I am such a big fan of trans Hob!!! I just think he's so neat!

In terms of his body, I think he probably got his top surgery done sometime between 1389 and 1489. My fave idea is that Destruction did it for him but either way, he got it done. He's had additional surgery on his chest since then to improve how it looks and he's very happy with it in modern times. He can't even remember what it was like before the surgery tbh. I think he's definitely experimented with a lot of different treatments over the years but he's very very happy to be on T and thriving with how his body looks these days.

In the olden days if anyone ever found out that he was trans they were generally fairly accepting. His soldier buddies would occasionally find out but no one really cared. Eleanor knew (even before they were married) and they managed to conceive Robyn with the help of a friend. The worst time was when Hob was living on the streets because he couldn't hide things as well as he used to, and if people found out they treated him even worse than before.

He's always sought out other trans and gnc individuals as friends or lovers. For example Jim from the Hob’s Leviathan story - I like to think that Hob helped them on their journey and they developed a very close and loving relationship as time passed. They understood each other and Jim admired Hob greatly for everything he's achieved.

In modern times Hob is a massive trans rights activist in the academic community. People never guess that he's trans so he often has people assume that he's mtf when he comes out to them. He has to laugh and explain that actually he's ftm and he likes being a man very much, thanks. He writes articles for LGBT publications and sometimes gets invited to speak at events, and he's a great point of contact for trans+ students because he knows SO many people and resources. The New Inn is a dedicated safe space for everyone and he WILL beat bigots up with a cricket bat.

He's very into safe binding practices and making sure that the kids are being safe with their bodies. He spent so long strapping his chest up before his first surgery and he remembers how shitty it was for his body - sometimes his ribs still ache, 600 years later. He has stacks of leaflets in his office about 'taking care of your trans body'. He's determined that the world can and will be a better place, and he's going to be part of making that happen.

Coming out to Dream is among the scariest things he's ever done. But Dream just tilts his head and explains that he's known since the very beginning, and that there's nothing to be afraid of. Nothing will ever ever change how he feels about Hob, and he's just honoured to have been told. It's the sweetest response Hob has ever had, and it's very hard not to kiss Dream after that <3

Me reading up more Drayton angst: Sicko going yes... YES...

I'm loving how it's accepted that Drayton def has some kind of trauma from Opelucid. Like GameFreak was really onto something to put the kid from that city into the Polar Biome. Def agree with anons that say him being in there is a form of exposure therapy so he can get over this 'stupid fear' faster

Now I'm just thinking like, imagine he's sick. Down with a bad fever or something. He feels like the sort to not tell people that he's unwell, and with his rep, not seeing him has people chalking it up as him slacking somewhere. So he's just in his room in bed, shivering profusely cause his temp is high but he just feels so cold. It's like there's ice in his veins, it's like that day when it's so cold that he's not sure when he'll feel warm again

Just picturing him delirious, muttering about how it's so cold, so so cold. Nothing he does can warm himself up. Just teary eyed cause he feels awful and cold and he doesn't want to be alone. He wants Iris or his grandpa or his parents. Just anyone to hug him and give him warmth

Maybe his friends worry when they haven't seen him anywhere. Crispin goes to check up on him and he's worried when no one's answering even when he hears the ringing on Drayton's Rotomphone from inside. Maybe one of Drayton's mons got out of their Pokeball cause they heard it, someone who can help their Trainer. The door opens and Crispin sees the huddling, pathetic mess on the bed

Then just caretaking cause Drayton deserves it after all that. He learns that his friends do worry, and that there are people here that care. Maybe Iris finds out somewhere and comes to call him an idiot before hugging him for not telling her he was sick. Just good feels after all that and Drayton doesn't feel cold anymore.

That's canon in my heart please imagine chxmbxk imagine Crispin realizing Drayton is sick and makes him all his fave warm meals, makes him soup, and just stays there w him until Drayton feels better

But y'know it would be cute tho while watching over him and taking care of him, Crispin likes,, rambles abt this show he and Kieran watches, and while Drayton doesn't look too interested bc he's sick, he's actually there listening to every word; knowing Crispin's fave characs and episodes and all that, and Crispin even told him that when he gets better, maybe they can watch it together too

And yeah, soon enough, Drayton finally fell asleep, feeling less colder now, especially w his Torchic and Crispin's own Blaziken, the room feels warmer now too. And Crispin's there sitting besides his bed, insisting that he at least stay until either Drayden or Iris comes back home. Drayton was all "sure whatever" but like, y'know, Dray's actually really grateful that someone's there w him and taking care of him, not calling him a slacker when he's clearly sick

And Crispin's there vibing y'know, happy that at least Drayton is getting the rest he needs. But it's also dope if he's there till night where Iris finally came home, and that's how Iris finally get to thank Crispin personally for watching over her brother. She's like going on how she really thought the students didn't like Drayton and he didn't have much friends, she was scared he'd end up like her when she was younger, but when Drayton started to mention Crispin to her and it made her happy and relieved y'know that he really has friends of his own, it really just took a while for people to understand him

But also Dray waking up to see Iris and Crispin talking and he's suddenly lively again bc ofc, maybe Iris is telling Crispin random embarrassing stories abt him hahaha

let's establish this first though okay; mako and asami are seniors, bolin, opal, wu, and korra are juniors, and kai and jinora are sophomores

okay so they're already all friends, but they didn't go to school together at one point (korra still doesn't go to republic city high bc she's homeschooled by tenzin, rip korra)

wu is a transfer student from ba sing se high and he's basically treated like royalty because his late great aunt hou-ting was the ceo of this huge corrupt company before being assassinated

he joins the krew after the staff (aka principal lin beifong) make mako show him around and they end up becoming reluctant friends; mako drives him around because he is way too scared to be behind the wheel

asami transferred from a private school to republic city high the summer before her senior year after a disagreement with her father; if she's gonna be ceo of future industries one day, she's going to have to learn how to get along with different people

jinora was homeschooled alongside korra and made a whole powerpoint presentation as to why she should be able to go to public school the minute she realized how much fun it could be (courtesy of mako, haha nerds)

though tenzin doesn't agree, pema does and reluctantly does he enroll her (she makes sure to take a selfie with the krew during lunch and texts it to korra who is v v salty but loves them anyway 🙄)

opal had transferred from zaofu after finding out she had an aunt who was the principal of rch, and now she's an established student at the school

now that that's out of the way here's the real good stuff, staff and extracurriculars

mako and jinora are nerds, they take advanced classes together despite jinora being two years behind; their fave is ap lit and the two even take a college class on fire nation culture for extra credit with professor izumi

while jinora volunteers at the library after school (and tutors kai wink wink despite mako's irritation bc that's his surrogate brother and fake little sister together) the hot tempered man holds a job at the community sports center as a coach to younglings in the art of kickboxing (kai just so happens to be one of those younglings / kai accidentally broke his nose once) but will play any sport if you ask him to, v v big fan of dodgeball

bolin is a theatre kid, and a definite favorite student of mr. varrick; as much as everyone loves bolin and his passion, they internally beg for him to stop singing show tunes (he is the reason him and vice principal zhu li moon end up together and varrick doesn't even know it) and def loves being the lead in the show but won't mind being stage manager either

meanwhile, asami picked up a lot of activities, the students are jealous at how amazing her time management is; not only is asami student body president, all her important subjects are advanced classes (she even takes a robotics class for fun) and will help vice principal zhu li plan all the class fundraisers

opal is in the dance company !! her mom su is the head of the dance department at their school and gets them to comps every year; they've won consecutively for at least three years (they lost to the ember island players their freshman year)

wu idek he probably doesn't even do anything and is still the most popular person in the school second to asami sato and he is perfectly okay with that; for sure spends his time running the class tea spilling account instead of piling on curriculars

