Thinking about how because John refused to talk about Arthur, in turn, Jack doesn't truly know Arthur. He doesn't know about the man who saved them, the man who stepped up for Abigail during John's absence, and the man who grew up alongside his father. He doesn't know how much Arthur loved animals and drawing.

Maybe he has a memory here or there, but he doesn't truly know Arthur despite how big of an impact he had on his life.

When John left after Jack was born for a year, it must’ve been so hard for Abigail. She was an 18 year old girl having to raise an infant alone in a gang just because John didn’t feel like a father or whatever. I like to think that Arthur kind of acted as a father figure in Jack’s first year. Especially with that one journal page of Arthur talking about how he was really jealous of John and Abigail, and how he wished he would’ve married her when he could. He also was probably really missing being a father/spouse after what happened to Isaac and Eliza, this almost felt like his second chance. Arthur and Abigail even could’ve been “a thing” while John was gone- they didn’t know where he was, they had no idea he was gonna come back, they probably thought he was dead. When John did come back, I feel like the whole gang was kind of disappointed in him. John kind of replaced the role Arthur had, and Arthur probably felt like he lost his “family” again. Baby Jack would be used to Arthur, but then he never really had him as a father figure again. Arthur still loved John like a brother, but I don’t think he’ll ever forgive him for what he did to Abigail and Jack.

Keep thinking of Buck and Bucky's perception of Rosie through their eyes. When they meet him, Rosie's a great pilot, has been training gunners for ages and knows his way around a plane well - but has yet to see any combat. He's that wide-eyed kind of hopeful that he can make a difference.

When they meet him again by the end of the series, Rosie's gone on to fly 52 missions. He's well and truly past his first tour, and well into his second. The rest of the 100th adore him and respect him as a leader; and Rosie adores them all right back.

Despite all of that, Rosie still seems like the same person - undemonstrative, and a little more heaviness to his shoulders perhaps, but that wide-eyed hope that I can make a difference hasn't faded.

i understand the whole “abigail cant cook” running gag but like. what if john actually does like her cooking. he makes the little joke of “man i miss mister pearson” and “and abi i hope youve learned to cook” but thats like the only times he jokes about that and otherwise shows zero signs of disliking her cooking

what i mean is: i am sitting at the dinner table and everyone else is fuckin coughing and hurling and pick little bits out of their mouth, including abigail and jack literally isnt even eating, but john is horking it all down no problem. and in rdr1 hes like in the kitchen with abigail and she walks away from the pot for like a second and he goofily walks up to eat some of the stew. why would someone who doesnt like that cooking go out of their way to just inhale it this guys insane (loves his wife)

i am stepping up to defend abigail roberts marston with my whole heart because i am SO tired of people saying that she was 'the second rat' the whole time. abigail didn't even want to desperately leave the gang until after hosea was shot, and yet she didn't even do that. if she was a rat she could have so easily taken jack and slipped away once things fell apart, seeking protection from the pinkertons - a truly traitorous abigail would have had NO reason to stick around. also, you're telling me abigail roberts marston - the same abigail who begged arthur to look for john on those snowy mountains at the start of it all, the same abigail who broke down in tears when she thought she lost him for good, the same abigail who never quite gave up on him, and the same abigail who died three years after john did because his loss was the straw that broke the camel's back - you're telling me that abigail would have gone ahead and purposely put him in the slightest bit of danger by telling the pinkertons about ANYTHING he was involved in? you're telling me she told them about the saint denis bank robbery, let them take him into a fort of a prison, then - once again - have to beg to have him saved? WHAT. not to mention the fact that though there were gang members she did not get along with, there were also many she did love and care about that weren't john that she never would have dreamed of harming. in short, leave abigail ALONE!!!!
