Well aren't you just being bad."
You ridiculously smiled quite big. "I am sorry...and I am so sorry for how I acted. let me take you back to my new room and show you how sorry I am."
"Apology accepted but Jo...no. When I am ever with you...I want the real you. Not like this. Go on now. Go to bed and sleep this off. I will be in my room next door if you need me but only for help in case you have a bad dream or something. I will see you tomorrow for our date, yes?"
"Yeah ok whatever then. Your loss. Try not to dream of me." you retorted sarcastically and walked away.
Narcisse watched you turn the corner and went to leave, but stopped when he heard you shout back at him.
"And you didn't even offer me a bath. You always offer me a bath!"
He then smiled and continued on his way.
Finally you made your way to your new room after getting lost for about five minutes as your vision was quite impaired. You wanted to go be with your baby but you knew you shouldn't do that in your condition.
Your new room was quite spacious as Narcisse said and sitting there on a desk was the gramophone he told you about. Next to it sat your record.
You wobbled your way over to it and took the record out of it's sleeve, then placed it on the player and wound it up, dropping the needle in a random spot.
You instantly knew the song and immediately thought of Garrett as you listened to the lyrics, for you new it was exactly how he felt about you.
You found more wine and poured a glass as you became upset again, then closed your eyes and began dancing around with it, shouting the words. You made your way to the balcony doors and flung them open, screaming the words at the sky, then shouting at Garrett.
"Do you see what you've done?? Are you happy now??!! I hate you!!"
You slammed the doors shut and ripped the record off the player, whipping it across the room like a frisbee, then tossed yourself on the bed, bawling your eyes out....loudly.
"Jo???" Narcisse shouted as he came in.
"What do you want?? To make me feel unwanted all over again with your games you so love??"
"Jo, no! What is going on? I could hear you from down the hall on my way to my room."
"As if you don't know what's going on!" you yelled as you stood up and grabbed his vest in your fists.
"Jo stop this! I know you're angry. I know you're in pain, but this is not like you."
"You don't even know me!"
"I know you very well. I know that you have so much pent up anger with nowhere to place it and so you're lashing out at everyone who cares about you."
"Cares about me?? Everyone who supposable cares about me is gone!!"
"No they're not! Haldir is still here. I..am still here! I am still here Jo!!"
You lost your balance and dropped to the bed, still clutching Stephane's vest tightly and he lowered himself with you to his knees.
"You don't know what it's like to be me Stephane. I have to face the rest of my life alone and I don't know how to do it. i have tried so hard to be strong for my daughter but I just can't do it anymore! I..I don't believe in anything anymore. not in fairytales, not in love...nothing! I had it all and it was ripped away from me. Like an entire chapter of the book of love was just torn out and shredded right in front of me."
"If you believe anything in this cruel world...believe this. You are not alone."
His eyes were glassy as if tears were forming while he held your face in his hands, tenderly stroking your jawline with his thumb....The way he looked at you was so genuine and in that moment, you believed he actually did know why he cared when he had said he didn't know. He then he slowly leaned forward and kissed you gently.
The way he kissed you was so loving and it felt so damn good. So much so that you became carried away and began kissing him back passionately in which he didn't fight it this time....at least not right away.
His breathing and your breathing became heavy as soft moans escaped your lips. Your lips were pressed together so tight that you were surprised either of you could breathe at all as your noses were crunched into each other's cheeks.
Narcisse gasped and pulled back for air.
"No, Jo...This can't happen. Not tonight. I should not have kissed you."
"Yes you should have." you proclaimed and kissed him again, this time pulling him on top of you. The kissing deepened and you could feel his arousal on your hip bone as he pressed against you.
You brought one of your legs over the back of his as you held him firmly against you, afraid he was going to stop and god, you did not want him to stop....but he did.
Stephane pushed up off of you. "No damn it Jo...I will not do this. Not when you're drunk. I will not wake up in your bed tomorrow morning and see the regret in your eyes. I will not do this to you and if you want to be angry with me, then so be it. I care for you too much and if this does not show you that, then I do not know what else will."
You sat up and just stared at him for a moment, for now you truly believed him.
'Al..alright. But...but please don't leave. Could you at least stay with me until I fall asleep? I...I don't want to be alone like this...especially after the Pet...what happened in the reading. I...I'm scared Stephane...."
Your eyes welled up and you lowered your head to hide your tears from him.
"Of course sweetheart. Scoot back up there on your pillow and I will tuck you in."
You did as he asked, pulling the blankets down and kicking your boots off, then you laid back as he covered you up.
"Will you sit beside me? Just so I can feel you here."
He gave you a sweet nod and sat down by your head, leaning against the headboard and bringing his feet up onto the bed. You then snuggled your face into his side, breathing him in as you laid your arm over his stomach. The last thing you felt before you drifted off to immediate sleep was his fingers stroking your hair.
As you slept, danger lurked in the forest where you and Garrett had last been. The warlock he had scared into falling to his death, did not fall to his death, but had been fighting his way up the cliff side from the narrow ledge he had fallen onto.
As he reached the top, he stood up panting and saw the other guard's burnt remains that the breeze was slowly blowing away.
"You will pay for this, you bitch and so will that vampire." he growled under his breath and headed back to the castle.