(i changed my mind he does choir mhm, mako learns a note or two thanks to him, and sings many of mako's songs that the fire boy has written because i believe in songwriter mako supremacy)

okay but the krew and co is so popular that sometimes people get sus whenever they have casual conversations with teachers (especially the hot volleyball coach and dramatic history teacher iroh ii who visits pe teacher bumi during class) but then they have to remember that literally all of them are related to one another somehow

i mean most of jinora's uncles and aunts are teachers there and they absolutely adore her, if she's in any of their classes they will use her work as an example no matter what

but like literally also carpool for this krew is such a mess okay

mako drives kai and wu around bc wu doesn't have republic city citizenship / license and registration and therefore cannot drive in republic city even if he wanted to (he did not want to but you get my point)

asami drives jinora home most of the time so she can have an excuse to see her gf korra, bolin can't drive so usually asami takes him with her to their air temple mansion so he can keep ikki company / provide extra support so mako has to come and get him after his shifts

they all love each other sm though, they will literally hold a support group every week filled with movies and food at the sato household; if there's an event for one of the krew members they go to that event and cheer them on so loud teachers have to get them to calm down (the standing ovation bolin got on opening night of love amongst the dragons made him cry)

this group isn't the best when it comes to dances, but they're suddenly interested when jinora gets asked by kai; they "chaperone" alongside tenzin and end up having the best time of their lives (wu rigged the votes that night to get bopal to win hoco king and queen because "true love!")

their superlatives in the yearbook are best friend group and most likely to be famous in ten years and it's all of them in this super sweet candid taken by pema bc no one else could get a better pic than she did (even korra is in it !!); the superlatives do be true though

anyway the lok high school au lives in my head rent free it should live in yours too okay because this isn't even all i have for them rn i- just thought you should know lmao ❤️

“So…are you gonna tell me why you brought me up here or…?”

“Do I need a reason?” Johnny grins at you, chin resting on his forearms atop the roof of his car.

“I can’t help but think you’re up to something,“ you state, narrowing your eyes at him from the other side. 

Johnny lets out a short chuckle before closing the door of the car and motioning for you to follow. When your boyfriend said he’s taking you on an adventure, you quite literally had no clue what to expect. Everything’s an adventure to the man—even if it’s just going out at 3 a.m. to get hot ramen from the convenience store right beside your apartment. You didn’t think it’d be an hour drive, dozing off on Johnny’s shoulder by the time you reached.

You take two steps after him before you gasp.

“Don’t tell me we’re meeting your dad!” 

The blood drains from your face at the idea. A God among Gods—you wish that were an understatement—is unlikely to meet mere human beings on a whim, lesser beings as one of the other demigod children had labeled bitterly. He’s a God, feared and admired since times of war and prayers. So what gives you, a mortal, enough confidence to face someone as divine, as powerful? It makes you uneasy.

You shake out of your trance to find Johnny laughing, doubled over.

“We’re not really meeting him but- you’re that scared of my dad?” he says, calming down from his fit. “Even I’m not that terrified of him, babe.”

“Shut up,” you say, cheeks coloring. “It’s not exactly everyday I meet someone who can smite me out of existence.”

“Relax! He’s pretty easy-going,” your boyfriend reassures you, taking hold of your hand. “Besides, he likes hanging out at the beach. And he’s got, like, a bajillion other kids to worry about.”

You rub your thumb over his knuckles, a sigh leaving your lips.

“He can’t be that bad,” you mumble, feeling somewhat sorry.

“Oh,” Johnny says with a dismissive tone, “Pretty sure he’s won worst dad of the year several times, actually. Only beaten by Zeus himself.”

You want to laugh but you stiffen. 

“Are you allowed to say his name like that?!” You lower your voice, eyes shifting around nervously.

“If Zeus could hear everyone saying his name, he’d be, uh, hearing some delicate words pretty often.” Johnny shrugs. “And then we’d have more thunderstorms.“ 

You laugh, easing, Johnny’s eyes lighting up at the sound. They always make you feel warm in the chest, with how pretty those almond eyes are. He tugs at your hand, and you follow him up a beaten road before diverging into a less visible track.

It’s a long walk uphill, however, and Johnny has it easy when his legs are so fucking long. The wind gets chilly and you cling onto Johnny’s hand for a little piece of warmth. A break would be nice. You stop halfway through, swearing at your boyfriend for choosing such a godforsaken place but continue nonetheless when he frowns, a look in his eyes you don’t want to upset. 

Johnny doesn’t let go of your hand the entire time. He’s been this way since you started dating, perhaps even before—a little protective with the need to feel your touch at all times. It’s understandable and you found it endearing despite how often he refuses to let go. (And his strength and stature make it next to impossible to break free.)

It wasn’t hard to tell there was something off about your boyfriend; maybe not the first or second time you met him, but eventually, it was clear. You met in university after all, and it’s not the full uni experience unless all your secrets are laid bare by the end of first year. 

Johnny was a natural people person, everyone drawn to him like he was made of honey, of things so sweet. But there was something about him, oh it nagged you day and night, a silvery whisper. The way he spoke, the way he smiled—there was a quiet difference you just couldn’t put your finger on. He’s aced every athletics club entrance test for fun, a little awkward at reading his text material and always hanging around the swimming pool for too long—gosh, were the number of people ogling him extraordinarily high then. There were so many hints and you’d missed all of them. 

You’ve met demigods before, just not one like this. Johnny was almost unworldly were it not for his habit of making everyone feel at ease. It took you a while to figure out.

Son of Poseidon, gentle eyes and sun-crinkles—how could you miss it? The way he smells of golden amber and sea musk, calloused hands and deep eyes, just all of him, really. It was hard to not find him attractive. But it was harder to answer if that was all. 

The place gets closer—you know because you can see a soft smile forming on Johnny’s face. You quicken your pace to match his footsteps, curiosity peaking as you notice your boyfriend get giddier.

The water glows a gentle blue, in contrast with the darker shade of its surroundings. They reflect the stars, their shine not dulled through the distance and a certain twinkling you haven’t seen in them in quite a while. Water lilies bloom bright, small frogs jumping in and out of the water. There might be some fish too but they’re elusive, invisible if you try too hard to spot them. 

It’s a clear sky tonight. You sigh at the warmth, quite possibly a result of the habitation around here but you’re glad it soothes the cool air. (”You like this kind of thing, don’t you?” “Hm, yeah.”)

“You will not believe how I had to impress the Naiads to find this place,“ Johnny tells you, walking closer to the spring to stand beside you.

You furrow your eyebrows at him, the implication of his words not quite what you expected. “Impress, huh?”

“No- babe, that’s not- I mean, of course not,“ Johnny looks at you with mock hurt.

“Naiads do love a son of Poseidon,“ you mumble, turning away to face the waters. 

Johnny wraps his arms around you, resting his chin atop your head. “Oh, but this son of Poseidon only loves you.”

“Johnny, that’s cheesy,” you say looking down, the heat quite rushed to your cheeks. You want to call him an idiot but the word falls short.

“But you’re enjoying it,” he hums.

“I enjoy everything about you.”

You feel Johnny shake with soft laughter, swaying gently at his own pace. You don’t know when you started to see Johnny in most everything—in the new dog cafes, in midnight city rains, in children playing volleyball. Call it love, call it more.

You turn around. “I—”

Johnny presses his mouth against yours in a kiss that makes you melt and you clutch the fabric of his hoodie for support. His arms wind around your waist, secure as always and he hums when you push against him. 

“Baby’s getting bolder, hm?” he murmurs between kisses with a laugh. You respond with a weak sound.

You remember the first time you kissed him, not quite sober and he had pushed you away only to spend the night with you. The whiskey still burns on your tongue sometimes. 

You don’t need to see fireworks when you kiss, just taste the late night coffee and a bit of Johnny. 

A son of a God and his lips, tongue, fingers, love—the texts and scribes were nothing close to describing it perfectly. You forget the words you meant to tell him.

But you don’t have to say ‘I love you’; it’s there in your mouth and he can taste it.

“No, I don’t wanna listen to the minotaur story again!” Johnny shakes you by the shoulders. “It’s literally the worst thing I’ve ever heard.”

“But why? I think it’s funny—”

“Yeah, Dad’s very creative but…gross.”

You laugh at his disgust, nose wrinkled and a mild shaking of his head. 

“Tell me another story,” he says, leaning in, “Something more…romantic.”

