new Greninja x Hawlucha headcanons because we are so back. (are we) (part 1)
- Greninja had to reason with himself constantly in the days following his decision to remain in Kalos. He would often lay awake at night wondering if the Zygarde really did need his help the way they said they had– and even though he knew Kalos’ salvation was a worthy cause for which he was staying behind, he often wished he’d chosen instead to listen to the aching of his heart rather than act upon the needs of the region. - Despite having grown up as a loner, Greninja did in fact get very lonely while performing his duties when just days ago, he’d been surrounded by loved ones. Although he and Squishy would reminisce about their travels alongside Ash, Clemont, Serena, and Bonnie, they had little else in common beyond their desire to protect the region and their fondness for their companions. - Squishy made several efforts to get to know Greninja better throughout their work, however, if only to lessen the strain of his loneliness. He asked frequently about Greninja’s teammates– but after a time, he learned to refrain from asking about Hawlucha too much for it seemed that every time he did, Greninja would become unexplainably somber and for prolonged periods of time. (That’s not to say he didn’t get sad when his other teammates were mentioned, however!) - Greninja often found himself channeling his inner Hawlucha whenever he had to mediate conflicts between forest-dwelling Pokémon. In a way, he believed it kept himself and Hawlucha connected despite the distance. - Eventually, with enough time, Greninja became willing to talk more about his relationship with Hawlucha to Squishy. He was surprised to learn that Squishy was wholly unaware of the nature of his and Hawlucha’s bond and was quick to educate him on all the nuances that come with falling in love with your best friend. But it is through his Hawlucha raving that Greninja really finally comes to terms with his love for Hawlucha. And he also finds that vocalizing and being vulnerable about the notions of his heart is incredibly therapeutic, as well. - Greninja sees Hawlucha in everything. In fields of flowers he can spot each hue that makes up Hawlucha’s feathers. He can just barely make out the shape of his winged frame soaring beneath the clouds when he looks up at the sky. If Greninja craved a spike in morale, all he’d have to do was simply think of Hawlucha. - In the days following the conclusion of Greninja’s duties in Kalos, he is aware of the fact that he ought to find out about Ash’s whereabouts, or at least learn of his Kalos teammates’ whereabouts. He recalls Pikachu telling him of Ash’s hometown of Kanto and remembers him mentioning a laboratory that all of Ash’s Pokémon stayed at when their journeys alongside him had concluded. Heading there is a no-brainer for Greninja. - Goodra, whom Greninja had made a point to visit if ever he desired a taste of home, is happy to let Greninja recuperate in the wetlands until he’s ready to make his next move. Greninja confides in Goodra about his endless pining for Hawlucha, and Goodra believes Greninja’s next steps should be obvious. Find Hawlucha in Kanto and profess his love! Greninja informs Goodra that he’s already planned to do such. All Goodra asks is that Greninja tells the other Pokémon that he says hello and misses them dearly. - Initially, Z2 was considering asking Greninja to live permanently in Kalos to protect it should another disaster crop up, but Squishy (being that he wished to reunite with Bonnie himself) reasoned that depriving Greninja of his loved ones even further would be cruel. Z2 is understanding.

OH AND ALSO  here’s this other pre-typed ask I sent to like, one other mutual 😭 it’s a little long I must warn u
this.. might not make a lot of sense. but I thought about it as I was getting ready for bed last night and I happened to be looking at artwork of a much older Ash with a reworked team consisting of like, all his most powerful/iconic Pokémon and it just. clicked.
(specifically Sceptile and greninja are a part of this reworked, all-powerful team. hear me out. also this is a greninja x hawlucha/Sceptile x Snivy/Servine/serperior themed ask sorry 😭)
and, like, of course we all know ash would never  intentionally neglect his other pokemon (what with his rotation teams and all.)
but maybe he’s like, a celebrity, at this point! so he’s always got his aces on hand just in case a fan wants to battle and see his oh-so-iconic Pokémon. Ash is always happy to oblige.
of course the ‘mons back at the lab don’t really mind this. I mean.. most of them don’t. of course you’ll have a few complaining that they’re getting the short end of the stick (Oshawott in particular comes to mind for me lol) and of course ash takes them out for the occasional fight, too! He’d hate for them to feel neglected.
….but not everyone is all that satisfied with this arrangement. serperior and Hawlucha and particular are still feeling a little resentful. not towards ash, but rather towards their partners! (gasp! who could have seen this coming?!)
