Hello. Some would call me the Dark Tortoise of Water, Northern Seat of the Four Magistrates.

In Celinia, I am known professionally as the “Melancholic Lotus Dancer,” Nelum (鬱蓮). I mainly do fan dance and Eastern opera gigs, sometimes stageplay adaptations of historical events and Tenko’s works.

Very few even call me Vincent (畢參), but he is not actually me… merely one character amongst many I have played throughout my life.

My real name is Ma Jingcheng - but just Cheng will do. It’s only one syllable, and I know some of you are less likely to mess up that way.

Magic users typically live longer and age slower than regular beings. Me? The chthonic gods do not dare claim me. Back when I had just turned into a vampire, I battled Empress Tefna when she tried to claim my soul. As a result of my triumph, I get to keep her “gift,” my humanity, and my eternal life that I share with my two siblings. I bet a certain disgraced paladin would be really jealous of me if he learns about this.

Today, you and Charles had been invited to WIRED to answer some of the internet’s most searched questions about the two of you. You are both seated in a director’s chair, in front of the camera in a cozy studio, as the camera’s red light blinked on, indicating that recording has already started.

“Hello everyone, welcome back to WIRED. I’m Charles Leclerc,” Charles began, flashing a charming smile at the camera. “I’m Y/N Leclerc, we are the Leclerc twins and you’re watching disney channel.” Both you and Charles laughed at what you had just said.

It took you a full minute to stop laughing, you were both clutching your stomachs due to how much you had laughed, “I’m kidding guys,” when you two are already calmed down, a staff handed you two boards where all of the questions are covered by a tape, “my sister and I were going to answer the internet’s most searched questions about us, courtesy of WIRED.”

“I have a feeling that this is going to be interesting.” You turned to Charles, “or just really weird.” He answered.

“Are you ready?” You asked, and Charles nodded, “you go first.” You motioned Charles. He removed the cover for the first question, “okay, first…is Y/N Leclerc single?”

You laughed at the question, “yes, for those who are asking, I am single.” Charles playfully glared at the camera, “don’t even think about it guys, no boyfriend until she’s 40. Anyone want to try and shoot their shot, you’ll pass all of us, her brothers first.” Everyone in the studio laughed at what Charles had said, “and we will not go easy on you!”

“Sorry guys,” you raised your hands in defeat, “you have to go through my brothers if you want to get to me. It’s a non-negotiable requirement.” You chuckled.

“Okay. Does Charles Leclerc have any siblings?” You read from your board.

“Yes. I have two other brother, Arthur and Lorenzo, and one sister,” he motioned to you, “y/n here is our only baby sister.” You raised a thumbs up, “je suis fille unique. I am the best sibling.”

Charles eyes widened, “that is highly debatable.” You turned to him, “remember that time I helped you sneak out to go kart racing when you were grounded?” Smiling cheekily at him. “Okay, fine. Best sibling.”

“When did y/n started fencing?” You leaned back on your chair, “I started fencing at twelve.”

“Funny thing though, fencing wasn’t your first sport.” Charles said, “oh yeah! I started figure skating, but when the rink that I go to for skating was closed down, it was hard to find a new skating rink. So that why I chose fencing.”

“If the skating rink that she used to go to didn’t closed, she would’ve been a figure skater.” Charles laughed, “she is really good at ice skating.” You smiled.

“What is Charles’s favorite food?” You said as you removed the cover of the question, “Pasta. My favorite food is pasta.” He smiled, “maman’s lasagna are the best.” Charles nodded in agreement.

“Does y/n have any pets?” You nodded, “I do have one. His name is Gaius, and he’s a caracal, I named him after Gaius Julius Caesar, the Roman general. He’s also my training partner.” You grabbed your phone and showed the camera a photo of Gaius, making all of the staff awed in cuteness.

