This Week in BL - Cameos & Familiar Faces
Entirely subjective yadda yadda. Organized by favs in each category. No numbered lists anymore, tumblr be buggn'.
End of Aug Start Sept 2023
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
Laws of Attraction (Sat iQIYI) 8fin - Oh the DRAMA. Why does the insane ex (my true love) remind me of the cartel leader from Romancing the Stone? Even the sides got HEA! It was fucking great!!!!! Charn remains a bonkers spoiled evil murderous brat with a cruel smile beloved by his one true paladin. Also: post it love note trope! Been a long while my old friend. NO SINGING!!!!! I do love that wedding jacket frock coat cape thing Charn wore.
In conclusion: This is a great gay suspense thriller with several solid couples, fun plot, killer characters, queer rep, and a happy ending. Charn may be my favorite lead character of 2023. However, this show is not entirely BL, more on the fringe, like Manner of Death. Add that to several "singing incidents" and pairs being a little weak in the chemistry arena, and this lands safely in 9/10 territory. It’s tons of fun tho: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I Feel You Linger in the Air (Sat grey) ep 3 of 12 - This show is getting more and more lakorn each ep. Apparently the straights are having a class divide arranged marriage crisis. Who cares? Our boy is ALWAYS in trouble. Crazy that he has to save the people who betrayed him in a previous life - but I guess he chose revenge! That's unexpected.
Had to switch to grey and couldn’t find a working rip. It was frustrating and I wouldn’t have bothered except I like this show so much. Still, it means no screen caps because the rez is naff.
Tumblr media
Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 3 of 12 - Uh oh. Kang wants to save Sailom and be his hero. The fact that K’s Pa puts no pressure on him whatsoever, makes me wonder if K's Ma committed suicide or something? It’s definitely the opposite parental dynamic we normally see in BL. I have to say, the pacing is great in the show. And the acting is on point. It’s really great.
Hidden Agenda (Sun YT) ep 8 of 12 - these two just kiss well. I mean not "rip your clothes off Taiwan-style," but sweet young boyfriends-esk. Joke wants to be claimed so bad. It’s great. I enjoyed this ep, unfortunately it looks like we have a manufactured angst drama drop in the next episode. Is this a 10 episode arc? I thought it was 12. It’s odd to have doom happening next episode already.
Tumblr media
Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 4 of 10 - Back story time! Ray and Mew are HARD to watch. Incestuous friend group gay is the worst. Omg I got such QAF vibes from this ep. Nick Boston Sand chats = very throw back 90s gay soaps.
Location game moment: Top's hotel room is also Chan’s apartment in Laws Of Attraction.
Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 1 of 8 - Ooo. Est is back! Hi handsome. Head of security suits you. Please lead out the new Waterboyy remake? You’re perfect for the role. (If it must happen.) Yi’s Pa is GREAT. Please give daddy a nice boy? Could that be our secondary couple for this series?
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, with the leads (sorry I was distracted by daddy) we got us an arranged marriage, run away bride, and an amnesia trope. Put in a secret baby and it's squarely 1980's Harlequin. Will there be Vikings? Sex herbs? Pirates? Dub con?
Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 9 of 12 - Again with lovely sex scenes, it’s just the plot stringing them together is frayed. Also don’t fuck in an onsen. Both yech and ouch.
That goes for all y’all.
Wedding Plan (Wed YT & iQIYI) ep 7fin - Trash watch here! Honestly this was an okay ending, I’m not mad at it. If you can tolerate Mame and liars (kinda the same thing) you’ll be fine with this show.
Summation: An innocent wedding planner falls haplessly and hopelessly in love with a groom who relentlessly pursued him, even though he’s about to marry someone else. A somewhat lackluster mame offering with less of the usual stellar chemistry, but all of the usual lies and manipulation. 7/10
Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 3 of 10 - I skip everything to do with Tammy and it’s fine. There’s only about 20 minutes of fine but that’s more than enough. On the bright side. So far. No singing.
My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 2 of 24 eps - Cassanova Begins Part 2. Aw. It was sad. Another variation on the “my ghost boyfriend” trope (usually sad). 2/10 I don't do sad BL.
Next up is Merry Go Round featuring the pair from Destiny Seeker (we likey) who want to marry each other, but end up fake engaged to the same woman. Beard squared? Looks silly.
Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - There are 2 things I like about this. I bet you can guess what they are.
Lee Long Shi
The whipping boy trope
There wasn’t enough of either in this first ep. ALSO the captions, sound effects, and voice over are truly next level bad. Utterly atrocious.
