Reign of Hezekiah
Tumblr media
1 Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 2 He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done.
The Temple Cleansed
3 In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of Yahweh’s house, and repaired them. 4 He brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the wide place on the east, 5 and said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Yahweh, the God of your fathers, and carry the filthiness out of the holy place. 6 For our fathers were unfaithful, and have done that which was evil in Yahweh our God’s sight, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and turned their backs. 7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel. 8 Therefore Yahweh’s wrath was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes. 9 For, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this. 10 Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us. 11 My sons, don’t be negligent now; for Yahweh has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers, and burn incense.”
12 Then the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah; 13 and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah; 14 and of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel. 15 They gathered their brothers, sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by Yahweh’s words, to cleanse Yahweh’s house. 16 The priests went into the inner part of Yahweh’s house to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in Yahweh’s temple into the court of Yahweh’s house. The Levites took it from there to carry it out to the brook Kidron. 17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month they came to Yahweh’s porch. They sanctified Yahweh’s house in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished. 18 Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, “We have cleansed all Yahweh’s house, including the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels, and the table of show bread with all its vessels. 19 Moreover, we have prepared and sanctified all the vessels which king Ahaz threw away in his reign, when he was unfaithful. Behold, they are before Yahweh’s altar.”
Temple Worship Restored
20 Then Hezekiah the king arose early, gathered the princes of the city, and went up to Yahweh’s house. 21 They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. He commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on Yahweh’s altar. 22 So they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar. They killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar. They also killed the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar. 23 They brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them. 24 Then the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
25 He set the Levites in Yahweh’s house with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was from Yahweh by his prophets. 26 The Levites stood with David’s instruments, and the priests with the trumpets. 27 Hezekiah commanded them to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, Yahweh’s song also began, along with the trumpets and instruments of David king of Israel. 28 All the assembly worshiped, the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded. All this continued until the burnt offering was finished.
29 When they had finished offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped. 30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.
31 Then Hezekiah answered, “Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh. Come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into Yahweh’s house.” The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings, and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings. 32 The number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs. All these were for a burnt offering to Yahweh. 33 The consecrated things were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep. 34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not skin all the burnt offerings. Therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests. 35 Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of Yahweh’s house was set in order. 36 Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced, because of that which God had prepared for the people; for the thing was done suddenly. — 2 Chronicles 29 | World English Bible (WEB) The World English Bible is in the public domain. THE SUPERNATURAL EMPOWERMENT 2
29 AND God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.
30 Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.
31 For he was wiser than all men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.
33 Also he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish.
34 And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon."
1 Kings 4:29-34 (NKJV)
Tumblr media
• We want to consider some of the things that would provoke supernatural  empowerment:
(i) The first and the foundation is the new birth, and that through faith in Christ Jesus (Romans 4:25; 10:9,10).
a. Accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is the foundation of whatever anyone would be in the Kingdom (Revelation 3:20).
b. Being a part or a partaker of any benefit of the Kingdom of God on Earth, started with being a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17).
(ii) After the first step had been taken, you consecrate your life totally.
a. Live a life of unwavering commitment. Submitting your own Will to embrace His. Discarding your plans to embrace His. You should be humble enough to embrace or accept His Will, plans, and Programmes for your life and Ministry (Psalm 40:8; John 4:34).
b. You lean not on your own understanding and Acknowledge Him in all you do (Proverbs 3:5,6).
c. Be faithful and loyal in the assignment given to you, and whatever God said to do (1 Corinthians 4:2).
d. Ascribing the glory and honour of every result gotten in the work you do in the Ministry to Him. He is the reason for the success (Hebrews 13:15).
(iii) Be consistent in your walking with God (1 Corinthians 15:58).
a. By being sensitive to His leadings (Romans 8:14).
b. Being prompt in obeying or doing whatever He instructed or commanded to do (Genesis 22:1-3).
(iv) You also provoke supernatural empowerment by giving the ownership of all you had to God. Let Him have the say-so on it (Matthew 19:20-22,29).
a. Be willing to sacrifice whatever He might be demanding for. You receive the grace to lay down, even whatever is precious to you—as He prompted you to give it, or specifically asked for it (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
- Jesus said:
17 THEREFORE My Father loves Me, BECAUSE I LAY DOWN MY LIFE THAT I MAY TAKE IT AGAIN. 18 NO ONE TAKES IT FROM ME, BUT I LAY IT DOWN OF MYSELF. I have POWER TO LAY IT DOWN, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father" (John 10:17-18 NKJV).
- This action of Jesus Christ gave Him a name, a place, above every other person:
5 LET this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 WHO, BEING IN THE FORM OF GOD, DID NOT CONSIDER IT ROBBERY TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD, 7 BUT MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION, TAKING the FORM of a BOND-SERVANT, AND coming in the LIKENESS OF MEN. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF AND BECAME OBEDIENT TO THE POINT OF DEATH, EVEN the death of the CROSS. 9 THEREFORE God also has HIGHLY EXALTED HIM and given Him THE NAME which is ABOVE EVERY NAME, 10 THAT at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, OF those in HEAVEN, AND of those on EARTH, AND of those UNDER THE EARTH, 11 AND that every TONGUE should CONFESS that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER" (Philippians 2:5-11 NKJV).
