Hiccups the typa person whose face would get like comically red when he's super mad. And perhaps embarrassed. But I'm mostly imagining him being pushed past his "ohhh I've had it up to here with you!! 🤓" limit for the day and screaming at someone completely red-faced. I figure he takes after his father like that

Finally, something from the fic! (Context? You don't need that)

The four approached the children, with Jack leading the way, but they didn't seem too pleased to see a group of strangers invade their territory.

"Who are you?" asked one of the older kids, a little girl around eight with a dirty chin and braided hair.

Rapunzel, obviously fascinated by the group, bent down at her level, leaning her hands against her knees. "We're just travellers looking around."

The little girl squinted. "Alright. What do you want?"

"We need to ask some questions," Merida said unceremoniously.

Rapunzel elbowed her.

"What? I've never got anything from my brothers by being nice," Merida defended herself.

A boy pointed at her. "Why aren't you wearing a petticoat like other big girls do?"

"'Cause it makes riding my horse uncomfortable."

"Where's your horse?"

"... He ran away."

It was enough to make the children even more suspicious. The younger kids hid behind the taller ones, frightened.

Hiccup raised his hands. "We just want to ask if you’ve seen anything strange in town lately," he said, hoping to sound reassuring.

The little girl stared at him without shame. "I'm not telling you anything, Skinnylegs."

Hiccup now remembered why every time he stumbled upon children in Berk, he crossed the street.

Thinking about Httyd...hot and perhaps too personal take: To me, Httyd was more than anything else a movie about emotional starvation. And Forbidden Friendship was the sweetest, briefest celebration of relief from that.

Afterwards, everybody basically told Hiccup to man up “because that’s just life” and I will never forgive Httyd2 and Httyd3 for that.

I recently (ahem, yesterday-ish) started reading httyd fics, and i'm noticing there are a lot of Hiccup Runs Before The Final Exam, or he wasn't there to begin with (feral Hiccup ✨) but what if he doesn't start dragon training at all? Like, The Raid was his final opportunity to show that he isn't completely useless at Dragon Killing, and he butched it, snd he was close to dying again or smthng and Stoick stops hoping for Hiccup to be a Beefy Viking Killing Machine, and when they 'talk' on the stairs when Hiccup comes back from freeing Toothless, he tells him that Gobber needs some help in the smithy and that he might learn how to properly make the weapons or tools and that, yeah, there are enough vikings who fight dragons but there aren't enough weapons when they're used viciously on an almost daily basis against Tough Skin

TL;DR: Hiccup becomes a smith, doesn't do the dragon training at all, and he has a bit more time to spend with Toothless bc Gobber thinks he might feel bad about not getting a chance to Beef Out so he cuts him some slack for a little bit, and also the prosthetic might be better/go along faster bc now he's /supposed to/ use the forge, but also might not bc now he has an official job/apprenticeship

He falls further apart from the other teens, who half-think (mainly the twins say) that he died a brutal death or smthg bc now they barely see him, and only to give/get back their weapons/shields/armor when they need fixing; and he gets ever-closer to the Nightfury on his proverbial backyard

He gets good at Smithing, blablabla, meets the Mad Queen, blablabla, gets increasingly stressed thinking abt how to save his best friend, soul-brother, partner-in-crime, adoptive-dragon-parent from the Mad Queen, and Astrid starts noticing him bc he's smoother when he isn't paying attention to others at all and he really is better at smithing than anyone ever thought he'd be good at, well, anything

Thinking about how Snotlout has this grand facade that no one really believes that hes cutthroat and suave and cool and manly because thats what his father says he should be, but he will see one (1) dragon that he likes and immediately melt and cry and show hes literally anything BUT his father

First of all, yes it’s absolutely adorable that Tuffnut would react this way, but think of it this way, 3 years before this Tuffnut was part of the reason a hiccup suffered.

Idk man maybe you shouldn't of let go of furret? Now lemme just take your local town icon that you project on too -cause your sister (thinking she's got her problems together when she really doesn't and wants the best for you but is super miss guided) can be over bearing control freak causing you to feel issolated- that the town that you grew up in will still hold a festival for its defeat even though they were informed other wise because this is a pokemon game and there's no way they aren't going to let the protagonist not catch a pokemon they wanted the protagonists to be attached to.