Hawlucha’s a little more accustomed to greninja being gone for longer periods of time (doesn’t mean he enjoys it though..) but serperior isn’t, and even though they both seem composed in the eyes of everyone else, it.. sucks!!
every so often Hawlucha and Serperior’ll tag along with ash, but serperior doesn’t particularly like always being matched up with weaker opponents. Hawlucha doesn’t mind flaunting his strength, but he does get a little iffy about leaving Noivern by himself so they’re not out with ash too often.
Greninja and Sceptile love their partners of course but i don’t think either of them realize just how much their absence bugs Hawlucha and Serperior ..
ik that was kind of a lot lol but what do you think..??? ik serperior can be a little cold herself so I feel like she might give Sceptile the cold shoulder (ironic because the problem was that she missed his presence) and we all know Hawlucha can be stubborn…
Ohhh some tension, that would be tough, Serperior and Hawlucha not seeing their partners as much and especially Serperior doesn’t know how to handle it since she’s not use to it as much as Hawlucha.
Serperior and Hawlucha would both sulk, alone, and they can’t help just but think ‘You know it’s nice that Ash is a Champion, but I hate much much I don’t see my partner often.’
Like why did they have to go with him? They know why but that doesn’t mean they like it.
Hmm… I’m not good at writing about confrontation, but I feel like between the two, Hawlucha would snap first and say, “Having fun traveling, Greninja?”
And Greninja would ask if something’s wrong and Hawlucha like “Oh I’m perfectly fine.”
And Sceptile noticing Serperior’s somewhat distant behavior saying keeping her head held high. But then hearing upon hearing Hawlucha’s comment, he could click and tease, “Oh someone misses me.”
She’s like “Of course I do, you’re never in the lab.” She missed the days when she and Sceptile would watch the other Pokémon in the lab, the hugs, and cuddles and sleeping together.
Sceptile and Greninja feel bad and they tried to talk saying they didn’t realize how much their absence affected their partner.
They felt better about talking about it but they still miss them.
And eventually, once they do convince Ash to just take them back to the ranch, or Vice versa (Talonflame might tell Hawlucha, ‘Hey I can watch Noivern, now go to your man, move your ***) Pikachu, Infernape and Charizard, etc. can hold down the fort.
A lot of affection and hugs and kisses spending time were given to make it up.
Oh and don’t worry! I don’t mind being asked about Hawlucha x Greninja and Sceptile Snivy/Servine/Serperior! It’s fun to talk to about them!

Merry Christmas of everyone!
Sorry for not posting this drawing yesterday but I wanna enjoy the Feast with my family.
I decide to reveal something in this special, something very special.
There you go the Christmas special........
Tumblr media
This is the drawing, I already preparing the special of the new year (more simple than this).
There we have:
-Hawlucha who is a Christmas elf.
-greninja his of course Rudolf with some Christmas light.
-me as a normal person who enjoy her Christmas.
-A new oc of mine, she is my precious gift.
About my oc, she is the new project for one of my comic.
As for this comic, I haven't even started it, but I'm starting some kind of storyline.
There some info:
-the comic will be more longer than the other one
-the comic will be more personalized than the other
-the comic is not connected to the canon world of pokémon
-Most likely there will be other new ocs for this comic but that I haven't created yet
-I'll try to bring this comic for next year even if I intend to work more on the latter.
-There will of course be the ship Greninja x Hawlucha
-this comic will be open another AU of mine
And that all I have to say, I hope you enjoy the new little one.
She doesn't have a name yet but I have a list of name and I have to decide... If you had to give her a name, what name would you give her, I'm curious.
I will make you guys a drawing-concept about her and maybe give you some other info.
I hope you like it.
AND FOR THE LAST,I HOPE YOU HAD A MAGNIFICENT CHRISTMAS AND THAT YOU GOT A LOT OF PRESENTS, SEE YOU SOON!!!!!
🎄🎅🥂

After watching Roize Rasen’s most recent video about what sorts of possible new Megas, regional forms, and normal evolutions for Pokemon we could get in PLZA, I wanna try and do a quick thought exercise on what the possible new Megas could be.
Keep in mind, I’m following a similar set of limits and rules like what Roize did in his video, so there’s gonna be some explaining to do on which Pokemon I think/hope get Megas.