- When Jesus did lay down His life, He was given a name that is above every other name.
- If you would be supernaturally empowered, you must be willing to make Sacrifice, hesitated not to lay down your life, or whatever is being demanded for by God, though such a thing might be precious to you (Matthew 16:24).
- Willingness to lay down, your life, or whatever is precious to you, is one of the conditions to be qualified for supernatural empowerment (1 Kings 3:3-5).
(v) And being prayerful makes you a candidate of supernatural empowerment.
a. You pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
b. You pray more in the language of Holy Spirit. When you do that, the Bible says you are speaking mysteries, and you are communicating with God the Father (1 Corinthians 14:2; Jude 20).
c. One of the essences of the presence of the Holy Spirit on the inside of Believers is to help us in praying; Giving us the utterances to pray aright, According to the mind of the Father—God (Romans 8:26).
• Take note:
- God wants to empower you supernaturally, that all people would know that He is the One working through you (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).
- To be empowered supernaturally for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, favour, wealth, power, or whatever; your trust in God should be absolute or total, and your faith in Him be steadfast and unswerving.
- How much you depend on Him determines the flow of the supernatural through your Life, to bless others.
- Remember, you can depend on God, or allow Him to work through you, in one area of your life, whilst you would not in other areas. All depends on your decision or yieldance to Him as an individual Believer.
- Thus, to be empowered supernaturally, there must be Total dependence on Him. God does not want those who are His to live independently of Him.
- When you demonstrated your faith in Him, desiring to be empowered, or trusting in Him for grace, or the ability to do or perform in one area of your life; He will surely empower you to do what you could have not been able to do naturally, without His help, in such a  thing.
- Ask for the supernatural ability, the empowerment, on every area of your Life.
- Ask for supernatural wisdom, knowledge, understanding, favour, helps, skills, Abilities, the know-hows, and whatever, in all areas of your Life.
- Ask Him, you will not be denied:
"IF any of you LACKS WISDOM, LET HIM [her] ASK OF GOD, WHO GIVES TO ALL LIBERALLY AND WITHOUT REPROACH, AND IT will be GIVEN TO HIM [her]" (James 1:5 (NKJV).
"IF you then, being evil, know how to give GOOD GIFTS to your CHILDREN, HOW MUCH MORE WILL YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THOSE WHO ASK HIM!”
Luke 11:13 (NKJV)
• Note in conclusion: for whatever you are empowered with to be perpetuated, always ascribe the glory of your results to God the Father (1 Corinthians 1:26-31).
When you are praised or eulogized for the gift in you, tell them that God is the One doing it, He the One working through you, you are just an instrument: 15 AND Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. BUT I have HEARD it said of you that you can UNDERSTAND a DREAM, to INTERPRET IT.” 16 SO JOSEPH ANSWERED PHARAOH, SAYING, “IT IS NOT IN ME; GOD WILL GIVE PHARAOH AN ANSWER OF PEACE” (Genesis 41:16 NKJV).
READ: Daniel 2:26-28
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- You are supernaturally empowered to live in health in Jesus' name.
- Receive supernatural health and wisdom in Jesus' name. Peace!

Verse: 2 chronicles 29 Write/ Copy Gods words :
29 Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done. 3 He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them. 4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street, 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place. 6 For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs. 7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel. 8 Wherefore the wrath of the Lord was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes. 9 For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this. 10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us. 11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense. 12 Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah: 13 And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah: 14 And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel. 15 And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the Lord, to cleanse the house of the Lord. 16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron. 17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end. 18 Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof. 19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the Lord. 20 Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord. 21 And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the Lord. 22 So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar. 23 And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them: 24 And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel. 25 And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets. 26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. 27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel. 28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. 29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped. 30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the Lord with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped. 31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the Lord, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the Lord. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings. 32 And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord. 33 And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep. 34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests. 35 And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the Lord was set in order. 36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
What is your favourite verse or verses?
19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the Lord. 20 Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord.
Explain in your own words what you just read:
Hezekiah came to the throne of Judah at the very end of the kingdom of Israel. Three years after the start of his reign the Assyrian armies set siege to Samaria, and three years after that the northern kingdom was conquered.
Commitment / what will i do : I will mentioned by the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 8:2) as a ‘faithful witness.

I really enjoyed this new season.💖
They stopped using Adam as a punching bag.
Adam's berserk mode °///°
Teela got more powerful.
I just love when sworn enemies work together.
Is it my impression or the animation movements got amazing during battles? ✨
Also, I didn't expect that ending °A°
--
Do you agree or disagree?
