Thoughts/ Headcannons on HawkIvy?

They both have siblings who overshadow them in one way or another, so there's plenty of narrative potential there. I don't know where it goes long-term with Hawkfrost in the Dark Forest forever. So I guess it would have to be about either her saving his eternal soul, or him turning her evil, neither of which are super exciting to me. Maybe a bittersweet ending for Ivypool and a somber sign to Hawkfrost of what could have been in life, before he double-dies.

Manipulative evil "mentor" x character who's jealous of the attention her sister is getting is a dynamic with plenty of potential for a toxic relationship stuff. In that light, maybe it's best as a real bad relationship choice she made in her teens (dating some 20-something from Hell) that she grows and heals from.

Whenever I'm trying to answer an ask I need to prepare myself mentally beforehand, take breaks for every sentence I'm taking, close and open the draft several times, get distracted, get shivery, plan out and carefully calculate every single word I'm putting there lest I get a terrible grade at answering asks, relearn how to form sentences all over again, give up, receive a sudden boost of motivation to try typing not one, but another two! sentences more to the post, give my wheezing trembling body a mental break, restart- anyway process takes up from 1 day to several months. nonetheless i love answering asks they're my favourite thing in the world

Catch me major salty at canon because like, ok sure we HAVE to have forbidden romance every single arc whatever but HOW on earth was DOVETIGER a better option than ivytiger? Everything with the dark forest and their characters makes sense together and would have made for way better conflict and stuff going on but noooo dovepaw had to do it for some reason?? It just NEVER made sense to me, her and Tigerheart never had chemistry they were just together for the sake of “oh nooo it’s against the CODE to date in other clans”

ngl I am a HawkIvy enjoyer and HollyIvy enjoyer but I would have actually loved this???

Dove is one of my least favourite perspective protagonists anyway but you're so right about forbidden romance angle of IvyTiger would have been really interesting, and you could have essentially the same plot with the sisters!

Hawkfrost and Ivypool

Purely platonic narrative foils slowly developing HawkIvy yesss

At first Hawkfrost thinks she's an annoying little kid and fumes that he's saddled with her, but as the nights in the meadow go on he starts to enjoy teaching his eager, guiltless student. She reminds him of himself or Moth at that age, she's like the little sister he never had.

We already know Ivy's feelings about how Cool! this dead stranger is. It's weirdly wholesome out of context, but they ARE out of their respective contexts (ThunderClan and the Dark Forest). They're in this illusory meadow dream. (Hawkfrost is the only one aware of the illusion at this point.)

And as the arc progresses they uncover more about their situation and themselves. It works.

I think it's cool if Frosty and Ivy's feelings to each other were contrasting throughout the relationship.

Because while at first the kid adores him and he Does Not Want To Be Here, by the end, Hawkfrost is just so very proud of Ivypool – this kid that he molded into his own image – his only true friend and ally, and Hawkfrost is more dependent on her than she could possibly know. Now he's the one unaware of the illusion, blindly trusting Ivypool as she once did him.

All the while Ivypool is painfully aware of how horrible this all is, and what an evil guy Frosty is. She hates him. She hates how he lied to her face and how she believed him, how he was using her and corrupting her, how he brought out in her something so horrifying that she doesn't even begin to unpack it.

Like Ivypool can't shake the thought that... They're Not So Different. It terrifies her. It's not just the thought that she could have been like him. It's the thought that for a very short while, she was.

Hawkfrost and Ivypool are both so oblivious to how each other feels, and that makes their final battle all the more impactful. Ivypool defeating the abusive mentor she once admired, who made her who she was, and truly confronting her demons in a literal and metaphorical sense.

And then Hawkfrost, who's been lying to himself until the end, until the truth yeets him into oblivion.

(And it finally dawns on him in that very last moment that he has once again lost everything because he trusted someone who didn't care nearly as much about him. Hawkfrost is such a train wreck... but he's my train wreck. I love him)

Anyways I think the romantic angle wouldn't work at all with this. I prefer something closer to "the student has become the teacher".