The 2 leads fucking around in the end credits was the funniest part of the whole show.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Jun & Jun (Korea Thur Viki) ep 7 of 8 - I am confused and frustrated about what the communication delay is between the two Juns. It feels artificial and narratively manufactured. But since this is a short form KBL and I know it will be resolved quickly, I’m not as annoyed as I would be if this were Thai BL. Still it feels audience manipulative. I also feel sorry for Simon. BUT it looks like it’ll be a sweet boyfriends final episode.
Tumblr media
Stay By My Side (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 10fin - Omg they’re so cute!!! Taiwan the purveyors of ultimate sappy gay domesticity. I am going to miss having these to nonsencing all over my dash.
This show was an interesting take on the "ghost boyfriend" trope. About a boy who is tormented by hearing the dead, except when he is around one other boy - desperation+proximity = love. Unfortunately, the story was erratic and waffled about. While the leads turned in solid performances and the sappy domesticity was off the charts, it never really had the strength of the narrative convictions such a strong concept should have supplied. Highly rewatchable and enjoyable for that sappy domesticity but not a whole lot more. Still I always give extra credit for the diabetes-inducing sugar content and rewatch capacity. 8/10
Kisseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) eps 3 of 13(?) - I love the punching thing - there is a lot of violent flirting in this show. I’m not mad about it. Ugh, poor thing has real abandonment issues. And now trust issues. I see why we’re getting 12-14 eps. This gonna be MESSY.
Meanwhile, does EVERYONE have a guest cameo? Not that I’m complaining. Hi BLIHID boys! Now I need to rewatch that show.
Tumblr media
Love Class Season 2 (Korea Fri Viki) eps 7-8 of 10 - Oh my God the next morning w/ couple 2 was so darn cute. They are all such terrible flirts with each other. Honestly, this show makes me laugh more than any other BL currently airing. I’m not sure it is meant to be as funny as I find it. While couple 3 (the mature characters) is by far my favorite, I actually think they don’t work with the other two pairs, they feel superfluous to the show. I like the show better because they’re in it, but it feels like two different BL‘s stuck together. KBL certainly can’t handle more than two couple threads at the same time.
Why R U? (Korea Wed iQIYI) eps 3-4 of 8 - Ugh. I am such a sucker for the FighterTutor dynamic. Why so good? Uh oh. Real kiss! KBL you're spoiling us. But, isn’t sad-seme-hyung dating some chick? Argh. Poor Sunwoo. This show is even worse at repping Fighter's character sympathetically. Who knew that was possible?
My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 3 of 8 - The date episode! Even Japan is doing it now. And these two who have been living/fucking together for ages still dance around each other like junior high kids. I gotta say, I watch this one twice because Vicki has different subs from Gaga. I feel like it’s easier to understand if I watch two different translations of the same script. But it’s still quite a taciturn piece.
Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) ep 8 of 12 - Sides are great. It was mostly a cute ep with tiny bits of Progress and a proper Confession. I miss Shin’s siblings. And then… the much loathed amnesia trope. Really?
Everyone say it with me: Must you, Japan?
Stay Still (Hong Kong Tues YouTube) ep 5fin - It ended happier than I was expecting. Optimistic for one couple, and most likely optimistic for the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summation: What to say about this offering from Hong Kong? It’s different, a mix of early CBL, Taiwanese shorts, and Pinoy visuals. It felt like the story was 2 independent shorts that had been lengthen and then stuck together, and I wish they'd been approached as separate and tighter entities. Nevertheless, this was a complex little piece,  interesting in a sweaty grungy way, with a certain aura of queer authenticity that made it simultaneously tense, unpredictable, and refreshing. I’m not sure I would necessarily call it BL, but any county’s early foray into the genre usually starts out this way, so perhaps nascent BL? Worth watching, especially if you enjoy stuff from the Philippines and Taiwan. 7/10
In case you missed it
Dinosaur Love ended its run but the final 2 eps are behind a paywall. Word on the street is they aren't good anyway (shocker) so I'm marking it as DNF and moving on with my life. If I can find em grey I'll watch 'em merely so I can give it a rating, but I can't imagine it will get more than 5/10. Seriously, do not bother.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media
Coming September
9/15 You Are Mine (Taiwan Gaga) Secretary has to deal with grumpy boss.
9/15 Bump Up Business AKA Bump Up Project (Korea movie) suspected cinema release? I don't know much about what's going on. Last status update. Love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity from the same agency. Kpop boy group OnlyOneOf has signed up to star in this idol-based BL (based on a webtoon). They’ve been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV series in this post. It’s from Idol Romance who will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You).
9/26 I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan ????) - Adapted from the manga, childhood best friends: The cool, smart one who’s good at everything, and his average, dorky friend who struggles. Always by the other’s side, but not together in the way they truly want to be. No matter how hard they try, their hearts cannot reach each other.