- The Kalos starters; It should be pretty obvious that the original starter trio from X and Y could get something. Especially if neither the Kanto and/or Hoenn starters don’t show up in the game. Aside from Ash-Greninja being removed for quite some time, it still has Battle Bond as a possible ability, even during the early days of SV’s release. Plus, Chesnaught and Delphox both need something to keep up with the ninja frog after the latter took off in popularity
- Xerneas and Yveltal; Similar to the starters, the main two legendaries of X and Y are due to get something for this game. If Dialga and Palkia can finally get something of their own via their Origin forms similar to Giratina, why can the Life and Death duo? This could go in two different directions; they either get proper Megas, or they could do something like Primal Groudon/Kyorge and Origin Form Dialga/Palkia, and have forms that are like Megas, but are their own thing. Either option works
- A few more Kalos Pokemon; Something that I always found odd is that aside from Diancie of all Pokemon, none of the species introduced in Kalos got Megas of their own. While later generations have plenty of their respective ‘Mons join in their respective battle gimmicks, we really never saw a Mega-Evolved Kalos Pokemon. Maybe Z-A could be a good way to fix that. Following the rules that Roize pointed out in his video (things like not include Pokemon that are either in pairs that could have a member get left out if the other got a Mega, have gender or size differences that could make the process hard to code in, have multiple forms already like Furfrou and Vivilion, part of multi-generational groups like Dedenne and Sylveon (the former being a Pika-clone and the latter being an Eeveelution), already got something recently (Hisuian Avalugg and Goodra say hi), and making sure the Megas are given out to Pokemon that aren’t really useful in battle), quite a lot of Kalos’ Dex is gonna be cut out, leaving out a few species to pick from. If the amount of Megas is only gonna be something like 20 to give time and space to the other new additions like regional forms and new evolutions to older Pokemon, along with already existing Pokemon and Megas from the original X and Y games, we have 5 slots to work with, given how I imagine that maybe half of the new Megas would be for Kalos species (along with how the starters and legendaries already make up that first quarter). My personal picks would include Noivern, Heliolisk, Barbaracle, Hawlucha, and Malamar
- Flygon; You all knew that this guy would be here, let’s not kid ourselves. Maybe after more than 10 years, Gamefreak could finally come up with a design for a Mega Flygon that they’re happy with. This entire game could be a good chance for some Pokemon that missed out on getting a Mega back in Gen 6 to finally get that second chance, Flygon especially. Make it the Bug/Dragon combo that people have been wanting for years
- Jynx; Yes, for those who are not in the know, Jynx may seem like a weird choice. However, similar to Flygon, Jynx was originally planned to get a Mega in X and Y, but was cut. Additionally, the whole thing of a strange cry similar to Jynx’s own being found in the data of Pokémon HOME having a similar reverb heard in the cries of every single Mega-Evolved Pokemon adds fuel to the fire
- Milotic; If the possible new Megas fit in with the culture of Kalos in a similar way to how new Pokemon and forms fit in with the cultures of the respective regions they were introduced in, Milotic would be a perfect fit. Along with that, it’s a very popular Pokemon that people have been wanting to see get a Mega for years now, and it would be a good foil to Mega Gyarados, given how both lines are seen as counterparts of each other
- Revavroom: If we’re gonna pick any Pokemon from recent gens to get a Mega, Revavroom would check that box very well, along with getting a much-needed buff. The poor thing needs a better ability to deal with its 4-times weakness to Ground types. Something like Levitate could work, as the dang thing is already floating up in the air for some reason. Plus, we could have a good opportunity to make this weird and delightfully goofy Pokemon even MORE so. Plenty of the existing Megas build off of the original designs to make their own designs extremely wild and creative, so the Rat Fink-looking car monster would be a very perfect candidate
- Parasect; Another weird candidate, the Paras line is one of the few remaining Pokemon from Gen 1 to not get anything. Perhaps that could finally be fixed with a Mega, and there’s a route for its design that I can easily see it going in; have it be a Ghost/Grass type that have the mushroom assimilate the dead bug into its body, resulting in a truly twisted-looking abomination of a Mega.
- Mimikyu; As much as I wanna avoid giving Megas to Pokemon who are already powerful juggernauts, I can definitely see Gamefreak giving one to Mimikyu, due to how insanely popular it is. While I don’t have much input on which the stats or ability could be, I can easily imagine maybe even a tiny glimpse of Mimikyu’s true appearance factoring into the design in some way
- Sandaconda; I’m aware that Sandaconda already has a Gigantamax form, but the Kanto starters and Gengar do as well, and they also have Megas too, so needless to say, the sand snake is fair game. Sandaconda isn’t that bad, but I feel it could use a Mega to make it relevant some more. The best possible route I can see this guy going is probably Ground/Dark with a Titanoboa-like design. Let this guy keep Sand Spit as its ability. A few Megas already have abilities that their original counterpart normally have, so this wouldn’t be anything new
- Vikavolt; As much as I don’t wanna add in personal favorites to this list, Vikavolt actually has a few things that could work in its favor in terms of getting a Mega; Stag beetles can be found in France, it most certainly needs some sort of buff to its Speed, and it could be a good pick for a Pokemon to add in your team early on before giving it its Mega Stone. I’m split on its ability, however; should I let it keep Levitate to not be affected by Ground types? Or should I give it Speed Boot to make it even more faster, with the added caveat of making it a glass cannon? That’s something that the fans who are into stats and Abilites would have to step in for
- Golurk; Going back to what I said earlier about this game being a second chance for certain Pokemon getting a Mega, Golurk is another example. Plus, given that more and more Gen 5 Pokemon have been getting new regional forms and the like in the last few games, I say it’s high time for Golurk to join in. Audino had its fun as the only Gen 5 Mega after all these years. Not only is Golurk one of the most popular Gen 5 ‘mons, it also has a few things that could lend it towards getting a Mega; either letting it keep its original typing or replace Ground with Steel, make it a more heavy hitter with powerful defenses, having Iron Fist as its ability (this guy can learn 7 punching moves, so it works), and having its design include more of the energy inside of its body to leak out, making it a bit more dangerous to be around for long periods of time (side-note; I really hope this game addresses how potentially damaging the transformations are to not only the Pokemon themselves, but also anyone around them, as stated by the Alola Dex entires on them)
- Scovillain; While not the most thought-of pick for a Paldean species to Mega Evolve, Scovillain has a few points in its favor; Creative typing that could translate to a memorable design, a buff to mostly its Special Attack, and something like Solar Power being a perfect fit due to its types benefiting from the sun.
Could I be wrong about most of these predictions? Maybe, but it was still fun to speculate on what new Mega s we could see in PLZA. While I think were still not gonna hear any updates for a while (while I’m cool with, these damn games need more development time), perhaps we could get a sneak peek during a possible Pokemon Presents or something. We’ll have to wait and see

hiii lol just a warning this is gonna get.. long

but maybe he’s like, a celebrity, at this point! so he’s always got his aces on hand just in case a fan wants to battle and see his oh-so-iconic Pokémon. Ash is always happy to oblige. Sceptile in particular kiiiinda lets the fame go to his head on occasion..
of course the ‘mons back at the lab don’t really mind this. I mean.. most of them don’t. of course you’ll have a few complaining that they’re getting the short end of the stick (Oshawott in particular comes to mind for me lol) and of course ash takes them out for the occasional fight, too! I think the rest of the Ashmons will pick up their vibe even when they say they’re fine. Mostly from Oshawott eavesdropping to their talks.
Which get relief to Pikachu who in turn notifies Ash of the problem. We all know he hates seeing his pokemon upset so he has a talk with Greninja and Sceptile and how their absences effect their respective partners.
Sceptile will tease Seperior on how much she misses him and she’ll get all red. Greninja makes it up to Hawluch for more cuddles.
In an unrelated note, I actually have an pokemon oc, her mons are dating a few of Ash’s mons such as Sceptile, Greninja, Lycanroc, Hawlucha, Leavanny, and Gengar. And two of her mons are siblings to Ash’s

more fireandiceshipping headcanons ..
might draw some art of them. might not. they’ve been on my mind for like.. the past few years lol!!