Anyways, have a nice day :3

I never grew up with HeMan & for the first two episodes, Revelations is pretty alright. It helped jump me right into the skin of things; better than Nu She-Ra where it not only tries to look better but it has a far better head on its shoulders in terms of tone.
I'm not butthurt HeMan was gone because what I got was amazing; him and Skeletor being gone is not a bad direction to take what's meant to be the conclusive story. If I wanted more HeMan, I can just go back to the original. Not like I was gonna judge the whole show based on a damn trailer.
Teela isn't a bad character when I look at her not as the focal character but the POV character. The show's more about the world without HeMan & I don't hate her when her frustration is believable at least & I don't delegate her as the center of it all. Far better a character than the likes of Captain Marvel where she could've constantly put up a front with quips and snark. I like that as reluctant as she is, she takes things as serious it should be.
And I figured her as the whole POV character because I knew they'd give the others more of a spotlight, esp. Orko who was a real one. Honestly the show got better as it went along, where they don't let the hamminess of the dialogue overshadow the serious shit.
HeMan Revelations made me eat my words because it was legit good for part 1. Again, never grew up a HeFan, but it increasingly had my eyes open with how badass, colorful, & fun for one half of a story. I had my presumptions, esp. since Twitter had their asses in a twist, but I loved it.
Teela's VA feels really phoned in but I honestly never hated her as a character. Constantly stoic sure, was a passive aggressive cunt to Adam yeah, but she never felt as annoying or heartless as I thought she would've. She has her good moments and I'm not gonna deny just because everybody's willing to just view the bad. I'm not as cynical towards her because she could've been a lot worse.
If it's any real problem, it's that this really is for HeMan fans because there's a lot I'm aware of but never fully grasped without watching the original. But honestly I'm down with going back to the OG series because they make it look worth going back. That and I know they're gonna do the whole "pass the torch" with episode's 5 ending. I don't hate it, but it's the one time where I'm like "Ugh, here we go."
That's the thing, I'm not fully hating the direction this is going because it feels on track & surprisingly well paced for just five of ten episodes. It felt like things are coming together & it was increasingly kickass while going for it.
I still don't like Kevin Smith, but I'm not gonna deny this was fucking awesome regardless of how many old fans are malding on Twitter because it's not exactly how they wanted it. So I'll see if part 2 keeps the momentum and that's it.

Hanging Rock Anon Again! Took me a while to type up my thoughts: (1/3) I find it is fascinating that we never really get a reoccurring and clear look inside Miranda’s head. Hell, we never even get her last name. She seems to be a cipher that plays a different role or aspiration for the other characters. I think one of the reasons why Marion, Miranda, and Miss McCraw disappeared is that they are all disconnected or operating on a different wavelength from the rest of the world.
(2/3) Do you think they were specifically called to the Rock or that they stumbled onto some kind of supernatural force that was able to take those three because of their kind of otherworldliness? SPOILERS for anyone who has not read the book, the scene where Sara’s ghost shows up to Albert threw me through a loop. I had a feeling there were long-lost brother and sister. However, Albert tells it to Mike is just downplayed, which makes it more tragic and creepy.
(3/3) “Good-Bye, Bertie. I’ve come a long way to see you and now I must go” broke my heart. Because of this, I definitely think what happened was supernatural on some level. I got that a time warp was happening but not what was causing it or why. Maybe my childhood in mountainous, densely forested region of the US where the the land could seem imposingly alive & my knowledge of folklore makes me biased but I wonder if it is a genius loci situation???
I hate Mrs. Appleyard as a teacher, but I respect her hustle as a con-woman. The juxtaposition between Sara writing and memorizing a poem with Mrs. Appleyard’s believing that Felicia Hemans wrote "The Wreck of the Hesperus" was very funny to me.
Thanks for letting me talk about Hanging Rock with you!
---
Caveat to my response: it’s been a good four or five years since I last read the book, so I’m a little rusty on it, but your examination of it is both delightful and insightful!
I don’t know whether it’s supernatural or not, and I’ve always liked the fact that the book is brave enough to never, definitively answer it. I think it reflects on the mysteriousness of life; sometimes weird shit happens and there is no explanation for it. And you just have to live without knowing.
And I think the whole Sara and Bertie thing is a great example of that. They were separated as children and have gone so long without each other that they’ve almost forgotten each other. They pass almost like ships in the night. We go through life so close to those people who might have some significant role in our lives and sometimes we meet them, and sometimes we never do.
Mrs Appleyard, though, is a brilliant character. Up there with Nurse Ratchett from One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Do you think she killed Sara, or do you think that she just watched Sara jump from the window without doing anything to stop her? Does it matter either way?
I also love that it has become so well known in Australia (in a very surface level way) that a significant part of the population genuinely believe that it’s a story based on real events.

Part 1: The flag is upside down because that’s the symbol for distress. And I am not a part of Trump’s America. I don’t claim him, and neither do a lot of other Americans. The world is protesting with us as a show of support and solidarity because they see the injustice we are fighting. They support us, not that idiot in the WH. We are fighting against 400 years of racism and social inequality that has been ingrained into our country since its birth.