9/27 Absolute Zero (Thai iQIYI) - from 2021, Studio Wabi Sabi and New Siwaj finally bring us this “time loop to prevent tragedy” romance. We don’t always get HEAs from them, so I'm on my guard.
9/? Venus in the Sky (Thai iQIYI) 10 eps
9/? Mr Cinderella 2 (Vietnam YouTube?)
2023 forthcoming BL master post (see comments, some are inaccurate, NOT KEPT UPDATED).

I Want You Instead - MM
WARNING: small angst and fluff, suggestive, infidelity (highly not recommended), reader gets cold feet, soon-to-be-sister-in-law mina, fiance reader, female (masc) reader, non idol scenario, fiction ofc
hopefully this is at least part of what you wanted. like for a part two
Tumblr media
a year and a month. in three months' time you were going to be with your other half for the rest of your life after knowing him for a year and a month.
you've known him platonically for about a year, have worked with him for ten months, and have dated him for three months. when he proposed to you, you were ecstatic. the love of your life, your light, your sun. you wanted to be with him forever. you loved your fiance. no way in the world would you ever even consider trading your relationship over him. he was your world; until he showed you his sister.
myoui mina.
up until now you have never seen your fiance's side of the family. he's got to see your family countless of times since they live nearby where you two were.
you've known him platonically for about a year, have worked with him for ten months, and have dated her for three months. when he proposed to you, you were ecstatic. the love of your life, your light, your sun. you wanted to be him forever. you loved your fiance. no way in the world would you ever even consider trading your relationship than to be with him. he was your world, until he showed you his sister.
up until now you have never seen your fiance's side of the family. he's got to see your family countless of times since they live nearby where you two were. yet nothing has been said about meeting his family or having you meet them. so when he told you he had invited his parents over for dinner on sunday, you were nervous.
you both luckily could speak japanese, so communicating the problem: meeting his sister was the problem. she just happened to be visiting from a hong kong business meeting, so it wasn't like you didn't know what to expect. but that also meant this was the first time seeing her. you couldn't help but think how she looked compared to him.
sunday came, and the myoui family arrived. you politely bowed to them, and quickly yet mannerly bowed to mina. when your eyes met her face, however, sparks flew. she was beautiful, and the accents on her face made her look even more stunning. she wore a white shirt that matched her hair color, jeans, black high heels, and silver necklace.
mina looked at you, and your heart nearly stopped. your fiance hadn't told you she was this pretty. you knew she was attractive by looking at pictures, but seeing her in person was something else. she had a captivating smile, and you found yourself staring into her eyes. your fiance acted as if this was completely normal, which only made you feel more embarrassed.
"mina, this is my wife to be. wife to be, mina," he nonchalantly introduced you two. you gulped before bowing again, saying hello to her.
she smiled, showing off her perfect teeth. "hello! i am so happy to finally meet you."
you nodded back, not sure how to react. your eyes wandered around the room, noticing how there was nothing special about it. only her. it was only her.
to your misfortune you found out that the myouis were to stay until the wedding night, meaning that three excruciating months were going to be with a family you barely know and a sister in law that looks sinfully cute. what to do? you asked yourself. you're conflicted.
--
first month.
mina helped you with decorations for the wedding, has showed you origami tricks, and has guided you in deep stretching to relieve any marriage nerves. you two are together almost all day every day, and you soon find that the time goes by faster than you thought. one thing you didn't expect was that mina had a hidden talent. she can sew.
"so you can make my dress?" you tried to elaborate, very excited upon hearing the talent.
mina smiled before nodding. "of course. free of charge, too. anything for my brother's future wife." she started to giggle as she watched you do a happy dance before thanking her.
you two went over the details, and mina went home to working on it right away. she also gave you a few tips on how to keep your fiance happy.
"he'll appreciate it if you cook for him," mina listed out. "and make sure that he takes care of you. you know, like how men like their women not doing hard labor."
you nodded, but in your head you were screaming out 'hell no!'. you never liked anyone bossing you, hence why you engaged to your fiance so quickly despite your parents' constant disapproval. fuck them, you thought, for not wanting what you wanted. but hearing all that this man wanted? fuck that even more.
--
second month.
you've gotten used to mina's presence, but it seems like she doesn't want to leave. she's always around, and you can't get rid of her. she even comes to work, which you figured was part of the plan. when she does, you try to make conversation, but she's not interested in talking about herself.
"you seem like a strong woman, so tell me about your past relationships," she asked.
legit gave up because i want to upload this before i rip my hair out

[TRANSLATION] Harper's Bazaar Hong Kong, March 2001
Faye Wong’s ‘I do what I want’ demeanor might give one an untouchable feeling that is so high it can’t be reached. She even projects an image of being a thousand miles away. But is this only an 'image’ or is it the truth?