🌌 Twilight - Favorite and least favorite ship

OOOOH hmmm. see i dont have a ton of ships in this fandom i just kinda vibe. like if you bring something up?? sure, cool. but they don't live in my head. is it completely predictable if i say swift/bright/cloud lol? in the interest of choosing a ship i Havent talked/written to death, nightsquirrel!! also this accidentally got long oops

i saw fanart ages and AGES ago and it honestly might have been crowsquirrel and im just misremembering, but it was like squirrelflight showing up in windclan with alderkit and sparkkit like "i didnt know where to go" and mhm it lives rent free in my head. i've tried to find it since but its been like 2 years so i just gotta accept its gone forerver.

also, look, i like crowfeather, but nightcloud and squirrelflight both have terrible husbands in canon and they should run away together.

i also have a hc (which i wrote into d2d!) that nightcloud was a loner because she never shows up until she's a full warrior, so squirrelflight, being from thunderclan and the daughter of an ex-kittypet, is one of the first cats to not treat her like an outsider even from another clan.

also they both have a connection to leafpool's weird messed up love life and both their kids were major players in the war between literal heaven and hell and idk i think thats funny. and they have a whole quiet & calm/bubbly & energetic dynamic that i love

fun fact Ospreytalon is actually an oc i had figured out a long time already because god ospreys are so fucking awesome go look up ospreys on google and tell me they aren't the best birb

Shrikeheart - black silver-and-white tabby molly with ice-blue eyes. does not get most jokes. has a strong sense of right and wrong, and often speaks up at gatherings whenever she doesn't agree with the leaders' decisions, which got her banned from attending them at all. spends most of her nights training in the dark forest, and has lost sight in one of her eyes from provoking the wrong cat. has a suprisingly high pain tolerance and does not get tired easily. whenever she's not in a battle, either in the living world or cat hell, she likes to practice swimming in the Thunderclan streams.

Irisflight - gray-and-white tabby tom with mint green eyes. a clever cat, and a incredibly quick thinker, Irisflight loves to play tricks on other cats, and generally mess with anyone he has decided to pick on for a the day. usually, he's pretty harmless though. has generally more friends from the bordering clans than his own, and there are some rumors around Thunderclan he might leave it completely one day, and settle down in another camp. usually the bets are on windclan, since last gathering a new apprentice was introduced, having his exact same body shape, color, patterning and eyes.

Ospreytalon - a long-furred dark brown-and-white tabby tom with blue eyes + appaloosa mutation. reserved and not a very talkative cat, he usually spends time away from the camp hunting or patrolling the borders alone. considered one of the most skilled hunters and fighters in Thunderclan, on par with being a good strategist and a quick learner, he's considered as a good choice for the future deputy (which doesn't help his feelings of being superior to every cat in the lake). all he needs to actually get that position, is just to train an apprentice. Ospreytalon isn't particularly warm towards younger cats though, so not sure how that might work out...

No it's perfect!!

I kind of addressed it in the reblog lmao but like. Here are some more solid ideas!!

The protective streak from Hawkfrost. I ADORE the idea of him not only protecting her from the Dark Forest but also helping her manage her emotions and feelings towards Dovewing. Telling her of how he was compared to the great Brambleclaw or the vicious Tigerclaw and how much that impacted on him. How he was overshadowed by Mistyfoot even when he was deputy in her place because she'd been trapped by Twolegs and how deputyship was stripped from him as if she was naturally better than him. This comparison helping them to grow closer and trust one another with other emotions, of secrets. Hawkfrost confessing that his father has forced much of his actions and he regrets turning on his brother because Brambleclaw and Mothwing were, for much of his living life, the only cats he truly felt close to.

God the idea of like. Just. Hawkfrost genuinely feeling loved by someone who isn't his kin. Training her now not only for this battle (or perhaps even in spite of it) but so she's strong enough to take on any cat. Encouraging her. Learning of how she's turning spy (seriously how did he not overhear that in canon?) and covering it up from the others. If it gets found out, he says yes, that was his plan, it's to figure out the Clans' movements because they've already worked it out thanks to StarClan