Part 2: having difficult conversations means talking to our children about white privilege, educating them and ourselves on how to overcome systemic racism and inequality in our country, to be better citizens. It’s hard for other countries to understand what our country has been through, just as it is hard for people in our country to understand what other nations and their citizens go through. We are hopefully changing our country by standing together, and demanding change. ✌🏻
***
Well we can only hope things change with this.
I for one am sick and tired of "World Police"/"HeMan Of The Universe" US of f***ing America acting like they own the god damn planet while screwing up SO MAJORLY in every f*cking aspect of civilization and dragging everyone else down with them. 🙄
That country is a f*cking embarrassment.
NOT SORRY.

The Relationship of Frances Power Cobbe and Mary Charlotte Lloyd
Mary Charlotte Lloyd [1819-1896] and Frances Power Cobbe [1822-1904] met in Rome, where Mary was a sculptor and, from the 1860s, were life partners until Mary’s death.
Mary was born on the 23rd of January, 1819 in Llanbedr-Dyffryn-Clwyd, Denbighshire, to Edward Lloyd and wife Frances Maddocks, an old family in North Wales, who owned over 4000 acres of land. Little is known of Mary’s childhood, or indeed much of her life outside of her life with Frances, but she may have lived with the ‘maiden’ aunt, Margaret Lloyd, from whom she inherited gifts from ‘Lady Eleanor Ponsonby and Miss Ponsonby,’ The Ladies of Llangollen, and letters to her aunt from the poet Felicia Hemans.
By her 30s, Mary was sculpting in the studio of John Gibson, a sculptor also from North Wales who Norena Shopland writes possibly had a relationship with Welsh artist Penry Williams. Harriet Hosmer studied with Gibson also and she and Mary became friends - Mary had also studied with Rosa Bonheur in France.
Mary met Frances Power Cobbe in the winter of 1861 in Rome, when they were 39 and 43 years old, respectively. Sally Mitchell writes that they were both ‘mature, single women’ who ‘had private income, lived alone, and were fond of animals’, who were both establishing a professional identity, but were opposites in personality. Frances was good humoured, witty, a ‘jolly Irishwoman,’ but Mary was much more introverted, and was even written as ‘Pessimist, unsociable, gloomy,’ but still devoted to Frances.
Frances was born on the 4th of December, 1822, in Newbridge House, Ireland, to Charles Cobbe and Frances Conway. She had a similar family background to Mary, born to old English-speaking, Anglican gentry in a Celtic country. She was a writer, social reformer, Suffragette and anti-Vivisection activist. She was associated with Charles Darwin, among other intellects of the time, and travelled to Rome to socialise with like-minded Suffragette and other lesbian women, such as Charlotte Cushman and Mary Somerville.
Frances and Mary’s relationship developed over the next 2 years, with Frances returning to visit Mary in Rome, even when Frances had suffered an injured to her foot that affected her health for the rest of her life. From 1864, however, Mary and Frances both returned to England, living together in South Kensington, London from 1865, which Mary had paid for with her inheritance, though they split the bills between them.
Mary’s pessimistic image may have been due to her desire to return to Wales, where she often returned to visit, such as to help care for her dying brother. Frances wrote her works while in London, though a sculpture by Mary, Horses and Play, was exhibited in 1865 by the Royal Academy of Arts, in the National Gallery. Mary also planned to build a studio in their garden, with Rosa Bonheur visiting her in 1869.
They continued to travel separately, Frances also visiting Ireland, and Mary returning to Rome, such as when John Gibson suffered a stroke which he died from in 1866. Mary also supported Frances in her suffrage endeavours, such as with the NAPSS and in signing petitions, though she was not heavily politically involved. They continued to share an interest in animal activism also - 2 paintings by Mary appeared in an exhibition of women artists in 1868, which were paintings of her nephew’s dogs, Mary was an executive for the Home For Lost Dogs, which became Battersea Dogs Home, which Frances and Mary raised money for by mortgaging their own home.
Of Mary’s travelling, Frances wrote to Mary Somerville in 1869; ‘I thought ere this you would have had my better half with you... Poor old darling, I am comforted by knowing she is happy & enjoying her little fling. Her life can ever have too much of that to make up for the part - but I am very lonely & sad without her.’ Frances also wrote to Mary Somerville of Mary (Lloyd) returning to her like a ‘truant husband.’ In Frances’s own published writing, she wrote of their relationship; ‘Of a friendship like this, I shall not be expected to say more.‘ In the Duties of Woman, Frances writes of marriage and of ‘friendship,’ which certainly seems to mean same-sex partnership in the context, where marriage and partnership are seen as equal.
Mary’s own sense of privacy may have been behind this, but we can also see that despite claims that lesbian relationships and partnerships were perfectly accepted in the 19th century, even celebrated or fashionable, and though Frances was in a way quite open that Mary was her partner, they could still not go into explicit detail on the nature of their relationship. Even with as much writing of Frances’ that survives, including her own autobiography, we don’t know enough about their relationship to know more about Mary herself.
