Hello fellow Byler shippers. I’d like to formally speak out and say as a warning if the Duffer Brothers even think about using Byler to make an It Chapter Two parallel where Will or Mike dies and the other has to live their life without a confession or being endgame i WILL be suing because i sure as hell will not be able to recover or go a day without thinking about that. The way Byler is so heavily hinted at through all four current seasons (as did Steddie in It chapter one) my mind is still plagued with theories of this happening in season five. If it does come to this my life will not be the same. Thank you! ྀི

Its making me apprehensive to post anything. A select (popular few) in the fandom are extremely ‘vocal’ and have pushed others out.

Hello darling.

This is a tricky issue as fandom (all fandoms, but especially mainstream ones) become increasingly cliquey and dominated by the most popular voices. My advice is this.

Make your own little space and don't compare yourself to others. It's so difficult to navigate fandom. At times it can be so fulfilling and nourishing, but at other times even the smallest clash can be devastating. It's always good to take breaks and to focus on writing for yourself.

Don't let what anyone else is writing slow your roll. There are phases of popular tropes that come and go, but YOUR work is all that matters to you.

It's always hard to accept that nothing lasts forever and fandom interest waxes and wanes. So long as you focus on yourself and your art, then you can build your own enjoyment and carry it always, no matter the form.

Don't let anyone else dull your shine, my darling. Fandom is fun but your art and sense of self is EVERYTHING💜💜💜

Honestly Jancy/Nancy stans really make me hate their characters. Maybe the feeling is mutual bc they just hate Steve because of us I guess.

But anyway I got called a misogynist for wanting Robin to hate Nancy in s4 instead of following her around like a lost puppy. I mean as a best friend it's your duty to hate your bff exes (esp if it ended badly) even if they don't. Like Robin should have kept Steve in check in s4 not encouraging him to get back together with his cheater ex who isn't even sorry about it.

bashers do not interact. you're allowed to dislike a character or ship, everyone has personal preferences. but my issue is when you go out of your way to be shitty and hateful about fans of that character or ship while using your opinions to justify it. this includes giving fandoms of a certain ship a demeaning name (like calling steddie fans 'stds' or stancy fans 'stankies') and constantly posting about how much you hate them. i get that some fandoms for certain ships can be overwhelmingly frustrating at times, but fandom will not become a more welcoming or chill place to be if you keep perpetuating negativity. just let people like what they like, even if you don't agree or get it. it's unnecessary and childish.

This right here!! This is precisely the sort of nuance that is missing from the hanky code argument. It's mostly trumpeted by Gen Z kids who weren't there and have no idea what they're actually talking about. (No offense to the other Gen Z kids who don't do this, y'all are fabulous, please vote in your elections)

I'm not quite old enough to have hung around with 80s metal heads, I was a '90s kid in the grunge era. Bandanas factored heavily in our attire and I never heard a damn thing about this hanky code until the Steddies started trying to use it for clout. It definitely wasn't widespread and most metalheads were completely oblivious about it.

i definitely do think some steddie shippers are using it as an excuse for proof of steddie because there’s literally no proof of it

and yeah growing up with a dad who was a proper rocker and metal head when he was growing up in the ‘80s i’ve always seen rockers with bandana’s in their fashion choices but i never knew about the symbols it had for some people

and as someone who is apart of gen-z thank you for understanding that some of us have a brain <3

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion? I honestly haven't, and I think it'd take a lot for me to do that in the Stranger Things fandom. Just a for instance, but I'm like staunchly anti-Harringrove, but one of my favorite blogs ships them & I couldn't imagine not following this person. Blacklisting tags works wonders.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom? lmfao so this ties in nicely with my previous answer, but I absolutely fucking hate the ship wars that happen in this fandom. Like I'm so exhausted by the Steddies fighting with the Hellcheers and the Harringroves or the Milevens fighting with the Bylers. Literally none of the first three ships are ever going to be canon, so why are we acting like assholes to each other about it? Never mind that these are fictional characters. It's not that serious.

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom? Platonic Stobin, hands down. Am I cheating with this answer? Maybe, but I also don't care. I love that Steve has someone who cares about him without there being any kind of romantic entanglements involved. He deserves that kind of love. And I'm so glad that Robin has a safe person that she knows she can trust with absolutely anything because someone out to someone in rural Indiana in the 80s had to be so terrifying. They're just perfect, and I will forever be thankful for Maya Hawke refusing to play a rebound girl.

26. Most shippable character? This fandom is honestly the one that I multiship the least in, but I guess Steve or Max? They're the only two I can think of that I ship with more than one person (but not each other, just so we're super clear because gross). I'm a huge Steddie shipper, but I also ship him with Tommy in a very 'first love but probably not good for each other' kind of way. For Max, I'm probably stating the obvious but Lumax & Elmax are both absolute perfection.

Before

“Hey, guys, listen.”

“If things here start to go south, I mean, at all… You abort.”

