New AU idea, consider: Takumi is a (normally very sleepy) dragon, but one day he encounters the kingdom's crown prince while the latter is on a hunting trip, finds him very pretty, and takes him to his lair.

Crown prince Ryousuke actually thinks being kidnapped by a dragon is a fun change of pace, especially because the dragon is so cute.

Then prince Keisuke arrives to save his brother and slay the dragon... only to fail horribly, because he also thinks the dragon is very cute.

the premise that The Change gets all messed up for alberto, say it's something that can happen from stress, &/or happens rarely and you just have to wait for it to resolve itself....used as some parallel to struggling through some emotional turbulence / upheaval / questioning / Realizing Things, etc etc

Anyway they can change between being tiny and human sized. And when they're tinier they can only be seen by the other fae or their selected humans. So if you just passed Noll on the street while Shavuli was perched on his shoulder chatting away you wouldn't see or hear her.

#my characters #a lot of the fae who are trying to get noll to pick a human take turns joining him as he wanders if he opts to be human sized #if he opts to be small and fly around none of them can actually find him to follow bc he does it precisely to be alone #and makes careful to avoid all of them when he dips #which furthers their friendly obsession with him being their void like where is he we lost him we gotta go bring him back from the abyss!#and hes just off on his own being crippled by anxiety at being a disappointment bc what if he isnt fun enough #absolutely unaware that all his friends are like we gotta go find him hes too good at this #hes going to win the game we have clearly set up to involve humans before he even recruits a human #cause he is TOO GOOD at slipping away ITS NOT FAIR we love him what a weird fae thats our lil guy!#noll really is just out there impressing all of his friends and not knowing hes impressing them bc hes too scared of being abandoned #and i was telling rae but when he does find the human he wants as his for the game #hes like ok so im gonna be honest here i turn into a big sword and you are definitely not going to be strong enough to carry me #and the human just like ok then pick someone else?#and hes like no no i cant you dont get it youre resourceful and im resourceful THEREFORE! i have an idea! just for us!#and then proceeds to shatter himself into shards basically #so that the human can have many smaller easy to control swords rather than one too big sword #and when all of the other fae see it they are absolutely delighted bc they didnt know he could do that! thats so cool! wow! they love him s #and he doesnt tell them that it actually really flippin hurts and being broken is agonizing but he wants to win so badly #anyway hello appreciate the void fae noll and his lil buddy shavuli who can turn into a spear C:#in her human form though she loves to wear hoodies instead of just like .... a skin tight suit with draping fabrics #she does wear biker shorts bc leggy.... she likes to have legs free #but she likes hoodies a lot

if your ocs were bosses in a video game, what do you think their boss fight would be like?

#red rambles #im thinking about this with mine and curious what other people have thought up #sidebar: i have been thinking about things like 'mechamics' and 'the kinds of attacks they'd use' and 'phases' and 'gimmicks'#i havent detailed them all here because i figured it wouldn't be what other people wanted to read #unfortunately it seems also everyone else thinks this. i want to hear about your mechanics....#so i guess ill go add mine in #kit and kat would be a pair of optional bosses who you fight together - kit a dex build who moves into a strength+dex combo in her second #phase; she doesn't get a second health bar #but it gets dramatically harder to hit her and she stops getting stunned nearly as easily in the second phase #and her hits get much harder #KAT (her gimmick partner) also has a second phase #if you haven't killed Kit before you activate Kat's second phase #(Kat gets a second health bar) she teleports herself and Kit out of the boss fight arena and (as they're optional)#this technically means you can progress but you get no winnings #and the next time you come back they're there again #im imagining them like ds1r havel where he's just like in a shortcut. they're camping a door #anyway you have to fully kill Kit to #get to kill Kat #and her second phase will activate when Kit dies in that case #and she'll go from infrequent but hard-hitting long-distance attacks to frequent long-distance attacks with less intensity behind them #and a set of melee attacks that do a lot of damage but require her to grapple you so if you don't get grabbed you're alright #meanwhile rex (the other one i discussed on discord) is a mainline boss who keeps dying and then just showing up again but he dies like #his ass is DEAD he's not walking off he DIES. okay?#you have to kill him at least twice for the mainline quest and there's even more optional places you can kill him #the first three or four sequential fights (only one of which is mainline) he's human the whole time #the second mainline fight he changes forms and his second phase is in dragon form #and he doesn't get a second health bar or anything but he does get aoe fire attacks #and gets to visibly take damage at increasing levels before you kill him #he also has a mechanic where on his last dot of health he can absorb like 4x the normal amount of damage #so when he should be one hit away from death he is in fact four or five hits away from death

nghm okay my take on the neuvillette 'ships' is that they're...all kinda boring? theres a lot of interesting dynamics to explore dont get me wrong but for all of them romance is the least interesting option lol. first is because i dont think he's romantically-inclined by nature (aroace king) but also he intentionally tries to keep people at arms length because of his position as iudex (so even if he has friendly connections i cant see anything 'more' than that actually working out) .

however the most interesting juxtaposition for his character imo is being so filled with love for the world and the people around him and simulataneously not experiencing 'love' in the way a lot of people traditionally understand it. he loves people so deeply no he does not want to pursue any of them romantically. it doesnt even have anything to do with him being a dragon, he's just like that.

