im so obsessed with The Apothecary Diaries rn for so many reasons, but my favorite plot development so far is how they managed to place so much mystery and dread behind who Rakan was, including his dubious reasons behind his interest in Mao Mao. similar to Mao Mao it sent chills down my spine every time his name was even mentioned, so it’s insane how he went from THAT to later being like one of my favorite/most sympathetic characters?? he was a terrifying villain now im sobbing over the mistakes he made, the happy life that he and Fonshen were robbed of. the writing is insane! it never ceases to amaze me. i haven’t taken an interest in manga in so long, but I’m so happy I chose this one to start up with again.

every time raine appears and a variant of raine's rhapsody starts playing and in for the future when it plays this grand sweeping rendition of it when raine's staring in awe at harpy eda and you realize it's not just raine's leitmotif it's raine and eda's song it's both raine's rhapsody and eda's requiem at the same time and it's like. okay dana do you want me to walk into the ocean.

koopalings in New York au ideas

So @skippyin has an au where Junior runs away and ends up in New York home alone style and all I can think about is HOW GOOD OF AN IDEA THAT IS FOR BOWUIGI? MY GOODNESS!

so here are some brain bunnies hopping about in my head from that

After his little escapade of running away Junior's ready to go back home. he's tired cold and hungry, but cannot for the life of him find the pipe back home. Disheartened and scared he hides in an alley and starts to cry. Que Luigi, who did not fall into the pipe with Mario and has been searching for them since, passing by and finding the kid.

At this point junior has learned that the humans here can't be trusted and he tries to bite Luigi. Luigi doesn't give up though, he explains to the child that he lives in the building he's leaning against and to ring bell 69(Nice) if he changes mind and brings him a water bottle, food, a blanket and a small first aid. Luigi brings Junior more water and food every day, trying to chat with him but failing.

after about a week it rains, cold and hard. Junior, being a reptile, starts to hibernate from the cold and finally decides to take Luigi up on his offer.

As junior settles into Luigi's apartment the pair get to talking and eventually Junior reveals he knows Mario after a nightmare about the hero. the boy explains that Mario has hurt him and his siblings on multiple occasions (Remember Luigi isn't there to pull him back from hurting them so they dealt with the full force angry Mario.)

Luigi is naturally horrified and changes his plans from finding Mario for his or their parents sake, to finding so he can beat the ever loving shit out of him. So the pair retrace junior's step using his graffiti and find the pipe. Find Mario and Bowser Mid-fight which Luigi stops by stepping in between them.

Mario's excited to see his little brother again and expects help fighting Bowser. You can imagine his surprise when he gets decked. After a brief back and forth between punch Luigi knocks him out and turns to Bowser like he didn't just beat his brother half to death.

"So your-a the little rascals Papa! Nice to meet-a you!"

Bowser cannot fall fast enough.

ngl, im a little confused as to why mal was smiling during that glimpse we saw of him? like???

i was expecting him to be utterly devastated about the mc's disappearance, like getting wasted at a tavern to try to ease his pain or idk getting into a street fight with someone, but no.

instead he was sitting on some random ass building like some kind of assassin's creed character and smiling. like bro. are you not upset?? are you not in absolute melancholy???

i just wanted some angst and i didn't receive it 😔