“Okay? Draw the attention of the bats. Keep ‘em busy for a minute or two. We’ll take care of Vecna.”

“Don’t try to be cute or be a hero or something. Okay? You guys are just-”

“Decoys. Don’t worry. You can be the hero, Steve.” And maybe that's not what he meant. For just a second, Eddie let himself believe that maybe Steve wasn't just worried about Dustin or being the one guy to save Hawkins and that maybe, Steve wanted Eddie to be safe too.

“Absolutely. I mean, look at us. We are not heroes.” Steve had paused, before he moved to turn around and sure, Eddie might've been delusional, but he was not blind. He saw the way Steve looked at Dustin, looked at him. And Eddie just couldn't help himself, almost reaching out to pull Steve back.

“Hey steve…” There were a million things Eddie wanted to say in that moment, Dustin behind him, the others looking back at him. And Steve, well, Steve always looked… great. but right now, darkness surrounding him and a leather jacket thrown over his shoulders. If the end of the world wasn’t so near, Eddie might’ve called Steve gorgeous.

He was trying to come up with something stupid to say, to postpone the real reason for his outburst as Steve had begun to walk away. ‘Mordor sucks’ or ‘make him pay’ anything that meant not outting himself in front of the people that had become his friends in such a short amount of time.

“If we uh, you know, survive this whole demon wizard man.” Eddie coughed, looking back at Dustin for just a second, trying not to stay so focused on steve. “We should hang out, go see a movie or listen to music or maybe you could join us for a campaign one time? I sorta ended up making you a character but you could totally make a new one if you don't like him I just- I don't wanna die without telling you that i…”

Steve looked so expectant? Shocked even. Like he was waiting for the sun to come up behind Eddie. His eyes were wide and his mouth was pulled into a frown, but it didn't scream sadness. It was Dustin that had cleared his throat, breaking the silence. It was like Eddie's brain had been kickstarted after breaking down.

“You're a good dude, Harrington. I don't wanna die without telling you I care.”

“Eds?” That sounded good, really good, especially from Steve. He had moved, his hands on Eddie's shoulders and his face far too close. Eddie's head whipping back round from where he had been looking to his left, hair hitting Steve accidentally, going to apologise with his mouth wide. Steve had snorted, laughing with a small ‘it's okay’ as he looked at Eddie. “I get it, Munson. I care about you too, and not to be a nerd but I'd love to play sometime, and movies? I'll rent a good one when we get back and we can watch it at my place, tomorrow work for you?”

“Tomorrow? Yeah- tomorrow sounds great!” Eddie had choked on his words, surprised by Steve making plans so soon, he felt himself rock forwards on his feet, starting to bounce slightly.

“Tomorrow it is!” His hands had moved slightly, tangling themselves in Eddie's hair just for a second before Steve remembered why they were here and coughed awkwardly. It immediately got colder without him, but the small smile on Steve's face as he turned to leave was enough to make Eddie's cheeks heat up.

After

When the three of them had rushed down the stairs, bursting out of the door, Nancy and Robin had stood still, right in front of Steve, staring at the ground where Vecna had fallen. And Steve had pushed straight through them, running as fast as he could with the sound of his heart pounding in his ears. His chest had started to hurt before he even got past the playground. But he couldn't stop, no matter how much it burned. The only thing he could think of was Eddie, his name being screamed over and over in his head.

He had heard Eddie's cry, back at the house, and every time Steve's feet met the uneven ground he was reminded of the pain that struck him. He felt sick. The feeling only got worse when he saw Dustin sitting on the floor, Eddie laying still.

His knees had met the gravel harder than he had anticipated, stinging almost immediately, sliding over the dirt and pushing himself up to hold Eddie's face in his hands, “Munson? Eddie wake up!”

Dustin was crying, Nancy and Robin were shouting Steve's name and Eddie… Eddie wasn’t responding. “Everyone shut up!” He hadnt meant to sound so angry, but it had come out as more of a growl, as if it was gonna protect the man in his arms.

Steve found it almost laughable, how pretty Eddie looked with cuts on his face and blood covering his clothes and skin, hair sticking up out of his eyes. The upside down had fell silent as Steve checked Eddies pulse, and the tears that fell from Steve's eyes had been accompanied by a smile, “He's alive.”

Turns out Eddie really did get that movie with Steve. Top Gun, he had chosen. Eddie giggled as soon as it started, “Stevie, have you heard the rumours about Mav and Ice?”

I ship byler cause it make sense narratively and I want Will to be happy.

I ship lumax cause they are adorable but I also ship Elmax cause hello season 3 was giving off vibes. However I WANT lumax to be end game!!

I shipped Chrissy and Eddie cause they had amazing chemistry.

I m torn between Stancy and Jancy cause the way the plotted that love triangle has me unsure what would be the better option for Nancy. On one hand Jonthan makes more sense, but they are lying to each other and she has hell chemistry with Steve so…

I ship Jobber cause they are perfect together.

I don’t ship Steddie cause I DIDN’T see anything other then one cheesy little remark.