You breathe out quickly at the sudden proximity, heart in your throat. His smile grows and you resist the urge to huff at him. He’s unbearable when he knows he’s under your skin. Gods, it was harder to admit you fell in love with him than it was to find out his heritage.

You reach out and move the hair out of his face, marveling at how he manages to keep it soft when he used to be a sweaty college student pretty often. Memories are funny in a way, they keep you so closely tied. There’s an embarrassing amount of pictures of him on your phone, the ones he sent from the dorms, from his new job, sometimes family photos during holidays. It gets busy a lot, but sometimes, just sometimes, it’s like this. 

You wonder if Gods get to have happy endings. You wonder if there’s more to the constellations they made.

“Hello?” Johnny pretends to knock on your forehead.

“Something more romantic, hm? Okay,” you say and he goes back to laying his head on your lap, twirling the water in wisps around his fingers to spell random words. You bend to press a kiss to his forehead, a surprised smile wavering onto his face as the water splashes beside you.

“Baby, you might want to have aimed lower.” Johnny winks at you.

“You’re so annoying. I’m in love with you.”

My Top Ten Anime, a chaotic list

This was so hecking difficult, I’m gonna have to do some ‘honourable mentions’ for ones I can’t bring myself to leave out. This list is based entirely on my personal feelings, not an objective assessment of what are logically the best anime. There also may be mild spoilers at points because I can’t control myself. Doing this in quarantine cause I looove ranting about things I like.

10) Attack On Titan

This was the first anime I ever watched, and it blew my mind a bit tbh. The music is iconic, and the animation is great as well. It might have been a bit harrowing for my first experience with anime, but I absolutely loved the story. It’s set in a world where titans (man eating giants) have driven the dregs of humanity to live within giant stone walls. There’s a group of humans trying to research titans, kill them, and protect humanity, and the main character decides to join them after a titan breaks through one of the walls and his mother is eaten. It’s one of those where you think you know everything and suddenly the world gets turned upside down by a new discovery. All the puzzle pieces start fitting together the longer you watch, and you find out that everything going on is much bigger than what it originally seemed (government conspiracy time lads). The plot twists are unpredictable (for me at least) and devastating, and the emotion this series evokes is awesome - you can FEEL the sheer desperation of the characters, their rage and despair as they fight again and again against a seemingly unending enemy. Despite almost every battle being a suicide mission and despite too many losses, the characters keep going out of the human need to survive and protect. 

10/10 for brutality and gore, but also theme of hope.

9) Naruto

A founding father of anime. Surprisingly not one of the first I watched, in fact it took me a few years to start. It’s set in a feudal Japan where ninjas are the defenders and servers of the people, and different villages have different ninja styles. Naruto is a young boy with a dangerous spirit sealed inside him which has caused him to be shunned by society (even though it’s not his fault??), and he wants to become a ninja. First off I’m a sucker for the Naruto archetype: dumbass, cocky, obnoxious, but kind and loyal too. Years of solitude and ostracisation as a child mean that Naruto desperately wants people to acknowledge him, and he intends to become the Hokage to prove himself. There’s a huge range of characters and villains, all with cool ninjutsus and different philosophies. Friendship, power, and determination are some of the main themes and it makes me so proud to see my son *COUGH* Naruto progressing and learning from his mistakes. It IS a long boi though and I haven’t even finished Shippuden yet, but I think Naruto captures the essence of shounen anime and is a great underdog story. Manga is lit too. 

10/10 for cool battles and great characters.

8) Psycho Pass

One of the earlier anime I watched, and it became an instant favourite for the way it makes you question morality. It’s set in a kinda dystopian future Japan, where a technology called the Sibyl System checks people’s mental state and determines their ‘crime coefficient’ - how likely they are to commit a crime. The main character is a young woman who joins the police and begins to realise that blindly following this system is perhaps not the best way to go about things. For example, they have special guns that automatically kill people whose crime coefficients are over a certain level, but she soon proves that you can easily lower someone’s coefficient by talking them down and negotiating instead of killing them off immediately. It’s got great drama, great government conspiracy, compelling villains, and some really badass characters. It pushes the question of what is right or wrong, and how far technology should go when it comes to justice. 

10/10 for sociological debate and horror elements.

7) One Punch Man

OPM is an anime that stands out for me, partially for mocking the tropes of battle anime, and partially for the uniqueness of the main character’s predicament. It’s set in Japan where heroes and villains exist, and the protagonist is a man called Saitama who gained superstrength after doing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10K run every day. However he’s become so strong that he can defeat every enemy with a single punch. Nothing is a challenge for him anymore so he becomes depressed and unfulfilled; he’s still a good man who helps people, but he feels he’s missing something from his life. A cyborg called Genos makes Saitama his master, determined to learn his ways and they become friends. It’s one of the first anime that made me laugh out loud; it’s funny and entertaining, but also shows us that power is not equal to happiness. 

10/10 for moral lessons and good jokes.

6) Tanaka-kun is Always Listless

The only slice of life anime on this list and not very well known, however it has a special place in my heart. The main character Tanaka is a boy who dozes off constantly and acts exhausted when awake; he loves expending as little energy as possible. His best friend Ohta looks out for him and essentially makes sure he doesn’t get lost/ be late/die on a daily basis, including carrying him when he just falls asleep sometimes. Although Tanaka seems uncaring, it’s shown that friendship isn’t a bother to him, and he realises that he actually relies on his friends despite saying he likes being left in peace. His friends all have great personalities, my personal faves are a tough gangster girl who’s rude to everyone EXCEPT her adorable loli girlfriend, and a popular girl who’s trying too hard to fit in and starts to become more herself after befriending Tanaka. All the characters share one brain cell, and it’s genuinely a funny anime - I’ve burst out laughing watching it a few times. Also Tanaka and Ohta are extremely shippable if you want to go down that route; it’s said several times in the series that they’re like an old married couple. 

10/10 for wholesomeness and comedy.

5) Ouran High School Host Club

Another lighthearted show, probably the anime that’s made me laugh the most out of any. It’s set at an academy for rich-as-heck kids, and there’s a ‘Host Club’ where all the girls go to drink tea with a group of handsome boys. There’s the cunning Kyouka, prankster identical twins Hikaru and Kaoru, stoic Mori, adorable Honey, and princely but obnoxious Tamaki. Haruhi, a working-class scholarship student who is mistaken for a boy, accidentally breaks a precious vase and is forced by the host club to join them to pay off her debt. The group of boys realise fairly quickly that haruhi is a girl, but she becomes a popular host amongst the girls (LOVE the secret lesbian vibes) so they keep up the charade. I think I have a weakness for groups that share one brain cell because aside from Kyouka, they’re all idiots. I also love how flexible the show is with ideas of gender and sexuality despite being a slightly older anime. The daily antics of the host club combined with their personalities is a recipe for comedy, and they’re all lovable in their own ways. 

10/10 for characters, drama, and comedy; it’s well-paced too.

4) Bungou Stray Dogs

Set in an alternate modern Japan where some people have secret abilities that can be activated, this anime became an obsession when I first watched it. The cast of characters is amazing and the villains are awesome too. Atsushi is an orphan who discovers he can turn into a powerful tiger, and is hired by the Armed Detective Agency, a small organisation of powerful individuals who fight crime. NEED I SAY ANY MORE?? Many of the main characters share names with famous Japanese authors such as Osamu Dazai and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa which is really cool and something that might add to the story more if I had an understanding of Japanese literature. Anyways the main character Atsushi is kind of a wimp at first (understandably because the world of ability-users is actually terrifying), but he learns to stand up for himself and use his ability to save people. The show’s mixing of dark and comedic tones is perfect to me; one moment a character is off his head on mushrooms and the next Atsushi’s leg is brutally sliced off in a back alley fight (it regenerates later no worries). The plot is really cool and full of intrigue, and eventually you get the whole ‘Usually we’re sworn enemies but we’re forced to become allies in the face of a greater evil’ thing and it’s great! Turns out our main guy and our main bad guy are actually a pretty powerful and efficient team, hoho?? 

