Seiyuu Update

It is announced yesterday that four SideM seiyuu are tested positive for COVID-19 according to some sources:

- Takeaki Masuyama (Shinsoku Ikkon's Suzaku Akai) took a polymerase chain reaction (PCR test) on Tuesday after being informed that he had a close contact with a person with COVID-19 at work. He is tested positive on Thursday and has since been recuperating at home. Ken Production, his agency, confirmed that it is taking appropriate measures. - Hiroshi Watanabe (High×Joker's Natsuki Sakaki) similarly took a PCR test due to a possible close contact with a person with COVID-19. His agency stated that he will undergo treatment and followup observations under the guidance from health centers and medical institutions. - Shunya Hiruma (F-LAGS' Kazuki Tsukumo) took a PCR test on August 14 that came back negative, and he had no fever or other symptoms at the time. However, he took another test on Tuesday that came back positive, and is currently recuperating at home. - Tomohito Takatsuka (Beit's Minori Watanabe) took a PCR test on Tuesday after being notified of a probable close contact with someone with COVID-19. While awaiting the results at home, he developed a fever on Thursday. He received the positive test result on Friday, and is now undergoing treatment.

Eden doesn't like using his UM, especially on other people. Since he tends to lose track of time. And since his UM is time sensitive, he would hate for something bad to happen due to the effects of his UM reversing at an inconvenient time

Background

Eden was born the only child of two wealthy parents. Though he had everything he needed at a moment's notice, his parents raised him to be a kind boy. He was homeschooled growing up so he didn't have many friends, but this just made him closer to his parents. Eden believed his life was perfect, but that changed when he was 8 the day his mother died. The shock of losing his mom caused Eden to lose the light in his eyes. He was shyer and more hesitant to do anything. While going through this time in his life, he was by his father's side, doing whatever he wanted in hopes it'll make him happy, even if Eden himself wasn't happy

This started Eden's mindset of wanting to be a people pleaser. He kept that mindset even after his father remarried. Eden was excited to have other boys his age to play with. But that excitement quickly disappeared when he saw how mean and foul his stepbrothers were. But Eden didn't let their view on him stop him from trying to become closer to them. He'd try to do nice things for his stepbrothers but he was still met with the same treatment

The divide between Eden and his stepbrothers only grew the older they got. Eden became the golden child and the one that was favored by both his father and stepmother. This caused his stepbrothers to become jealous of him. When he got into Royal Sword Academy, he was convinced that he would never be able to form a good relationship with his stepbrothers. But he still treated them with kindness whenever he got to see them during holidays and breaks. He'd text them though he rarely gets responses

Upon entering RSA, Eden became really popular due to his looks and kind heart. He finally got a social media account. He started posting videos of him singing which gave him a pretty big following on social media.

In his second year at RSA, Eden was able to make a breakthrough with Adrian. They began to form a good relationship with each other, which is what Eden wanted for years

But his second year wasn't all good. RSA was visited by an all-girls school for a 2 week-long assignment on how to act like a gentleman. The girl he was partnered with was very pushy and touchy. She constantly made advances on him, it started as flirty touches that Eden would brush off, but it slowly started turning into something more. She tried kissing and touching Eden in ways that made him uncomfortable. When Eden tried telling her he was uncomfortable, she stopped, only to continue a while later. When the 2 weeks were almost up, the girl made one last advance which caused Eden to snap. He yelled at her that he was tired of feeling uncomfortable and unsafe when he was around her. Eden snapping caused him and the girl to receive a failing grade. Some people viewed him negatively and thought he could've handled the situation better and politely told the girl to stop, even though Eden had already tried that several times. This event caused Eden to become wary of physical affection and develop a fear that people won't listen if he says no

Notable Relationships

Damien Marwood: Eden's relationship with Damien is the most strained. Damien has made it clear that he does not like Eden numerous times. But the more Damien insists that he doesn't like him, the more Eden tries to get on friendlier terms with him. Eden tries to do nice things for Damien, such as making him tea or giving him snacks, but he is yet to make a breakthrough with him. Though Damien doesn't express it, his hate for Eden has lessened over the years. He still dislikes Eden, but not as much as he did when he was a kid. He is watching over him secretly, as he feels like it's his duty as technically the oldest kid in the family. Damien got the girl who harassed Eden in his 2nd year expelled after he heard about what she did. Eden calls Damien "Dami"