They moved to Wales in 1884, where they had often visited together over the years, staying in a rented cottage, and where Mary had continued to long for. The continued to rent a cottage at first in Wales, before they could afford to live in the house Mary had partially inherited in Hengwrt, which was helped by Frances inheriting from a friend in 1892. Frances called themselves ‘The Ladies of Hengwrt,’ after the Ladies of Llangollen, and like the Ladies, they received letters addressed to ‘you and Miss Lloyd.’ Here they flourished, where Frances wrote of as one of the most beautiful parts of the kingdom.
Mary passed away in 1896, from heart disease, and was buried in Llanelltyd churchyard, where Frances could see from her windows and visited early every morning. Frances and Mary’s partnership had been ‘thirty-four years of a friendship as nearly perfect as any earthly love may be - a friendship in which there never was a doubt or break - or even a rough word - and which grew more tender as the evening closed.’
Frances died on the 5th of April, 1904, in Hengwrt, and both are buried at Saint Illtud Churchyard, Llanelltyd.

Okay this isn't an idea, but I've gotta document this and you're gonna wanna hear it. I just actually partook in one of those D&D stories that you hear & inspires you to start playing but you can never make happen for real.
Spoiler Alert for the dungeon White Plume Mountain. I give away a lot of it. Also this post is very long. Be warned.
I spent Christmas break with my family, and one day my dad, who was big into D&D in the 80's, asks me how long it would take me to throw together a dungeon for me, him, and my sister to play through. I told him not long, we could just do one of the classic dungeons I got in Tales from the Yawning Portal. We settled on White Plume Mountain.
That night we rolled up characters. My dad played the human Wizard Gwen Morgan, my sister played an elf Fighter named Link (yes, that Link), and my NPC was a human Druid named Heward Goldlight.
The following day, before we began the adventure, we rolled on magic item tables to find some of our starting loot, since we were starting at level 8. Link got a +2 sword and several potions, including a Supreme Healing potion. Gwen got some potions of Giant strength, a saddle of the cavalier, and an item none of us had used before called a luckblade. Being a wizard, he couldn't use it as a sword, but kept it for other abilities like rerolling saving throws, mostly.
I gave them the legend of Keraptis, the story of the missing magic items, and the riddle (ask me or read the module if you're unfamiliar with those), with the usual nonsense of a king commissioning their help, and before we knew it, we were in the mountain.
Over the next 3 days we battled our way through the great White Plume mountain, rescuing Wave just in time to stop the collapse of the bubble, figuring through traps, befriending a golem, and defeating the vampire guarding Whelm.
By the final session we were really into it. We had all become invested in our characters and the party as a whole. We fought our way past traps, slaughtered 8 ghouls, spent a good 10 minutes on the frictionless room, and don't even get me started on the terraced room (Link summoned spirit warriors to slay the Manticores). The party reached the Oni, slayed him with incredible flavor text on my part and greater acting on everyone else's, and we retrieved the last item, Blackrazor. The party decided to get out as fast as possible, forgoing a rest.
If you're familiar with White Plume Mountain, you see the problem.
As they went to leave the dungeon, a wall of force sealed them in, and the dark Wizard Keraptis announced telepathically that they would become his slaves or die. Two efreet, Nix and Nox, materialized, forcing the party into a fight when they had just taken quite a beating from the Oni.
We had one round. It wasn't enough. Heward charged with a 4th level flame blade, with no effect. Link hid behind Gwen, who used lightning bolt, with very little effect. Then came their turn. Nix summoned a fire elemental to even the fight. Nox cast Wall of Fire, trapping us and taking out Link and Heward, who was the healer, while being barely better on the others, Gwen one hit away from unconsciousness.
Our golem, being once enslaved to Keraptis, refused to return to that existence, and furiously charged at Nix and Nox, getting in one hit before stumbling and collapsing. The fire elemental, gripped the golem's head, nearly killing him.
So there we were. Our fighter Link unconcious, our healer Heward fallen, our Golem nearly destroyed by fire, and our primary spell caster going to die at the end of his turn due to the flames. It looked like a TPK.
Gwen got up. He was going to die anyway, there was just one thing he could do.
He still had the luckblade.
It had one powerful feature.
It had one single Wish charge. We had nearly forgotten.
Gwen held it over his head, full Heman style, wishing that the entire party be teleported safely, with all their belongings, to the base of the Mountain.
A wave of magic engulfed the party, as the fabric of the universe rewrote itself to grant his wish. The efreet screamed "No!" as we vanished into the wave.
We did it. We survived, simply because of a lucky role on a magic item table, that we had almost forgotten about.

FTWD 5x05: Analysis
How did everyone like last night’s episode? Did I see any symbols or parallels? A few.
That sarcasm! Holy crap, there were some interesting things in this episode. We got some massive, MASSIVE hints at what's going on here and things are clicking into place all over the place for me.
