The fact is, no Gwynriel or Elucien or Quinlar shipper will EVER “win” an internet debate with an Elriel or Bryceriel shipper.

You see, because their arguments are not based in any kind of reality; they can literally keep making them up forever. They will never run out of steam, will always have infinite clap backs.

When you don’t care about canon, anything goes! Once you’re willing to just absolutely make things up out of thin air, your arguments are whatever you want them to be and you’ll never run out. Azriel is Elain’s “true” mate, or the Cauldron *would* have chosen him if only he hadn’t been injured. Bryce smelled bread and roses and that means Azriel and Elain are living happily ever after at the townhouse. A prophesy from another planet linking their weapons proves Azriel is Bryce’s endgame at the last minute. Something, something the Orion myth, Hades/Persephone, no: Bridgerton! Blah, blah, blah…

They can go on like this forever making up any bullshit comes to them, and all we can say in response is “there’s no evidence in the book for that.” And they’ll eventually go “I’m entitled to my opinion! You’re not SJM so you don’t KNOW! Lots of people agree with me!!! Stop being so rude!”

We who care about reality are just stuck with the canon evidence that SJM has given us. And there hasn’t been anything new of that in almost 2 years. We can repeat our arguments ad nauseum on every post, on every platform. We’ll just be the same old broken records with our screenshots of the book and they’ll have an endless string of nonsense to throw at us.

Okay so obviously you Cannot go through a giant vetting process for everyone involved in a post before you reblog it, Every Time. But you can do bare minimum stuff.

You see the red highlight around OP? That’s from my browser extension Shinigami Eyes. That highlight means op is a terf, and that reblogging their stuff gives them notes and exposure. I didn’t have to vet them for that to find out because I have the extension.

You don’t have to expend a bunch of energy. Get shinigami eyes. Block tags like #terfsdointeract, #lizardpeople, etc. And then you can know immediately upon seeing a post that it’s shit.

You don’t need twelve step bg checks. You don’t have to memorize all the dogwhistles. But you Can take steps to stop yourself from accidentally reblogging beginner bigot beliefs and blogs very easily.

I have stopped posting with the same frequency as i was bc i am working on commissions and drawing takes time but i might just keep a more sort of closed parasocial relationship/ treat Tumblr more as a portfolio than as social media if that keeps happening... Sorry that i rant in here a lot but it's genuinely exhausting sometimes when most of your mutuals on this app are getting rude anons...

The Metallica tag has way too much Stranger Things stuff in it right now. I’m happy that people are getting into Metallica thanks to an admittedly meh show, but I’m not really a Stranger Things fan at all so this is getting on my nerves.

I totally understand bc in other situations I felt irritated even for the things that ended up in my dash bc maybe some blog that i followed and loved went down a fandom rabbit hole that i found annoying.

There are two failproof way to deal with this.

#1: BLACKLIST THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR HEART.

Do it. Do it and your Tumblr experience in general would improve so fucking much. I use it even to avoid spoilers!

Because tunglr's tagging system is so fucked up, even if you passingly write the word Metallica, that post is gonna end up in the main tag page (as now there is an ITALIAN POST that has the word "Metallica" in it bc metallica is an adjective in italian, so some 'detritus' will always remain, mind you. But it will be so little that it will not bother you much.

(i suggest you blacklist also the content of the post not only the tags bc as i said tunglr doesn't care and slaps everything in the tag page + sometimes ppl don't tag and if they don't tag, the blacklist function won't work)

#2. W A I T

Yep. That's also a thing. And I'm not writing it in a passive aggressive way. Because now we are in the middle of the popculture explosion of the thing, so everyone is writing Abt the character and the show and the scene every day, a lot of times per day. It will not be like that in a month. It would become the occasional 'detritus' in the tag, like those ppl whose post is about going on a trip with their dad and they list what bands where on the radio.