Adrian Marwood: Though Eden and Adrian's relationship started out similar to how Eden and Damien's relationship was, Adrian learned to let things go. Though it took years, Adrian realized that hating Eden was pointless. When they got on friendly terms with each other, they realized they had a lot in common. They spend as much time together as possible when they're both home for break in order to try and get closer. Adrian turned to Eden when he realized he liked Trey and Eden encouraged him to pursue him. Though Eden texts both of his stepbrothers during the school year, Eden usually texts Adrian more and asks him for updates on how he and Damien are doing since he knows Adrian is more open to talking than Damien is. Eden calls Adrian "Adri"

Neige LeBlance: Neige is one of Eden's closest friends. They first met when Eden showed Neige around campus as sort of a mentor. The two were big fans of each other. Eden admired Neige's acting skills and Neige admired Eden's singing skills. The two became closer over time and often appear on each other's social medias. The two developed a mutual crush on each other the more they hung out. And though they haven't outright confessed to each other, they often act like a couple. They do couple things together and still call each other a good friend. But that's because they don't know how to approach the subject. People on social media often post about the two of them and speculate if they're dating. Neige calls Eden "Songbird" due to how pleasant his singing is and how much he sings

Che'nya: Che'nya was the first friend Eden made at RSA. Because Eden had never been to an actual school before RSA, he was fairly nervous when it came to talking to other people his age. But Che'nya was friendly towards him right away. It was comforting and ever since then, Eden has been attached to him. Over time, Eden developed a crush on him. Eden hasn't told Che'nya anything, but he already knows. Che'nya makes Eden feel comfortable and he enjoys the amount of chaos he brings into his life. Sometimes, Eden asks Che'nya to check on his brothers whenever he goes to sneak onto NRC campus. Che'nya calls Eden "Kitty" or "Kitten" because Eden was small and timid when he first met him, which reminded him of a kitten

Neige and Che'nya know that Eden has a crush on the other as well as themself, but don't consider the other competition. They often talk about Eden when they hang out with each other (good things of course)

A: He's a tsundere old man. I honestly envied him for being able to say the things he thought out loud... But I could sympathize with him when he's worried about what he said afterwards.

A: Maybe a black fairy of "relaxation?" I want to be able to laugh and have fun at all times.

A: I want to have the ability to control time, to make the bad things happen quick and in a flash and the good things last forever. I also want to get as much sleep as I can get.

Q1. Please tell us what you think about the character you voiced.

A: Caprice has really cute and fascinating appearance and gestures that you just can't leave him alone. But deep inside, he carried a memory that he couldn't forget. I also got the impression that he's just like two sides of the same coin: his shy and withdrawn self, and his more active and sometimes reckless side. When I read the script, I was immediately drawn into the world of the story and got so engrossed while flipping through the pages. The way Caprice's feelings gradually changed as he interacted with the people around him really left a strong impression on me. I played the role to the best of my ability, keeping close to Caprice's feelings and cherishing his delicate thoughts. I'm very grateful to be able to voice a character like Caprice.

Q2. If you were to become a black fairy yourself, what kind of black fairy (of emotions) do you think you would be?

A: A black fairy of appetite since I can't move when I'm hungry.

Q3. If you could have just one dream come true, what would it be?

A: I wish to eliminate all the sorrow and suffering from this world.

Q1. Please tell us what you think about the character you voiced.

A: He has this dynamic that was different from the usual relationship between a master and a butler, where you could see a hierarchical relationship between them, but I enjoyed all the conversations that were not confined to that. I tried to voice Fidel while thinking about how rude the things he said, just like how he'd talk to a master so politely, but is actually looking down on them (laughs). I personally thought his confident self who's capable of anything, and his more kind and helping side are part of his charms.

Q2. If you were to become a black fairy yourself, what kind of black fairy (of emotions) do you think you would be?

A: I don't really have a specific reason for it, but I might be a black fairy of jealousy lol.

