I know number people want Hawks to find happiness through shipping but I just don't see it? I'm not dissing anyone's ship, they're meant to be fun. It's more I don't think Horikoshi is going to go the route of romance with Hawks. I feel like a happy ending for Hawks would be for him to accept himself.
With the amount of trauma (and being emotionally unavailable) it's kind of hard for me to see him settle for anyone we've seen. Fuyumi is closest character I can think of that could handle being in a romantic relationship with him. But she already has a lot on her plate and probably wants a partner who she can lean on for support. Not another person who she has to take care of or play mind games with. Since Hawks has major trust issues.
Which is why I see them more as friends. We're already getting a Jeanist friendship now (yay!). Shouto internship hopefully along the way as well as where his relationship with Endeavor will go. I just really like the idea of Hawks being surrounded by a support system that he's never had and finally acknowledging all the good he's done. Instead of focusing so much on his faults.
As much as I love shipping, I definitely agree with you about Hawks not needing it in the manga. Hawks path is learning to accept himself and he doesn’t need a romantic relationship to do that. Plus, this is a shonen manga so the only romance we’ll get is between the main characters and it’s not going to be good considering what we’ve seen of romance in shonen (I’m still angry that Ichigo never ended up with Rukia, fuck you Kubo).
I’ve never actually got the view that Fuyumi would be a good partner for Hawks. Is it because she’s nice? But there needs to be more then to just be a supportive partner to have a successful relationship. There needs to be chemisty of some kind and I just can’t see the two of them having it. Maybe it’s because as I said in a previous ask about disliking the ship due to how the fandom hypes it up as the “best” het ship for Hawks that I don’t see it, who knows?
I’d much more enjoy seeing Hawks just develop friendships in canon then any romantic relationship, to be honest. I think what Hawks needs at the moment is a good support system who helps him with his insecurities, like you said.
Hawks best ship is Hawks/Appreciating himself.

Idk how Horikoshi goes from a war arc to potentially a prison break arc. There's literally nothing stopping AFO, so I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being the next arc. This man wakes up and brings violence weekly and I can't tell when he feels like slowing down.
and the thing is most of us saw a prison break arc coming.. hori’s been subtly leading up to it, but none of us expected it to come so soon after this war.. there really isnt anything stopping afo and the noumu’s, and if all the villains in tartarus manage to get out.. carnage everywhere

I don't know about you, but Toga having Twice's blood really waters down the weight his death originally had. The betrayal, the difficult choice Hawks had to make, but most importantly losing a friend like that.
Not only for Hawks, but for Toga as well. Hawks was left with no choice but to kill his friend. Toga watched her friend die in her arms. Now he's suddenly back? Yeah it makes sense that she would have access to Twice's blood.
But why is it only until now that she could be using it, and not when he was alive when her quirk awakened? Does that mean there's a limitation to it because his quirk is more difficult than Uraraka? I hope so cause Twice just magically returning doesn't feel right.
Plus it makes the way she has to handle his quirk a bit more interesting.
I agree with you T-T
Toga getting Twice's blood was definitely one of the things I didn't want to happen in canon as I also feel it cheapens Twice's death. If Toga uses Twice's blood, it shouldn't come easy to her, both the use of his quirk (which is really ridiculously complex when you think about it) and the effect it should have on her mentally.
Twice is different from anyone else she's turned into before as she actually had a deep and strong bond with Twice that wasn't related to her "crushes" or her desire for blood so I'd definitely want that to effect her use of his quirk in some way.
I've got to admit though, I'm also confused why they didn't give her a vial previously as you said, when she had her quirk awakening as well you would have thought they'd definitely use it to their advantage. The only answer I can think of is that Hori didn't think about it at the time XD
I want Hori to subvert my expectations with Toga having Twice's blood and not just make her into the next threat of the clone army that Twice was.

