Metru Nui Aesthetics

I’ve been thinking about how each metru is a slighly different flavour of sci-fi aesthetically speaking. (Heads up, the links go to a wiki unfortunately hosted on Fandom, don’t click if you wish to avoid that site) Ko-Metru: Cyber Glacier (fairly self explanatory)

Ga-Metru: Cyberprep x cybercore (with a slight Nautical influence in the lighthouse styled architecture)

Le-Metru: Retrofuturistic ( check out those mushroom towers)

Onu-Metru: Dark Aero x Hexatron ( lots of black tech with glowy bits)

Po-Metru: Post-Apocalyptic x Decopunk ( not literally post apocalyptic pre Great cataclysm, but evokes the aesthetic through the appearance of structures that are falling into disrepair or abandoned unfinished. But the art and architectural style seems to have an art deco influence)

Ta-Metru: Heatwave x Dieselpunk ( industrial factory looking structures combined with the glow of lava and furnaces)

The dieselpunk for Ta-Metru one’s not quite perfect, as I was looking for something that evokes factories and industry more than vehicles, and I feel like there’s maybe a missing component for Ga-metru as well ( it’s not quite solarpunk but perhaps something adjacent to it?)

you might have talked about this before but what do you think of fruitiger aero? and other such styles. i wouldnt say its my thing personally but i think its pretty neat 👍

fruitiger aero my friend frutiger aero. i love U frutiger aero but mostly just in comparison to all the flat minimalist UI design that replaced it immediately after, frutiger aero is like the last gen of futuristic-feeling tech aesthetic design that i don't actively hate [cuz i think hexatron is tacky and ipod minimalism feels too cold and unfriendly]. frutiger aero is EXTREEEEEEEEMELY 2007 to me and i have an appreciation for how kinda tacky a lot of it feels, since it goes hand in hand with mcbling and in comparison to Y2K futurism you can Really feel the maximalism

i said a while ago how i don't like windows vista's UI being glossy black glass because while it's sleek it feels unfriendly compared to the soft plastic feel of XP and i stand by this but i would definitely take glossy textured glass VS the flat minimalist shit everything is these days at least it was interesting. also i genuinely fucking adore the specific shading technique a lot of frutiger aero shit uses that makes it look like glass with the like darker half circle and gradients. y'know like old iOS icons

i genuinely really like that it's a nice lookin way to shade rounded glass and it makes these things look like hard candy and i wanna pop em into my mouth.

anyway tl;dr i think frutiger aero is fine but it's not my favorite. also people lumping frutiger aero in with Y2K futurism makes me mad cuz they're like a decade apart, Y2K is like 1996-2003 frutiger is like 2006-2011 they have Some Similarities but they are Distinct Entities