Facing the pressure of the media who often distorts stories of celebrities’ private lives, does she have to directly put her feelings, her happiness, and her sadness in everyone’s faces? Is this the responsibility of a public figure? Perhaps in her own self-protecting way, like anyone else, hidden in her is a heart full of passion.
Maybe this interview will allow us to see what Faye Wong’s deep thoughts are.
About fashion/image…
Do you think you are beautiful?
I never use the word “beautiful” to describe anything to do with myself. I understand that everyone has different definitions for this word. But for me, I don’t even use this word to describe some people that I like very much. Maybe “beauty” feels too external to me! If the individual is attractive to me, it is beyond the level of “beauty”.
The media often lauds you for being a stylish singer. Every time you appear in public, your looks are often reported on by the media. What is your opinion on this? Are you bored by it?
I always try to be indifferent to any media reports. But there is no denying that when your image or appearance is appreciated or recognized by others, I believe it’s not hard to accept! However, I think these media reports are just gimmicks. They are really meaningless and will not cause me any emotional distress.
Do you think that as a singer, your clothing style and image shouldn’t be manipulated by a stylist?
Not only singers, but even ordinary people. If our appearance is only manipulated by stylists, it wouldn't be gratifying. The person who knows yourself best is always yourself. If you only allow outsiders to guide you on how to dress, then your own style will be completely lost. At least I would feel uncomfortable. I firmly believe that no matter how much an image is designed, the most basic truth should be based on personality. What’s the point if you can’t even understand yourself!?
Do you have any fashion designers you admire or love?
Never thought about this. Basically, I start with the “garments”. I rarely buy a certain designer’s design every season just because of my love for them. The most important thing depends on whether their seasonal works [collections] can meet my personal preferences.
From the days of  "Wong Jing Man", your image was “ordinary” at the beginning, and now you are recognized as a person with outstanding style. How did you cultivate such a unique personal taste?
I have never tried to cultivate any unique style. Are you speaking of the changes from my debut to the present? I believe that everyone will inevitably go through different changes as they mature. From beginning to end, what I wore was purely out of my different preferences at different times, and I never cared about the likes and dislikes of the public.
Do you think the public is more interested in your image or your music?
There are two aspects.  For example, for some who love to listen to my songs, one day I might wear some clothes that do not suit their “eyes”, but I believe they will still support my music. It is also possible that some people loved my style and started trying to get familiar with my music and fell in love with the songs I sang. For me, it doesn’t really matter which way they start [as fans].
About the media…
What do you think about the media in Hong Kong?
Compared with Hong Kong, the Taiwanese media gave me a “quiet” feeling. Gossip news is inevitable. But it is obviously not as severe [as Hong Kong]. The Hong Kong media pays particular attention to the development in this area and it has even become a common practice. Local competition is fierce, so they often have to “win by a surprise move” [aggressive tactics].  But in fact, there is fierce competition everywhere! Why is it only the Hong Kong media [that does this]? I am not denying the need for this type of reporting. But it does seem to be too widespread now and it has reached the point of “going overboard”!
Often harassed by paparazzi, it seems that you have lost your private life! It may be as simple as eating a bowl of wonton noodles and the media will make an exaggerated and inaccurate report so that it becomes another “drama” to entertain the audience. How do you feel about this? Is it tiring?
In these circumstances, the only thing you can do is try your best to protect your privacy. I can only look a little bit at these false reports! I believe that the audience and readers just smile after seeing these reports, so why take it too seriously? Besides, its purpose is only to entertain the public. I know how to separate it from my private life.
Is the price of fame worth it?
There is certainly a price. To become a public figure, you have to face the curiosity of the public, and naturally you will be affected by these curiosities. I understand this and it is human nature, but I don’t think that because of this reason, I need to lose all privacy. This is not my responsibility. If the media and the general public think that just because I am a celebrity that I “should” have no privacy, then it is a very wrong idea.  I believe they should also adopt an open attitude towards their own comments and criticisms.
If you have the opportunity to choose again from the beginning, would you rather choose the fame you have today or just be an ordinary person?
There is no choice! Even if you start from scratch, it will only go with the flow. Actually, everything that happened, I didn’t “choose” it, maybe it’s fate…
About myself…
What is your goal in life? Is it everything you obtained now?
I hope that in any environment and situation, I can be carefree and at peace. Actually, this is very difficult to achieve. I am only trying to learn the principles of being a human being from every moment.
Was it your childhood wish to be a singer?
It was not. I never thought about becoming a professional singer. But I loved to sing since I was a child. It was an inevitable thing.
Do you love making movies?
Actually, sometimes I don’t have much confidence in acting. But at the same time, I am strongly interested. The situation is very contradictory. So I will only take a film if I have enough confidence. Singing is always more natural for me.