Hi this is a little late but I just wanted to clarify something I saw in a different ask.
People get divorces in Japan and divorce has been shown in manga.
Tumblr media
This panel is from Gintama which is not only a manga but a shounen that was for the majority of its run published in shounen jump.
There's this and another example of a different character (a public figure) who actually gets a divorce. No one in the series makes a big deal about it.
So Rei divorcing Endeavor wouldn't be considered frowned upon by a cultural stance. It is purely a personal choice that she stays with Endeavor. But I also don't really see Horikoshi exploring divorce at this point. He just wants to get the story over with.
Tumblr media
Thank you @hawksoholic for clearing this up for me <3
So the anon was talking out of their ass, I'm not surprised, I get quite a few of them like that T-T

"You can't blame Dabi for being misogynistic because he's a child and Endeavor beat his wife."
Ok what about Shouto, he saw Endeavor beat Rei and went through abusive training yet we've never seen him make any misogynistic remarks. I'm not saying Endeavor's behavior should be excused either. He did play a role in the way Dabi views women imo.
But that doesn't mean we should just ignore the fact that Dabi still potentially hates women as an adult. Endeavor is just the root cause of it. He has little respect for Toga and I believe called her crazy. Though he's not wrong it's still disrespectful since they work together.
It’s a bit frustrating how quick people are to dismiss this part of Dabi’s behaviour just because Dabi is their favourite character and their favourite character can’t be a misogynist or express misogynist views.
Also, don’t they realise that usually this is how misogynists are made? They see people treat women as lesser people and they repeat that behaviour. Originally it isn’t their fault because they’re surrounded by that behaviour but Dabi was also surrounded by people who didn’t hold such views and saw they were wrong and still held them.
I’m not even sure if Dabi is a misogynist myself or if he just expressed his frustration with the females in the family not understanding his views (as they were older and were able to counter them/worry about them) in a misogynistic way however it sure is annoying that so many are quick to ignore such behaviour just because it’s their favourite who is doing it.
Whether Dabi still holds these views is hard to tell, really, considering that he hates everyone, but his treatment of Toga has been given a new light, that’s for sure.

So I saw a post on Twitter earlier about Chapter 303 and Hawks finding out about OFA. Basically since danger sense is a sensory type quirk (similar to Fierce Wings) Hawks can mentor Deku. So, Hawks is helping Endeavor and if possible mentoring Deku which means he'll become a major character in the series.
All those months of no Hawks were worth it!
Hawks saw his position in the story and was like: “I’m going to stick my feathers in every plot line” and then he did and I love him all the more for it.
Hawks revealing that his wings could sense danger in his flashback of his childhood was so interesting... It’s amazing how his quirk it appearing more and more to show how suitable it is for being a hero. I wonder if he could mentor Deku in using OFA in multiple ways considering his quirk is also basically multiple quirks throw into one... Hmmm...

Why can't people just let characters be evil. 😔
Like there is not a good bone in Sukuna's body and that is why I love him as a villain. Pure intellectual chaos. Plus there's so much we don't know about him, we don't even know the full length of his backstory.
Gege says Sukuna's not based on the myth but there's quite a few similarities between his OG form and the myth. So I'm wondering if he just means his backstory won't be the same as the myth. Since in some variations of the myth Sukuna was looked at as a hero in his homeland but was struck down by a man named Takefurukuma and his army.
Which is where some could be getting the idea that he's "morally grey" or least my guess as to how they came to that conclusion.
It's a lot to explain so I recommend reading about it here as it's very interesting (at least to me I love mythology).
Ooooh! Thank you for the link, I'll definitely give it a read!
And yeah, I really don't get this trend in modern fandom where people try and make villains with no remorseful bone in their bodies more tame and good then they actually are (*cough* Dabi *cough*). My guess is that this is also because purity culture is rampant in fandoms nowadays and if you're not condemning every horrible action than you're as good as endorsing it so instead these people try and twist the actions of these characters instead.
With Sukuna, the original myths probably also play a role (and don't get me wrong, if people want to explore that in fanon, by all means, it could be interesting even, but insisting it's canon when Gege has shown us otherwise is dumb and shows that they have no regard for canon or Gege's story <.<).
People need to learn to love villains for who they are <.< What happened to people saying: "this is my little meow meow" and then pointing at mass murderers XD

You know what would be really funny? The reason Hawks doesn't have his scruff anymore being Horikoshi just forgetting to draw it. I know he probably had a reason to shave it after removing his bandages.
But I can't stop imagining Horikoshi sending his chapter in and then being like ":o I FORGOT THE BEARD!" To himself and it's back on Hawks next time we see him I miss it already.
Considering that Hori has forgotten Hawks scruff on other occassions, I’m not denying the possibility that he simply just forgot to draw it XD Plus, with a time skip having already happened in the manga, maybe that’s enough time for his three chin hairs to grow back (which the fandom will probably cry over because there is nothing more hated then his chin hair).
Don’t worry... I miss him too T-T

