I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

Okay 3 things

1. I was thinking about an aroace Sonic who says things that can be taken as wildly flirty/romantic but he just means them genuinely. “You have beautiful eyes, I keep getting distracted while looking at them,” not cause he’s interested romantically in them but because eyes can be really cool and pretty man I dunno what to tell you he likes looking at cool things and he thinks his friends are neat. “You’re the most beautiful person here,” because he really thinks that, he loves his friends

2. Sonic randomly dropping heartfelt genuine comments on his friends out of the blue completely blindsiding them and then moves on like nothing happened while they’re left going ?????? Bonus points if he does something immensely stupid or jerkish just before or immediately afterwards and they can’t tell if he was serious or not with the compliment (yes he was)

3. Sonic usually being so allergic to truly vulnerable moments that when he expresses something heartfelt randomly Tails thinks he’s been stabbed or something and does not believe him when he reassures him that he’s fine he’s fine he’s not dying yeesh

do u think physical build is an important part of being security? im 5'5 and think i look very timid, but ive seen some entry level security job listings around me that ive been interested in.

I've only been private security for around five years, so I'm still relatively green compared to my colleagues, but I personally am about 5'3" and I've been doing great!

And again, I'm not incredibly experienced, but if I were to make a hire, I'd be prioritizing a number of things before considering height.

Physically you need to be capable of doing your duties without pain- so if you have chronic pain, foot patrol may not be your bag, but CCTV monitoring might work. If you can't drive, being a site manager may not work, but working door duty somewhere local might be.

Physical presence- in regards to 'looking timid'- is something that you can work on if you want to, but sometimes an unassuming appearance is your advantage.

A "problem demographic" (using HEAVY quotations there) for a lot of places like malls and downtown areas is adult women with trauma, addiction, and mental health issues- they're seen by a lot of clients as "crazy ladies" and treated less like people by the general public, and a good number have very good reason not to trust men ESPECIALLY in uniform, but are more often than not perfectly easy to get along with if you're polite, respectful, and don't come off as a threat or authority figure. Being able to offer menstrual products and having resources around the area you can recommend is good, too.

And if I HAVE to move people out from behind buildings and such, saying "fuck off asshole" like folks imagine is NOT as effective as "Hey, sorry, this area is restricted, but here are some other places that might be okay- I need to do another check in about an hour, so heads up, and the church up the street is doing hot chocolate right now".

Really, if you want to do well in security- at least basic work- I'd say you want to focus on the following:

Wear your uniform and keep it tidy

Show up prepared and on time

Be able to approach strangers and talk to them

Keep a positive, non-agressive attitude, and be willing to give people the benefit of the doubt

Learn deescalation techniques to diffuse conflict

Have a strong handle on your personal emotions and opinions

Kerp calm and rational in an emergency

Learn basic first aid and get certified if you can, it's not technically necessary but I've used that more than I'd like to admit

Keep a strong moral compass

Really, I'd say it boils down to keeping to your sense of ethics, showing up on time, and knowing how to follow orders with nuanced interpretation.

Beyond that, you're golden

Sometimes I wonder what Jiang Cheng could've become if his parents didn't instill a mix of "crippling fear of failure" and "impossibly high standards" in him. Cuz like, his dad was holding him to the vague standard of being as good as wwx, his mom yelling at him whenever he goofed around like wwx, and then both of them expressed disappointment when he's less successful than wwx. The thing both of them seem to ignore though is that wwx got where he is entirely because he had the freedom to fuck around and find out- he trained tirelessly because he made training fun for himself, he was innovative as a cultivators because he experimented and persisted through failures, and he was able to act in line with the Jiang clan moto because his actions had less political pull than members of the main family. Jiang Cheng on the other hand- if he fucked around he got told to "stop stooping to the level of servants." If his achievements were lesser than wwx's, he got either dismissed by his dad or yelled at by his mom to try harder. And if he picked fights with the Wens, they'd have an excuse to destroy his clan. Like ya- no shit that'd create an adult who's terrified of failure.

The kite game serves as such a good metaphor/embodiment of this set back- with Jiang Cheng never being able to shoot as far as Wei Wuxian because he pulls back and shoots closer the second he misses.