“Gaius is a bit weird, he always hisses at me, but he perfectly knows who I am. Are you sure he’s not pissed off every time he sees me?” You laughed, “no! It his way of communicating with you, silly. He’s not necessarily being aggressive or defensive, and he’s just keeping you on your toes, literally.”

“Oh my, I fear for Leo when he and Gaius have a playdate.” You hit his arm in a playful way, pretending to take a full offense on what he had said, “my Gaius is a very good boy, thank you very much! I don’t allow any Gaius slander in this household. Every toungue that rises against Gaius shall fall.” Causing Charles to laugh.

Your eyes suddenly widened at a thought. “Do you think Max would let Gaius have a playdate with Jimmy and Sassy? Or with Roscoe when I bring Gaius during race weekend?” Charles shrugged, “you should ask Max and Lewis, I’m sure they’d be happy to meet Gaius.”

“What was Charles and y/n’s childhood like?” Charles read, “our childhood is pretty much normal, to be honest.” He agreed. “We had a lot of fun growing up.” Charles added.

“Remember that one time we built a makeshift race track in the backyard and invited all the neighborhood kids for a grand prix.” You both laughed as Charles remembered the memory, “yes! And you insisted on giving everyone nicknames based on real F1 drivers. You called yourself ‘Little Schumacher’.” You nodded in agreement, “it is true guys, and Charles here is ‘Tiny Senna’. We had so much fun that day though, even if we ended up having a lot of scraped knees and elbows.”

“Why does Charles speak Italian?” You said, as you tore the cover from the board, “as you all know, I grew up in Monaco, where we speak French, but I also spend a lot of time in Italy for racing. The team that I’m racing for is from Italy, so it’s pretty much kind of a requirement to know Italian. And my little sister here also speaks Italian!” He said excitedly, putting an arm around you and hugging you sideways.

“Sì, posso parlare Italiano abbastanza bene. Durante i miei anni universitari, ho studiato in Italia. Ho anche rappresentato l'Italia nella scherma.” Charles smiled, “Adoriamo una regina poliglotta!” You laughed at what he said.

“Is y/n an olympian?” Charles read, “my baby sister just qualified for the Olympics 2024 for fencing, so yes, she’s already an olympian!” He answered for you.

“Technically, I’m not yet an olympian since I haven’t competed yet in the olympics. Right after I compete in the Olympics, I can say that I am finally an olympian.” You laughed, “well to me you’re already an olympian.” He shrugged.

“I never really competed in Olympics level, but national and internationally, yes. Back when I was still with my Italian team.” Charles nodded, “and she always makes us proud no matter what!”

“Does Charles believe in aliens?” You laughed as you read the weird question, “this is the first weird question that we got!” You exclaimed.

“Huh,” he ponders for a moment, “you know, I never really thought about it.” Charles said, scatching his head head. “But considering how fast some of those drivers are, maybe they’re from another planet.” He chuckled.

“Or maybe you just need to step up your game,” you teased, earning a laugh from Charles.

“Can y/n beat Charles in a race?” He read, “depends on the race. On foot, I can probably beat him. In car, definitely not.” You answered.

“We should try a foot race someday. Though, you’d probably win with those fencing legs of yours.” You both laugh, “it’s true! Guys, if you watch her fence, she’s like a crab on a piste!” Laughing again at what he said, you softly hit him with the board. “I do not!”

“Did Charles tried fencing?” You read, “he tried once. Charles was very curious about fencing, so when I began teaching him, he was so eager and full of energy. Let’s just say he should stick to racing cars.”

“Hey! I wasn’t that bad,” Charles protested, a mock frown on his face. “Remember when you accidentally hit my trainer with the foil?” You countered, raising an eyebrow.

Charles laughed, shaking his head. “Okay, maybe I was a but too enthusiastic.” Raising both of his hands in defeat.

As you and Charles continued answering questions, with a little bit of bickering and teasing each other, it was clear that your bond as siblings is strong and filled with mutual respect and love, which is what other people don’t get to see too often. In this wired video, they got the chance to finally see a full glimpse of it.

