controversial httyd opinion:

The dragon gang kind of grows on me as I'm watching the show. But if I was hiccup I wouldn't be as forgiving. Or at the least I wouldn't be as trusting and have an exit strategy. The kids I can forgive as a grown up now because they're dumb kids who can change, who were just repeatingthe behaviors of their parents. But I wouldn't forgive the whole village. They finally stop treating you like shit only after you risked your life and show dragons can be useful. Pretty bullshit to me. Is probably why hiccup was so desperate to do anything to show them he was useful but was also sarcastic and bitter at the same time. Gives so many queer and disabled vibes to me. Especially if they grow up in a small religious home/town/community. Yeah but I can see why Hiccup would not want to be Chief. There's always this vibe that Toothless is only one who fully gets Hiccup. Over all Hiccup is way kinder than I am.

One thing that I absolutely adore about Callum is that he tends to squint his eyes when he's happy and/or content.

I obviously have no idea if this is intentionally animated for his character or if everyone's animated that way and it just happens to be more noticeable in Callum due to his eyeshape, but it is just such a lovely detail :)

the more we talk about bucktommy"s first fight the more confident i am that they're going to work through it like narratively the idea that the first hurdle buck meets in this relationship is the one that breaks it is soooo lame and unfulfilling. like that's literally what he's always done, his relationships break so easily after one or two fights that it just wouldn't feel true to the growth that buck has gone through to have him run away after the first serious conflict. adult relationships are full of hurdles and buck needs to show that he can handle them and what it means to be in a committed, long-term, mature relationship.
