It's about time I address the elephant in the room: WHAT HAPPENED TO HILDA AND THE LOST FUTURE?
So, for anyone who doesn't know, in I believe early 2021 I started a comic called Hilda and the Lost Future, based off the episode the 50 year night. I haven't updated this comic in a while and I know I've had some people ask me when it'll come back
A tl;dr for anyone who wants the short answer:
It will be a while. It's not my current priority or main interest, but I absolutely want to get back to it at some point: When I do, it'll be from slowly working on multiple pages in the background which will eventually be posted every week when I have a big backlog.
For anyone wanting any more information tho, theres a number of reason's its been a while
A big one is burnout. I got really heavily burnt out I believe late 2021 and I haven't done nearly as much drawing as I would've liked since then
One of the factors for why I had so much burn out was university - For those of you who don't know, I'm currently a University student, specifically I just finished my second year meaning I have the Big Boy Dissertation coming up for my final year. I also had a job until late last year which I'd work during my uni breaks so I had like no real break.
Uni has taken generally just a lot of my time and energy away from me and it's because of uni that I haven't been drawing much. I'm still tryna get back into drawing way more regularly and it's a little disheartening that in some regards I'm a tad rusty, but I still enjoy drawing way too much to quit
Another issue that doesn't help is, as I'm sure a lot of you have noticed, I've been bitten by the minecraft bug quite bad. Or more that it's come back from the grave because I swear my minecraft obsession never truly left. And like as a result of that I've even been making my own videos! It's been really fun and I'm having a blast. I honestly have been finding making videos really fun and a nice escape from uni, plus a good excuse to draw (thumbnails). Outside of the game itself I've been very into a lot of mcyt fandoms, currently I am loving watching hermitcraft and I have loved bansmp (a series by my friend bantaro) and its been a blast being able to be a part of that series which I've loved watching.
I still like Hilda a lot, don't get me wrong. I'm just way more focused on other interests at the moment and with so little time it kinda leaves you prioritising, and I definitely lost steam with my strict schedule I put upon myself.
So, where does that leave us?
I know initally when I started the comic I had a lot of people offer to help out, help make it and things. I still am sure that I do not want this, as much as I appreciate peoples' offers.
One of the main focuses of the comic, outside of telling a story I have planned out, is to improve my drawing skills and make a comic from start to end by myself. I also know I'd be too particular with the way things would be done to want to pass it to someone else, and I don't want to like hand it off. It's something I want to do for myself, and again it's a way for me to improve my drawing skills. I mean heck, from the pages I've done so far I already vastly improved my ability to do backgrounds and perspective.
My plan is to work on pages in the background, not give any real estimation of when I'm working on them or not or when to expect them. Just a slow work on them every so often as I focus more on other things. That way, when I eventually get say (as an example), 10 pages finished, I'll do an announcement and I'll post the finished pages spacing them out a week at a time, to give myself a buffer. If this like makes me passionate enough to bump out one a week like I originally did, I'll do that, but if not then I'll repeat the process of slowly working on a bunch and posting them all after a lot are finished
So yeah! For anyone who read this far instead of just reading the tl;dr, I appreciate it! I know its a long and probably overdue talk on things, but I thought it'd be worth talking about because I've been thinking about the comic a lot lately and how I wanna get back to it. I just also know that like, I don't wanna burn myself out with it again so it'll be more of a slow project to chip away at.
Again currently my main focus has been youtube (link in pinned post), and if you're enjoying that then I'm glad to hear! I have another video that I'm hoping to get done before next week, though I've come down with a cold so it might be a little iffy on that front. Otherwise, hope you all have a nice day! :)

A look at the Wind of the New World garment line
Tumblr media
So this post will be longer probably. But it will be defrent from the post I made about the Constructivism in Concept, or the One Moment of Aria garment line. Here there are less specific refrencess for the most part, or things elements of the remind me of. So this post posably will be a mess. And in the end there is a bonnus one.
This garment line has two themes. Dreams, and vehicles. The skin line was discribed as what the chracters would be doing if the "storm" didn't existed. A lot of the informations will be from the 1.9 Aniversery live stream.
Voyager - New Journey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the life stream it was said that here she is a traveling poet.
In the splash art the background reminds me to German expressionisum. I don't know why, but it reminds me to it. But it could also be surealism based, from the realistic gaint rabbit.
So I looked up about ridding a rabbit as a horse, and such for posable inspiration. I found a Grimm tale where a girl almost get's married to a Hare. But I also found found an ilustration from the 50s by Hilda McGavin. It might not be an inspiration of elves and a rabbit, but it's a nice little ilustration that I found.
Tumblr media
2. Regulus - Take Off To The Future
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this will be probably a short one.
So Regulus's vehicles, is a combination of a submarine, and a plane. A flying submarine is a thing that people tryd to make, but faild. Posible ilustration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Desert Flannel - Call of the Wild
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So in the live stream Australian art was mentiond, but for some reason I don't really see it. They posably were refering to the Emu's on the air ballon.
So she is now advebturing in the Australian wilderness.
4. Mesmer JR - A Day to Rest
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mesmer in her splash art she is ridding a penny farthing. The penny fathing was invented in 1871 by British engineer, James Starley. This bicycle got it's name from the two deffrent sized wheels. The front wheel was bigger and was likend to a penny, and the reat wheel that was small was compared to a farthing, whci was a quarter of a penny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Jessica - Voyage From Your Bed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So she is dressed up as a sailer, who is sailing on her bed in a dream. A little fantasy.
Okey. I'm not saying that it's an inspiration, or a possible insiparation, or is based on it. But for some reason to me, one of the first things that come to my mind about this skin (especially the splash art) was Little Nemo in Slumberland. If someone doasn't know Little Nemo in Slumerland was originally a newspaper comuc strip was first published in the Sunday comics section of The New York Herald newspaper in 1905, and was made by Winsor McCay an American cartoonist and animator, who is also the creator of Gertie the Dinosaur, aka one of the first animation that was made with keyframs. In 1911 Winsor McCay made a few short animations about the comic.
youtube
Little Nemo in Slumberland is also called as a "unrealised Ghibli" movie. Well known Japanise anime producer Yutaka Fujioka wanted to creat a movie that was a Japanise American co-production. For a time Hayao Miyazaki worked on the project, but ended up leaving it among many staff members. Yutaka Fujioka also aproched George Lucas, Chuck Jones too. The movie had multiple defrent pilots, but a lot of them become lost media. Many animators and artists worked on they own Little Nemo project with no menegment, or direction, so because of this it's esstimated that 5-6 hours of footage got lost, and there is a really big chence that most, or at least many of it will never will be found.
youtube
I'm not saying that the skin is based on it. It just reminds me to this.
Bonuse 6. Sonetto - Overlapping Worlds
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the live stream it wa said that this skinns are what the characters would be doing if the "storm never happand". So it's safe to say from this skin that this is what Sonetto would be doing if the "strom" never happand. Posably be a poet, or a writer in Sicily.

Let's go with 5!
5. Favourite Little Detail in a Drawing you did?
I’ve gotta go with this drawing, it is FULL of references, and you know what imma go into them now-
Tumblr media
GREEN - This is all just Character Portraits
1 is The Bellkeeper (in what is quite possibly my worst drawing of him)
4 is The Raven, with writing saying “where is he?” And “dead?” In reference to the fact that he doesn’t appear in season 2
7 is David’s Marra
18 is Kaisa
21 is Two of The Three Witches
23 is The Kraken’s Eye
30 is a shitpost esque doodle of the Lost Clan’s Pigeon caption “free pigeon, please take her”
32 is Victoria Van Gale
PINK - The Most Populated Cateogry, this section is in universe posters, drawings, notes, things like that!
2 is one of Johanna’s Bell Ceremony Posters
5 is a poster that hangs in Hilda”s room with the words “always watching?” Scribbled on it. Bc. It’s an eye
6 is the plans from The Old Bells of Trollberg, with writing saying “diagrams now inaccurate” as the bell tower was partially destroyed in that episode
9 is the “shed some light” poster from the library
11 is a Troll Awareness Poster that I think was hung in the school?
15 is Johanna’s doodles from “The Tide Mice”
17 is another one of Johanna’s Bell Posters
22 is a poster I think was hung in the library
24 I actually can’t remember? From the look of it I think it’s a reference to an in universe poster but I can’t for the life of me think what it was
26 is a poster in Saftey Patrol Headquarters
27 is the Oracle Page we see in The Jorts Episode
28 is The Bellkeeper’s Woff Migration Trackings
31 is a doodle that was stuck to Hilda’s fridge
33 is from the old bells of Trollberg but I’m not sure exactly what it is
38 is a Automated Bellkeeper Diagram
RED - This is all references to Fandom Stuff, Comics, Characters, etc
8 is a missing poster for my OC Lauren
10 is a drawing of a background character with the words “conservative?” written on it, in reference to this post where I called her a Tory
14 is the cover of the wonderful @randomwords247’s comic “Hilda and The Lost Future”, which you should go read by the way
29 says “Gays?” On it and has some writing that I can no longer read, and I got a few questions about who the charcaters underneath were! These charcaters are Mine and Randy’s Ducktales OCs Winnie and Shaelyn, they r girlfriends :]
YELLOW - The Filler section, this is all stuff I made up lol
3, 35, 36, and 37 are all just scribbles to fill space, I couldn’t fit any actual references in their small spaces so these ones don’t actually have any hidden meanings
12 is Troll Hilda with the words Trollda written on it
34 is a Trolls Awareness Poster that I made up myself
20 is an pamphlet encouraging people to join the saftey patrol (I believe I took the bit of the number you can see from another poster), that Hilda has drawn a large cross over
15 is a bullet point list entitled “Who is Luke?”, that says “God? The Creator, Unknown Spillages, Scarf???, and Don’t Look”
19 is another list, that says “went camping, [lite] rock suck[s], David fucking died, it’s fine”
Forgot to number this one, but it’s circled, there’s a lil “Luke Pearson” signature in the corner of a drawing that is mostly covered up

For the ask game... 20 and 21?
Damn it, Yoru — why you gotta hit me with the hard questions? 🤣
20. Your favorite book?
This honestly changed a lot over the years, but in recent times my favorite has to be His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik. I’ll always a enjoy a full on fantasy novel, but I am absolute glutton for historical fiction when it’s done right. In this case, the Napoleonic Wars, but with aviators who ride dragons? Hell fucking yeah, sign me up for that.
That aside, Laurence and Temeraire are right up there with Hiccup and Toothless as one of my absolute favorite dragon rider pairs, and their relationship in the book and throughout the series has definitely found its way into my own writing.
21. Your favorite show?
Ok, so I’m actually gonna have to list these out cause there’s a lot, so bear with me:
Dinosapien (2007) — The first time I watched this was back when I was 10 years old, but it’s simple premise—what if dinosaurs never went extinct—has secured a place in my imagination for years since. The last rerun was back in 2012, but a gracious uploaded the whole series to YouTube, so I’ve been rewatching the whole series for that childhood nostalgia.
The Future is Wild — Referring to both the documentary-style series that aired in 2003, and then the animated version that ran on Discovery Kids alongside Dinosapien in 2007. All three together sparked my love for speculative evolution, and while at this point they’re severely outdated, they continue to inspire me to this day. (Also, I recently discovered that TFIW got a manga as well??? 👀 Gonna have to dig for that)
Teen Titans (2003-2007) — Okay, so this series sparked a LOT of firsts with me. This was what got little baby Drek into the world of DC Comics to begin with, and where he found his first cartoon crush (#RavenSupremacy). Most importantly, however, it was what exposed me to fan culture at large, and led me to want to create my own works within that universe. As such, this series holds a VERY special place in my heart.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (2020) — To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t exactly sure about this series at first, and wasn’t intending on watching it until my little brother roped me into it. When he did, though...holy shit, I fell hard. The soundtrack, the setting, the art style, the characters...everything about it was just so FRESH. AND SOMEHOW THEY GOT THREE SEASONS OUT IN ONE YEAR, YET IT’S STILL AMAZING??? If that’s not downright kick-ass inspiring, I don’t know what to tell you.
Gravity Falls (2012–2016) — Two words: Grunkle Stan. That’s it. Which then leads me into...
The Owl House (2020–) — Featuring Grunkle Stan’s soulmate, Eda the Owl Lady, as well as her witch apprentice and surrogate daughter Luz Noceda, who really just speaks to me on so many freaking levels. To be honest, everything about the show does—I am fully well aware that I’m a weirdo, and unfortunately I have also gotten some shit for it when I was younger. I was that kid who stayed by themselves most of the time, lost in their world, and while I was fine with that, I still wished I had people outside my immediately family that I could be weird around. But that was ten years ago—now I’ve finally found my people, and they are every bit the super nerdy weirdos that I am. We hyperfixate together, even if we have different tastes/fandoms, and we always have each other’s back no matter what. They helped me to embrace my weirdness, and I feel The Owl House definitely reflects that part of my life. (The LGBT representation is also a major plus—I adore Lumity with my heart and soul ;;V;;)
Hilda (2018–2021) — This show is like a warm fuzzy blanket, and it makes my inner Scandinavian/Norse mythology heart squeal in delight. (If you haven’t yet, PLEASE GO WATCH IT.)

Graphic novel is a stupid term that often encompasses things that are not novels, but I used it as a blanket term for anything comics I read that were bound rather than stapled. Minis are shorter works, stapled, and generally self-published by the artist, or done by a small press like Shortbox or Youth in Decline. I was totally lazy about crediting creators on series because my actual list for that is a grid, keeping track of each issue. Similarly, when listing creators on trades, I tended to only list writer and artist which is enough for some books, but sometimes there are many more, inkers, and colorists and letterers, and maybe I’ll do better next year.
Support your local library, your local comic shop (especially Hub Comics if you’re in the Boston area), and indie comic shows like MICE.

Weekly Blog Post #1 -Goodbye 2018 and Welcome 2019
1/11/2019
Dear Future me,
I’m a bit late starting this (which I have no excuse for), but the gist is that I’ve decided that from now on I’m going to make a blog post every week as a way to document and look back on all the good and possibly not good things happening in my life. There's no formula here, it’s mainly be just a free for all to talk about my week and the things I enjoy.
That being said, This first entry will be a bit different and quite a bit longer than normal, as I reflect back on the recently ended 2018. This year stretched on unusually long as Trumps Politics became a raging dumpster fire threatening a country wide collapse on a weekly basis, and authoritarian began spreading further throughout the rest of the World. For me personally, I
-wrote a 26 page thesis that I will never look at again
-graduated from UC with a Neuroscience degree
-served a term as a research assistant taking care of mice
-worked at then quit my job at Staples
-Got a job at the IRS
-Got suspended from my job at the IRS due to a government shutdown that is still in effect
-started dating for the first time (though no girlfriend as of yet)
-grew even closer to my friends as we typically hung out at least twice a week
-entered a DnD campaign
-Got suspended from playing said DnD campaign
-Discovered I like Sushi
-Went to my first concert since middle school (Panic! at the Disco and Hayley Kiyoko)
-Stayed at a cabin with my friends where we played strip jenga and got lost hiking in the woods for 8 miles in a thunderstorm
-Got a mysterious disease that lasted 2 weeks from said hike
-Grew my hair out then cut 10 inches off and donated it
-My best friend got engaged, My sister went to Sweden, and my brother moved to Toledo
-Watching my puppy Cocoa grow up (though we technically got her late 2017)
And probably a lot more that I can’t remember at the moment. As per usual I spent a lot of 2018 consuming media like the nerd that I am, so I’m going to spend the rest of this far too long entry ranking my favorite things I saw/read in 2018. These will be ranked by pure enjoyment, not overall quality, and aren't meant to be an objective best of list. I just want to talk about things I like. So:
Top 5 Movies
Honorable mention- Hereditary, a fantastic and deeply unsettling film that was one of the most emotionally charged viewing experiences I’ve ever had. It would be high on the list if I had actually watched in 2018, but I only just now watched it and had made the list before hand. Still, one of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen.
5-Venom-Movie was a fucking mess but it was pretty fun. I love the concept of the Symbiotes.
4-A Quiet Place-A movie with almost no sound/verbal dialogue and a great sense of suspense
3-Black Panther-Amazing sense of Style, Amazing Villain, A great Cultural achievement
2-Deadpool 2- Fantastic sense of humor, inventive fights, first big screen lgbt+ superheroes
1-Into the Spiderverse-Best animation I've seen in maybe a decade, Everything about this movie is surprisingly amazing, from the soundtrack to the character designs to the emotional resonance. This Movie can’t come out on DVD fast enough.
Top 5 Cartoons
Honorable Mention -Voltron-Disappointing Finale but 7th season had an amazing Keith/Shiro fight scene and Lotor, arguably one of the best characters in the series.
5-Rick and Morty-Not my favorite season but still smart, rewatchable, and unique episodes.
4-She Ra- Great characters and designs with the Catra/Adora conflict elevating the Series.
3-Bobs Burgers- Consistently good, funny, and relatable, My whole family enjoys it.
2-Steven Universe- Finally getting answers to alien plot, excellent art, plenty of lgbt goodness
1-Hilda-An incredibly inventive new series with a truly unique and empathetic fantasy world, adorable art, a wonderful mother-daughter relationship and some of my new favorite creature designs. The atmosphere this series creates is one I want to live in forever.
Top 5 TV Shows
Honorable Mention- Killing Eve, Like Hereditary I did not watch this until 2019, but I adored Villanelle’s strange psychopathy and the very lesbian tension between her and Eve.
Honorable Mention-The Haunting of the Hill House-Great character building episodes, neat effects, and a great building tension, an underwhelming finale brings it down a bit.
5-Stranger Things-Inferior to the 1st season but still great characters and interesting plot
4-Game of Thrones-Lots of plot contrivances but every episode was still massively entertaining.
3-Good Place-Genuinely great twist with creative ideas and a solid critique of moral philosophy
2-Dirk Gently-Batshit insane, quirky, hilarious, with absolutely amazing characters and writing.
1-Brooklyn 99-One of the best shows on TV, every episode is hilarious and heartfelt, I love every cast member. Ontop of having an amazing sense of humor, B99 is one of the most progressive shows on television, and continually address relevant issues in a tactful and good natured way.
Top 5 Anime
Honorable Mention-Zombieland Saga- a fun show with a creative spin on the idol genre, the heartfelt relations between the characters were a highlight, as was the presence of a trans idol.
5-Aggretsuko-Incredibly relatable with adorable and lovable characters.
4-Mo Dao Zu Shi-Unique setting with a great protagonist and a slow build gay romance
3-Devilman Crybaby-An unforgettable and highly enthralling experience, plus I’m gay for Miko
2-Megalo Box-Probably Deserves to be #1  for its fantastic sense of style, tension, amazingly choreographed fights, lovable protagonist and ‘Antagonist’, and incredible pacing.
1-Reincarnated Slime-This anime is just the ultimate escapist fantasy. Every week I look forward to watching the stupidly op and likable protagonist make friends with everyone he meets, build a peaceful city from scratch, overpower everyone with neat abilities, try his best to avoid conflicts, and comment on how hot everyone around him is. It's the equivalent of playing an RPG and doing every side quest you can to make everyone happy, I love it. It's just very Chill and pretty.
Top 5 Comics
Honorable Mention-Space Battle Lunchtime-Cute lgbt+ characters and fun concept, but short for now
5-Moonstruck-My ideal fantasy world with fun and vibrant fantasy designs and a highly diverse cast of lgbt+ characters, but only just beginning with a lot of room for further character development.
4-Trust-fantastic art and an intriguing setting with a mysterious but interesting plot
3-MotorCity-Stylish protagonist with an adorable girlfriend and an interesting supernatural twist.
2-Saga-Creative and exciting space opera that introduces lots of likable characters and then kills them.
1-The Adventure Zone-My favorite Fantasy Story of all time getting translated into a visual medium. While the first Volume was not quite as good as the Podcast (Though I don’t believe that’s possible anyway), it still had much of the great humor and characters with some lovely art and a condensed story.
Top 5 Web Series
Honorable Mention- Game Grumps-Not sure if I want to count Lets Plays but this channel brings me so much joy. House Party, Doodle Doods, and the 10 Minute Power Hours were highlights.
5-Monster Pop-Great colorful character designs and complex character conflicts with ample lgbt+ content
4-Buzzfeed Unsolved-very interesting and weird events with hilarious commentary, the hosts have a great chemistry and play well off each other.
3-Their Story-My favorite lesbians, stylish, cute, and fun, wish it updated more often.
2-19 Days-Amazing slow build romances with incredibly fun characters and interactions, Grade A Homoerotic tension.
1-Ava's Demon-Some of my favorite art and character designs in any Media, The plot is amazing and fairly unpredictable, I feel incredibly excited every time I see it has updated.
Well that’s all for now. Next time will be my favorite ships of 2018, as their were some interesting couples this year.

When did you get into the series? How did you find out about it? When I was really young (can’t remember an exact age), I started playing Ocarina of Time. Since then it’s been one of my favourite video game series’.
If you could develop the next Zelda game, what would it be like? I’d love to see a game like BotW but you can play as Zelda, really
What spin-off game would you like to see? (ex - Sports game, Party game, Racing game, etc.) I’m with greenie on the Zelda in Mario Kart thing
What cross-over game would you like to see with Legend of Zelda? (ex Legend of Zelda + Mario) I’d love to see Zelda + Metroid just to see how badly it would turn out
What character would you put in Hyrule Warriors that isn’t already in the game? The Champions from BotW (Both old and new)
If you could live in Hyrule, where would you live? What would you do for a living? (Be a little more imaginative than just “I wanna be the hero” or “I would be the princess of Hyrule”)
I’d definitely be super adamant about joining the Hylian Guard. I wanna be a modern cop so I’d probably wanna be a medieval cop.
We’ve sort of seen the beginnings of Hyrule - What do you think the endings would be?
I’d love to see an ending that is a convergence of the three timelines with Hylia herself destroying Ganon for good
If you only had 3 days to live in Termina, what would you do? Assume you are not playing the role of Link.
Probably leave? Seems like the sensible thing to do.