***As always, spoilers abound for FTWD 5x05. Don’t read past this point until you’ve watched! You’ve been warned!***
Tumblr media
This is the episode about what happened to Althea. At the beginning, we see her get hit in the head by the person in the helmet. It’s a woman who, to me, looks a lot like Jadis. She has the Heman haircut going on. At first, I was thinking the opening sequence reminded me a little bit of Alone. Because Al sort of hurt her leg and lost her boot.
And to be fair, we definitely had lost shoe/foot symbolism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this is leading to Beth, as I firmly believe it is, that does make sense. Especially because I believe the loss shoe/lost foot symbolism is a foreshadow of the death fake out. Beth seeing the shoe by the tracks in Inmates was a foreshadow of Beth’s arc. Having the military walker’s foot come off with Rick in 7x12 was a foreshadow of his. So, if this is leading to Beth, seeing that symbolism here makes sense. Plus, Al was a missing girl for time before her group found her again, which makes her something of a proxy to Beth.
But as I got into the episode more, it became clear to me that structurally, it's much more like 6x06, Always Accountable, than Alone. Think of it this way. In Always Accountable, Daryl was hit over the head and taken captive people he didn't know (Dwight and Sherry). Those people were part of a bigger group (the Savior's). Naturally, Daryl thought they were bad guys because they, you know, smacked him over the head and tied him up. As the episode progressed, they talked, got to know one another, and he soon realized they were basically decent people who were just doing the best they could. They even came to see eye to eye at one point. But by the end, Dwight and Sherry return to that oppressive group and they and Daryl parted ways.
Tumblr media
Yeah, exact same thing happened here with Al. She was taken prisoner by a person who is a member of the helicopter group. And it’s obvious from what she says that they’re a fairly strict, oppressive group. (She says, “no one just walks away.”)
Tumblr media
At first, she and Al were naturally at odds but as the episode progressed, they had to rely on each other to survive and soon became friends. (Unlike Daryl and Dwight, Al and Isabelle even made at the end.) But in the end, helicopter chick—that’s Isabelle—returned to her helicopter group, and she and Al parted ways.
There was even a part where Al sees an opportunity to escape, grabs her bag and runs away, just like Daryl did in 6x06 and he grabbed the bag with his crossbow in it and ran.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But just like him, Al ends it back with that same person who first attacked her.
So definitely a symbolic parallel to 6x06. In that light, it's kind of interesting because, if this group needs to Beth or this is where she is (and with each passing episode I’m more convinced of that), then all the Beth symbolism we saw in 6x06 was, in a way, a foreshadow of this.
Let's get more details. At one point, Al woke up in a car with her hands tied together (in front of her like Daryl’s were in 6x06).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It gave me some serious 5x09 vibes. Parallels to the walker waking up in the front seat.
Tumblr media
We also saw example of that in 6×06 when Daryl found Patty 2 and there was a walker in the front seat.
Tumblr media
Al escapes and eventually finds Isabelle’s helicopter. She gets in, picks up the radio, and the helicopter people answer her. Isabelle's call signal is Ground 17. I can't help but think of the missing 17 days after Coda. Perhaps this is a clue about that.
Probably the most shocking thing I heard in this episode is that when Isabelle grabbed the radio from Al, she answered the helicopter people. And guess what she said? She use the term KIA. Guys, that's freaking huge!
Tumblr media
Remember, one of the lines on Morgan’s wall in Clear that we’ve always struggled to interpret was, “No KIA's on BEF.” People have theorized the KIA stood for, “killed in action,” but we couldn’t be sure. But that definitely seems to be what it meant here. I had to go back and listen to the dialogue again after first watching the episode to figure out what Isabelle said. It went very fast and was hard to interpret the first time.
It turns out, Isabelle killed the other person who was with her in the helicopter, a man named Beckett. She tells Al all about it later in the episode. And he, Becket, was the mission leader, rather than Isabelle. So, when she talks to the guy on the radio, he says, "Is this the lead?" Isabelle says “No, the lead is KIA.” In other words, killed in action. She then says they were non-hostiles, which I take to mean walkers rather than people who are hostile, and she also says there was a breach in protocol. These are all things that are revealed throughout the course of the episode.
We find out later that the “breach in protocol” is that Beckett tried to run. Tried to leave Isabelle and the helicopter operation behind. (Again, much like Dwight and Sherry ran away from Negan and the Saviors in S6). But again, “no one just walks away.” Any time there is a threat to the operational security of the helicopter people, that threat is taken out. Hence, Isabelle killed her partner.
Tumblr media
The radio guy asks if the payload is secure and she says yes. We don’t really know what the payload is. She mentions the nuclear reactor site that the kids’ parents died at. I'm thinking they needed some sort of nuclear technology for what they're doing.
