Finished Shirt (sort of)
I finally finished the sewing parts of the shirt I was working on for myself! It's not perfect, and there are definitely places I want to try to do better with next time, but for the first article of clothing I've ever sewn, and a more complicated one at that, I'm very proud of it. All that's left to actually finish it are the closures, and instead of buttons I'm doing snaps. I have some ordered and on the way, but for now it's at least off the sewing machine.

Finally got to weaving in the ends. Now to soak that bitch and block it and then measure how wide the chest panel needs to be 💪

Thought I would try to get through some sewing block issues by doing a simple project and decided to make a long pleated wool skirt. I wouldn’t even need a pattern! And I even had this great spruce green wool twill fabric I got for $20 at a thrift store!
Of course when I started I did not realize that I should hand baste all 31 pleats… 😭 It is a simple project but NOT a fast one.

Making your own clothes is GREAT bc like. You go to the function and someone compliments you and you get to say ‘thanks I made it myself’ and like. It’s true!! You did!!! You made it yourself!!!!

It’s not quite large enough but I’m pretty damn close to make a pocket large enough to hold the Silmarillion!
Next time I’ll make the side opening a centimetre or two longer and it’ll fit like a glove!

My restyle + homemade outfit for draculaura. The top is a piece of lace I thought looked like a barlette top. The bottom is just some random thing I did. I had made a fee circle skirts before this, so I wanted to try a different silhouette. I ended up giving her a bustle, I guess. No tutorials used for this outfit.
Her hair was quite the journey, too. She is a creepover drac, so she had these little hair buns. I took them out and straightened her hair with the boil method. It took a few days till it was finally straight, but then I had to clean up the part line since the colors had gotten a bit mixed. That's when I learned that the part wasn't done perfectly by the manufacturers. There was a bit of pink in the black section. I ended up plucking a bunch of it to get a clean part line. And I did all this because this is the only drac I could get my hands on with a split dye and no bangs. Bought her at full retail price too.
Her shoes are from rainbow high btw

Had my partner take some glamor shots of the Artist’s Box Top Dress that I finished last week. I’m wearing it now at the family barbecue and it’s so comfy. I’m really happy with it!
I made the smallest size in oxblood linen from Merchant & Mills. I did take the waist in a bit after I finished because I didn’t want it to be that boxy. Overall super easy and satisfying pattern. I plan to make the peplum top from the same pattern at some point

Winter successes and failures
What have I been up to during winter hibernation? While I am behind on some of my winter projects, I was able to finish up a #Butterick retro sweater dress, a #VeronikaSkirt and another #Vogue top for the season.

Used a Wild Hearts Crew doll to make a doll version of my gf since she has a similar zonal dye that usually blue. Made her a floppy hat with felt. Figured out how to make it myself and the lace was just some lace I got at a dollar store.
Also made her a felt skirt since it keeps a good shape. Made a little poodle, so now it's a poodle skirt. The shirt in the photo is just a sock tied up. It has been replaced with a nicer top I made.
Fun fact, I have three wild hearts crew dolls and this one was initially my least favorite. But since I made it look like my gf she is now my favorite of the three