So many things to unpack with the leaks. 1) FUCK Hawks slander 2) I need a Jeanist & Hawks friendship now that he's a free man 3) People have connected Hawks' backstory to Junji Ito & it makes me excited but also makes his story all the more heartbreaking 4) HIS WINGS 5) I'm wondering if fic writers (myself included) are going to continue using Keigo cause he's removed himself from the Takami surname so much he legit said he was unrelated to his mother.
I’m standing behind you with the FUCK Hawks slander because this fandom has reached a new low with it and I’m tired of it all. This baby bird deserves the world and I’m glad Hori seems to be giving it to him, slowly but surely (fuck all the ones who wanted him to suffer for choices he was forced to make but didn’t want to, I’m glad Hori doesn’t see it that way).
I’m loving the Jeanist and Hawks friendship (when you’ve been clowing yourself with Dad!Jeanist for so long and then canon just gives you it for free T-T I love this chapter so much), Hawks deserves it and I’m glad we know for sure that someone will be by his side.
And talking about clowning, I’m so glad that his wings seem to be growing back T-T I thought I was just clowning myself and everyone around me by being hopeful for them but I’m glad I wasn’t! I’m still not sure the extent of the damage to them but the fact that we know that he’ll fly again in some way gives me so much hope for them! Fuck yeah! Optimism payed off!
We also got the bonus of him finally being free from his shackles too T-T As painful as these leaks were at times, we were given so much hope for this birb and I’m living for it!
...That’s a good question, I’m curious how people will now handle Hawks and his name. I know some writers didn’t like using it to begin with because they felt like Hawks didn’t want his name back but now that canon seems to be backing that, I wonder if we’ll get more people doing that.
I wonder if there is something to be said how Hawks is a free man and still chooses to be Hawks. I think its kind of beautiful that he’s embracing the identity and all the good and the bad that comes with it.

So Horikoshi LOVES angst and with recent chapters a lot of people are bringing up how "Hawks will lose his wings" or "Hawks will retire as a hero" again. I know of the Phoenix theory but what are the details of how it'll work? I want to have some hope before this angst train is over.
Hmmm, the reason I personally enjoy the Phoenix theory more then Hawks losing everything is because the nature of BNHA itself (with it being a hopeful manga even in the depths of despair) and the fact that Hawks is a young victim of the story too and so him being punished for being a victim and being forced into horrible situations where he still tried to do what was best for everyone just doesn’t sit well with me.
(I just wanted to clarify, because I got distracted, that I view Hawks regaining his wings and becoming the hero he wants to be as symbolism for being a phoenix and that’s why I went on this giant rant but then forgot to adress your point. I’m so sorry T-T)
It’s why I’ve never been on board with the thought of Hawks losing his wings or being shamed out of his profession as a hero for just doing what was right. He’s never done any of this with ill-intent, in fact it’s quite the opposite, he’s a man that has tried to do what’s good for everyone at the expense of himself and I would much rather have a story where Hawks is allowed to grow as his own person, lets him focus on himself for a change, and achieve his actual dreams instead of settling to be everyone’s fallguy because he doesn’t want others to be hurt.
And while I may be clowning myself (though I hope I’m not and I hope people understand that I’m not saying this is a definite), I just don’t think it makes sense for Hawks to lose his wings in the context of the story, at least not permanently.
Firstly, Eri exists. She has a quirk that allows her to heal even the most severe of wounds (though whether she can restore limbs is off the table). Even on the off case that she can’t restore limbs, I think it’s important to remember that Hawks wings are mostly made up of feathers from what we’ve seen (a cursed thought to be honest). Even the nubs we saw after the Hood fight just seemed to have been made up of baby feathers that Hawks could detatch, so it’s most likely that Hawks feather’s just grown from his back. So, technically Eri wouldn’t be healing his wings, she’s be healing the area where they come from, Hawks quirk would then allow them to regrow (...does that make sense).
I know many people don’t like Eri being used as a cop-out, however, but I’m just using her quirk as an example. There are probably more quirks out there that can heal like hers (though probably not as strong). Also, while people may not like Eri being used (I too wouldn’t want her to be forced to do anything), there is still the matter of the fact that Hawks is the number 2 hero and the HPSC might even request (...or force) that she does. I hope it doesn’t come to that but it’s a possibility.
And then there’s the fact that Hawks heritage and actions has just be revealed to the public. I just don’t think it makes sense for Horikoshi to reveal such information if it’s not going to be used against him in the future, especially in his job as a hero. I think it makes more sense to have Hawks face such persecution while he continues his hero career in some form rather then add salt in the wound of a discharged hero (which would be much more unsatisfying to see, I’d much rather see Hawks rise above this patch in his career then see people kick him while he’s down and jobless).
The reason I want Hawks to continue being a hero is because it’s his dream job. The HPSC might have warped it but deep down we know Hawks is still the boy who wants to be a shining light for others and save them.
I hope Horikoshi has Hawks realise that he can be that shining light and that he doesn’t need to prop up others he views to be worthier. He’s plenty worthy after all.
Really, this is all just the ramblings of a girl with too much optimism for this man but I’ll continue to believe that Hawks is a character about hope until the manga shows me otherwise.