I just have to reiterate that the KIA is huge! We’ve literally been trying to figure that out for four years! On one hand, you could argue we can't prove it's about Beth. It was on Morgan's wall in Clear and it's Morgan who's in FTWD. But hey, at the very least, they've had this planned since Clear in S3. Anytime it becomes obvious that a plan has been in place that long, that’s good for us and for Beth’s arc.
Tumblr media
Also keep in mind that other things on Morgan's wall have been successfully tied to Beth. Like ABIBEL and the sun.
Isabelle accepts Al’s help because she needs fuel for the helicopter. Gasoline has been a big theme, especially in 4a with the gas station. We've seen several gas stations over the seasons as well.
It's also worth mentioning that the cut on Al’s head where Isabelle hit her is in the exact same place that Beth was shot. And remember that Daryl had the same thing in 6x06. Another clue of what this whole thing parallels to.
Tumblr media
Eventually, Isabelle talks to Al and tells her what happened. When her partner, Beckett saw the contaminated (radioactive) walkers at the nuclear plant, it frightened him and he tried to run away. (She used the phrase, “he cracked,” which reminded me of how Dawn described Captain Hansen at Grady.)
This is when we got the info about no one leaving the helicopter group and protocol is just to kill anyone who tries.
Tumblr media
To be honest, I was glad to hear that the helicopter people are a somewhat hostile group. That goes a long way to explaining why Rick never came back to Alexandria. It's not a group he can simply walk away from. I'm sure he's trying to get back, but for whatever reason, he hasn't been able to get away.
That said, what other major community did we see that did not allow people to leave? That would be Grady. People were taken there and held hostage. As Noah explained, they were simply never allowed to leave. Grady might have been a foreshadow of this community. Or, the tie may be more literal than that. I’ll explain.
Tumblr media
Isabelle didn't give us a completely straight answer about what they're up to. She did talk about them purifying water, which is important. I'll come back to that in a minute. But something struck me when she sat by the fire with Al. She kept saying this operation (the helicopter people) was bigger than her, bigger than Al, bigger than just one person.
Tumblr media
It sounds like they think what they're doing will save humanity and end the apocalypse. That's why they're so exclusive and don't let anyone leave. There are too afraid of the operation being vulnerable and getting destroyed.
The thing about that is that it reminded me a lot of what Dawn said to Beth. I did theories about this back in the day, not long after S5 ended, in which I talked about how so much of what was said at Grady was left unexplained. The ward system was not explained in detail. Whatever Grady was doing was not explained. Many people think they were trying to cure the virus, and they may well have been, but they never came out and told us that.
Tumblr media
But Dawn told Beth that being a part of Grady was the biggest, most important thing Beth would ever do. That never made sense to me. What was Dawn talking about? If they were trying to come up with a cure, then what Dawn said would make sense. But the show never told us that. It was very secretive about what was actually happening at Grady. Which was always simply more evidence to us that this arc remains unfinished.
I'm thinking more and more that the helicopter people must be either an outgrowth of Grady or connected to Grady in some way. This is where my TD brain starts making all kinds of connections. Whatever this helicopter group is doing, what if Grady was a part of it? Maybe Grady was in communication with this helicopter group and were conducting just one branch of the operation at the hospital. Maybe whatever this group is up to with the water purification is specifically what Dawn was referring to when she said told Beth how important it was
Furthermore, I couldn't help but think of her conversation with Beth about being rescued. She said they just had to keep things up until someone came for them. Beth then yelled at her that no one was coming.
Tumblr media
It's funny, because even among TD-ers, I've never heard anyone question why Dawn believed that. I’ve never questioned it myself. I suppose it just seemed plausible that there would be people who were in denial about the extent to which the world had ended. They naively believe there must be some functional community out there that will eventually come save them. It's ignorance and shortsightedness on their part, but it's also understandable.
But what if Dawn’s belief way more than that? Not quite as misguided as it seemed. What if she'd actually been in communication with this helicopter group and had some kind of agreement with them to come and get her and the people of Grady? Much like Jadis did. Maybe she was trading supplies with them. There's no way to know at this point unless we go back to Slabtown and look for signs of it, but I think it's a real possibility.
This could even explain why, after Beth was shot, no one other than Noah went with Rick’s group. Again, that seemed well-explained at the time. We could already tell they were fairly narrow-minded people, because they remained under terrible (rapey) conditions rather than escaping and surviving on their own, and of course they didn’t know Rick and Daryl’s group. And to be fair, our beloved TF came across as fairly rough people, especially after Rick killed Officer Lambson.
But again, maybe it was more than that. Maybe they knew they had a bigger operation to fall back on. Yes, I’m totally letting my imagination run away with me here, but I can’t help it. This episode and the connections to Beth’s arc made me so excited.
Then there’s the water purification Isabelle mentioned. @wdway figured out long ago that Beth =s water, and boy was she ever right! Talking specifically about water purification reminded me of a specific scene. The one just prior to Coda where Glenn, Rosita and Tara were trying to purify the water from the river.