Q3. If you could have just one dream come true, what would it be?

A: I want to be able to speak various foreign languages.

A: I think the gap between the way he looks down on others because he's too capable and the way he can be kind sometimes is one of his charms. As you follow the story, I hope everyone will be able to discover the deeper side of his charm, and I hope we'll get to enjoy it together.

A: I personally think of myself as a boring person, but Chell knows how to have a lot of fun and enjoyment in life. I admire the contrast in the way we live. He's a man of great tastes, like a fine wine that has matured over the years.

Q2. If you were to become a black fairy yourself, what kind of black fairy (of emotions) do you think you would be?

A: I'm not sure if this can be described as an emotion, but maybe something like "bystander," I guess. Someone who finds it comfortable to just look at what's happening in front of them without saying or doing anything.

Q3. If you could have just one dream come true, what would it be?

A: I want a body that can eat as many sweets as I want without gaining weight or getting cavities

General note: the word “azatoi” pops up a few times, and it can mean “calculating” or “cunning”, how an action is done on purpose so that it’s attractive. It has other connotations and to fit more into the context it’s like Ra*bits is nailing the definition of cuteness whether or not they’re doing it on purpose (yes, their actions may be natural but it’s so cute it seems calculated kind of thing, which is just my interpretation. Yuki Yonai (VA of Nazuna Nito)

Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression on the songs when you first listened to them.

Yonai: The singers in the demo tape were so good that I couldn’t grasp the image of the song (laugh). But I could tell immediately that these are Ra*bits’ songs—their aura is brought out properly. That’s why I was really looking forward to the recording.

Q: Then how did the actual recording go?

Yonai: Ra*bits pushes forward their cuteness after all, so I hope I could bring out the cuteness, so cute as if it was calculated, to the front and deliver it to you (laugh). I hope I can show you in our singing their hard work they’ve put in in their own way. I think the cheerfulness in Love Rabits Party!! is more obvious, but even in Hoppin’ Season♪, Ra*bits’ motto is still “gleefully, cutely”. So I wanted to express the cuteness and cheerfulness that are different from usual in the midst of the quietness of the song. This song is the most rejuvenating so far! We already have “cute” and “rejuvenating”, so I hope we can have “cool” to follow (laugh). I mean, depending on the growth of the juniors, the unit can have coolness as their selling point in the future! Ra*bits have endless possibilities after all. I think you can look forward to the upcoming songs even more now.

Q: Please tell us the appeal of each song.

Yonai: I really like the bass line that accompanies the line “Even on the days we’ve been distressed, stamping round and round” in Hoppin’ Season♪! (laugh) The sound “doo-doo-doot♪ doo-doo-doot♪” makes it super fun, doesn’t it? I got into the mood while singing it. In terms of lyrics, it would be the part where Mitsuru sings after that, “We’re still growing rabbits, true,” and all the way until the end, I suppose. While they are weak, they try with all their might, and they would be all, “Let’s do our best together!” All of that define Ra*bits, and it’s wonderful. Love Rabits Party!! has lyrics with mature words in it, which is a bit rare coming from Ra*bits. For example, “night” and “We’ll put you in a trance.” The way Ra*bits members sing these lines would be one of the appeals of the song, I think. I hope we can deliver to you Ra*bits that have matured slightly. From my point of view, I find it cute how they try with all their might to grow up. It’s so cute and high-spirited—it’s a great song! That’s another song added to my list of favorites.

Q: Ensemble Stars has been extending its reach through appearances in various kinds of media. Could you promote the series to the readers who have not yet been exposed to it?

Yonai: They’ve powered up even more since the first series, so these are songs that are sung by slightly stronger Ra*bits. I hope you can see their growth and give them support from now on too. I hope this CD will be able to cheer you up.

Tomoya Kohsaka (VA of Hajime Shino)

Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression on the songs when you first listened to them.

Kohsaka: The moment I heard Hoppin’ Season♪, the first thing that came into my mind was how it illustrates Main Story chapter 39. I saw the lyrics picture the worn-out Ra*bits in chapter 39, so I thought it was going to be difficult. As for the other song, my impression was, “Ra*bits isn’t just being cute—they’re putting on airs!” (laugh) I hope we could show you Ra*bits that is different from usual.