The final question of the session appeared, and it made you smile, “what is the best advice Charles has give y/n?” Charles looked at you with a soft smile. “I’ve always told her to never give up, no matter how tough things get. When she had ACL, it was was a very hard time for her, and for our family as well. All this negativity began clouding her, and it’s a time in her life that I wouldn’t want for her to experience ever again.” He got a bit emotional, and you just hugged him. “It hurts to think that a career you build so hard and put all of your passion in just crumble because of an injury.”

When you had ACL, your whole family was affected. They had cried with you, because they know how much you love fencing and it was basically your life. You had won countless of competitions, and with your injury, you were scared that your career might end right there and then. The rehabilitation was hard for you as well, during the sessions, thoughts of just giving up had invaded your mind. But your family was there with you every step of the way, helping you recover.

“She’s one of the strongest people I know.” You were touched, “and I’ve always told him to always believe in himself, because he’s capable of doing amazing things. Don’t pay attention to what other people say to you, people would always grab the chance to criticize every little thing about you, but you don’t need to pay attention to it. Those things are irrelevant. At the end of the day, it’s you and what you think is best that matters.” You smiled.

With the video wrapping up, Charles turned to the camera. “Thank you for joining us! This has been a really fun experience. Make sure to like, subscribe, and the bell icon for more videos from WIRED.”

“And don’t forget to follow us on our social media, which is linked on the description box.” You added, smiling.

You both stood up from the chair, and you jumped on Charles’s back, giving you piggy back ride and sharing a high-five.

“Can we go get a pizza?” You asked, “of course we can!” Charles replied.

The camera had managed to get a clip of the genuine connection that you and Charles had before they had stopped filming.

have you read the we hunt the flame duology by hafsah faisal I really liked it especially as her debut and her as a muslim author just makes me so proud 🥺 but her next book in nov, a tempest of tea, the premise of it screams that it's made for me, it's going to be king arthur meets peaky blinders with vampires and it's a heist! along with babel (still haven't read the poppy war tho I'm scared of it!) it's my most anticipated read this year

i haven't read that one, although i've heard a lot about it! i'm glad you enjoyed it, isnt it great that a muslim author is getting lots of recognition<3 up until a few years ago, it wasn't that easy to find books with poc characters or written by poc authors but now they're everywhere and it's very refreshing

Hi Milky!! I hope you've had a nice week so far 💙 I'm sorry for not writing for a bit I have been having some physical and mental health issues :( but I am doing much better now! Slowly recovering 🥰 thank you for the tweet of all the great treasure content!! I am so excited to watch it all!! I still can't find a date when the darari music video is going to be released but I'm really excited!! It'll be a lot of fun to participate in their first promotions!

As for Kingdom oh my gosh they are best boys 💙 all of their title tracks are amazing but for bsides id highly recommend fallen Star and promise! They are both slower songs but are really beautiful!! And for something more upbeat I love illusion and Picasso :))) you'll have to let me know what you think!! I've already mentioned Arthur and Louis a bunch but they are a 7 member group with each member loosely representing a king in history! The stories in the mvs and the title songs themselves are really influenced by the culture of the king and I think it's so cool. Their latest comeback Ascension was for their Korean king Dann but in the past they have done Excalibur for Arthur, Karma for Chiwoo (representing China) and Black Crown for Ivan (representing Russia/Slavic areas). I'm a big history nerd so all this stuff is so cool to me. They really study the cultures of the areas they are representing and it always turns out amazing. The more you look into it, the more details you are able to pull out. It makes the whole theorizing thing much more fun imo!

Alarmed, she immediately spun around and looked into the face of a man Arthur had talked about yesterday evening and whom she had seen on a wanted poster in Blackwater: Micah Bell, the probably most striking member of this gang.