Ever wondered what you would do if you were not a singer?
Never thought about it. I am not a person with a long-term plan, so I am more comfortable going with the flow.
Do you like living in Hong Kong? Or is there another place you want to settle down?
It has been 13 years since I have settled in Hong Kong. It has been a long time and I have become accustomed to everything that happened in Hong Kong. And in the future, I hope that I will not settle in only one place….Hong Kong… or Paris which I love… That’s what I hope!
At the present moment, what do you think is the most important thing in life?
Same as what everyone else wants every moment: carefree mind and healthy body.
Are you satisfied with your current life?
Satisfied. Actually, I have a lot now, so I should be satisfied! The only other thing is hoping that oneself can be better. What I mean here is not wealth or career, but spiritual experience and pleasure…I just hope that I can “practice” this better. Right!

Diệu's Thoughts on Obihiro Division
Tumblr media
Hisoka Tetsumasu
"Ah, Mr. Horse Breeder. Or so, he'd like to call himself. Honestly, the Triad has had tabs on him since his previous work with ENAN. ...What, surprised I know about that? You vastly underestimate the Triad's information network. How else do you think so many Japanese weapons ended up in Hong Kong? It's actually because of his group that we were one of the first to get our hands on a Hypnosis Microphone, albeit an illegal one."
"And not to quote my dear leader, Alexis, Mr. Horse Breeder, but if your intention was to keep a low profile, you really should have done more to keep yourself hidden. Changing up your appearance may fool some people. But unfortunately for you, most of the people in this D.R.B. are not some people."
Daiki Kamiyama
"I'm so proud of Alexis! I never thought she'd actually manage to snag herself a little fanboy! Usually, I'm the one that's popular with children. But I have no problem sharing the love now and then. I'm actually a bit surprised he's shown no interest in me. But then again, he is still just a child. Better to let him live in his imaginary world for a little bit longer."
"Aside from that, I did some digging up on him. Apparently, he's the last child of a famous and prestigious family from the UK. The Kamiyamas, if I'm not mistaken. His brothers have actually purchased some of my jewelry online, I think. Glad to see my work is attracting such a high clientele."
Jack Verrill
"Last but not least, the butler. ...Ha, is that as cliche as it sounds? A butler joining a rap tournament? This D.R.B. just pulls out all kinds, doesn't it? ...Of course, he's not entirely just a butler, are you, Mr. Verrill? Yes, I know you're not entirely what you seem. In fact, it wouldn't entirely be inaccurate to say that you are just like me and my teammates, aren't you? You are here for some other purpose. I've no doubt that you hold some sort of affection for your charge, but at the end of the day, he's just a mission, isn't he?"
"Oh, don't misunderstand. I'm not judging. After all, we all have our own masks to hide. Some more than others. I just want to make sure that our goals and missions don't intersect with each other. As long as you assure that, you've absolutely nothing to worry about from me. I promise."
Veiled Vanguard
"Ha, as I mentioned earlier, this rap tournament is just drawing a wide variety of people to Japan, isn't it? A former black-market dealer, a young heir to a prestigious family, and a butler who is not what he seems to be. Quite a team-up, wouldn't you say? As far as the team, itself, goes, I've no real issue with any of them. ...In fact, if the horse breeder and butler are up for it, I'd like to offer them both a job when this is over. The Triad could always use more people like you in its ranks. Give that a thought and hit me back, if you don't mind."

Discovering the Best Time to Travel to Hong Kong: Navigating Weather Conditions
Hong Kong, a city pulsating with energy and cultural diversity, offers travelers a fascinating blend of modernity and tradition. Whether you're wandering through bustling markets, exploring ancient temples, or savoring mouthwatering street food, there's something for everyone in this vibrant metropolis. However, understanding the weather patterns is essential for planning a memorable trip. Let's delve into the best time to travel to Hong Kong based on weather considerations.
Hong Kong experiences four distinct seasons, each offering its own unique charm and appeal to visitors. Understanding the nuances of each season can help you plan your trip effectively and ensure an unforgettable experience in this dynamic city.
Tumblr media
Spring: Blossoms and Balmy Breezes
As winter bids farewell and spring unfolds, Hong Kong transforms into a picturesque landscape adorned with blooming flowers and lush greenery. From March to May, temperatures range from a pleasant 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), creating ideal conditions for outdoor exploration. It's the perfect time to embark on scenic hikes, leisurely strolls through parks, and indulgent picnics amidst nature's splendor. Cultural festivals, such as the Tin Hau Festival and the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, add to the festive atmosphere, providing visitors with an authentic glimpse into local traditions.
