Alright folks, buckle in, this is definitely one of my top three. Morally gray character as a romantic lead? Check. Undying devotion of his entire life to the rescue and care of the girl? Check. Literally earthquake-inducing sexual chemistry? Double check. After all this time? Always. (#TransLivesMatter)

* I like how he’s so prepared to meet her every need, even though her needs are so different from his own.

* Except for the railings overlooking the bottomless pit right outside the house…seriously, Kaleb?

* “He was the monster that stalked nightmare, and they both knew it.” And he’s still the romantic lead ❤️

* Should I feel bad that I raked Dev over the coals for falling for his prisoner, while Kaleb gets a free pass? No. I will never feel bad for telling Dev how terrible he is. And the situation is totally different (I keep telling myself).

* “Rebuild your shields and I’ll set you free.” It was a lie. He would never let her go. >What a romantic 😍

* “If she demanded vengeance, he’d turn the world bloodred.”

* “He would never use his mind to leash hers, but he would track her through rain, hail, fire itself. Never again was anyone, even Sahara herself, taking her from him.”

* I’m sorry, he has a significant mark on his left forearm, and you don’t want me to make the comparison that this is an AU Snape/Lily?

* “Sahara! I’ll come for you! Survive! Survive for me!” The echo of that primal promise had run in a continuous loop in her mind for the duration of her captivity.

* Wait, Santano was an anchor, and DarkRiver just executed him out of nowhere? And the Net was….stable?

* I don’t care for the “womb clenching” phrase. I mean, I get it, but “low in the belly” or something like that would get the point across without the birther associations, right?

* “Who owns it?” “You do.” He’d had it built according to specifications she’d outlined at fifteen, watched over it all the years of her captivity, using lethal force to repel anyone who meant it harm. “Welcome home.” 😍🥵🔥

* Almost immediately followed by: “Tell me you aren’t evil.” Please. Kaleb’s thumbs moved against her temples. “I’m sorry.”

* They were best friends for years and years. Omg, I love this story.

* Oh, the charms. Does it get more romantic? More heartbreakingly, tenderly, soul-clenchingly romantic???

* His interrogation of Tatiana is so ruthlessly cold. The fact he’s still kinda hot in this scene probably means something disturbing about me…

* “Even more so was the fact that her need for him had in no way been diminished by the darkness that encased him. It made her consider exactly how much she’d accept, how much she’d forgive, how far she’d walk into the abyss for this deadly Tk who had a claim on her so deep, reason had nothing to do with it.” But is seems Sahara and I have the same flaw, at least 😍

* Completely trashing a room due to a kiss is hot. The fact that every window *except the one she was leaning on* was broken is a very hot detail.

* He’s so broken, but he’s still able to let her go. Knows he can’t keep her caged. Ugh, the angst of it all! My inner angsty teenager is so happy right now.

* Aden and Vasic considering killing Kaleb if necessary gives chills. “Good guys” accepting the necessity of taking each other out is also sorts of deliciously gray.

* I was going to write this whole diatribe about how Kaleb saying “[sex] will only ever be with me” was ok because A) fantasy B) he’s hot C) don’t judge me, ok??? But then he points out that she’s the only person in the whole world that has the power to stop/kill him, and he even pretty much expects her to at some point because he knows what he is, and I’m gonna stop judging myself. Completely hot.

* “I offered him a quick death in exchange for the information,” Kaleb said, as if speaking of a business negotiation. “He kept his end of the bargain; I kept mine.” 😳

* Aww, he’s a little hurt she likes the aerie, because he thinks she maybe likes it better than the house he built for her.

* I like that the author uses the word “penis” for Kaleb and the Arrowsbut nobody else. It is exactly the word they would use, not “cock” or “member” or whatever. Great word choice.

* “No one but Sahara had ever cared enough about him to worry.”

* Just casually dropping in the bullet train that crushed Annie 😊. Another, what, three books for her to figure it out?

* “You’re mine.” Simple, quiet words that were a punch to the chest. “I will fight for you, today, tomorrow, and all the tomorrows to come.” - Sahara. Now it’s her turn to fight for him ❤️

* “Are you awake?” “Yes. What do you need?” “For you not to kill someone.” Ha!

