A Hazbin Hotel based devotional

As much as I don't like it, I do actually believe that Hell is forever. Now all that said, Adam's theology (like the rest of him) is very yikes, starting with the above line. Romans 3:23 sums up my belief on this matter, and rather concisely too. "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," (NIV [source: Bible Gateway]).

I believe in a God who is grace and mercy incarnate. I believe those are things everyone needs. Ephesians 2: 8-9 says "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (NIV [source: Bible Gateway])

I have pretty low self-worth. I am grateful for a love that is given even to those who don't deserve it, especially since I don't believe I deserve good things (working on that in therapy, among other things).

OOOHHH let me tell you one thing that pisses me off so much but that I'm also obsessed with because it shoves in your face how completely and utterly lost in their bullshit the angels are

OKAY SO ,you know that scene where charlie is pleading her case in the court ?

When the angels agree to keep watching what angel dust will do charlie is so relieved that she shouts "Fuck yeah!" and EVERYONE IMMEDIATELY GIVES HER THE STINK EYE.

Meanwhile do you know how many times Adam swears during that scene? I WON'T COUNT IT BUT IT'S PROBABLY A WHOLE FUCKING LOT

Does ANYONE even pause for a second when he does it? Do they have ANY reaction whatsoever? NO

They are so deeply convinced that the division between angels and demons is fair and right that they would never question an angel , not even when ANGELS go on MURDER SPREES FOR FUN

So obviously when Charlie swears it's wrong , it's a clear demonstration that she is one of THEM , one of those sinful creatures who belong in hell forever.

When Adam swears it's just Adam being Adam. Is he mean and obnoxious? Yes , but he's an angel. Is he a sadistic bitch ? Yes , but he's an angel. Is he a perverted asshole who swears like a sailor ? YES, BUT HE IS AN ANGEL. And that fact alone makes him powerful and worthy and good.

shipping Lucifer and Alastor but not romantically or sexually or even platonically but in a secret fourth way. enemies to enemies who hang out with each other all the time. kismesis without the sexy parts. a QPR but in this case the R stands for Rivalry. they both built their own tower on opposite sides of the hotel to avoid each other but neither of them are ever in those towers because they spend all their time in the lobby bickering. they have at least five musical showdowns a week. at first Charlie steps in to deescalate whenever it looks like they're about to actually kill each other but they're always like "we were just talking what's the problem?" so eventually she just leaves them to it. any suggestion to either of them about rising above it or trying to stay away from the other is met with some variation of "I can't back down and give him the satisfaction of thinking he won! also he's fun to piss off" Vox tries to start shit with Alastor and gets smited by the king of hell himself because Lucifer "can't let anything happen to my daughter's hotel's bellhop!" Lucifer seems down after an argument with Charlie and Alastor convinces her to talk things out with her dad who "isn't nearly as entertaining when he's moping about." at no point do they show any signs of hating each other any less. imagine if one of the most important and stable relationships in your life was based on mutual loathing.

ps. Lute's opinion of sinners is obviously bad. Okay, very bad. OKAY, for her they are a cross between insects and animals. Therefore, having become a demon, she initially acts like a predator in the wild “See the prey - grab it.”

God this song. I've had it on repeat while drawing this. It's so fucking good! Emily was such a great character too and I feel like her and Charlie could be good friends!

I'm also glad to see Charlie not being a pushover even if she's not in demon form. She was controlled, but she stood her ground!
