Pearl Pearl! I’m sure this has been done before lmao

I’m not a hundred percent sure on this design, but I’m happy with where it is now. I was having a lot of trouble with her color scheme but eventually I settled on Periwinkle as her main color. She did lose a good amount of some characteristics that I usually give her due to being a pearl, but the lil hair feathers are still there :D  Her gem is on her back, right between the shoulder blades

Her weapons are a pair of discus. I was debating between discs (because of last life) or a multi ribbon whip (similar to the Onyx Deer’s tails) but I thought the discs would be better

btw i don’t know that much about SU, I haven’t watched the movie or SU future and i watched it a few years ago ._.

as a nia-mancer im honestly LOVING what shadow nia is doing for both nia's character arc and for the new dynamic in her route. calling out our wife "you're being an ass" 😭 and nia finally allowed to not be perfect all the time by neglecting what she went through. they should keep bickering and kiss about it at least once.

I’m salty about this for multiple reasons.

1. Because I don’t think everybody should be screaming at Mal. They were getting overrun by the Ancients. Maybe his plan wasn’t exactly well thought out, but it worked and everyone is fine.

2. Mal apologizes to Nia immediately, yet MC still hasn’t gotten one for his comments to her? Maybe it’s just me that feels this way, but I think that’s honestly what I need to start fully enjoying his route again. We’ve had some nice moments with him, but they all ultimately still feel hollow to me because there’s been no acknowledgement of whatever underlying resentment he obviously feels towards MC and none of how her suffering being diminished and ignored made her feel either

sorry for speaking my truth it will happen again. i think my main issue with valax’s redemption arc is literally just that there’s never a moment where the mc gets to actually talk to her about what she did—there’s not really a cathartic conversation, so valax and mc moving past what she did to them feels less like forgiveness and redemption and more like an agreement to ignore the elephant in the room

like sure we got to talk about our trauma (in chapter 17 of 20. lol. lmao, even) to the party, but valax wasn’t present for that?? and like, sure, she says once that she is sorry “for the pain she caused [them]”, but there’s a difference Tew Me between “sorry for hurting you ig ✌️😗” and actually being like “yeah, i abducted you and forced you into a magically induced coma and stole your blood and robbed you of a full year of your life and repeatedly tried to murder you, to say nothing of the grief i caused your loved ones. i did all that shit and i’m sorry for it and deeply regret it, and i acknowledge that you don’t owe me forgiveness, but i will spend the rest of my life working to build a better world for my people instead of being my mother’s pawn”, and a difference between “my mother is unhappy with me for saving you :(” and actually like, giving the mc space to talk about the impact of her actions towards them. like girl you are not getting out of this shit with one sentence’s worth of apology and a sex scene lmfao!!!

during the first half or so of the book the focus for mc is not falling the fuck apart bc they have a friend group to tentatively piece together and they’re averse to showing fear in front of valax, so they’re repressing all their trauma—and by the time valax joins the party, the narrative has gone full Valax Cool And Good mode, and fully allows you to flirt with her and tease her and generally stops taking her seriously as an antagonist. which would be all fine and good if we had actually at any point gotten to be like, “hey, you abducting me and keeping me in a magically induced coma and stealing my blood and trying to kill me has actually caused me a lot of lasting fear and pain,” followed by some set of choices wrt forgiving or not forgiving her for all that in light of the revelation that she did all that shit bc her mom tortured and brainwashed her

like why are my friends more pissed off about the time this bitch abducted me and did evil little experiments on me than i am. free valax she did all that shit bc of her mommy issues but i should’ve gotten to call her a cunt just once. pb stop making all your mcs generals in the idgaf war challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

ok i was just remembering back when a bunch of interactive fiction accounts were answering those orpheus/eurydice asks and i kind of want to write something related about blades characters SO for my fellow blades enjoyers: who do you think would turn & who wouldn't?

i'm going with all the og love interests for this (mal, nia, tyril, imtura, aerin). i'm pretty confident about certain ones, but less sure about mal & aerin, so lemme know what you think!

Blades is sort of pissing me off because it's only been a year. MC has been kidnapped immediately after defeating the shadow court, they were alone, they're unaware of what actually happened to them there, all they know is that their blood was taken. Yet mal and the rest of the gang are crying over them being missing for a year when it sounds like they did the bare minimum when it came to trying to find MC. This is why I'm saying they're acting as if MC was gone for 25 years instead of one.

Y’all what if the light realm and the shadow realm aren’t supposed to be closed off to each other and that’s why everything in the shadow realm is so extreme? What if the answer to restoring the Deadwood and solving any other problems we face in this book is opening the rifts instead of trying to close them and letting each entity rejoin with their mirrored counterpart? What if the only reason the Ash Empire is trying to send an army through to the light realm is because there was never supposed to be a shadow realm in the first place? What if The Watcher was the one who divided one realm into two and closed them off to each other the first time?