Training Headcanons:
- They are always each other’s go-to training partners, no questions asked. - Nowadays, essentially the Pokémon equivalent of going on a date— to them, anyway— is a good, no-holds-barred training session. (And when I say no-holds-barred, I mean it. Neither of them ever hold anything back.) - Rather than long-range combat, they both prefer melee fighting should they be sparring one-on-one. Greninja was actually the one to suggest this as he’d always felt he could improve on his close-range abilities (and who better to help him with that than a whole freakin’ wrestler?). They also like the intimacy that comes with it, mainly cause’ they’re free to exchange flirty lines (or even steal a quick smooch) all they want throughout. - Hawlucha is usually the first to over-exert himself, whether intentionally or otherwise. - He’s also prone to brushing training injuries off as a result of this over-exertion as if they hadn’t happened, but Greninja knows better—- even if Hawlucha is convinced he doesn’t, that perhaps he’s simply worrying too much about nothing. Gren’s known him long enough to notice even the most subtle of winces, or that telltale falter in Hawlucha’s gait when he’s pushed himself a mite too hard, however, and Hawlucha finds it astounding how quickly Greninja can make the switch from an unwaveringly fierce opponent to a tender, caring partner should he sense that something is off. - There’s nothing Greninja loves more than Hawlucha giving it his all, but he never wants to make him feel like he’s got to prove anything to him. He wishes he did not have to remind the fighting-type of this so frequently, but alas… - Greninja used to find himself almost disappointed if he wasn’t able to train with Hawlucha specifically. He used to think he did a good job at hiding it, but the increasing frequency with which Ash would pair him up with Hawlucha or, better yet, the frequency with which their friends would conveniently opt to spar with someone else so that Greninja and Hawlucha would end up together served as the piquant reality check he so desperately seemed to need. - Hawlucha will thoroughly check Greninja for injuries after training sessions; The methodical way Hawlucha runs his claws along Greninja’s skin and the glint of worry that flashes in his eyes once he’s spotted something amiss send Greninja’s heart on a rapid-fire pace without fail, every time. He’s not used to being doted on, either. - If Hawlucha is hurt severely in a battle or other altercation, Greninja will see red, because how dare someone cause him such a terrible degree of pain? If the threat has not been taken care of, Greninja will be absolutely merciless towards it— not even Hawlucha himself (OR Ash) can restrain him when he gets to be this way. After the threat has been eliminated, however, Greninja makes the switch into a doting, concerned lover. Hawlucha typically isn’t able to go anywhere without him while he heals. - Hawlucha is similar should Greninja find himself hurt, but he will typically become reclusive and resigned after the fact as he feels he should have been there to prevent Greninja from being injured.
Bonus: No, they have not re-attempted Super Flying Cut since Froakie evolved. And no, that’s not because the one time they did try it, Hawlucha went careening straight to the ground the moment Greninja tried to leap onto his back. Not at all.
Other Headcanons!
- Once Greninja and Hawlucha did finally get together, they stopped quarreling so much— but that’s not to say they don’t get into fights at all anymore. Nowadays, their fights are usually brought on by Hawlucha being reckless and, subsequently, Greninja getting upset with him for putting himself in danger. As much as Hawlucha likes to brush Greninja’s concerns off, he.. actually quite likes the warmth he feels when Greninja worries about him. It isn’t very often he experiences that level of care. - They don’t like to fight at all, though. Sometimes, one or both of them will take a minute to decompress after an argument, but the period never lasts all that long— they don’t like being mad at each other for too long. - Between Hawlucha and Greninja, Hawlucha is actually more of a morning ‘mon than Greninja is— but that’s because Greninja’s time in Kalos left him experiencing several monotonous, lonely mornings on the daily— of course, being roused by wayward roots on occasion certainly doesn’t help. - Greninja typically isn’t very protective— he knows Hawlucha is fully capable of handling himself. That, however, goes completely out of the window if some other Pokémon is trying to make a pass at Hawlucha. Typically the luchador is… pretty clueless, to the romantic advances of other Pokémon (unless, of course, it’s Greninja), but that doesn’t stop them from trying to woo the luchador. Greninja, as much as he hates to admit it, has his own insecurities, and so he typically doesn’t hesitate to get confrontational with another Pokémon trying to get with Hawlucha. He also makes a lot of physical contact with Hawlucha if he suspects an outsider is trying to get romantic with him— whether that be through hand-holding, small kisses, fond glances, or an excessive use of nicknames. - Hawlucha is a lot quieter about his jealousy. Mostly, he just fumes quietly so as not to draw attention to himself or Greninja, but he does cling to Greninja far more than usual— not that the frog really minds.

It’s kinda funny, actually. X and Y are the first games I actually got hyped up for. I played some Diamond and Pearl and finished White version by myself but X was the first game I actually watched come out. I remember hearing one of the other kids on the playground talk about the new starter Pokémon that just got announced, going home and staring at them on the family computer. I remember calling my friend on the landline phone to excitedly talk about the fake leaks I saw (and believed).
I remember when I finally got the game too. I picked the boy character (even though I didn’t know why at the time) and I picked Froakie. This was 10 years ago so I don’t fully remember my team, but I believe I had a Greninja, Simisear, Venusaur, Meowstic, Hawlucha and a Zoroark. This story doesn’t have any point, I’m sort of just reminiscing but it’s just strange to feel the passage of time I guess. I was 9 when that game came out and I’ll be 20 when this game comes out. Weird.