Summer: Sizzling Heat and Festive Vibes
Summer in Hong Kong, spanning from June to August, brings with it sweltering temperatures and high humidity levels. Daytime temperatures often soar above 30°C (86°F), making it the hottest time of the year. Despite the heat, summer is a season of vibrant festivities and cultural celebrations. From the exhilarating Dragon Boat Festival to the colorful displays of the Hungry Ghost Festival, there's no shortage of events to immerse yourself in. While outdoor activities may require extra precautions to beat the heat, evenings come alive with bustling night markets and lively street performances, offering a taste of Hong Kong's electrifying nightlife.
Autumn: Mild Temperatures and Golden Hues
Autumn, from September to November, is widely regarded as the best time to visit Hong Kong, thanks to its mild temperatures and comfortable weather conditions. With daytime temperatures ranging from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F), it's the perfect season for outdoor adventures and sightseeing. The city's parks and gardens come alive with vibrant hues of red and gold as the foliage changes, creating a stunning backdrop for leisurely walks and scenic photographs. Cultural festivals, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Fire Dragon Dance, offer visitors a glimpse into Hong Kong's rich heritage and traditions.
Winter: Cool Comfort and Seasonal Festivities
Winter in Hong Kong, from December to February, brings cooler temperatures and drier weather compared to other seasons. While daytime temperatures hover around 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F), it's still a comfortable time to explore the city's attractions and cultural landmarks. Festive cheer fills the air as Christmas decorations adorn the streets, and holiday markets offer an array of seasonal delights. Visitors can indulge in winter delicacies such as hot pot and roast goose, or take part in traditional festivities such as Chinese New Year, marked by colorful parades and lively dragon dances.
Off-Peak Travel: Embracing Tranquility and Savings
Traveling to Hong Kong during the off-peak seasons can offer several advantages, including fewer crowds, lower prices for accommodations and attractions, and a more relaxed pace of travel. While weather conditions may be less predictable during these times, with occasional rain showers and cooler temperatures, it's an excellent opportunity to explore the city's hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path attractions. Whether you're discovering secluded beaches, wandering through tranquil gardens, or savoring authentic cuisine in neighborhood eateries, off-peak travel allows you to experience Hong Kong like a local.
Insider Tips for Weather-Proof Travel
Regardless of when you choose to visit Hong Kong, it's essential to be prepared for the weather and plan your activities accordingly. Here are some insider tips to help you weather-proof your trip and make the most of your time in this vibrant city:
Pack light and breathable clothing: Hong Kong's weather can be hot and humid, especially during the summer months, so it's essential to dress comfortably in lightweight, breathable fabrics.
Carry an umbrella or raincoat: While rain showers are less frequent during the autumn and winter months, it's always a good idea to carry an umbrella or raincoat to stay dry in case of unexpected downpours.
Stay hydrated: With the heat and humidity of Hong Kong's summers, it's crucial to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Consider carrying a reusable water bottle to refill at hydration stations located throughout the city.
Plan indoor activities: If the weather becomes too hot or rainy, take refuge in Hong Kong's many indoor attractions, such as museums, art galleries, and shopping malls. It's a great way to stay cool and explore the city's cultural heritage.
Check the weather forecast: Stay informed about the latest weather conditions and forecasts to plan your activities accordingly and avoid any unexpected surprises. Consider downloading a weather app or checking online weather updates before heading out for the day.

A Culinary Journey Through Indian Flavors: Discover the Best Indian Restaurant in Hong Kong
When it comes to indulging in the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine, finding an authentic Indian restaurant in Hong Kong can be a delightful adventure. With the vibrant food scene in the city, one can explore a multitude of Indian culinary experiences, making Hong Kong a hotspot for food enthusiasts. Whether you are a local or a tourist, the quest for the perfect Indian restaurant in Hong Kong is a journey worth embarking on.
Hong Kong, a city known for its dynamic culinary landscape, offers an array of Indian restaurants that cater to diverse palates. From the bustling streets of Tsim Sha Tsui to the serene neighborhoods of Sai Ying Pun, Indian eateries are scattered across the city, each bringing its unique touch to the traditional Indian dining experience. The journey begins with a warm welcome, fragrant spices, and a menu that promises to take you on a gastronomic adventure.
Exploring the Flavors of India
Indian cuisine is renowned for its complexity and depth of flavor, achieved through the harmonious blend of spices and ingredients. A typical Indian restaurant in Hong Kong offers a variety of dishes that represent the culinary traditions of different regions of India. From the fiery curries of the South to the rich and creamy dishes of the North, the menu is a reflection of India's culinary diversity.
Starters: The Prelude to a Feast
Begin your culinary journey with a selection of appetizers that set the tone for the meal. Samosas, crispy pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas, are a popular choice. Another favorite is the Tandoori Chicken, marinated in yogurt and spices, then cooked in a traditional clay oven, resulting in tender, flavorful meat with a smoky aroma.
