And the final piece for the #windowsintothepast exhibition. It had to be done really... Words That Say - Mega City Four 100x70cm Oil on canvas What can I say? Mega City Four were one of Rushmoor's most successful bands. Touring the world relentlessly MC4 became a cult band that still have a huge (and wonderful) following of fans to this day. Fans that support the grassroots music charity I founded @f4wiz I remember walking through Aldershot with Wiz after band practice one afternoon shortly before he passed away. We walked down through Union Street to Sebastopol Road where the band recorded the album of the same name. The studio, long gone, had been replaced by flats, dandelions growing from gaps in the pavement reminiscent of the album cover I had earlier designed for Ipanema (Wiz's later band). Wiz spoke fondly of those times, telling me stories as we walked home together. Just a few weeks later I was left alone with those memories. Words That Say is arguably one of Mega City Four's best songs, at least one of my favourites. Later Gerry from the band and myself worked with 3 Loop Music to get Sebastopol Road reissued. Grab a copy of you can. This painting provides a connection, too often overlooked in day to day life. That said, it's for sale, so hit me up with a DM of you fancy owning it. @aldershottc @rushmoorcouncil #windowsintothepastaldershot #aldershot #rushmoor #heritagetrail #musicheritage #megacityfour #mc4 #sebastopolroad #cultband #synaesthesia #contemporaryart #publicart #oiloncanvas #artforsale #artforsalebyartist @3loopmusic (at Aldershot) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQbJ9M2BZUh/?utm_medium=tumblr

$802M Signature Bridge (& Double-Deck Highway) Given Notice to Proceed - Contractors have been given the green light to begin construction on the Signature Bridge project, with a Notice To Proceed issued by FDOT yesterday. The highlight of the project is the bridge design called the “Fountain,” which includes six sweeping arches that FDOT says will redefine Miami’s skyline. Miami’s first double-deck highway will also be built on State Road 836, from NW 17th Avenue past the I-95 Interchange. Underneath the bridge, a 55-acre park called Heritage Trail will be created, with the bridge itself to be elevated to allow in more sunlight. #news #miami #new #bridge #doubledecker #development #realestate #investment #construction #exciting #times #skyline #beauty #city #urban #life #fountain #heritagetrail #park #public

Playing tourist in my backyard 😎 This used to such an iconic spot for coffee and kaya toast, until Potato Head came along. Keong Siak Road used to have such a infamous reputation until the recent gentrification which saw many high-end and hipster joints opening up there. I must say it is shaping up nicely, with a blend of nostalgic and modern. Think Foong Kee alongside Olivia Restaurant. Worlds apart in cuisine and price points but co-existing happily together. But I must say I miss the ‘colourful’ nightlife and the excitement of peeking inside the houses with red lanterns 🙃 . . . . . #streetsofsingapore #streetscenesmag #visualambassadors #singapore #sgig #visitsingapore #heritagetrail #potatohead #downmemorylane (at Potato Head Singapore) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCv6G0Mn3Z3/?igshid=1etcrgd3pnzpn

Heritage trail
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

An old Edinburgh tradition says that the natural spring by the Water of Leith was discovered in 1760, by three boys from George Heriot’s school. It was soon a visitor attraction as ‘taking the waters’ was thought to be very good for the health. Some claimed that the water could cure everything from a bruised leg to ‘total blindness’, but others described the taste as having the ‘odious twang of hydrogen gas’ or even like ‘the washings from a foul gun barrel’. The well was bought by Lord Gardenstone, and in 1789 he commissioned the artist Alexander Nasymth to design the circular temple building you see today. The well gets its name from an old legend that St Bernard of Clairvaux once lived in a cave nearby. The well and grounds were restored in 1888, and left to the City of Edinburgh.
The design for St Bernard’s Well is inspired by the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli in Italy. Under the lead dome stands a marble statue of Hygieia, the Greek Goddess of Health. Her name is the source of the word ‘hygiene’.