10/10 for supernatural detectives being super cool.

3) Yuri!!! on Ice

Y’all already know what’s going on. Ice skating, emotional breakthroughs, gay shit, HIT ME WITH IT. The story follows Yuri Katsuki, an insecure figure skater trying to regain his confidence, and his self-appointed coach Viktor Nikiforov. Viktor is enthusiastic in helping Yuri train, and Yuri has been a big fan of Viktor since his childhood *throws pillow across the room*. Yuri becomes determined to, quote, “surpass Viktor’s wildest imagination”, and they end up agreeing - through a series of convoluted events - to get married if Yuri wins gold at the olympics (I think it’s the olympics??). Either fuckin way this series has angst, humour, cuteness, and god DAMN did I get invested. When Yuri was doing his free skate my own heart was beating harder than it did when I finished a 10K. Love the vibes and also it’s the closest to full healthy gay representation that I’ve seen in anime for a while. Not much more I can say, but do I really need to say more???

2) Kimetsu No Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Ok this one’s kind of a cheat cause I’ve read the manga as well which is way ahead of the anime, but FUCC. It takes place in the Taisho Era in Japan (begins 1912), where Demons exist who eat people. Tanjiro Kamado’s family is killed by a demon one night and his sister Nezuko is turned into a demon - but it is soon discovered she’s different to other demons, and can restrain herself. Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps to try and track down a cure for his sister, while proving that demons are not inherently evil. I LOVE Tanjiro as a main character because he values kindness over everything else, not forgiving demons for their sins but recognising they are tormented creatures, trying to give them peace before they die. All demons were once human - a fact that only Tanjiro seems to remember when fighting them. He’s patient, gentle, and determined - hotheaded and brash sometimes, but he has this vibe that just makes people become his friend/respect him even if they don’t intend to. He befriends two other slayers - Inosuke, an absolutely feral Best Boy who was raised by wild boars, and Zenitsu, a cowardly but ultimately loyal guy. This trio works really well together and Tanjiro is a great protagonist. Don’t even get me STARTED on the music and animation. Impeccable. Kamado Tanjiro No Uta makes me cry every time I hear it, and the water/fire effects used to show the metaphorical way the swords move like the elements takes my breath away.

10/10 for morals, music and animation.

1) Mob Psycho 100

Where the fuck do I start here. This anime is so unique in its style, story, and characters that I think it will always be my favourite. It follows Shigeo Kageyama (nicknamed Mob cause that’s what they call extras and background characters in Japan), a plain boy with incredible psychic powers that explode when his emotions are too high. Over time he’s learned to suppress his emotions, causing him to become socially inept and emotionally withdrawn. His (fake) psychic ‘master’, Reigen, uses him to make money exorcising spirits, making Mob believe that it’s for ‘training’. Mob appears naive at times, but he is so simply kind to people that it makes my heart hurt. Unlike many of the egomaniac psychics that Mob comes across, he recognises that without powers, he is just an ordinary boy. Mob’s greatest power isn’t his OP psychic abilities, but his power to show people they can change, that he can change. He forgives (and eventually befriends) people who have tried to kill him. Redemption and empathy are big themes here and they’re done really well.

The other characters are so well rounded and are also given time to grow, including Reigen - at first he’s a seemingly manipulative sleazebag, but later you see that he is a genuinely good man who has taught Mob many lessons and helped him grow up. This is a core message - Mob’s ability to change is due to support from his friends, not purely his own desire - people need other people!

This is also one of the true rarities in anime where the second season is absolutely just as good (if not better!) than the first one. The music is unique to the show, the ops for both seasons get me litty, the animation is incredible, the jokes are great and although it’s not all about big-ass fights, when we do get a big-ass fight it’s so fucking cool. The fight sequences are beautifully animated and visually stunning. MP100 makes me laugh, cry like an actual baby, and want to become a better person. Idk I could literally write pages on it like the big nerd I am but that’s all I’ll do for now.

10/10 for literally everything.

Samurai Champloo : ragtag trio consisting of two samurai - one lowkey feral and does breakdancing, the other lofty and withdrawn - and a bold young girl. Themes of friendship and journeys. I simp for the lofty samurai.

Cowboy Bebop: jazzy music, bounty hunters in space, 90s anime WHAT MORE COULD U WANT. Yet another group of characters that share a single brain cell. Love it.

in kun ichi was the most serious! really smart but just as bad w school as the rest of them apparently but!! yeah so id think that!! ichis that guy who participates in class discussion constantly and is always willing to debate the readings, but turns in sloppy papers with typos and no a coherency or stucture or anything. he’s A+ in participation but has an average of 60% on most of the written assignments with points knocked bc of lateness then more bc its A Mess. you could ask about the prompts for one of his papers, he could babble about his position on it complete with paragraphs and footnotes but like the day before its due hes playing rpgs and watching horror movies.

his classmates think hes so smart n so intimidating. the family knows hes a hot mess. the teachers tell him he has a lot of potential but they don’t think hes applying himself. all are right. also he doesnt cheat or let people cheat off of him since hes always been about rules and boundaries and Rightness n he n jyushi were the only ones who Minded Themselves in kun

uhh jyushi!! let me talk about schoolwork again bc yeah i love jyushi so so so so much and thinking of him in a school environment is so weird i thought about it a lot n i thought about it him in kun n san and Woah!! i really really love delinquent jyushi, bc when i saw that i was like 'huh! that fits actually!!’ i love that like him and choro flip flopped completely from what i thought. his school must be so cold theyre too cheap to afford heating in the winter and in summer the acs Blast. he was so Shy and quiet and he cried and he liked to sing so i always thought that when he participated in chorus festivals hes always like right in front!! he hums a lot in class and also moves around alot bc he actually like school and people like primary trio are the types that make friends often. i wasnt supposed to talk about this yet whoops.

unlike ichi who relatively neat despite everything but has shit notes, jyushis notes are amazing and understandable and utterly illegible.

theyre covered in doodles, arrows and lines leading every which way, different colors but not like color coded n theyre not in order by date, but he opens to a random page every time yet somehow always seems to know where to find each lesson. he writes footnotes and caveats and corrections and criticisms of the teachers and random thoughts and just smears ink everywhere. sometimes his notes are on a completely different subject. the notebook itself is a horrifying mess, the front and back covers both covered in drawings and designs and falling apart, random papers shoved between the pages, coming apart at the seams, covered in stains of unknown origin. assignments are full of emoticons and informal language, and they always manage to make his teachers feel like hes smarter than they are (most likely). he does his projects the minute theyre assigned, and is finished a minute later so can talk to his friends. he loved school.

sophie told me once about how she thought was Like That was bc one of his main concerns is that he thought he had nothing that made him Jyushi n in kun she said he might have been the one who was the most concerned about having a distinctive personality and i talked about how that sorta carried over san and how he always blended in bc of how gentle and soft and push-overy he was. he was actually the and most gullible and weakest in kun so i was like :0 when i saw that and intentionally did stuff like only carry 14 yen in his pockets to be quirky but it always sorta fell flat and he was still invisible so i was like hmmmmm. and i can see how he couldve toughened up and thinking of this now!! i love that. oh im so happy. this is so much better than i ever couldve imagined ever.

totty…. i do not think he was very popular or good at school. i think he’s very decent at schoolwork but he never put much effort into it. just copies whats on the board but if the class runs out of allotted lesson time n he couldnt finish his work he just didnt do it like cram schools a pain in the ass. if he put effort hed be a star student but he just craps out whatever since hes was the laziest!! oh but something i noticed was that him and jyushi would play together often since sometime he felt overwhelmed by karamatsu a lot. also hes the money thief and scammer its great kun todo is so good. he gets shy and flustered easy too!!

