It's kinda shocking to me how few people seem to know how prevalent the 'my great grandmother was cherokee' myth is and how it's almost never actually true, especially when it comes with things like 'never signed up' or 'fell off the trail' or 'courthouse burned down destorying the documentation' etc etc.
People just don't even seem to know the history like.. when the Trail happened. My great great great grandfather was 2 years old during Removal in 1838, so peoples 'my great grandmother hid in the mountains!' is so clearly wrong. And we have rolls. From before and after removal, rolls done by cherokee nation and others by the government, rolls that were not stored in one random flammable courthouse. It's not difficult to find the actual evidence of ancestry.
And just.. there are lots of ways those family stories get started. It was a practice during the confederacy to claim cherokee ancestry to show one's family had 'deep roots in the south' that they were there before the cherokee were removed. Many people pretended to be cherokee and applied for the Guion-Miller payout just to try to steal money meant for cherokees - 2/3rds of the applicants were denied for having 0 proof of actual cherokee ancestry. [We even see lawyers advertising signing up for the Miller roll just to try to get free money.] And the myth even started in some families in the cherokee land lotteries, where the land stolen from us was raffled off, including the house and everything that was left behind when the cherokees were removed. We have seen people whose families just take these things stolen from the cherokee family and adopt them into their own family story, saying that they were cherokee themselves.
If you had some family story about being cherokee and you wanna have proof one way or the other, check out this Facebook group run by expert cherokee genealogists that do research for free. Just please read the rules fully and respect the researchers. They run thousands of people's ancestries a year and their average is only around 0.7% of lines they run actually end up having true cherokee ancestry.

Ok since Monika still has her admin powers in the side stories you think she could just discover them accidentally or use them without realizing
Anyways au where Monika and friends discover her admin powers but dont know about the wider context of what it means. So they just go around thinking Monika has magic and try practicing with a bunch of silly fun shenanigans because they figure it’s some chosen one bloodline stuff and not like. A product of their reality being a constricted digital science experiment.
This au will not end well

team minato modern middle school au where kakashi is the annoying genius who skipped like two grades, rin somehow lives in a hospital (no one's sure which nurse/doctor is her parent but. it's one of them. right? it's gotta be. no way did a bunch of worked-half-to-death medical staff accidentally adopt a baby someone forgot about. definitely one of them is her parent. her birth certificate is around here somewhere i'm sure look i'll get back to you once my shift ends in six hours), and obito is the class clown who lives with his awful anarchist stoner grandpa and calls his house "the cave"
minato is a former student of kakashi's dad's friend and he's their carpool driver bc no way in hell would that man be allowed to teach in real life

I haven’t watched it in a while but Zuko and Toph actually should’ve had the life-changing field trip because I really needed her to find out that his biggest problem is a father that demanded his children be the best benders around and kind of envy that, and then I needed him to find out that her biggest problem is parents that believed her to be helpless and wanted to love and protect her anyway and just totally flip out.

this is a little belated by I saw @dayinthedeath's discussion about who in torchwood is most likely to be spiderman and I needed to join in with this proposal: it's a team effort in united nerdy idiocy

one thing i have noticed about integra is that she almost always lights a cigar, then snuffs it before its even half way used, and then not even a scene later she will light a brand new one. she does this in manga, classic, and ultimate. multiple times. it always bothers me because that is so much wasted product and money. i dont know what the fuck is wrong with her .
these shots are less than 5 seconds apart btw
and she lit the new cigar not even like 10 minutes later in the same room ?

The patient is doing better today. She's had an appetite. Last night's dinner was almost all gone this morning. She's very mellow, too. I think kitty CBD is helping. She just had 2 drops on her gums vs the recommended half dropper.
She is better about finding things though I wonder if she found the litter in the nick of time last night because the pee pad surrounding it was wet in an area. She's been better about being in the box and hadn't needed it for about 3 weeks
She's currently purring 😻

HEADCANON. Sam... doesn't handle making mistakes and failure all too well.
It's no surprise considering her own perfectionist tendencies that are no doubt a partial result of her own upbringing; being yelled and cursed at by her father for not getting the answer quick enough certainly left its marks, as did every eventual irritated teacher that couldn't figure out why there were times she wouldn't do her homework. Even her mother had her moments of frustration with Sam—-granted, it was nowhere near as bad as her father's, but still something the child noticed at times.
These tendencies got even worse when she was sold to be an experiment—-a test subject for a company supposedly backed by the state, too.
Being part of such a secret project meant being obedient and following certain rules. Some were standard and needed no explanation (i.e. "You are not to leave the premises unless told otherwise," or "Contact with those not part of the institute's projects is prohibited"). Others? You needed to find out yourself.
Like with mistakes.
The first mistake is excusable. They'd let you off with some notes on a clipboard or a computer and a warning, no big deal. You didn't know any better; you're a test subject, after all. Test subjects were to explore and make new, important mistakes to help their research.
A repeat of said mistake, however?
Well.
That meant the test subject forgot their mistake. Such cases meant they needed to be reminded not to do it again. Sometimes it meant needing an example of why it's not good to repeat the same mistakes.
And what better way to remember than through punishments?
Through fear?

I’m seeing a theme amongst the series I focus on
A theme of “can’t touch my love interest”
Mo O’Brien: “Damn Agnes, that sounds rough. I had it the same for a while, Bob and I couldn’t even sleep in the same bed until I got this convenient MacGuffin”
Mhari Murphy Grey: “Same here, it wasn’t quite so bad for me but we still had to be careful until the America thing happened.”
Agnes Montague: “Didn’t get that far. I kissed him and his face came off. Too embarrassed to call him again, I think he thinks I’m dead. Then there was Jude, who always melted.”
Charlotte ‘Chuck’ Charles: “I’ve gotten good results from plastic wrap…?”
Cassie Brewer/Agent First: “Agnes, don’t you think you should have…warned him about that? If you knew it could happen? Alex couldn’t really have hurt me but at least he checked first. What’s the Uruk phrase? Intended consent?”
Mo: “Informed. Informed consent.”
Agnes: “Look it was the heat of the moment okay”
Archivist Julie: *was not invited to brunch because everyone else is thoroughly disturbed by her*

look not to spend another arc endlessly critiquing the thoughts of a "beloved hereditary monarch" like in fishman island....but i need to complain. king riku....my guy......you rule a country under the world government....correct??? why would your first instinct not be to call them and say "hey your warlord is doing some fuck shit" like obviously they dont like having to actually do their jobs, but alabasta proved that if someone brings them proof they will HAVE to do something so like, why would you not try that. like WE know because of later plot details that doffy has reach all the way to the top because of whatever knowledge he has of the sacred treasure under mariejois is that they tried to kill him over and they wouldn't kick him out, but uhhhh no one else knows that??? also im sorry..."we can't kill him that would be barbaric we're peaceful". dude 1) you have a military what exactly are they doing if you havent fought a war in 800 years why do you have one then??? 2) im pretty sure killing this guy who is threating to violently overthrow your kingdom and do god knows what to your people is better than stealing 10 billion dollars from all of your apparently deeply poor citizens??? how did you not see how horrifically obviously this could backfire???? which sidenote how is this country supposed to be in the happy part of the flashback if a significant portion of them are poor and starving and destitute enough that we see panels of it before doflamingo even shows up. does anyone in this country know how economics works???

I want to get assessed for learning disabilities but I already know how it's gonna go asking for that from my doctors. I already know they are going to imply I need a good enough reason to get assessed and they'll try to talk me out of it. they'll make it sound like I'm being ridiculous because I want to be assessed for more than one thing and they'll make me have to beg them for a referral that I can't even be sure they'll actually do if they even say that they will
just the thought of asking is so exhausting, it shouldn't be this way