* “Would you have attempted to execute me if I’d answered otherwise?” “Yes,” came the brutal answer. “It would’ve destroyed a piece of me to end your life, but I would’ve done it.” I❤️Judd

* “I will fight you endlessly if I think you’re wrong,” she said, taking his lips in a passionate, possessive kiss, “but I will never judge you.”

* Have I mentioned I love Judd/Ghost? Let me do it again anyway.

* “Her intelligence had always been one of the most attractive things about her.” Yeah, that’s hot.

* “He didn’t know what else to do, how to comfort her, so he simply held her, held the only person in the world who had ever cried for him.” 😭

* “Kaleb had begged Enrique not to touch her, the only time in his life he had ever begged. He’d been willing to give up the final ragged shreds of his soul if that was what it took, but Enrique had other plans.” This is giving all sorts of Snape and pleasing my inner teenager! (#TransLivesMatter)

* Oh, he remembered the whole incident wrongly, blamed himself for all these years!!!! So tragic 😭😭

* Emotionally charged pleas that are misinterpreted by those around them? I can’t stop making comparisons. Please don’t judge me too harshly. (“Stop. Don’t.” “Severus, please.”) my angsty inner teen is just frollicking in the pain of fictional characters.

* It’s alright, Kaleb.” 😭😭😭

* “I love you.” - Kaleb “I know.” -Sahara

* Sex on the patio floor in the middle of a thunderstorm. They do not do anything halfway.

* And now he’s passing off the angsty romance baton to the Arrows and I am *here for it.*

Oh yeah, this was such a pleasure to gobble down I have a hard copy of my very own. Cause I plan to actually deface a book to mark my favorite lines and passages. It has burrowed in my braid. I am a Kaleb/Sahara fan.

Since you were on top of the black duvet, Gilbert simply covered you with the part of it that was on his side of the bed - so that now you're completely wrapped in it like a warm, tight cocoon. You crane your neck upwards to see him reading calmly as before, with his back rested against the bedframe. He's completely out of reach and you here you wanted to nuzzle onto him to signal you're awake...

Determinedly, you push your feet upward, crawling closer to your lover, thankful for the added glide of the satin covers. Gilbert's attention is successfully captured - less by the nuzzling and more by the sight that preceded it.

"Has my little bunny turned into a little worm?"

A worm!! He could at least say a caterpillar... Though you know deep in your heart that Gilbert would always see you as nothing short of dear to him, no matter what form you take - he'll do anything for you, make sure you're loved and taken care of. Still, you can't help but ask a very silly question...

"Would I still love you if you were a worm? Heehe."

You don't appreciate the "wouldn't you like to know?" tone of his little giggle, but it seems like he's giving it a thought after all. You begin to regret asking.

"I want to see something. Why don't you try giving me a kiss?"

Without the use of limbs to prop yourself up?! You'd rather wiggle your way back down in retreat, turn around, fall asleep, and pretend all of this was just a dream.

From VnC characters I’d say Luna, Riche and Olivier. 

Luna is just!! everything I want to be!! Also the way they seem kinda other-worldly on first glance but are silly and vibing when you get to know them. I literally was described like this by multiple people. 

Olivier is kinda the same. He appears detached and cold, especially next to extraverted sunshine boy Roland, but five seconds later it becomes obvious he actually has potential to be as unhinged as Roland.

Riche is just so me with her fascination of history and random info dumping onto people she likes idk I get her. 

Fun fact: I wanted some canon dhamp content so badly I even dreamed about reading a Riche centric chapter where she met Kresnik (it happened on December 7, 2023). Soon after that Jun released chapter 61.2. Which was very Riche centric. And had Kresnik mentions. And also felt like death flag for Riche, but still. It happened!

Now to Pandora Hearts.  

Here I’m definitely going with Leo. I just saw him and went “yep that’s me”. Then… he became plot relevant… And, well, I too would commit atrocities if Elliot died as a direct result of my attempts to save him. So yeah Leo is on the list… 

Now that I think about it, early Leo and Riche have some similarities in their vibes. 

Vincent also resonates with me lately, which is funny because I was a Break girlie during first read. Oddly, this happens to all Break girlies I know so below see real life observation:
