3 Inspiring J-Dramas about bouncing back to life that you could watch

1) Mirai e no 10 Count / 10 Count Towards the Future (2022)

Kirisawa Shogo (Kimura Takuya) is a 48 year old who sleepwalks through life doing pizza delivery earning enough just to survive. He suffered injuries that ended his boxing career around the same time he lost his wife to illness. He tried to start over by opening a restaurant but it closed down due to Covid-19. He lost the will to live thinking that no matter what he do, things always ends badly for him that he gives up on life.

Until one day, his one and only friend, forced him into becoming a part time boxing coach for students in a bid to get him back on his feet doing something he love, hoping to spark that light in him once again. He was reluctant and lack the motivation to teach which agitates the school teacher, Orihara Aoi (Mitsushima Hikari) who doesn’t understand why he is wasting time here doing something he clearly has no interest in doing. 

But over time, as he tries to make the best of his present life and understand his students, he realises that they are all as lost and broken like him, in need of help and guidance. Each of them, experiencing loss and hardship in different ways which reminded him of his own suffering and tried to help, which eventually leads him to find his new purpose in life. As he help them navigate through life, he found his own bearing and change.

2) Fight Song (2022)

Kisara Hanae (Kiyohara Kaya) was abandoned by her father when she was a child after her mother died. Her father was overcome with grief and sorrow that he totally forgot his own daughter and disappeared from her life. She ends up in an orphanage where she grew up wanting to become strong so that she does not have to rely on anyone in life, becoming a formidable karate fighter who won tournaments.

But one night, her life change when she got into an accident causing the gradual loss of her hearing, which she hides from the others as she does not want to be treated differently or with pity. But keeping it to herself eat her up eventually as she felt alone and lost, not knowing what to do with her life as she no longer able to do Karate and feels that she is no longer as strong and driven as she once was.

She sleepwalk through life doing cleaning services just to earn enough to survive while figuring out what to do with her life. One day, she met Ashida Haruki (Mamiya Shotaro), a once famous singer due to his one hit wonder song but is now as lost and broken as she is when his band disbanded due to life happenings as he struggles to make a living. They are both searching for new meaning in life.

3) Teppachi / Iron Helmet (2022)

Kokusho Hiroshi (Machida Keita) never really fit anywhere since school where he always end up being the outcast or being bullied. After his single mother abandons him in his teenage years, he struggles to support himself through life alone, changing jobs constantly trying to find a place he can belong to but to no avail. He ends up becoming a delinquent, getting into street fights and so on, until he meets a stranger who changes his life.

Seeing no other choice or way out in life, he decides against his better judgement to accept the stranger’s offer in joining the military. Although he knew he is not a team player that doesn’t fit anywhere, he agrees to go through the training phase at least for the stable income, food and shelter he will receive during his time in camp which is better than floating around through life struggling to pay rentals and paying for his food.

He meet individuals who has their own baggages of life as he sees a different part of him in each and everyone of them as he eventually relates to them and befriend them. Over time, they got over their petty differences and support each other throughout the rigorous training, not only becoming a strong team but a strong individual as he feels himself changing for the better as he for the first time in his life, thinks about the future.