I don't know about you but I'm getting kind of...frustrated with how long it's taking for Hawks to wake up (and I'm confident he'll wake up). He's a side character, I understand that. But he was also a key factor to the raid. The results of the war could've been A LOT worse had it not been for Hawks' efforts and the sacrifices he made.
We got an update of Gran Torino, GRAN TORINO, waking up before Hawks. Not only do we have to deal with still not knowing Hawks' condition, but whenever he does wake up it won't be pretty. News reporters likely trying to hound him on the film and the guilt he most likely has.
Horikoshi's treating Hawks like dirt and it just really bothers me.
If we don’t get at least a chapter or so dedicated to Hawks and everything he’s done in this raid, then I’m throwing hands as he at least deserves that, side character or not
We deserve to know what’s going to happen Hawks now after his role in the raid is done and they’re all facing the results of it. And I swear to god, people better not turn on him because he’s one of the only heroes that actually managed to help in the efforts considering he took out one of the major threats.

One thing that I hope Hawks as a character doesn't do now is only focus his attention on Endeavor. I think it's great that he wants to help the man who saved him from an abusive household. But I just hope he doesn't forget what his ideals are. I hope his character doesn't suddenly become centered around the Todoroki's. Especially when he's got his own baggage to deal with (thanks to a Todoroki .-.).
Hawks is a complex character and can very much stand on his own. I'm just a little worried (and probably overthinking) he'll be watered down to a support system for the Todoroki's. When he can be so much more than that.
Yeah, while I think Hawks will play an important role in the Todoroki family drama, I don’t want the rest of his story arc to be just about them considering he was introduced as a seperate character independant of Endeavor (though he also proved in his introduction that he’s going to be important as a support character to that drama too. Hawks is one hell of a multitasker).
He’s one of the most obvious victims of the hero society and while the HPSC has fallen, what they did to Hawks still hasn’t been addressed properly (hero society has yet to change after all and heroes are still being dehumanized). I hope Hawks will also have an important role in directing hero society into a new and better light as well (I so want him to become the shining light he once wanted to be! He’s got the phoenix symbolism going for him so I know he can do it!).

Ok but like why do I get the feeling Deku wanting to save Shigaraki will end up being a Hawks vs Twice 2.0? Hawks understood Twice and tried to get him to change his ways, but he refused. Then he gets backed into a corner by Dabi and feels no other option than to kill him.
So when Deku faces Shigaraki again, AFO will be there as well as other members of the League most likely. Based on the leaks, I'm not sure if Deku's top priority is saving Shigaraki or defeating AFO. But we have to take into consideration Shigaraki doesn't want to be saved. He wants to destroy literally everything.
Tumblr media
So you could take away AFO and he'll still have his hatred for the world. How will Deku handle that without potentially getting killed? Or will he end up having to turn to a last resort and end up killing him.
I’d actually really love for Deku and Shigaraki to mimic the Hawks and Twice confrontation mostly because I want to see Deku under that same circumstance and to see him grow as a character. How would he handle Shigaraki if he chooses to continue killing? If he abandons AFO but still plans on destroying everything?
At least, I’d like a confrontation like this where it wouldn’t undermine Hawks decision and even highlight how such a decision would have an effect on the person. Oh! It would be so good at showing us that this is just a teenager fighting this war as well.
Imagine if Deku is unable to kill Shigaraki even when it becomes the worst case scenario? And then Shigaraki causing more deaths because he wasn’t stopped. I’d be so interesting in seeing how Deku would handle that... Ah, is it obvious I don’t want this manga to end with a cliche of Shigaraki and Deku working together to kill the big bad AFO T-T
This is probably all wishful thinking though T-T