Which piece of the Tri-Force do you think best represents yourself? Courage, 100%
Except for when it comes to girls, cause goddamn am I socially awkward
Draw yourself as a character from Hyrule (Don’t just put yourself in Link’s clothes, think about what the average citizens wear)
I can’t draw ;~;
If you had the full Tri-Force, what would you do with it? Wish for eternal peace and the destruction of Ganondorf
If you turned into a wolf or other form of beast/animal in the Twilight, what would you look like? Feel free to draw it.
I’d probably be a Gazelle or something, considering I’m fast AF but that’s about it, really
What’s one thing that you want to see the most from the series? (ex - Remake of your favourite game, a new style of game, new TV show or comic, etc.)
Zelda playability please Nintendo
What DLC pack would you make for Hyrule Warriors that hasn’t already been done?
Like I said above, the champions from BotW
What do you think a Legend of Hilda game would be like? Probably the opposite of Legend of Zelda (badumtss)
What character(s) or event would you like to see more backstory on?
Majoraaaaaaaaa
What’s your favourite part of Legend of Zelda games? (ex - Getting all the collectibles, exploring, doing dungeons, fighting bosses, story, etc.)
One hundred percenting the games has always been my favourite. Searching for all of the little things is so fulfilling, especially when that completion screen says 100%, and it basically includes every aspect of the game with it, so double win
If you could only play one Legend of Zelda game for the rest of your life, which one would it be? Breath of the Wild, probably
Are there any Figma, Nendoroids, World of Nintendo figures you’d want to see?
I’d love to see a figma of the BotW Link and Zelda that didn’t look like the mannequin looking Link and Zelda amiibos.
Are there any future Zelda games you’d like to see?
I’ll probably be satisfied with whatever Nintendo’s got in store for us.

Sunday, October 22nd, 2017
Hello there. My name is Sterling, which you may very well know already. I could bore you with details about me but I'd really prefer not to.
On this day (which is yesterday at the time of writing), I began my third consecutive attempt to do a Nuzlocke Run of Pokemon Blue. I intend to play through every generation of Pokemon in chronological order, using original versions (so no remakes; for the original two generations I will be using the virtual console, and for the latter five I will be playing the original cartridges.) I further intend to begin documenting this quest using this site as a sort of diary, which will be updated whenever the game I am nuzlocking is played, which will probably be daily for a while, but then I might get a Switch, or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon might come out, and it might become less than daily.
To start out with, let's quickly go over a few things in terms of background.
The Pokemon series started with the release of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green in Japan, on February 27, 1996, 19 months before I was born. The games were RPGs based on the childhood play of creator Satoshi Tajiri, who as a young boy in Machida, Japan, would collect beetles and have them fight other kids' captured insects. With 151 unique creatures to collect, trade, battle and love, from typical adorable cats and dogs to awe inspiring kaiju, to creepy-cute moths and bees and strange animated plant monsters, and things even weirder than that, the franchise had something for everyone. It made a huge splash in Japan, and when it was rereleased in the United States, it was accompanied by an animated show aimed at children and a trading card game, all of which connected like a plug into the outlets in the minds of children all over the world. It became a global phenomenon practically overnight, with scores of magical monsters becoming household names, and the concepts becoming core for game design. The series is still going, and while nothing since the first generation has become quite so culturally pervasive, the franchise is a well known and renowned one all the same. Every few years new games come along, with a new setting, a new story, and a set of new Pokemon hovering around 100. In seven "generations" (Red/Green/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/Crystal, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, Black/White/Black 2/White 2, X/Y, Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon), the number 151 has become 804 (and counting, since Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon aren't out yet and may very well have a few new Pokemon.)
You probably know most of that already, but it is important to lay this kind of groundwork so that nobody is confused.
A Nuzlocke Challenge is a specific sort of self-imposed challenge that some players of Pokemon games use to combat the game's otherwise relatively low difficulty outside of PvP. It gets its name from a webcomic that originally simply called the challenge "Pokemon Hard Mode", but featured a Nuzleaf who was named after John Locke from LOST, who became a memetic character inside and outside of the comic, and the challenge is now named for that Nuzleaf. (If you're unfamiliar, Nuzleaf is a grass type Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, that looks kind of like Pinocchio and evolves from an acorn and into a tengu. LOST was a bad show by the guy who for some reason got put in charge of both Star Trek AND Star Wars afterwards.)
The original Nuzlocke Challenge used the following rules:
1. You may only capture the first Pokemeon you see in each area. 2. Any Pokemon that faints is permanently dead, and can never be used again.
