when syn:energy disbanded, all three of them had already established their solo careers or were starting to, so, while they were all active, they remained in touch as much as they possibly could. however, when daehyun announced his hiatus, which ended up lasting roughly two years, he simply disappeared, as he felt very strongly the need to pull himself away from everything relating to his idol life before, including the friends he cherished deeply. joonwoong and yeonghwan both respected that, despite very much worrying for him and trying to find out anything they could about what he was doing. it wasn't easy to do so, however, since he was no longer active on any social media either  —  at least not on his official ones.

when daeseong, daehyun's younger brother, debuted with his first group, yeonghwan ended up running into him on shows and things of the sort and asked him about how his sibling was doing. daeseong gave general and vague answers, knowing daehyun had chosen to isolate himself  —  and because they had also sadly grown distant at that time, even if they would see each other back at home on occasion.

when the survival show started and 4fusion debuted, both joonwoong and yeonghwan were keeping up with it and rooting for daehyun, but they had yet to have a chance to talk to him again. at this point, it was almost a little awkward, as if neither of them knew how to approach each other. the opportunity only came months later, when the final line up was already established and promoting their songs. joonwoong was on a music show promoting his newest solo at the same time as 4fusion, while yeonghwan was doing his job as mc of said show.

at first, none of them truly acknowledged each other due to awkwardness, but, when it was time for everyone to come to the center of the stage to hear the winner of the day, yeonghwan couldn't help going a little bit rogue. he was the one to bring up the fact that it was the first time that three members of syn:energy were back on stage together, even if doing their own projects  —  and, as he did so, he called out both joonwoong and daehyun to come closer. albeit they hesitated for a moment, they ended up doing just that. unable to help himself, joonwoong smiled and ruffled daehyun's hair, saying that he was proud of him. that little interaction was what they needed to break the ice and, not even five minutes later, they were hugging each other on stage as everyone else watched. by the time they finally pulled away, fans could swear they saw daehyun's eyes well up with tears, as all three of them became clearly a bit emotional  —  and that was the catalyst for the rumors and requests for the group's reunion to happen, which they later finally responded to.

Among the various ways he can show affection, it's a pretty big deal when he buys clothes for someone. He takes the task quite seriously, wanting the recipient of his gift to love it just as much as he does, and likely will end up saving for a while just so he can afford to get them something high quality. While dupes are fine for him to wear, he'd rather only get authentic pieces for others.

Honestly, it's very, VERY unlikely that Demetrius could run into Dae-Hyun while he's doing a "clean-up" since he usually takes care of it behind his shop, though if it were a situation where Dae-Hyun would have to get rid of the body somewhere else, I could see them running into each other, BUT only if Demetrius was also up to no good lol

In summary, if they were to catch each other, I think it would be a mutual respect sort of thing, no words needed. I think that's pretty much the summary of how I see Demetrius and Dae-Hyun's relationship in general, they both silently respect each other, but don't say it outright. They know not to get in each other's way either

whose bright idea was it to send an invitation the week of the event? like hello, would it hurt to show some consideration for the celebrity who was fully booked out? still, she tries her best to cancel what she can, rescheduling when possible.

was the last to arrive anyway (6.30pm); filming for the movie had dragged and caused the only remaining schedule left for that day to be delayed as well. barely got on the plane to jeju #tbh 

uses the event as an opportunity to finally meet with juyeong and air their grievances about their current situation.

honestly very annoyed when the discovery is made like, what is this? fucking scooby doo? oh my god, give her a break! she has actual issues to worry about.

headcanons

born in suwon, south korea, daehyun's family moved to anaheim, california when he was five years old. he suffered through his elementary school days with kids picking on him for not knowing english, for bringing 'smelly' foods from home for lunch, and being smaller than everyone. he'd come home each day crying, with his parents asking if he had made any friends and all daehyun wanted to do was to go back home.

during the summer before he would enter middle school, his father had gotten a new job that would require the moon family to move to aspen, colorado and that's when daehyun decided that he would create a new persona of himself -- he wouldn't be the same kid who got picked on back in california. he started to go by johnny and while he hadn't lost the accent, his fluency level in english got him by just enough that no one questioned him.

in second grade, at six years old, his parents would welcome a baby girl and let's just say, he holds a lot of regret about how he acted towards his sister when they were just children. she became the favorite, the one who could never do wrong. and at the time, he couldn't understand it, why his parents suddenly started treating him different but he simply blamed her -- they were happy until she came along. but after all these years, he eventually realized it was never her that he should have been upset with. but at his parents for practically pitting them against one another from the day she had been born.

entering high school, daehyun had lost the accent and only went by johnny. at this point, he was more american than korean, so why continue using that name? he had ultimately stopped speaking to his parents unless absolutely necessary because why should he try when they have the perfect little girl to take care of them later on in life? despite the good grades and attempts at extracurricular activities, none of it seemed to matter to them. so he began to hide away in his bedroom on weeknights and weekends, making friends with people through pc gaming because the only thing that mattered on there was skill and daehyun had an endless amount of it.