but uhh yeah!! depending on the day im always like 'zaimoku love each other so much they are best friends and the perfect other halves!!’ then im like 'these mofos hate each other what the fuck is this trainwreck’ did you see their shitty small talk in the horse episode. what was that. like they are genuinely trying to communicate and are pretty easy with each other but they have nothing to say. its like when youre having a boring day at school and theres nothing to talk about with an acquaintance so you just look at the walls and go 'have you ever noticed how stupid these posters are’ then you both start reading posters aloud but you both know its not that funny and youre just doing it to waste time but you still enjoy their company you just dont want silence. thats their relationship. and i think they are just very similar in very different ways and like. the key things that make them both similar and different and the same fuck them up (like suiriku!! theyre both really similar even if it doesn’t seem like it at first which is why their compatibility in the relationship chart was so low in s1, but i saw a lot of improvement in both of their behaviours and their communication and honestly. s2 was worth it for that sophie was so happy to see her faves get along) like sometimes when you look in the mirror all the things you see are the things you dont like about yourself instead of what makes you wonderful and unique. also i didnt mean to talk about this but i guess i am.

but yeah. totty is bitter n resentful at kara during hs n karas more confused and upset at tottys behaviour in their twenties n thats bc like i said. theyre dumb. karamatsu!! i think was actually pretty popular in highschool n had a good amount of friends - i genuinely think theatre kids are well liked bc i literally know everyone in my department and im friends w a good amount of people and im not even That extroverted. my actual extrovert friends know everyone in the school by name and everyone in my department is so nice even though theres a lot of bitchiness and drama its not as bad as w other humanities studies (jesus christ humanity students outside of theatre are a hot mess.)

uh yeah n that ultimately makes totty feel a bit… betrayed? karamatsu is his partner! theyre supposed to be there for eachother! kara’s the first one to branch out, get friends etc etc and todomatsus left behind bc hes always the one playimg follow the leader and he breaks out of that once they graduate - he grows up resenting karamatsu slightly though he still cares. but this time Hes the one cancelling plans to hang out with friends instead. my friend katie put it best when, in response to me telling them this, they sent me:

'kara: totty you have so many friends now. We barely see you anymore.

totty, applying chapstick: well, I learned it from the best.’

when i told them about it. but at the time gwyn and i were babbling about possibilities and different storylines and how theres a possiblity the movie might break down into three manageable plotlines n she gave zaimoku 'popularity’ and this was me throwing out ideas but honestly. Good. (aha, the end of this scenario ended up with todo throwing hands and shoulder checking someone outside a window and then getting removed from the premise n hanging with atsushi all night after) why am i on this. shit what happened here.

uhh but yeah totty is Def someone with learned behaviours rather than being a natural extrovert honestly just look at him hes an introverted mess masquerading as a decent human being and i know full well how people like that are bc some of them have been my best friends for years n seein the new hs promos solidifies that fact bc look at him. Crybaby. He is Miniscule. A Child.

then its 'delinquent who looks like an honour student’ choro. i never studied him until sophie started liking choro n since i love sophie i wanted to take an interest in him too. n i started to think very hard about him! then gwyn planted this in me n its taken root and im just never not gonna think its great. yall see his shitty gokudo impression what a bossy lil shit. he pulled a whip on kara once and it was mad funny but also Gwyns Big Evidence for him just being the absolute worst not like a casually skips class type but a Choro was a legit a bully and really mean n sabatoged other classmates to make him look like he was 100% That Bitch. maybe not him being Mean and cruel but just an asshole who bums around, is something i really like that one a lot its been one of my faves since gwyn n i started talking about it but i just!! have a ton of other things too!!

hes a lot like karamatsu in that theyre both stupid and weird and embarrassing and they put on airs but they also!! dont try!! they talk so big and such high goals n expectations and they dont do shit bc they have so much hubris but i always talk about them bc suiriku is sophies Beloved so ill like. Not. but he acts like he’s better than all of them n forces the role of the straight man on himself because he wants to be seen as the responible, level headed one even if hes just. So Much.

i think the movies calling back to how touchy feely and clingy he was in kun and adding on to how jyushis a delinquent and kara… Is Like That he’ll be around them the most bc jyushi might either be really protective or push him away and then they do something to mend their relationship later on or hell cling to kara and they just. grow apart. sticking to my hc until the end bitches. oh.

for choro… personally!! i thought hed be a slacker instead of a delinquent but not in the way totty slacked - totty was lazy n knew the work but didnt want to put in effort but choro just. Doesnt. choro has so much energy all the time and choro Can Not deal with school situations. bc like… you always hear people say that studying is meant to be done at the desk, silently, no distractions what so ever!! focus on notes and nothing else!! ise a highlighter but dont use it too much!! make your notes legible but you only have five minutes before the board gets erased!! review!!! look at your notes or youll die! take breaks bit dont take too long and honestly. listen. kun choro wouldnt be able to stand that shit and id think hed just think he was doing it The Wrong Way n he just wasnt meant to do it.

he doesnt like quiet classrooms!! he cant study like that and hell get distracted. he cant sit still n thats why totoko broke up w him in the beer ad and why hes just Everywhere in kun!! hes understimulated and its just Ugh! you know??? he’ll fidget w his pens until he breaks them or hum or tap his foot and annoy everyone or leave for the bathroom at least three times a class just to get up and move.

i would think hes actually a bit more serious n calm in hs and san is him amping up traits that drew people to him in hs and it backfiring on kara spectacularly - kara is always gauging people and their reactions and acting in a way he believes will get something positive, but at the same time is utterly oblivious when it comes to actually Getting them n i talked about the girls on the bridge but this is also prevalent with ichi who kara just. Doesnt Get and can not figure out how to maneuver their relationship. like oso, kara is and elder brother!! and elder brothers have an image theyre supposed to uphold, but while kara acts the part he doesnt do the shit a big brother does and shrugs that responsibility off on oso until oso fucks up until s2, where they share the role more evenly and his relationship with ichi improves but this is another essay entirely. what im trying to get with that is that hyperfocus on what other people think of him, but his complete disregard when it comes to their actual reaction and instead what he wants their reactions to be would also greatly impact him transtioning from a teen to an adult im sorry im getting sloppy now

osomatsu… i really adore him too much and i understand how totty felt in their episode bc i also lent my phone to a friend who needed to desperately jack it before meeting new people n i talk about him a whole lot too. hes mean and an asshole and garbage n i know a lot of people find him plain n boring but idk. i dont think thats the case hes a really complexed n nuanced character n hes literally has always been way back from kun n thats expected from a main character but… hes always been mean n dumb n sly and he can get so pathetically vunerable and thats literally!! him. hes a normal dude nothing wrong with that n it can be real refreshing. n i suppose im so fond of fishing trio+choro bc they remind me of my friends. but yeah even if hes 'plain’ i dont see why thats a bad thing. n this they always have the most interesting body language like despite kara being So Much his body language was always closed off n singled him out as everything But exuberant and bright, and osos quirks like how he stands on his toes a lot had always been so cute… its relaxed and open n screams Talk To Me!!!!

ahh but i always end up thinking oso was. oso??? theres not much to say that i havent before but i do think that he was a lot more like he was in episode 2 when ranting to chibita about having shitty brothers and then actively Chose to be a good brother even if he wasnt a good person and be a stable rock and be someone they could all come back to at the end of the day. and hes good at math im never letting this die.

unpopular opinion- I don’t really like either of Todoroki’s most popular ships. I have a hard time imagining a reason outside of school Momo and Todoroki would ever hang out, and even then I can’t see anything growing there beyond friendship. As for Midoriya and Todoroki… I can see why people ship it I guess, but as someone who came into the fandom knowing that was a fairly popular ship the moment that launched it didn’t even phase me, at least not in that way. It wasn’t until my second watching that I realized that was probably what started the ship and I feel like not a whooole lot has happened between them since? At least not to my knowledge. Todoroki, in my opinion, isn’t close enough to ANYONE yet for romance to be a viable option.