Well, since Ann knew herself best and therefore also knew that it really didn’t take much to provoke her and drive her up the walls she preferred to turn away and continue without a word for now. That – so she thought at least – would be sign enough for him to just go on and leave her alone. But apparently this guy didn’t care at her gesture at all; instead of just passing by he was still standing there, eying her in an awkward way.

Tolerating this creep playing his game for a short while, it finally became too much for her. “So you’re just standing there staring, or what’s it you want?”

“You’re Morgan’s little slut, ain’t you?” Bell finally brought up, waiting for her reaction then.

Ann tried so hard but couldn’t stop herself from looking daggers at him in the end. What a goddamn disrespectful and condescending son of a bitch! Now she exactly understood why Arthur didn’t think highly of that guy. Men like Bell were scum, to say at least.

So she never let him out of her sight for a second, especially not when he eventually began to move and – passing her – stopped not far from her next to her pile of wet clothes. “See, you’ve got that nasty scar on your face our boy Lenny told us ‘bout when he saw you hangin’ out with Morgan.” While Bell was talking his shit he picked up one of her drawers and had a look at them. Whistling, he then commented: “Nice. Slimly built, huh?”

Gritting her teeth, Ann turned away in silence and wrung out the shirt at her hands. If that moron continued only a little bit, huge harm would be done to him. Then again it probably wouldn’t have benefited her, if she celebrated her possible debut with a murder. That, plus she had left all her weapons at Arthur’s tent.

“Ain’t you talkin’ to me, girl?” he continued to press her, now squatting right beside her. “Because I’m not him?” Grinning disgustingly, he let the still damp drawers fall into the sand to make sure they got dirty again.

Pure intention and Ann wasn’t willing to put up with his shit any longer. Thus in response she glowered at him, raising her voice soft but firm. “You know, I used to know a lot of men like you.”

“Really?” Bell sounded amused.

Putting on a smile, the bounty huntress nodded. “Yeah. You wanna know what I did to them?”

“Tell me,” he spoke under his breath, still with that grin on his lips.

“I cut off their fucking balls,” she whispered back. “And you’re next if you don’t fuck off and leave me alone already. I am none of your servants here, so watch out what you say to me, got it?”

Bell’s facial expression only changed for a split second before that disgusting grin took over again. Standing up, he eventually admitted: “Wow. You really are on fire, I’ll give you that.”

Now in the belief that he had finally understood, she found the time to wring out Arthur’s shirt at last. Micah was apparently leaving – she could tell from the footsteps that were moving away and didn’t expect anything bad when he suddenly grabbed her by her braid. Roughly tearing her head back, he brought his face close to hers, sneering.

“Now let me tell you somethin’, little one. I know whoyou are and what you are. A fucking bounty hunter that stabbed Morgan. In fact that makes you our enemy, although I must admit I’m a little bit sad that you failed in killin’ him.” Jerking her hair, he nearly brought tears to her eyes. “If you wanna stay here with your precious cowpoke, I suggest that you better back off a bit. See, daddy Dutch no longer ain’t listenin’ to what little Arthur says. Understood?”

Ann reached for his wrist, squeezing it as hard as she could, but his grip on her was viselike. “Fuck you,” she then just growled.

“Watch out, little slut!” Another jerk before Bell finally let go of her braid, tossing her to the ground. “I’m warnin’ you,” he advised and mercifully moved away from her towards the campfire.

Bewildered, Ann gazed after him. The hell was that?! And why on earth did he know so well about her when Arthur said that he hadn’t told anyone anything? One had to treat Bell with caution – that much was certain. It took her a while to calm down enough to pick up her now dirty drawers to wash them again.

21-year-old London model/singer/songwriter/producer Gia Lily is finding her voice in music. Her honest lyrics draw you in, her distinctive melodies keep you captured, her vulnerability through her songs show similarities with the likes of Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Banks. Most recently, Gia released her 6-track EP ‘XXI’.