it started off with making small amounts here and there from local tournaments, his parents constantly mocking his dreams because who could make a living off playing video games? but daehyun knew there were people making some kind of living and he wanted to be just like them. so instead of having those classic high school experiences like attending dancings or falling in love, he made all of his online whether it be with warcraft, starcraft or league of legends.

but that dream got cut short when the outbreak began at only seventeen, just one year sigh of being eighteen where he had amazing (not so well thought out) plans of moving and going to college. being across the country and proving his parents wrong. now he was stuck with them and his sister and no internet. this was just great.

his father went first, not the healthiest man in the world, and daehyun was handed a gun. he had to be the man of the family now. protect his mother and sister. false assumptions being made that because he could shoot a weapon in a game, those skills would transfer to real life and boy was everyone so wrong about that. at nineteen, his hands shook whenever he held it in his hands. the things they expected him to shoot were real, there was no respawning.. but if he really thought about it, how different was their life now to a game like fallout 2? could he not just view the infected in the real world like the infected from the game? after that epiphany, his hands shook less and his accuracy got better. and unfortunately, daehyun would sometimes get a little too trigger happy.

at twenty, his mother passed and handed him a tarot card that represented death. it had been a hobby she picked up after her husband passed. if it kept her sane, he didn't judge but he also certainly didn't believe in it. but of all the cards she had to give him, did it have to be death? though he could vaguely remember her telling him that it didn't mean what he thought it did. while they only got close due to the virus and were ultimately forced to spend time together, he keeps the card folded up in his pocket as a reminder of her.

due to him and his sister not being all that close, they had no real reason to stick together once their mom passed and his sister had decided to run away in the middle of the night. she was just fourteen at the time, he spent days and weeks trying to find her because he assumed that's what a good older brother does. he hoped she hadn't met a terrible fate but eventually, even he knew he had to move on from the hunt. she was either alive and well, or she wasn't... to this day, he still thinks about her and if he could've done more in finding her.

luckily, at twenty one, daehyun had found the sanctuary that he had heard whispers about. he would offer his skills as a shooter, promising to protect those in the university like they were his own family as he had failed to protect his sister. and if he's not on duty, he always happily volunteers at the greenhouse or sometimes even the farm (when it isn't required) as he finds working with his hands to be therapeutic.

at the university: in the beginning, daehyun struggled to open up to people and make friends as his way of making friends had been through a computer screen but it's a bit easer for him now as he's been at the university for quite some time. it can be hard for him to turn off the 'video game' mindset -- like wanting to have the most amount of kills or trying to show off even though he understands it's not a race and he's there to protect over everything else. since there isn't much to speed run in real life, his current fixation is how quickly he can take apart his gun and put it back together. if he's not on duty or volunteering, he likes to play card games such as poker or you can find him pretending like he knows how to play chess.

his sister! -- tbh most of this is utp, i have no name in mind or fc (obviously has to be korean/korean american), and around 22?

an ex. -- i imagine they met at the university and they broke up due to having different opinions on whether or not the gate should be closed. since he's bisexual, fc can be quite literally anyone.

Sexuality Headcanon: this is a good question—i think for him it’s about the vibes—is he vibing with someone. tbh lucio strikes me as someone who falls in love with a lot of people in a lot of different ways; he’s always in love with someone or something. but at the same time i don’t know if the concept of being with someone is something that he’s truly thought out. he’s always on the move, always on the go, always living life to the fullest extent and in a manner of ways i think he just needs someone (or potentially plural) that matches his energy. might be poly-pan perhaps, i think that would work for him.

Gender Headcanon: nb masculine would be a fun headcanon for him tbh. i don’t know if i’m that pressed i just know he’s a dude lol

A ship I have with said character: i’m actually a pretty big bunnyribbit fan and when i’m not losing my mind over hana and daehyun (the real otp) then these two are always thick as thieves to me. just as i was talking about in the sexuality headcanon, i think hana just matches his energy. B.A.P reacting to their boyfriend’s tattoos

Yongguk:

As someone with tattoos himself, he doesn’t really care, or rather – he isn’t that surprised. Yongguk has a huge chest piece and his older sister is a tattoo artist, so he isn’t unfamiliar with ink and imagery on skin.

Of course, he is interested in your tattoos and would 100% support you whenever you’re considering getting a new one. Whenever you bring the topic up in a conversation, you can bet that Yongguk helps you brainstorm ideas and pulls up his phone to research various tattoo artists.

Yongguk will often find himself immersed in the pictures scattered all over your (s/c) skin and catch himself tracing the various colours on your exposed body whenever he wakes up before you. Tattoos for him is just another art form, and he loves the way they make your skin more vibrant.

Himchan: 

Having no tattoos at all, Himchan is a little shocked when he sees yours for the first time. However, that doesn’t mean he’s negative towards them. After the initial shock, Himchan’s curiosity gets the better of him and he can’t stop asking you questions. 