And its sad too because he's shown to be pretty brilliant when he's in "fuck it, we ball" mode. Like, when he's not freezing up, he manages to pull off things like rebuilding his entire clan from the ground up, leading armies and taking back territories from the Wens, and I'm fairly sure he's the only character we see counter the Lan music cultivation techniques (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that last one. Also feel free to add any of the other cool shit he did that I'm blanking on at the moment, cuz I know I'm forgetting something).

That being said- even with his anxiety, he's still one of the top cultivators. Imagine what a force of nature he'd be if he could sustain "fuck it we ball" mode

May I ask what were the best transformers media you ever saw/read?

Well Transformers Prime, Transformers 1986 and IDW comics are having the first place that’s for sure

And then the second place is kind of shared by Fall of Cybertron, Exodus, Prime wars trilogy, Robots in disguise(2001) and Transformers One.

The third place goes to G1, Animated, Earthspark, Armada, War for Cybertron Netflix series, Aligned Robots in disguise, Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts and Cyberverse because I only liked some little parts of them.

And then I also saw some of the Bay movies, Victory and Headmasters and didn’t like them at all.

Separate first place for J-Decker. It is not exactly Transformers but it is a show about giant robots and I loved it

Taash positivity post!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Taash genuinely means so much to me. They're just such a beautiful, important character that deserves all the happiness in Thedas. It hurts to constantly see so much hate directed towards them, so I'm putting more Taash love out into the world!

First off, I'd never heard a character say they were nonbinary before, so watching Taash discover who they are was so special to watch. A Little Dragon Hatches still makes me tear up every time, and getting to hear my Rook talk about their gender to them during that initial conversation just felt so deeply personal and relieving to hear. Some of the things Taash describe, both about gender and about how they feel things hit so close to home for me.

Their love of dragons and how excited they get whenever they hear the word "dragon" is just so endearing. I love when characters are passionate about something! Plus they're genuinely one of the funniest companions in Dragon Age. Half of their banters have me laughing and the other half has me crying.

And their relationship with Shathann!!! They way they love each other so much but they don't know how to show it, and they're just struggling with their culture and gender norms and all of it and they can never truly make up. They never get to talk it out. But Shathann still made sure that Taash knew that she accepted them and loved them in the end. Their final quest is one that makes me sob every single time.

They check on Karash! They feed the birds! They're the dragon hunter but they respect dragons so much and only kill them when necessary!!! And they care so much about their companions and Rook and they might not show it in a typical way but they love them so much!!!

Also they're adorable and gorgeous as hell!!! They're such a beautifully made character both in terms of writing and design.

Tldr: Taash is very lovely and I absolutely adore them

I love the college of winterhold. everyone there is casually deranged and there's like an alarming number of students and staff who threaten you immediately when they meet you. it's always one of the first questlines I do. which makes it even funnier when you get made the arch-mage of the college. I'm level 12 and got through this questline knowing exactly 3 spells. what do you mean you want me to lead the college. this school CANNOT be an accredited institution

finished rereading volume 3 last night and it's so wild to me that there are people who come out of this series hating Luo Binghe. he's expressing his deepest insecurities about being abandoned and unloved and useless and having the worst BPD episode of his life, and people somehow read that and think he's some horrible person?? get behind me Binghe, they don't deserve you

langdon and santos are both right about each other. langdon is right when he calls santos out for her mean streak while speaking to robby and santos is right when she brings her own concerns abt langdon’s suspected drug abuse to robby. like they’re both 100% right and valid in those moments. and i think it gives them this rly interesting dynamic where they’re just…transparent to each other. not WITH but to. as in they see right through the other’s mask even when other people don’t. and they mirror each other like crazy!!! they’re both extremely ambitious, cocky, restless, full of false bravado. but they’re also kind and gentle and sensitive and funny. they’re so alike but they also HATE each other and it is SO fun and entertaining while also speaking to a deeper level of their characters. something something self hatred subconsciously projected outward something something. idk i just think they’re neat and it’d be cool to see an enemies to coworkers who can actually tolerate being in the same room together arc. i need santos to be mean to him and for him to laugh and say something stupid and it’s all good bc the beef has been squashed and santos just shakes her head and walks away