Q: Then how did the actual recording go?

Kohsaka: In the Main Story, Ra*bits experienced failure in chapter 39 and after that was able to win and advance to the next round in DDD, the final arc. They used that frustration as a stepping stone, and that feeling is what I think is packed in Hoppin’ Season♪. It’s the feeling of “even if it’s frustrating, we’re going to try our best together with everyone,” and I also thought about how Hajime-kun would have felt. I keep that in mind and sang. In the part “We’re still growing rabbits, true,” I felt there is a sense of sadness condensed in there. Of course, it’s also an optimistic song, but Ra*bits isn’t smiling cutely like they usually do—through their singing they’re also telling you there are hard times too. I want all of you to try thinking about the Main Story while listening to this song. To be honest, I cried! As for Love Rabits Party!!, when I just looked at the lyrics, I thought, “Is the usually cute Ra*bits reverting to wild…!?” Perhaps, they’re leaning towards UNDEAD. But, turns out it was nothing like that at all (laugh). It’s as cute as ever! In addition, the key is quite high, so I also had a hard time (bitter laugh). Hajime-kun has a singing of an angel’s, so I’m trying my best! According to Nii-chan, Hajime-kun is apparently “already cute as he is” and “isn’t calculating.” His cuteness seems calculated, but the person himself doesn’t mean to—he’s oblivious about it! I always think it’s hard to create cuteness that isn’t cultivated.

Q: Please tell us the appeal of each song.

Kohsaka: Lyrics that left an impression in me would be the bridge in Hoppin’ Season♪. I think it’s the core of the song. Other than that, words that often pop up such as “bonds”, “go forward”, and “together as one” are very Ra*bits, I thought. As for Love Rabits Party!!, it gave me a strong impression that it was just difficult to sing. But occasionally with lines such as “Our charm and appeal / Is a little bit unique” and “Escorting you with a pounding heart,” it felt a bit mature or manly, which is not the usual Ra*bits. These parts left such a deep impression in me that I could misunderstand the direction of the song (laugh). I believe both songs are finishing up into something that is very Ra*bits. Also, there are parts where Hajime-kun is singing together with his old friend, Tomoya-kun, so it made me really happy! I’d like you to pay attention to that part too.

Q: Ensemble Stars has been extending its reach through appearances in various kinds of media. Could you promote the series to the readers who have not yet been exposed to it?

Kohsaka: Ra*bits’ charm is their good relationship, and cuteness! It’s something I can’t leave out and it hasn’t changed since the beginning. About Hajime-kun, despite his appearance he is doing his utmost best, which makes you want to protect him. That aspect of him is formidable. I mean, he’s a boy who’s happy being able to buy bean sprouts and eggs, you know? (laugh) Also, in recent stories, there’s a scene that shows how everyone loves him, and [the creators might’ve added] the little sister(?) attribute in him. I’d like to see his interaction with other characters as well. As for recent ones, I like his interaction with Tori-kun in “Scout! Best Shot”! Basically I see Hajime-kun as my son (laugh)! In that way, I think you’ll be able to feel his cuteness, admirable attitude, honesty, and how he’s slightly lacking in confidence.

Q: Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the release!

Kohsaka: Thanks to all of you, we’re able to release the second CD series. Both became something very Ra*bits. A year ago, when I had the opportunity to write the character commentary, I said, “Please make Hajime-kun happy with the power that all of you have,” but he is also loved by other characters, and there is support from all of you. Really, Hajime-kun right now seems blessed, and it makes me happy. I hope you can give that Hajime-kun your support from now on too.

Shunya Hiruma (VA of Tomoya Mashiro)

Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression on the songs when you first listened to them.

Hiruma: When I listened to Hoppin’ Season♪, I thought it’s very cheerful and the lyrics are optimistic. It has a message that says even if you’re taking very small steps, it will be okay as long as you’re with everyone—it’s a very good song. The melody is pop too, and it’s not just about the cuteness of Ra*bits that we know up until now, which is wonderful. I personally love the melody as well. I think it can ease and lift up your mood and body. As for Love Rabits Party!!, it’s nothing else but fun! The party feel is great, and anyhow I wanted to make it cheerful and fun. As expected from a “party”, it makes you go high (laugh). But that’s the good thing about it!