Main Course: A Symphony of Flavors
The main course in an Indian restaurant  Hong Kong is a symphony of flavors and textures. One cannot miss the classic Butter Chicken, tender pieces of chicken cooked in a creamy tomato-based sauce, enriched with butter and aromatic spices. For vegetarians, Paneer Tikka Masala is a must-try, featuring chunks of paneer  cooked in a spicy and tangy gravy.
For those who prefer rice dishes, Biryani is a star attraction. This fragrant rice dish, layered with marinated meat or vegetables and cooked with saffron and aromatic spices, is a meal in itself. Each bite of Biryani transports you to the streets of Hyderabad, where this dish has its roots.
Breads: The Perfect Accompaniments
No Indian meal is complete without an assortment of breads. Naan, a soft and fluffy bread cooked in a tandoor, pairs perfectly with rich gravies. Roti, a whole wheat flatbread, is a healthier alternative and goes well with any dish. For a unique twist, try the Garlic Naan, infused with the aromatic flavor of garlic and butter.
Dining Ambiance and Experience
The dining experience at an Indian restaurant in Hong Kong is as important as the food itself. Many restaurants create an ambiance that reflects the vibrant and colorful culture of India. From traditional Indian décor to soothing Indian music, every element is designed to enhance the dining experience.
Finding the Best Indian Restaurant in Hong Kong
With so many options to choose from, finding the best Indian restaurant in Hong Kong can be overwhelming. One way to ensure a great dining experience is to look for restaurants that have received positive reviews and high ratings from patrons. Additionally, word-of-mouth recommendations from friends and family can lead you to hidden gems that offer authentic Indian cuisine.
Conclusion
The culinary journey through Indian flavors in Hong Kong is an experience that tantalizes the taste buds and leaves a lasting impression. Whether you are a fan of spicy curries, rich gravies, or fragrant rice dishes, an Indian restaurant in Hong Kong has something to offer everyone. The next time you crave Indian food, embark on this flavorful adventure and discover the best that Hong Kong has to offer.

COMPARING QUOTES OF MOVING COMPANIES: TIPS AND TRICKS
Choosing the appropriate moving company is one of the most important things when it comes to planning a move. Finding a good moving company is crucial for moving in a city like Hong Kong, where population density is high and space is minimal. This all starts with comparing moving company quotes, which might prove overwhelming on its own. Some useful tips and tricks to assist in comparing efficiently and making an informed decision on what looked like a daunting task—comparing moving company quotes—follow.
1. Know What's in the Quote
First, if you are to compare moving company quotes, then make sure about what each quote includes. What one company considers a standard package might not be on par with what another company provides. A moving company quote should, at a minimum, contain:
Labor Costs: This includes all the wages for people that will pack, load, transport, and unload your goods.
Packing Supplies: These would be boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc., needed to protect your stuff.
Transportation Costs: Moving truck, gas, tolls/parking fees.
Insurance: Basic insurance covering your belongings during the move.
Be sure each company provides a line item of its quote so that it is clear what is included and what might be charged extra for.
2. Look out for Hidden Fees
Not all moving companies will include everything in their standard quote. Charges can therefore emerge on moving day that haven't been captured in your estimate. Common hidden charges include:
- Stair Fees: Extra charges if movers have to carry items up or down stairs.
- Long Carry Fees: Additional charges if the moving truck is unable to park near your home or office building, and movers have to carry items a longer distance.
- Disassembly/Reassembly Fees: Charges to take apart and reassemble your furniture.
- Storage Fees: Charges to store your stuff if your new house is not ready right away.
Ask each moving company to disclose any potential additional fees up front so you're not surprised by an expensive bill later. All you'll need to do then is compare each quote, apples to apples.
3. Compare Apples to Apples
Compare Apples to Apples: Compare similar services among the various quotes you have at hand. For example, one quote may include packing services, while the other may not. Add packing services to the second quote so that you have something to compare. Make a checklist of what you want, and check that against each quote.
4. Check the Company's Reputation
Though a lower quote may be attractive, you have to think about the credibility of the moving company. You may read through testimonials and reviews to get an idea about the level of service quality. To be noted, reputable movers should have positive reviews where they satisfy previous clients by efficiently and professionally moving them. Websites that review moving companies, such as Yelp and Google Reviews, along with local forums, should give valuable insights into a company's character.
5. Verify Insurance Coverage
Insurance is an important part of any moving quote. Be sure you know what type of insurance is being quoted and precisely what it covers. Basic insurance will typically provide only a very small amount per pound of goods, so it would not be sufficient for high-value items. Additional insurance should be considered if required, along with how one might file a claim in the event of damage or loss.