Cypress wands are associated with nobility. Unicorn

Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and  is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are  generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. I'm so ready

First and foremost I really really feel like he's a ravenclaw because ravenclaws don't strictly honor the intelligent or the geniuses but the eccentric-thinkers and curious learners as well which i think taehyung fits perfectly

Like 90% of the time nobody knows what goes on in his head

He'll say something stupid or weird once but then something really smart and sensible 5 seconds later

The sorting hat actually had a really hard time sorting him because taehyung is really just a ball of everything

But he loves being in ravenclaw because their common room is in a tower and he can stargaze all he wants

I like to think of him as that one oddball ravenclaw who isn't like all the other ravenclaws who would rather search for answers in books

Taehyung is more of the hands-on explorer type of guy 

Most people wonder why he's in ravenclaw in the first place when he resembles more of a gryffindor but taehyung strongly believes that bravery means pursuing knowledge as well

His favorite subject is Care of Magical Creatures

Hagrid is his bff

Omg can you imagine

Hagrid showing everyone the Blast-Ended Skrewt and all the other students are backig away in terror while Taehyung just runs up to one like "Hey! Can I pet one!!!???"

He names one of the skrewts "sparky"

It makes hagrid's giant heart feel hella soft

Rubeus Hagrid is an amazing character who deserves to be loved and appreciated-

Taehyung becomes assistant groundskeeper and helps Hagrid take care of all his magical creatures

He idolizes Newt Scamander

Sometimes you'll find him around the castle grounds or at the lake looking for kappas

He's always outdoors and covered in dirt or with his pant legs and cloak wet

He probs looks adorable like that omg my heart hurts just thinking about it

Taehyung is also really good at Transfiguration and he loves the idea of being able to turn one thing into another thing

Most of the time though he'll transfigure one thing into another thing entirely though

Like professor mcgonagall will be asking them to transfigure an inkwell into a goblet and taehyung will turn his into a fricking eagle or something

"Am i doing it right professor??"

And mcgonagall is speechless because yeah he didn’t turn it into a goblet but dang how the fuck did this kid turn it into an eagle????

Eventually mcgonagall helps taehyung control his magic a bit more until he's practically the best transfiguration student in his year

Professor also has a soft spot for taehyung and lowkey wishes he was in gryffindor instead

All the professors have a soft spot for taehyung even professor snape

But taehyung is HORRIBLE at potions class

He's set his own cauldron on fire a million times

He really tries his best though

But he's so clumsy he'll knock ingredients around everywhere and professor snape is just watching him with a stream of gordon ramsay insults all ready to use ("what are you? an idiot sandwich")

But then he sees taehyung's proud smile at making a semi-decent potion even though most of his robes and hair are singed off and there are burns on his fingers and (omg is his skin turning blue?????) Snape just sighs and just lets him barely pass with a grade of P

Taehyung is also a half-blood so he was pretty much raised with the best of both worlds but there's no denying he loves the magical world more

During summer breaks you'll see him looking for bowtruckles in the forest near his grandparents' farm

He takes really good care of what he catches too. Sometimes he'll even bring home a wounded creature to nurse it back to health

His room is a zoo basically

At the same time Taehyung misses his family and a bit of the muggle world when he leaves for hogwarts

I have a feeling his owl is the most tired out of all the owls in school because taehyung writes to his family so much and his family loves sending him gifts

Fuck this makes me feel hella soft i need to throw up

Tae also really misses playing video games

Shit omg a headcanon where he and jungkook try to find a way to play video games somehow while they're in hogwarts

He's not into quidditch so much unlike his bffs jimin and jungkook

He brings fashion magazines with him in his trunk when he goes to school

And after he gets really good at Transfiguration he can change his hogwarts robes into the latest muggle fashion

Taehyung loves giving fashion advice to his friends and pretty much anyone who asks him

He also does it to boost their self-confidence

Omg imagine people with body-image issues coming up to taehyung and asking him to help them look beautiful

And he gives them fashion advice and everything but he always reminds them that clothes only enhance whats there and that they dont need to change a thing about their physical appearance if they dont want to and they're already beautiful as they are

Imagine taehyung giving hagrid the most beautiful winter coat ever that looks like it was made of dragon scales and the dark blue and black colors remind him of Norbert and hagrid ends up wearing it all the time

oooh man so this is super hard as I love all my oc’s, even the bad ones (lookin at you Julius and Gabriel) but!!! I guess I’m super attached to the Cowan twins.

Lemme tell you a bit about Lukas and Thea Cowan:

- they’re vampires

- wait, hear me out before you roll your eyes and scroll past my babies

- they’re not the brooding, manipulative, or have that I’m-dark-sexy-and-mysterious vibe that we read or see in books/tv shows adored by teeny boppers and lonely mums

- (no judgement here)

- they’re actually really,,,cute?!?

-but before I get into their characters, here’s a bit of backstory

-they were kidnaped as babies from their pureblood parents by Dominic Cowan, a vampire who was trying to appease his wife, Ophelia.

-he ‘turned’ them into vampires as babies and the couple raised them as their own.

-thea and luke did eventually meet their real parents, but their parents called them ‘monsters’ so…yeah touchy subject.

-okay, now onto thea and luke

- lukey is really awkward ?? Like hes the ‘funny guy’ and he cracks jokes when he’s nervous or uncomfortable which is pretty much all the time.

- he is super shy at first, but once you get to know him he gets super loud and sometimes you have to clamp a hand over his mouth just so you can hear yourself think because really luke? It’s 9 in the morning and you’re literally shouting at me.

-he also has a slight stutter and is a very talented musician. Seriously, that kid has talent.

- he is a huge animal lover, which is #awkward for any vampire but hey, it’s luke, he’s pretty much the epitome of all things awkward.

- thea is super organised, competitive and a clean freak but she isn’t uptight. She knows how to throw a party and boy does she go all out with her parties.

- but because they’re vampires, they don’t get invited out often

-so they throw parties anonymously and become notorious around the campus, even though no one knows who the hosts are…kinda like masked heroes except for stressed uni students. Lol.

- in my story, all vampires are blind (like bats, always a pun intended) but they can see/ smell/ hear blood gushing through people’s bodies.

-so basically, to give you a little insight on what they ‘see’, all they can make out is human-shaped blood circulation system and the veins glow red but that’s it

-thea and luke, however, can see but only because thea is a smartass and invented special glasses that gives them sight

-they still have a high sensitivity to light, though, so they’re always wearing sunnies like cool kids

-also, thea is thicc and smol while lukas is tol and lanky. so, obviously, they’re not members of the ‘tall and gaunt vampires club’

-lukas is super uncoordinated and he can’t dance because he’s super clumsy

-but thea is very graceful and she would’ve made a good dancer if she didn’t want to be an inventor so badly

-thea probably would’ve been sorted into Slytherin if she attended Hogwarts because that girl has ambition like you wouldn’t believe

-she’s also like,,,,super resourceful???

-and her determination means that she likes to stick to things and she won’t - for the love of merlin and that dumbass beard- give up anything. She gonna finish that project if it’s the last thing she does

-meanwhile

-while I’d like to say that lukas is a hufflepuff, luke is more of a gryffindor. Let’s face it, it takes courage to crawl out of your comfort zone and thrust yourself into the world, even though your an emotional wreck and super nervous/anxious 66669% of the time

-he still puts on a brave face and will put up a fight, even if he knows he ain’t gonna win.

The Foxhole Court, Chapter 11 – Orange Sportsball Gets The Fuck Real

In which the Foxes play their first match of the season, I have questions about American college sports, my Percy Jackson obsession has a brief cameo, and I’m sadly less excited about Actual Sportsball Games than I should be.

Sounds good? Then it’s time for Nicki to read The Foxhole Court.

           Thursday’s excitement had nothing on Friday’s. The whole school got decked out overnight with vibrant orange and white streamers. Ribbons and banners hung off every sidewalk lamp. Live student bands took over the amphitheater for short concerts and the student newspaper released that morning gave details for the afternoon parade.

Is that, like…………. Normal behavior on game days?? Actual American high school/college students, please confirm. Is this an actual thing???

I mean, I know y’all are big on sports and school spirit, but this big??

Please understand my confusion: At my school, no one fucking gave a shit about the sports teams. I didn’t even know when anyone had games/competitions unless we got told afterwards who won what brilliant award now, and even then like 5% of us cared. And I can’t speak for my uni yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same there as well. Do German unis even have sports teams?