Q: Then how did the actual recording go?

Hiruma: Overall, Hoppin’ Season♪ is a song about being optimistic together with everyone. But within that, there’s Tomoya-kun’s solo, “No matter how much it hurts, no matter how frustrating it is.” In that part I think he’s shouldering that kind of feeling so I kept in mind to sing emotionally. As for Love Rabits Party!!, I made sure to make the chorus fun above all. When I read the lyrics in the chorus, “La la Beats, Love Ra*bits,” I thought the lyricist is a genius! (laugh) I’m sure those who listen to the song will also find this part catchy. The background vocals too, during the recording I imagined them making a racket. But if you ask me, I’d say Tomoya-kun is someone who would scold others instead, so I kept in mind not to overdo it. As for what kind of feeling I had while singing, since Mitsuru goes like “whoosh!”, it’s like I’m catching up from behind thinking, “Mitsuru started dashing!”. Despite everything, I’m trying to have fun, bursting out in the open but keeping it on this vague borderline so not to lose Tomoya-kun’s character (laugh).

Q: Please tell us the appeal of each song.

Hiruma: I suppose it’s also in the title, but I really like the “Hoppin’” in “Hoppin’ Heart.” You can feel the rhythm—it’s just so fun! Although Mitsuru sings that line, it’s fitting, don’t you think? When I looked at the lyrics assignment, I agreed that it’s totally Mitsuru’s line. I think the lyrics assignment in this series really fits the characters, so I’d like you to look forward to that. As for Love Rabits Party!!, I love it as a whole from the beginning to the end. From the beginning it makes you go, “Oh!” and it really pulls you in. Also, it’s a song with lyrics that was written with girls in mind. For example, the lines “Because we’ll put you in a trance” or “We want to make this an extraordinary evening” made me go, “Wow, Tomoya-kun!?” (laugh) As for Hoppin’ Season♪, if you ask me, it’s a song for [Ra*bits themselves], but I think the other song is one for girls where you say to them, “Let’s have fun together!”.

Q: Ensemble Stars has been extending its reach through appearances in various kinds of media. Could you promote the series to the readers who have not yet been exposed to it?

Hiruma: Ra*bits is a unit full of newbies, so among the other amazing units, they’re very admirable in the way “we are still tiny buds, but we are doing our best.” Which is charming, in my opinion. Of course, they are cute, but these cute kids are mingling with the cool people and they try to keep up with them and don’t intend to lose to them. I think that’s one good thing about Ra*bits. Tomoya-kun is the most normal boy. Mitsuru is very energetic, Hajime is very cute although he’s timid, and there’s Nii-chan who is just amazing, period. Tomoya is in the same group as those three, so I hope you won’t forget him (laugh). I’ve said this in the previous interview, but it’s hard to act “normally”. Even with directions and such, when I’m told to “act normally,” it made me think, “what is ‘normal’!?” (laugh) That said, while Tomoya-kun says “I hate being ordinary!” I don’t think he’s ordinary. It’s just that there’s a lot of characters around him who are out of the ordinary [1]! (laugh) In contrast, I suppose he’s attracted to that, and Tomoya-kun is gradually being influenced. I hope you can enjoy that development. He’s getting dragged around by Wataru Hibiki and follows Hokuto-senpai’s back so straightforwardly—you can feel that he’s full of potential. Maybe he will become a handsome third-year who takes over a mix of Hokuto-senpai and Hibiki-senpai’s wills (laugh). Ra*bits is a unit that lets you have fun imagining the future!

Hiruma: The previous series may have given you the impression that it’s incredible cute, with a marching song and all. But this time, you’ll find out that they can also sing these kinds of songs. While the songs are still very Ra*bits, there is slight sexiness to them and there are English lyrics as well. They’re songs that show a new side to them, so I hope you will listen to the previews and look forward to the release. Please listen to Ra*bits that have matured since last time.

Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression on the songs when you first listened to them.