After all this time, it is finally done. We have finished all three seasons of the XY anime.
Kinda surprised, but final takeaway is that was pretty good.
The first two seasons felt pretty standard to what I'd recall, where the major emphasis is placed on the interactions, be it human dynamics or the way Pokemon interact. It's cute and relatively fun but the kind of show I can put on in the background while playing something and not miss too much. XYZ was...surprisingly story-centered. I actually like what they did with Zygarde and Team Flare. That was a fun arc. Surprisingly dramatic.
As for the character rundown...
Ash is the least interesting part of his own story. My wife had a great point about it, and maybe she'll post about it herself, but she noted we never actually see Ash's internal strategy and thought in the same way as, say, Sawyer in the semifinals. He just kinda does stuff, and I'd argue it's mostly bullshit stuff half the time. The fuck do you mean X-Scissor cut through Trick Room? Fuck you. Ash just doesn't grate on me like he used to, though. Like, compared to the first season, he's less obnoxious. But the improvement is from outright contempt to like...a non-entity. Unless Greninja is involved. Then he is obnoxious again.
By contrast, Serena is the most interesting one here. Her arc with the performances is actually really good. Starting on a loss that devastates, overcoming, having another fumble later that does cost her a win but working through it successfully, and ending on a big engagement with her rival that she loses pretty handily. It's good stuff. Also I like how it all ends with Palerma offering to tutor her, and her turning it down to travel the world instead. I think Serena's arc felt more like following a proper character growth story. She feels significantly different from where she started.
Clemont and Bonnie are good, too. Clemont grew on me in ways I didn't expect, and Bonnie started really clicking with the Squishy arc. Though man, Bonnie cannot catch a break. Every Pokemon she befriends aside from Dedenne leaves.
Alain is fine. Similar to Ash, he's not all that interesting, but I give him a little more credit than Ash. Barely, though. "I have to be strong" is still very standard anime protagonist man. Marron is just a nice grounding tool for that. I am nothing if not a sucker for that trope. Though Sawyer wound up being the preferred side character. I actually love that kid. Someone who battles with clear strategy and like...adapts and learns and grows in real time? He was in like ten episodes and I feel like there was more substance in his regional travel than the gang's.
The gym leaders getting a bit of spotlight is always nice for personality. My wife and I are now Viola/Grant shippers as it turns out. Korrina's arc was really solid. I love that they let Valerie speak in Pokemon, something about that rules. Olympia is hella extra and I adore her double Meowstic thing, hers was my favorite gym battle. Wulfric actually wound up being kinda fun in the rematch, too.
Of the team's Pokemon, we wound up really liking Hawlucha, Bunnelby, and Eevee/Sylveon. Hawlucha, or Pawlucha, is great. Showboating luchador bird who is now Noibat's father. Bunnelby is consistently MVP, and the decision to have Bunnelby seem constantly exhausted because of Chespin and Pancham, but the only one Eevee feels completely comfortable with, is golden. Eevee itself is adorable, shy baby with its own great arc. I think they said "She" in reference to Eevee, but I'm just saying, the tail pattern is male.
I think the biggest complaint I have is that...none of this feels like it will have an impact on anything. We started Sun and Moon, so we know none of Ash's team remains, despite not all of them getting a proper sendoff. We know none of the travel companions stick around. We know that despite all these experiences and battles, Pikachu will go on to struggle against a Grubbin. There were like 16 seasons before this, and yet still Ash is learning basic lessons like how to deal with Gust. And I am just...so strongly put in the mind of "This would be more interesting with a different protagonist."
Actually that's only the second biggest. The biggest is Greninja. I hate that thing. They bring up an entire thing in the Bond Phenomenon, then go out of their way to say no, it's not just a strong bond, this Greninja is actually just that special. No one else ever can do that. And despite ending with the implied mega evolution energy in other parts of the world, mega evolution goes on to be dropped entirely, with nothing more to be discovered. It ties into that sense of "none of this matters." I imagine it's all like this, with each season being fairly standalone, but that just makes anything interesting as an open-ended question fade away to nothing, and any growth and development for Ash, which is little enough to begin with, amount to nothing. I'm choosing to interpret this as him receiving a TBI between each season, negating all progress. Pikachu gets one too.
There isn't a ton else I want to talk about, really. It was fairly fun. I'm keeping up with Sun and Moon, because I gotta develop an opinion on Anime Lusamine. We'll see how it goes.