Later players of Nuzlockes have modified and expanded those rules, and today, many rulesets exist. Some mitigate the difficulty of these two rules, some make it harder, and some merely add a new spin to things. But in order to be a Nuzlocke Challenge, these two rules are the bare minimum.
Now that I've given you that background, I'd like to go ahead and list out my own ruleset, which I will be using not just for my playthrough of Blue, but also for all consecutive playthroughs, with the potential for minor tweaks and edits inbetween games and also early on into this first playthrough.
1. I may only capture the first Pokemon I see in each area. 1a. No Ball Clause - No wild encounters count until I have access to Pokeballs. 1b. Duplicate Clause - If the first encounter in an area is a Pokemon I have already caught, and they have not died (even if they have evolved), that encounter can be ignored in favor of the next one. This can be repeated until a unique Pokemon is found. 1c. Shiny Clause - A shiny Pokemon can be caught at any time, if one is encountered in the wild, unless the encounter is scripted. 2. A Pokemon that faints in battle is permanently dead, and can never be used again. A Pokemon that faints outside of battle, such as by poisoning, can be restored to life at a Pokemon Center. 2a. If I ever white out, and my whole team is fainted, it does not matter if I have living Pokemon in the box; my player character is considered dead, and the run has failed. 3. When an important trainer battle occurs, such as one with the rival, a gym leader battle, a battle against an admin of the villainous team, or another battle against an important NPC such as an elite four member or the champion, my party must have exactly as many Pokemon in it as theirs does. 3a. 6 Pokemon team for the Elite Four and Champion challenge at the end. 4. Each Pokemon Center provides only one opportunity for me to heal my Pokemon. When I finish an important battle, I have another chance to heal at the nearest Pokemon Center. I can hold onto this second heal, but I cannot accumulate a third. 4a. Healing outside of Pokemon Centers is infinite, including at home or in strangers' beds. 4b. Struggle Clause - If I run out of PP on all damaging attacks, I am allowed to heal at the nearest Pokemon Center if, and only if, all of my Pokemon are already at full HP.
Those are the major, overarching rules. Other notes include that I will be determining starter randomly when my character has the option unless I have tried and failed with two of them and have not yet tried the third, and that every Pokemon will be nicknamed. A Pokemon nickname cannot be reused for the same species if that Pokemon dies, and a trainer nickname cannot be reused if that trainer dies. (If, on the other hand, I complete Blue with a Pidgey on my team, and I am named John and my Pidgey is named Butts, I can use the name John for my player and the name Butts for a Pidgey I catch in future games, until they die.)
Got all that? Good. Now we can begin.
Well. Actually, first I'm gonna run through what happened on my first two attempts lightning fast.
First attempt - Player name was Red. Bulbasaur, named Metreedon, was my starter. Caught a Rattata, named it Mickey; it died. Caught a Nidoran (Female), named her Lexi. Caught a second Rattata, named it Minnie, it also died. Reached Level 8 with Metreedon and Lexi, and then fought the second rival battle. Was sorely beaten by Blue's Pidgey.
Second attempt - Player name was Satoshi. Charmander, named Sally, was my starter. Caught a Rattata, named it Remy. Caught a Pidgey, named it... I can't actually recall. Progressed all the way to Mt. Moon, beating Brock along the way. Was done in by the first encounter with a Team Rocket Grunt in Mt. Moon, and his illegally evolved Level 16 Raticate.
NOW we can begin!!
(A note: between that writing above and this writing below, I slept and then woke up and then went to work and then worked and then went home. I did not play any Pokemon Blue on the 23rd, but I will today, the 24th. Probably.)
I began my Pokemon journey, naming my character "Gary" and my rival "Ash", at the suggestion of the game. I can't help but feel as though Red being the far and above more popular version was an intentional move on Game Freak's part, given that these names are reversed both in Pokemon Red, and in the English translation of the anime. (I have not played the Japanese versions, but it is my understanding that a similar switch happens with the names Satoshi and Shigeru.) The Blue/Red suggestion switch is a little less notable, since that's a simple matter of the game you're playing. That said, while some of the names have turned out a little cringey ("Hilbert" and "Hilda" in particular), I think the "canon names" changing from depending on your game version to depending on your character's gender starting in the third generation was a good move.
Moving on, I go through the typical motions; I grab my Potion from the PC, I walk into the left-hand square of grass north of Pallet Town, get stopped by Oak and brought to the lab. There, I pick my starter, who, given that I've already rolled a Bulbasaur (using a random number generator) and a Charmander (using a physical six-sided die), I decide to be Squirtle. I name my Squirtle "Shelley", since gender doesn't exist yet and I can do whatever I like. (Not that gender ever really exists.) Squirtle is my favorite of the three starters in this generation, with Wartortle being my preference of the family, so I'm excited to use Shelley. This, of course, counts as my Pokemon for Pallet Town.
