✧ ✧ Flashback ✧ ✧ to the end of our first year homeschooling in 2014 Homeschool Family Photoshoot (organized by a sweet mama who has since stopped hsling, since we started 5 yrs ago)🕊. M was finishing up what would be considered in PS prek, and E Kindergarten... I can’t begin to tell you the massive transformation I underwent that year, and how Homeschool rocked every part of our family in the best way. From healing my inner p e r f e c t i on ism issues (and inadequacy fears I had no idea were lingering into motherhood), to REALLY digging into some self limiting beliefs I thought I had already conquered by ’JUST’ taking the leap into homeschooling; but only really addressing them - when they came back to visit during some triggering times my first year (end of the year, start of a PS break, holidays, or hard days where things felt like chaos or I felt COMPLETELY lost!). It ushered me into a w h o l e new phase of mother + womanhood. I love seeing how much my babes have grown physically and who they are E X P A N D I N G into as beings ✨. Here I remember E was sooo attached to his hair as a sort of self-protective mechanism, because he didn’t want to be SEEN. Now he’s rocking a short hair cut - no longer feeling the need to make his hair into a shield 🛡to hide himself... M was very insecure and hardly ever spoke up to us about what she wanted, and much less to those around her. Now she’s a confident, designing, sewing and assertive little babe flexing her gifts and wanting to share them with the world - while expressing herself eloquently even on YouTube! My heart is so full. It’s the things you can’t measure paired with the other concrete gains - that makes looking back on the Homeschool path MAGICAL. We’ve been so consumed house hunting, but I can’t wait to get a photo sesh in somehow this summer. In my YouTube video today I mention that M found an old camera with pictures of our #homeschoolroom from before it was a #homeschoolspace (!) . . I’m still trying to find the cable so I can download them into my computer... but I just had to share them with you anyway I can do that you can see the difference. Also look how tiny they are? 💗💗 . . s w i p e >> for a few more shots. Before we turned it into our hub for all of our supplies and things... it was a playroom with their toddler beds 🛏 turned into a reading couch sort of day bed. . . In the part 2 video you’ll see we kept the green rug here because repurposing anything g you can helps out sooo much when you’re just starting out. You also DONT NEED a room to start homeschooling. We were just blessed to have a spare room to use. You can use a bin by your coach, your dining room table and a buffet... a cabinet in the kitchen or an old dresser to store things. Even a hallway closet. If you do have space you can use - or even a corner in a room... in a big believer in creating designated intentional spaces for things to help decrease stress in searching for things AND because spiritually when we create space for an area of our life I’m a big believer the universe & our guides take notice... and it sends a powerful energetic message out. . . And it does help ✨you in your path. . . 👣 do you know how long I tip-toeed, tried, and mulled over #homeschooling before I finally decided to #goallin ? A year and a half.. . . But there came a decisive time where I KNEW there was no other option. Life signs, circumstances and time revealed the answer - and in that waiting and trusting period that the correct choice would be shown to us I was patient and also keenly observing to my children and the messages through people, places and the stirrings of my own inner heart 🖤. . . It was not easy! I’m usually pretty quick and decisive in my decision making - but this new way of life requires another way... . . Most importantly once I finally decided to commit to our #homeschooljourney I had to step out in faith... and trust that what we needed would rise up to meet us. Just like a staircase... . . I finished reading #a literary education by #emilycook this weekend 📚. . . This #charlottemasonquote was one of the many she referenced that just spoke and tied in all of the things she talks about in the book. It’s a very encouraging read with just the right amount of suggestions and #homeschoolmama wisdom we all need throughout our days. s l i d e to see the cover >> . . She’s the creator of the #buildyourlibrarycurriculum we’re using level 2 and reading her whys and how’s in her #homeschoolpath really made how the curriculum is set up and the choices she made for literature much clearer. . . I never thought of us as being #literaryhomeschoolers but this is exactly what we’ve been in varying degrees since nice starting our path 5 years ago. I love how she shows the deep ways this can be incorporated more in the day and the long term benefits and implications or reading great literature & #readingaloud . . .