Tumblr media
This is also the episode we see Tara with the yo-yo. I think that's important because I always assumed the yo-yo right before Coda was a foreshadow that Beth would survive. Yo-yos going down and coming back up is a type of resurrection symbolism. So, this water purification thing right before Coda could also be a foreshadow.
And if the if Beth is with the helicopter group and what they're doing has to do with water purification, that alone explains why the use water as such a heavy symbol for Beth. Because she will eventually be involved in this operation. It's also a foreshadow of where Beth will show up. That her eventual return will have something to do with water purification.
I’m telling you, my mind can just keep going. I was thinking this must pertain to Beth because the only other people involved in the water purification scene were Glenn, Tara, and Rosita. Glenn and Tara are now both deceased and Rosita is in Alexandria and we’ve never seen her connected to water purification after this S5 scene.
But that just made me think of the fire truck and the fact that they ran out of water. I’m wondering if there will be a situation where the world is out of water and other water is contaminated (we saw a foreshadow of this recently in S9 when Negan escaped and drank the water and it made him sick) and will have to go to this helicopter group in order to find clean water. Just feels like a great big foreshadow to me.
Either way, this has heavy connections between water and the helicopter group and it suggests even more so that Beth will be connected to this group.
There was even a part where Isabelle talked about how she hesitated, made a mistake, but still shot her friend Becket. At first, I was just thinking that many people have theorized that whoever shot Beth (because it obviously wasn’t Dawn) may have been aiming for Dawn and shooting Beth was actually an accident. This wasn’t exactly the same as what Isabelle was saying (she was saying that hesitating to shoot her friend was a mistake) but it just made me think about Grady and Beth getting shot. But once I started making connections to Dawn and Grady, I can’t help but wonder if that shooting happened because of something to do with “operational security.” I don’t know exactly what it would have been, but that was emphasized so much in this episode, I can’t help but be suspicious.
These were the biggest things I originally saw in this episode. Then, when the re-watch was on and I was putting together this analysis, something else occurred to me. I said earlier that Al and Isabelle make out at the end, right? Well, this was by no means a deep, abiding relationship. These two ladies spent exactly one day together before parting ways, so the kiss felt more whimsical than everything. And kind of desperate in an I-need-some-human-connection sort of way, because the world just sucks so much.
All that said, I DO think it’s supposed to be something of a parallel to Beth and Daryl’s relationship, albeit a small potatoes/less deep one.
The reason I think so is because of this scene.
Tumblr media
They spent the night in an elevated tent (to keep away from walkers on the ground). Look at the way they’re both sitting here. It’s almost exactly like how Beth and Daryl sat on the porch of the moonshine shack.
Tumblr media
And in this scene, Al says to Isabelle, “What I told you today? I’ve never told anybody that.”
How many times have we said that about Beth and Daryl? That he told her things he’d never told anyone else. Then there was the fact that they really connected and came to understand one another. Again, not with nearly as much depth or beauty as Beth and Daryl did, but the parallels are there.
And think about what I’ve already said. If this is a parallel to 6x06, with Al in Daryl’s role, then Isabelle would be Beth’s stand-in. And just as I’m sure at some point Al will run across the helicopter people again and find Isabelle there, so Daryl will run across the helicopter people and find Beth there. (Hinting at things are we, Ms. Kang? ;D)
Another thing we can compare this to? At the end, Al kept her word to Isabelle and didn’t tell Morgan and the others what she knew about the helicopter group.
Tumblr media
The other time we saw that was with Tara and Oceanside. When she returned to TF, she didn’t tell them about Oceanside, but of course she soon found a reason to do so and they visited Oceanside. The same will obviously happen here. And that could be one of the reasons for seeing so much Beth symbolism at Oceanside. It was a foreshadow of this, which may be where Beth actually is.
I’m mostly going to stop there. Don’t get me wrong, there were other small symbols that we could pick out.
Tumblr media
Isabelle had Beckett’s key (Key Theory) to a cabin (Cabin theory). We didn't see this cabin, only heard it spoken of, so it was purely symbolic.
Tumblr media
There was a big H spray painted on the ground at the fuel drop. I just made me remember how there was an H emphasized this past season because the woman from Hilltop made the H coins.
Tumblr media
Isabelle and Al also shared a beer. Obviously, we always connect anything to do with alcohol back to Beth.

Al makes a comment about how she doesn’t “stay in the car” and that policy has saved her life. Feels like a reference to Beth being left in a car. At one point, Isabelle says they have to walk but they’re ten clicks out. Plus in the very top picture I put in my post where she says the nuclear plant is 10 miles away. Maybe references to S10? So, I noticed lots of things like that, but they’re things I’ve said dozens of times over dozens of episodes.
Overall, the comparisons to Grady and 6x06 were the big ones. And the KIA, of course. I'm more convinced than ever that this group will lead to Beth. We're getting there, slowly but surely. If Beth did end up back at Grady after being left behind, and the helicopter people are connected to Grady, both of which we have pretty good evidence of, chances are good Beth is still with the helicopter people.
What did everyone else think of this episode?