#genshinblogging #i dont want to like lean into the idea that aroace people are somehow inhuman but i think the experience would intersect with his dragonhood #but at the same time he'd be pleasantly surprised if he found out that some humans dont experience certain forms of attraction as well #yknow theres a bit of human connection there. like hey man you're not as 'inhuman' as you think you are. youve got something in common with #ordinary human beings #idk i saw a take about his & furina's relationship that kinda ticked me off. their dynamic is weird and complicated by their positions and #traumas and literally everything. they're siblings they're awkward coworkers they're father and daughter they're estranged and #they care about each other. but there is no romance. you can have that level of complexity without romance #and i think adding in the 'neuvillette is romantically interested in furina' aspect to that just flattens it?#romantic shipping is a black hole. once you put the romantic aspect in there it swallows up basically everything else #because it recontextualises everything. in this case unnecessarily so #(im ace and frustrated by amatonormativity again)

probably going to rework my human bellum design again

#surprise surprise im still not satisfied with it but i think i have the base down #might just rework his clothing a liiiiitle and maybe like. give him at least slightly darker skin #he still comes off as edgy or some shit to me. i still want to stick with the violent delinquent sorta angle #i just feel like its a bit much or whatever. he just seems too unremarkable but also too detailed #or something. with the scars all over. maybe its bc i cant picture him v well in the game artstyle? but ive never cared much abt that #tho looking at the comms ive gotten of him. he seems fine. the x on the eyepatch might be a bit much #maybe he can customize it when he materializes it idk and the x is a default. its made of sand when you inspect it #it might also help to write him more. force myself to think abt him in situations #in other news im thinking abt damien possible post ph healing magic. i like the idea i have #i really need to fiure out more defined post ph arcs it does bother me how aimless it is #i know vague stuff but very little specifics. it needs a fucking plot #i do want to keep bellums human form making him look closely related to link. i like that #its funny if nothing else #salty talks #damiens fine hes just a guy he doesnt need anything too fancy. if i think abt it too long my certainty dissolves #wow i love being insecure ablut my ideas. i love rsd. ohhhhhhhhh boyyy #now its a minor vent. w/e. at rhis rate im. gonna start talking abt how my job scheduled me on a shift #with the literal bare minimum number of scheduled workers so if its slightly busy its going to be a living hell #at least i get paid for closing so when closing inevitably takes over an hour bc i have to do it alone im getting paid more #if i wasnt motivated by money itd be so fucking over for me in the workforce

Anyway I feel like it kinda gets glossed over that Knives was a child when he caused the big fall and idk I think that's kind of important because he's lived with that for over 100 years and just like Vash has lived with knowing the people he loves and fights for don't see him or his kind as anything more than a tool at best or a monster at worst, Knives has most definitely lived with knowing he's the leading reason why this system has remained in place

#knives millions #millions knives #like he can and most definitely does rationalize away conscious guilt by going 'this is what humans would have done anyway'#but like #goddamn alisduflsiafuh he was a child #and for all his resentment toward Rem she was still his mom #and he still initially intended for her to be saved with them #and this isn't me wanting to handwave everything else he'sdone #but i think it's an important part of his character to remember #(especially in the trimax manga where imo he's had a death wish of some sort constantly since he found out about tesla)#(the only thing keeping him going was Vash staying alive and freeing the other plants)#(and when he failed to take the other Plants away with him. he starts asking Vash to just shoot him already)#(like idk man sometimes i just remember that he was a kid when he caused the big fall and my heart hurts)#(he was already building his self fulfilling prophecy)#(and then tristamp has him find conrad way younger than in the manga and the forced witness of a Plant being killed happens as a teen #(and OW)#(like the fact that he and vash experience so many of the same things but have key pieces of formative disconnect...)#(their story breaks my fucking heart)

Anon I'm so sorry, I really don't have that much on hand! And I would really hesitate to call it a folklore au because I don't really know if it is really a folklore au! I would actually direct you over to @persicipen for their delightful fic series on a more folklore take!

My thoughts/au is a little different if I'm being honest and far less thought out! Actually if I'm really being honest, there isn't any actual concrete au to begin with! It's always changing based on whatever new little ideas I come up with!

#toast talks #they're all eclairette coded anyways LOL #Recent fave is her finding this massively injured dragon in a storm and trying to see if she can help him #Idk! The image of him as a dragon with these arrows or harpoons littered all over his body leaking #elemental (or maybe primordial) essence and yet still having enough strength to growl and snap at her and try to threaten her #does something to me.#How he eventually relents and gives into her claims of wanting to help him. And she does manage to remove the largest one causing him pain.#Idk where it goes from there all I know is that he's stuck in a little cove while he recovers because he can't go back into open waters #still heavily injured.#I also think it's funny that Eclair would be going back and forth for days to make sure he's recovering well and helps remove #the smaller arrows that didn't cause him much injury and has been talking to him the entire time and thinking he couldn't understand her.#Meanwhile he finally speaks up and she's just like???#''Human languages are simplistic. I simply had no need to speak with you. You tended to my wounds well enough without my input.''#Okay dick. Thanks I guess???#Anyways uhh slow acting curse in that one harpoon that strips him of his sovereignty and forces him to take a human form #Now Eclair has to house this extremely disgruntled dragon and help him figure out how to break the curse.