I always liked to make fun of High School Musical 3 for having those giant ass banners displaying the athletes hanging in the halls. I am now starting to realize that might be perfectly normal for American schools.

What the fuck.

Also, Neil officially came out now – as a member of the Foxes, that is, of course.

           Neil wanted to cut class and hide at Fox Tower until game time, but athletes weren’t allowed to call out without a legitimate medical excuse. Someone from the athletics committee went around all day counting heads through classroom windows, and Wymack would be the first to hear Neil was absent.

They seriously stalk their students all day in fear they might be skipping class? And these students are in college, they are grown adults, not 14-year-olds. Again, is this a thing, what the fuck??

Then again, we’re talking about the country who invented hall passes. This is probably not the craziest thing around.

Fortunately, the Foxes decide to display their first sign of group solidarity in these trying times and guide Neil from class to class. This is a really small detail, but I love it.

I’m imagining Neil as a lil baby duck who obediently follows a big spikey-haired Matt duck, a small white-pastel-y Renee duck or a glamorous blonde Allison duck, wagging behind them in a tiny duck-sized jersey.

Although, when you think about it, they’re all just lil baby ducks following a big Wymack momma duck.

I’m getting off track. Back to the plot.

           Andrew hadn’t lied to Neil back in May. In almost every article that talked of Neil’s pathetic experience Kevin was quoted as having high hopes for him. Kevin really had said that Neil would one day be Court.

Because this is the second time this has come up: What exactly does “being Court” mean?? Like, being Captain? Being MVP? Also, is this a regular sports expression or is is Exy-exclusive? Exyclusive?? Help.

A small silver lining of future hilariousness appears on the horizon: An Exy kickoff banquet is going to happen sometime in the next few chapter, and I am HYPED. This chaotic mess of a team + all their rivals + dates + drinks can only equal a Massive Fun Time™.

Fun for us, not for them, might I add. I am dying to see this.

           “[Renee] hasn’t asked [Andrew] yet, but it’s inevitable. (…) Money’s on the table as to whether or not he says yes. Pot’s getting pretty big, so get your bet in fast.”

           The only thing the Foxes had in common besides Exy and hardship was their strange obsession with betting on the stupidest things. Neil had figured that out only two weeks into practice. A week didn’t go by when there wasn’t money on something or another.

A team after my own heart <3 Can I join? I can never find anyone to bet on dumb things in my own circle of friends.

Will I throw this piece of paper in the bin on my first shot? Will the bus be late? Will Friend A and B hook up tonight? Will I lose my (nonexistent) emotional sanity to this series before the last book is over?

I don’t know about the others, but the last one is 100% happening.

           “There’s something we haven’t told you yet,” Dan said. (…) “So Andrew’s technically legally required to take his medication, right? (…) He struck a bargain of his own with Coach. The only reason he signed with us is because Coach agreed to let him come off his drugs for game nights.”

Is this supposed to come as a big plot twist? Because I kind of saw that coming. 10 bucks says Andrew comes off his meds for all Important Moments.

*insert yet another rant about the negative portrayal of mental health meds as barbaric mind-numbing, mania-inducing ~happy pills~ here*

Anyways, back to game day!! Our beloved foxy nutcases are playing against the Breckenridge Jackals, which is shaping up to be a Fun Time™ as they are apparently the biggest bullies around (second only to the Edgar Allan Murder Mob Clique, of course).

However, when faced with his impending wipe-out on the court, our favourite Sassmaster McSavage reaches new levels of Hell Fuckin Yeah:

           “[Gorilla] will break every bone in your body if you give him the chance.”

           “Don’t worry, though,” Matt said. “He’ll probably be too busy killing Kevin and Seth to notice you.”

Before we finally begin the actual match (and wow, it’s 1.1k words already), Nicky seems to finally get the mental slaps I’ve been sending him since a few chapters ago:

           Nicky looked at Neil. “Hey,” he said, sounding uncharacteristically hesitant. “We haven’t really had a chance to talk after… Well. I wanted to say sorry, but I kept chickening out. Are we okay?”

           “I don’t know yet,” Neil said.

           Nicky weighed that for a minute, then sighed and said, “Fair enough.”

Deep sigh. Who are we kidding, I can never resist a self-aware comic relief, Nicky, you’re still one of my faves. At least he knows he fucked up.

And now, finally: It’s Orange Sportsball time!!

Time for fast-paced sports action, balls flying, racquets hitting, body-checks left and right, a flurry of energy and emotion… that I simply can’t get behind.

I’m sorry, you guys, but I found myself having to double- and triple-read passages here in order to keep up with who is standing where, who is passing to whom and just generally what exactly is going on. Maybe it has to do with my own lack of interest for any sports involving balls (or actually any sports that isn’t dance, cheer, or anything involving performance), but I’m not really excited about this whole game part, to put it mildly.

Don’t get me wrong: I am loving the emotions attached to it. Solidarity, passion, group dynamics and character development shown on the field, give me all that good shit. I just couldn’t care less about who’s passing to who. Forgive me.

Did someone say passion and group dynamics?

           Neil’d watched his teammates fall apart to in-fighting all summer long, but now he finally saw them as a whole. As much as the Foxes disliked each other at times, they disliked their opponents more. They were still too fractured to be truly great, but they were good enough to give him chills.

This is shaping up to be good, you guys.

I can only imagine the sheer gloriousness in the upcoming books when Kandreil finally get their shit together and play on the field as a beautiful unstoppable three-way killing machine. I WILL DIE.

Twenty minutes into the game, Seth is crushed against a wall by three hundred pounds of pure douchebaggery – and I actually do feel sorry for him, not gonna lie – which means it’s time for the moment we’ve all been waiting for:

           “Going on for Seth Gordon is freshman Neil Josten, number ten, of Millport, Arizona.”

           Neil wondered if casket lids sounded like court doors being shut.

Ah yes, thank you for reminding me, even in the face of impending doom, how incredibly extra our boy Josten is.

           “An amateur and a cripple, you mean,” the dealer said.

           Andrew slammed his racquet against the goal, making several athletes jump and drawing more than a few wary looks his way.

This is such a small detail but it’s the /best/. Nobody insults my boyfriends in front of me, fuckface.

Bla bla bla more sports bla bla, I’m putting everything remotely interesting that’s happening in a bullet list because let’s be honest, it’s not fucking much.

Matt takes a card for the team by punching the fuck out of Gorilla, what a babe.

Gorilla has been hitting Kevin’s hand on purpose all the time, which is not cool, yet not surprising, ain’t no honour in Exy injuries, apparently.

Taeyong likes taking care of his friends

In year 4

taeyong falls in love with divinations

bc it’s so mysterious

and cool

and can pretty much predict the future

and he loves to drink tea and have cookies during class time

awesome

but potion fucking sucks

it’s getting so hard

no fucking dirty thoughts there, my friend, don’t

but Yuta is fucking pro at potions wtf

so they study together a lot

especially during the weekends

bc yuta hates mornings but if he doesn’t wake up early the day is ruined

so tae wakes him the fuck up during the weekends

and helps zombie yuta out of bed

one day Tae sees in Yuta’s teacup something odd

i literally wrote taecup first kpop has ruined me

at the end of year 4, the tea leaves prove themselves true

and Yuta is heartbroken by the fact that Hansol has transfered school

and Tae comforts the shit out of Yuta 

with cuddles

and ice cream

and by distracting his best friend with homework 

and he even goes as far to discuss quidditch strategies with yuta

he fucking hates quidditch

but for his friends? he’ll do anything

In the summer between year 4 and 5,

Yuta, the fucking snake, convinces Jaejoong that it would be an amazing idea to bleach Taeyong’s hair

and tae is like ‘uh????? hell no???’

