Dallas' favorite thing to do sometimes is just to watch Ponyboy work. He sits on the fence of the farm he owns, smoking, while Ponyboy has the dogs herd the sheep, while he gets the horses back to their places in the stable, while he talks to the farm hands.

He's always told Dallas he can handle it all himself — You're twenty and change, and you don't know enough about this work. Might as well sit there. — and fine, sure he's capable of doing it. That doesn't mean the itch to come over, wrap an arm around him and kiss him or to go and help him isn't there. Dallas just wants to prove himself to Ponyboy over and over, that he wants this, that he ain't too young to be with even though they've already gone through a rut together.

It's hard to sit there sometimes, and yet the confidence Ponyboy has is something he can't ever get bored of. The dogs know their commands, the horses never seem irate with Ponyboy around, the hands always want to help. (Maybe too much he thinks.)

At the end of the day though, with the light catching his hair enough to make the silver in his hair shine, Dallas just wants Ponyboy.

Louis de Pointe du Lac

This is for the tv version because the show took over my brain in ways the books never did (also it's been a while since I've read any of them)

Louis ships: Lestat: I mean obviously. To quote A Softer World, "Sometimes when two people love each other, it's really unfortunate" (link)

Daniel: The framing device of the show! Daniel met Louis when he was 20, was nearly killed by him, and then Louis sends him a letter 49 years later he flies across the world to go meet him. Completely insane. The young Daniel version is fun (70s Louis seems batshit in a completely different way than 2020s or 1910s Louis), but the old man version of Louis/Daniel really gets me. Louis started off looking older than Daniel (33 to 20) to looking much younger (33 to 69). They're both such bitches to each other. Louis basically negging Daniel ("you've grown old") but also keeping up with his career and teasing him about his sexuality ("we met in a gay bar didn't we Daniel", feeding in front of him, describes how RashidArmand tastes). Daniel insisting to himself and Louis that he's just there for the story but also making some extraordinarily questionable journalistic choices (for a story that will not be believed anyway) and cruel comments in order to get a sense of control over the situation. Also, as confirmed by Eric Bogosian himself, he wants to kiss Louis (link). Also they are both massive hypocrites so there's self-recognition, which they both hate.

Armand: Armand was roleplaying for basically the whole season so we don't have a clear vision of what exactly the tv version is like yet, but I'm still into it. The promo clips and posters are very sexy. Also the fact that they pretended he was a human for so long in front of Daniel is VERY funny. I am also really enjoying the Louis/Armand fic! Just not sure how much of that dynamic will end up making sense with s2.

Louis/Daniel/Armand: Note that this is Louis-centric for me, since we don't know what the Armand/Daniel dynamic is in this version of canon. A lot of people have been speculating that Daniel has had memories erased, and that may be true, but I don't know if I agree that a whole relationship with Armand happened in the past. But they are both definitely into Louis and he deserves threesomes.

Jonah: He is handsome and seems like a decent person. And they had pretty good chemistry.

Bonus crossover ship: Spike from the Buffyverse. Specifically with 70s Louis. They should be friends with benefits. (Ignore worldbuilding problems, this is some situation where they meet between universes or something)

Sometimes, Jack thinks about the newspaper his Mama keeps in his wallet. The one folded up, talking about hoods turned heroes. His father's face is there: Tim Shepard, snarling at the camera in an old mugshot. His Mama's face looks scared, an unnatural blonde. Then there's Johnny Cade, someone he's heard of but never met who looks scared himself.

He's seen the burn scars on his Mama's arms and shoulder and he's seen the way his father has intentionally touched him there to hurt him in arguments or when he's yelled at him I saved your life! And this is what you're doing? He's remembered the hard sound of his father being shoved back or his Mama's voice climbing higher and higher. He remembers hiding in the closet with his sisters, wondering why his Mama couldn't just get a gun and get rid of his father.

He knows why, at his age, why it hasn't happened. Who would take care of them if his Mama just killed him? Who would be the one to help them? Uncle Curly? Their Aunt Angela, who had run out of here as soon as she could with his cousins?

Sometimes, he thinks about the man on the television who resembles Mama sometimes or the one in Florida who sent a post card once. He wonders why Mama won't talk to them, and he's never given an answer.

Mostly, though, as he starts to drift asleep in the bed they've all crammed themselves on, he thinks that this is the safest he's ever felt in a long, long time.

3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom this year? Which one?

I’d like to write Half Bad, Bones and All, Interview with the Vampire, The Boys, and maybe House of the Dragon. 

6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list?

The thing is, most fics I start immediately when I get the idea and then I just continue it at a different time. So any time I get an idea, I immediately jot down a moment or a scene, even if it takes me years to finish or I switch to working on something else. But hmmm, I would like to write Lestat/Louis (though I don’t have a solid idea, I just want to write it), and I also have a horrible fic idea in which Claudia has a crush on Louis that he would never reciprocate, and it just ends up messy and ugly for them both. I also want to write a five times Claudia fic that’s gen, but I did technically start that one.  

8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?

For SPN fandom, I really wanna write in fic in which John sexually abuses both Dean and Sam, but at different times, so neither of them know about it until after his death. It’s just gonna be a hot mess and harrowing to write. I guess anything that deals with rape trauma is going to be a harrowing experience regardless of how well it turns out. In general, I’ve always been a someone who writes fucked up things since I got into fandom so I’m not so much afraid of the initial reaction, I have full faith and confidence I can handle any negative reactions. It’s just it’s going to be emotionally a lot, for me. 

I also have this original fic F/F idea where an aspiring journalist kidnaps a serial killer and keeps her captive and then tries to interview her. That’s something I gotta work up the bravery to do tbh it’s hard for me to be compelled to abandon fanfic to write original fic.

5.TV show of the year?

SLEEPY PRINCESS IN THE DEMON CASTLE

it's an obnoxiously adorable anime series, it's like the first show i watched this year, and it's so stupid cozy and silly. also i just love all these 'demons' who are constantly stumped by the completely unfazed princess who has zero fear and just wants to sleep - and will make violence if it gets her what she wants lol.

8.Game of the year?

...Powerwash Simulator. it is the chillest game ever. I love it.

19.What’re you excited about for next year?

hopefully moving! or at least starting to get the ball rolling on that, it depends on how the year goes, but I actually am feeling cautiously optimistic about it finally happening. *fingers crossed*