6. Ask About Customization
Your move is unique, and your moving company should be able to accommodate you.ナル Ask them about the ability to customize services or packages with each company you are looking into. Whether it is fragile handling, temporary storage, or packing, assistance with a flexible moving company for carrying out their specific services under tailored solutions will work the best for you.
7. Get Quotes in Writing
Verbal quotes may be misconceived or misinterpreted. Always get written quotes from all moving companies. This written quote must be in detail and explicate all the services settled on and charges agreed on. This paper acts as a reference when there is a dispute.
Conclusion: Comparing moving company quotes is a step toward having a smooth and hassle-free move. You will be able to do this by understanding what each quote includes, looking out for any hidden fees, checking on the company's reputation, verifying insurance coverage, and checking if there are any options for customization. You can then make a better decision about your move. In Hong Kong, moving has its own set of challenges; therefore, taking time to compare these quotes will help you choose the right moving company and ensure a successful relocation.

Tumblr media
1. Walled City Park in Kowloon:

It offers a tranquil escape from the bustle of the city as well as an enlightening look at Hong Kong's distinct past.
2. The Bird Garden on Yuen Po Street:
The serene Yuen Po Street Bird Garden is a haven in the busy metropolis. For bird lovers, this traditional Chinese-style garden is a favorite. Locals are seen interacting with one another, purchasing bird-related goods, and taking walks with their pet birds here. The lovely layout of the garden, combined with the soothing sound of chirping birds, creates a calm and charming ambiance that is ideal for a leisurely stroll.
3. The Police Married Quarters, or PMQ:
A creative hotspot, is situated in the busy Central neighbourhood. It was originally constructed as accommodation for married police officers, but now local designers, artists, and business owners use it as a workspace. There are several different stores, galleries, and restaurants at PMQ. It's a terrific spot to find unusual goods, take in modern artwork, and encourage regional ingenuity.
4. Tai O Fishing Village:
Fishing Village Tai O is often referred to as the "Venice of Hong Kong." Tai O Fishing Village provides an insight into the city's customs surrounding fishing. This little community on Lantau Island is well-known for its seafood, lively market, and stilt cottages. Tourists may see the stilt dwellings up close and potentially even spot pink dolphins by taking a boat excursion. The calmer pace and rustic beauty of Tai O provide a welcome counterpoint to the fast-paced lifestyle of the city.
5. The Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas:
The Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, a hidden treasure in Sha Tin, provides a calm spiritual experience. It is not a functioning monastery, despite its name, but it does have an amazing collection of more than 10,000 Buddha statues. Hundreds of golden Buddha statues, each with a distinct expression and stance, line the ascent to the monastery. The hike is worthwhile because of the serene surroundings and breathtaking vistas at the summit.
6. Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery:
Traditional Chinese architecture and gardening can be perfectly observed on Diamond Hill at Chi Lin Nunnery and the nearby Nan Lian Garden. The nunnery is a sizable Buddhist temple complex with peaceful lotus ponds and wooden structures constructed in the Tang period style. Nan Lian Garden is an exquisitely designed park featuring well-kept vegetation, water elements, and classic wooden buildings. When combined, they provide a calm haven in the center of the city.
7. Village of Lai Chi Wo:
Northeastern New Territories is home to the well-preserved Hakka village of Lai Chi Wo. It's a great place for hikers and environmental enthusiasts, surrounded by mangroves and beautiful forests. The community itself has temples, ancestral halls, and typical Hakka homes. Visitors can travel back in time and enjoy a bit of Hong Kong's rural heritage by exploring Lai Chi Wo.
8. The Island of Peng Chau:
A peaceful escape from Hong Kong's bustling city is provided by the small, serene island of Peng Chau. The island is well-known for its rustic charm, beautiful walking trails, and easy-going vibe. Peng Chau Fisherman's Village, the Finger Hill hiking trail, and a number of exquisite temples are some of the main attractions. Peng Chau is a great place for a day trip because of its slower pace and small-town atmosphere.
9. Lei Pai and Chau Ap Lei:
A bridge connects the small island of Ap Lei Chau to Hong Kong Island's southern coast. It is well-known for the charming Aberdeen Harbor, the old temples, and the neighbourhood fish market. The smaller, deserted island of Ap Lei Pai is reachable from Ap Lei Chau after a short stroll. The hike is a wonderful way to take in Hong Kong's natural beauty and gives breathtaking views of the surrounding waterways.
10. The Back Trail of the Dragon:
The Dragon's Back Trail is a must-see for nature lovers. Enjoy breathtaking views of the South China Sea, mountains, and coastline from this well-liked hiking track, which is one of the greatest in all of Hong Kong.