bc he doesn’t like people touching his things

especially his hair

he’s sensitive af

but somehow

definitely not a promise abt a new stereo system by his dad

Jaejoong convinces his son to bleach it

and it turns out amazing

according to yuta at least

taeyong isn’t so sure tbh

he looks even more unapproachable

intimidating af

enough to freak tae out every time he sees himself in the mirror

but yuta’s like

“don’t worry, chicks’ll dig it”

taeyong isn’t really comforted by that idea

on the ride back to school, he promptly freaks out a lil bit after people stared at him wide eyed at Kings Cross

but tae’s come a far away from his 11 y/o tail-between-the-legs puppy

he’s a tail-between-the-legs doggo now

and can kinda take the looks he’s getting

every time Taeyong’s unsure of himself

yuta’s there to give him a too big smile

the feeeelllllssssssss

taeyong’s also appointed prefect

he’s so shocked

“me? keep order? what?”

but Yuta’s like 

*healing smile*

and T-Yong does an amazing job at keeping others in line

it gives him confidence when people respect him

and when his housemates come to him for questions

especially underclassmen

they are so cute

“why are you so obsessed with the smol people?” Yuta asks

“i need to take care of them”

but he fucking stutters or drools when he has to scold upperclassmen

they’re so big

tae is still smol

he hasn’t gotten his major growth spurt yet

and he’s upset yuta had his over the summer

whilst tae stays smol

he will always be my smol bean

Taeyong decides to keep his hair tho

even in 6th year

bc he accepts that he looks scary af

bc he’s surer of himself and not as shy

shy shy shy

it might also be bc a certain gryffindor told him it looks cool

tae lowkey obsesses over this lil gryffindor

thats two years younger than him

but so adorable

he finds out the gryffindor’s name is jaehyun

obvs not from yuta bc yuta is a snake and would tease him

but from a lil hufflepuff bebe he helps out with charms homework in exchange for this crucial information

this gryffindor likes quidditch

so tae tries to casually throw in his impressive quidditch knowledge to talk to jaehyun

remember the summer tae spent comforting yuta? 

yea that wasn’t too bad now that tae thinks abt it

except

jaehyun is kinda into this other dude in slytherin

and no matter what tae does

jaehyun doesn’t look at him like he looks at doyoung

so tae sulks

aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

he probs cries too

so emotional

so soft

so smol

and finally yuta figures out that tae has a serious crush

his first serious crush

Yuta’s all like

“my lil bun”

same yuta same

BUT

HE SUDDENLY GETS HIS GROWTH SPURT

LIKE

IN THE SPAN OF TWO MONTHS HE’S GROWN TO 175CM

which isn’t all that much considering some of the other people in his year

cough johnny cough

but he’s so happy abt that so who cares

taeil’s graduation comes

and he cries

like the baby he is

and clutches onto taeil’s robes hard enough to lift the short older boy up

he’s not used to being so big

and almost crushes taeil with his new found strength

yuta thinks he’s weird

Year 7

oh no fuck 

it’s exam time

Tae isn’t too stressed

he’s not really planning on doing anything particularly hard

but he likes the idea of cooking

and opening his own lil restaurant or something

but fuck potions

potions is fucking him the fuck over and even with yuta’s expert potions skills

he’s almost failing

also, fuck

he’s elected HeAD BOY

more like boiiiiiiiii

he’s so honoured

and even though he didn’t really want it

he cries during his speech

bc “thank you so much for trusting me, everyone”

TTTT-TTTT

and he takes care of everyone 1000000000000%

so sweet

such mommy

but this year gets better

bc Jaehyun notices him

and stuff happens 

especially after Tae

ever the klutz

accidentally spills fruit punch all over Jaehyun over the christmas break

(he’s staying over bc he feels the responsibility of overseeing the other hufflepuff’s who are staying that they have a nice and cozy christmas too

he organises a gd party and secret santa and games and gives everyone a present and a stocking and gives a long ass speech about love and serenity and shit)

but jaehyun is so nice and laughs it off

but tae helps the gryffindor wash out the stains in the bathroom

and they just click

finally

and Tae goes to every single one of Jaehyun’s games

and cheers for Jaehyun with banners and hats and fireworks

even when he’s facing Yuta

but not when he’s going against Hufflepuff

bc as head boy

tae’s gotta support his family bruv

but he always wears a lil badge with Jaehyun’s jersey number during those games

shit gets serious when Tae suddenly,

like grown ass seventeen year old tae,

climbs into Yuta’s bed in the middle of the night

like he used to do in second year

and Yuta’s so fucking confused

cuz they don’t do impromptu sleep overs anymore

(there was in incident)

but Tae is freeaaaking ouuuttt

“What the fuck, bro?” 

“Bro.”

“What?”

“Jaehyun-”

“What happened?”

Yuta’s suddenly all defensive and is in total war mode

bc no one hurts his bebe T-Yong

except

“Jaehyun just kissed me.”

and cue yuta’s too-big-smile

bc tae is freaking out over his first ever kiss

and this is amazing

and Yuta is so excited and pulls taeyong into the biggest cuddle ever

“MY SMOL BEAN HAS GROWN UP”

“i’m older than you”

“shh”

this is too cute my heart hurts

and Tae’s never been happier

even though he barely passes his potions N.E.W.T.’s

and graduation is so emotional

his father comes

and performs his latest rock song

bc he’s fucking embarrassing

but taeyong cries

he’s so touched

and yuta also cries

which makes tae cry harder

and younger hufflepuff’s that he’s taken care of cry

they also give him flowers

and good luck on his internship at the hottest wizarding restaurant in London

taeyong sobs

ugly and snotty

and jaehyun just laughs at him so much

and they go all go to Tae’s childhood hosue

and Jaejoong and tae cook for everyone

and it’s so different from all the meals with just him and his dad

he has so many friends

a large, extended family

and so much love

and he cries again chopping the onions

and jaehyun comes to snake his arms around his boyfriend’s waist

“are you crying because you’re t-yongie or because of the onions?” 

“i’m t-yongie” tae sobs

it’s too cute

and jaehyun laughs at this adorable lil baby

Okay so yuri on ice star trek AU?

In which Viktor is the darling of Starfleet, he was the youngest captain ever, millions of successful missions, a joy to be around, great professionally, great for the media, all that jazz

he’s like the fave of everyone on and off Earth

so when Starfleet is planning their first five-year mission with their newest ship, it’s obvious who will get the honour of leading said mission

and when Viktor wants to choose the members of his senior staff of course he is allowed

for the head of the engineering division he gets Christophe Giacometti, which isn’t very surprising because the two of them are known to be friends and Chris is arguably the best engineer in Starfleet, even though he’s had problems because of his unconventional methods and his overt love for machineries

Yuri Plisetsky, the teenage genius for the navigator’s position, which was an understandable choice as well, though Starfleet command did mull over the request for a while, because of Yuri’s age. But it was quite obvious that something had to be done with the kid because the second he wasn’t challanged he became unmanagable

taking Otabek Altin, the promising half vulcan for helmsman causes a bit of a stir because many captains were eager to get their hands on him after he graduated; but celebrated captain, newest ship, five-year mission: case won

Phichit Chulanont, communications officer, was already a(n urban) legend during his academy days because of the number of languages he spoke. There was an official record somewhere but that wasn’t completely truthful either because it only included the languages he learnt but not the ones he kinda picked up while making friends with students from different countries/planets. He also had a sixth sense when it came to devices used for communication

Mila Babicheva, CMO, the only one who’s worked with Viktor for the majority of their service (so she should be around Viktor’s age sorry Mila) She’s stated that she was immune to Viktor’s charms - bullshit, she said bullshit - and was probably the only one who could get Viktor to attend the compulsory check-ups, and whose judgement Viktor would always accept

Georgi Popovich, head nurse; package deal with Mila. The two of them complement and annoy each other endlessly. Also, Georgi has appropriate bedside manner, Mila does not.

Katsuki Yuuri, science officer/ first officer, but why? (is what he asks himself) Was one of the top graduates in his year with high expectations from his superiors and peers which he did not live up to. Although he had a reputation (and grades to prove that) of identifying space anomalies with little to no mistake and making correct assumptions about unknown phenomena, he  failed to do so consistently during actual missions. He requested his reassignment to the reasearch division that stayed on Earth. (his articles and findings have been widely referenced since)

Sara Crispino, chief of security, Seung-Gil Lee, her number two. People usually assume that Sara is easier to deal with. They’re wrong.