My rival battle in the lab is the most clutch it's been, for some reason, which is odd given that I'm now armed with the most useful statistic-affecting move alloted to the starting movesets of the three starters in this game, Tail Whip. I am reduced to one health, very nearly a game-ender, so I use my potion on the chance that my foe will use Tackle instead of Growl (Bulbasaur is faster than Squirtle here.) I win the battle with full health, but one less Potion, which are at a dreadful premium until Pewter City.
I journey north to Viridian, taking the opportunity to grind in the grass a bit. I get the potion from the advertiser, the parcel from the mart, and then head back south, delivering it to Oak. I now have a PokeDex, but more importantly, since I'm definitely not filling that out, the PokeMart in Viridian will now sell me some PokeBalls.  I head North yet again, purchase five, and head south, catching a Rattata in Route 1 along the way. I name my Rattata Lemmy. I could talk about what made me use that name, but I think I will leave that a mystery. The first person to correctly guess what my name scheme is for this run through (before it ends) will get... a Pokemon from the run traded to them in Sun or Moon? Hidden Abilities, yo.
I left off the game grinding back and forth in Route 1, taking maximum advantage of the unlimited healing that my mother provides. This is not a privilege I'll have forever (although I will probably have it back when I get Fly?), especially since, as I recall, there is a temporary point of no return on the other side of Mt. Moon, which, even if Mt. Moon weren't inhospitable to those who are already desperately in need of healing, would make it impossible to take advantage of my mother's generosity.
Current team is Shelley the Squirtle, Level 8, from Pallet Town; and Lemmy the Rattata, Level 6, from Route 1.
Riveting, I know.
See y'all for the next entry.

So uhhh,,, its been a while!
I’m gonna be changing up how I post these for a while, gonna be posting pages once they’re done rather than sticking to a strick schedule - this is just to help me not have the same like pressure of doing it, and as well it helps with my much-less-time caused by school and stuff
But anyways, we progressing the story! Hilda is now attempting to convince Tildy - the real question is how effective is that gonna be?
Anyways, enjoy!!!

“Have you ever wondered what happened to the other Hilda, the first one, before her untimely fate? What her story is? Wonder no more, as we explore the story of Hilda’s Lost Future”
*breathes in deeply* sO-. We have a lot to unpack here uh. I’m going to be starting a mini comic on a story idea I had, following the Future Hilda (the one in the Stone Forest outfit, aka angst outfit) in The Fifty Year Night. AND HERE’S THE TITLE PAGE FOR IT :D
I can’t guarentee how fast updates will come out, especially depending on if I do a page per post or more than 1 page per post (which I’ll probably figure out when I get to posting jhasdhjd). And like.... It’s a lot to draw ^^’‘. I’m gonna fully illustrate them all (like this) and try and do my best with backgroudns and perspectives etc. So uh. It’ll probably take me a bit to get used to it, but I will try my best!
I’ve never done a ‘comic’ of sorts before, but I’ve always wanted to and gosh I’m really excited to!!! It wasn’t even supposed to be one originally, I had a small idea which I was gonna doodle out and gosh it grew and now here we are XD
Anyways I won’t ramble any longer, but stay tooned! I hope it’ll be a story you all enjoy :D!

Eyyy here’s the second page! Things are starting out and this is setting the stage for the rest of the pages (mostly probably) - While the first one was more of a brief overview/narration, this is more at normal pace and in their ‘present’/perspective.
So uh, hopefully it’s good!
I tried to bit a lil more diverse with the panelling - I don’t wanna be too boring nor too over the top/hard to follow, so its gonna take some time for me to find a good flow probably. but I think I’m getting the hang of it and drawing Hilda! :D
Also got to draw Alfur closer up in this one and can I just say I love drawing his poofy hair and his ears, theyre fun to emote with AJHSDHJDSA
So yee hope it’s alright!

Hey... uhhh. I don’t wanna overstep or anything. You can totally say “I’ll think about it” or “no” but I would love to help you with your comic.
Halloooo, I feel honoured honestly and I really appreciate the offer, but I’m okay to work on it solo. Honestly thank you, it’s really heartwarming to hear someone like it enough to offer help, so I feel bad for saying no ^^’‘
Again, thank you for the offer, but I’m alrighty to work on it by myself for now thanks :D