He secretly loves how badass they make you look and add to your overall ‘bad boy’ image, but he will constantly tease you for taking his bad boy role. Himchan also secretly loves the way other people look at you in public because you’re his gorgeous boyfriend! Though he will never admit it due to his pride. 

Since he has no tattoos, he knows very little about the process around getting one and that is the topic he will ask the most about. If you want to get a new one, Himchan would definitely ask you if he could come along, and if you got one for him, he will definitely cry. 

Daehyun:

He has some of his own and seeing yours would make him considering getting new ones. However, he cares the most about the messages they portray and the meaning behind them. Daehyun’s tattoos mean a lot to him and he loves to hear you talk about the stories behind your own.

Daehyun is the most likely out of B.A.P to get matching tattoos with you. Not your names necessarily, but maybe something dear to the both of you and your relationship. Your boyfriend is a sap after all.

A thing he likes to do is kissing them. Whenever you wear something that shows off the ink you got or wear nothing at all, there isn’t a single moment where his lips have been all over your skin.

Youngjae:

Another member who doesn’t have any tattoos and probably won’t get anyone either. Youngjae is also the member who’s the most shocked by your tattoos, but that quickly passes as you explain each of them to him and changes into understanding.

He grows rather fond of your tattoos and how they look on you. Youngjae has his favourites and he is not afraid to rank them and point out the ones he likes the least. Since he knows you are confident in them and in your own decisions, he knows that his own opinions won’t overrule your own. The ‘critiques’ often tend to make you laugh instead.

Even if he doesn’t want tattoos of his own and means they won’t fit his image and personality, he is quick to realise how good they look on you. That results in him becoming your own personal stylist some days, Youngjae is rather persuasive too because he won’t leave the flat if you’re not wearing what he wants you to wear.

Jongup:

Jongup doesn’t have any either and he doesn’t really have any strong opinions regarding the topic. In fact, he doesn’t really register that you have tattoos until one of his fellow band members asks him about it or points it out.

He feels quite awkward for not noticing it earlier and it just makes him shyer to ask you about it. Because of his awkwardness and seemingly ‘disinterest’ in the topic, you ask him if they make him uncomfortable. Feeling guilty, he explains the situation really embarrassed to which you reassure him with long and loving kisses that he can ask whenever and whatever.

After getting attentive to your beautiful work, he feels a bit flustered whenever they are visible, not only for not noticing them before but also because he sees how handsome you look with them. Jongup is the least subtle being you know about, so it’s easy to spot whenever he has looked at them too long due to his red ears.

Junhong:

Having looked up to Yongguk for years, it’s no surprise that Junhong has tattoos. He would be the most excited of the members when he finds out that his boyfriend has tattoos as well. There is no chance you will be able to explain them all without a lot of interruptions from him.

Junhong is the boyfriend who loves to take cool pictures, so a good chunk of the pictures on his camera roll would be the both of you wearing clothes to show your tattoos off and your bodies pressed and tangled together so the tattoos are included in the shot.

Seeing your skinned filled with them makes him smile and he will trace them whenever he has the chance, however, most of the times that result in a tickle fight. Junhong has no idea why,  but he feels extremely confident with you and by seeing you express yourself in the art covering your skin.

i haven’t spoken much about daehyun so look out folks -- here’s some headcanons about my favorite reaper!!

keep in mind he’s based upon the reapers from goblin so!! he functions like a normal human being would except... he’s not a human being and has some supernatural abilities!

favorite food?? he’s partial to pizza and any kind of chicken-based dish!

and seaweed soup bc soojin has made it for him every year after the second time he sent her off into her next life :’ )

since they can’t possibly know his birthday, she makes it on the anniversary of her second death/meeting with daehyun bc “ twice might just be a coincidence but i don’t believe in those -- this friendship was fated!! ”

that black hat all reapers have to keep the humans from seeing them? his is a dad hat bc fancy clothes are uncomfortable and impractical for his job

also it would drive him nuts if he had a fancy hat but wore casual clothes!! gross!!

and he just prefers casual clothes overall. jackets are fun and anything other than dress shoes are comfy!

without fail, dae has cried or at the very least teared up every time he’s sent a spirit off

tbh he likes to act as if everything is such a chore, but he’s so soft and sentimental and actually feels really happy to see these souls find peace and is all broken up when they’ve died before their time

soojin has been picking out names for daehyun since the beginning of their friendship -- daehyun isn’t the first name he’s had, and it won’t be the last

that being said, for the sake of having a backstory in case a human should ask about him, he typically claims being related to soojin and then tries to weasel his way out of having to say anything else

one final thing! daehyun is very much about changing the things you can and not stressing over what you can’t change bc otherwise!! he might drive himself nuts. why is he stuck as a reaper?? well he doesn’t and can’t know, and he can’t change that he’s a reaper, but he CAN reduce his time by hunting down these lost souls, so that’s what he’s gonna do!!