Ikeda: My first impression was that these songs are as cute as ever. The previous songs are fancy and cute, but this time it’s just as fancy and they’re cute songs that are pop. But I guess the directions are different. Last time there’s a marching song, but Love Rabits Party!! in this series feels like a ska band. Hoppin’ Season♪ is pop-ish, and I feel that it selected cuteness that can be expressed as pop genre. Both of them have a cute image, but their balance is something peculiar and I believe they’re going to turn out great.

Q: Then how did the actual recording go?

Ikeda: At any rate I had to make it adorable and strategically cute! (laugh) Previously, for the first time in my life I received a certain direction. I was told by the staff, “Ra*bits is a newbie unit, so sing it more badly” (laugh). At that time it slightly became a hot topic where people were saying, “So you’re singing it badly!?”, and the second series will emphasize that refreshing aspect. Although, Mitsuru supposedly has grown since last time, so I sang on the level where you can think, “I guess he became better, slightly…?” (laugh) I hope when you compare them, you can see that they have cast off their status as a beginner unit.

Q: Please tell us the appeal of each song.

Ikeda: Before the last chorus in Hoppin’ Season♪, there’s a bit that gradually builds up from “While we’re puzzled, while we’re stumbling.” I feel that the build up from the quietness into the climatic chorus expresses Ra*bits’ growth, so it was super fun to sing. As for Love Rabits Party!!, everything in the lyrics are super cute phrases that I had never sung before (laugh). A lot of the lyrics left an impression in me, but in the first chorus there’s a line where Mitsuru sings, “We’ll go diving deep into your eyes!!” and it made me think, “This part is somehow amazing…!” (laugh) This is his solo part, so I think it’s easy to spot even in the CD as well. It packs Mitsuru’s character, a growth, and pictures a boy who pushes himself beyond his limit or something along that line. In this song, I put cheerfulness out in the front for the background vocals, but for the main vocal, I thought about how Mitsuru would consider the way he handles the lyrics. Although, Mitsuru is basically cunningly attractive and so stupid that one may think, “Are you okay?” (laugh). But the boy himself is doing this seriously. I’d like to emphasize that kind of purity and naivety of his and act it out. I intend to give an act so that everyone can think of him as cute, while as Mitsuru’s fan I’ll give him love, praising how cute he is (laugh).

Q: Ensemble Stars has been extending its reach through appearances in various kinds of media. Could you promote the series to the readers who have not yet been exposed to it?

Ikeda: There’s a lot of characters in Ensemble Stars!, but everyone is unique and it’s a piece of work where one uniqueness won’t negate another, so I think you’ll definitely be able to find at least one character you’ll like. I’m not being a parent who is partial, but Mitsuru is the cutest among them! To begin with, he is an idiot who is a natural airhead, and he’s so full of energy and is lively. But he would sometimes show a listless expression. I think that part of him is unbearably cute. I hope you will be able to understand such cuteness.

Ikeda: Thank you for always enjoying this piece of work. To the characters of the game who are doing their best, this CD is one of their goals as idols, so I hope you can give them your support.

TV Anime Ensemble Stars! 2nd PV Reveals Its OP Song Performed by 37 Male Idols

    At the advance screening event held at the Marunouchi Piccadilly theater in Tokyo on Monday, a 90-second new PV for the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Happy Elements and Cacalia Studio's male idol-featured mobile game Ensemble Stars! was screened for the first time, then the clip was posted on BANDAI NAMCO Arts' official YouTube channel.

  The clip introduces the anime's OP song "Stars' Ensemble!" performed by the special unit "Yumenosaki Dream Stars," which was formed by 37 male idol characters from the franchise's 11 units. The CD single of the song, also including a mini drama by Trickstar to introduce the songs, is set to be released in Japan on August 14, 2019.

  The TV anime Ensemble Stars! is set to premiere on TOKYO MX and other stations in Japan at 22:30 on July 7, 2019 (JST).  In stead of the previously announced Junpaku Yagurashita, Masakazu Hishida, who has worked on another mega-hit male idol franchise KING OF PRISM, is officially announced as the anime's director. Its DVD/Blu-ray is already set to be released on September 26, 2019.