Amandah Opoku sat down with Gia Lily to talk about her debut EP ‘XXI’, musical inspirations and more!

Amandah Opoku: Gia Lily, thank you for doing this interview today! Before we kick off please tell our readers about yourself and one random fact people do not know about you Gia Lily: You are most welcome! Thank you for having me! My name is Gia Lily and I am a singer, songwriter, producer, actress and model from London, and I love halloumi cheese more than anything :)  AO: You are currently pursuing a career as a model. What inspired you to pursue a career in music? GL: Music was always a massive part of my childhood, forever loving Queen, ACDC, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse and so on. I wrote my first song when I was eight years old, spending at least four hours a day sat at my piano writing music. When I turned 20 in August last year, I decided I wanted to start sharing my music with the world. Since then, I have released five singles and my debut EP, ‘XXI’, came out a few days ago! So music has always been something I have wanted to pursue, and I am so glad I have finally done it :) 

AO: What artists would you say inspire your music and writing? GL: Dua Lipa, Mae Muller, James Arthur, Lennon Stella, and Freddie Mercury. All for completely different reasons, but each of these artists have their own impact on my music.   AO: As you pursue your career as an artist, what would you say are your biggest challenges? GL: Good question! I love a challenge, so all of mine are positive! For example, not letting other people’s opinions get the better of you. If you love a lyric, put it in the song! If they don’t, someone else will. After all, it is YOUR music, so you make your magic how you want to make it.   AO: You released your debut EP ‘XXI’ on August 7! What was the writing and recording process like for the EP? GL: Hehe very exciting! I began recording the EP at the beginning of lockdown.. so very recently! Three songs on the EP were written last year, and the other three were written this year so it’s a huge mixture of emotions as I was in a very different place last year to where I am this year.   AO: What did you learn about yourself as an artist while recording your EP? GL: That I am a massive perfectionist.. haha! As the music is all produced by myself as well, I was completely my own boss and didn’t really know when to stop. I wrote, recorded and produced the whole EP in my bedroom, so I had no space away from it – which I loved! I honestly enjoyed the whole process of the EP from start to finish and I can’t wait to get back to making more music to release later this year. AO: “When You’re High” premiered on BBC Essex before the release of your EP. What inspired the song? GL: I wanted to write a song that gave off ‘road-trip’ vibes.. you know those ones you blast through your car speakers? That was the kind of song I wanted to write. I also wanted to write a song that was turning a negative situation into a positive. So although the situation is about only loving someone when they’re in a particular state of mind, I wanted to turn the tables and turn the negative into a positive, as that’s how I live my life anyway!   AO: What would you say your favorite lyric you wrote on your debut EP is and why? GL: The song that means the most to me is, “You & I”, and I have two favourite lyrics from this song. These are: “Would you be hurt if you knew I was still hurting?”, and “Am I crazy for still thinking that the you and I that were you and I are still you and I?”. 

Bit of a mouthful that last one, but these mean the most to me. It was a tough time I was going through, and I felt the only way I could communicate with myself properly and let my feelings out was through music. I wrote this song in about 20 minutes and I couldn’t stop crying after. I was hesitant to share it with the world, but I am so happy I did as many people have told me they relate and it has brought back emotions for them so now they don’t feel so alone, and that’s all I wanted to do :)   AO: What would you like your fans and new listeners to take away from your debut EP? GL: Remember who you are, and if you ever forget even for a split-second, listen to my EP and it will remind you that you are not alone. Dance with me through the EP and cry with me;)    AO: For new fans who come across your music, what would you like them to take away from your music? GL: Honestly, the same as I tell my day-one fans. Remember who you are, and don’t let anyone kill your vibe. The music I write is relatable and honest, so I hope my music can somewhat help you get through whatever you are going through to remind you that you are not alone.   AO: With your debut EP ‘XXI’ out now, what can fans expect from you next?
