about self: tabby : tabby : just because i’m a new addition to the cosmos, doesn’t mean that you, or anyone else, can try to pull one over on me. i’m a lot smarter than people give me credit for ! i have all of calico’s brains and none of her fear of confrontation. i say what i want when i want it. 

about self: memory loss : there’s a lot of things that i’m supposed to remember, but a lot of it eludes me to this day. a lot of doctors have given their two cents about it, including people that i’m sure  you know, but in the end, no one can truly know why so much is missing within me. unless they were on that dead planet with me, of course.

chat: planetary protection division : the ipc sends us out when a world has gone through a crisis and may not have the ability to pick itself back up. we collaborate with a lot of the ipc, including the strategic investment department and the intelligentsia guild. whatever we need to help a world, if we don’t have it, the other factions do.

chat: ipc : the ipc is filled with interesting members ! topaz and i are relatively close, and i’ve met aventurine a few times. now, that doctor.. i’ve met him more times than i can count, and every time has been… enlightening, to say the least.

tabby: enlightening ? you’re too busy ogling him to pay attention to what he’s saying.

hobbies : getting a cat nap in when i can is the only way i can keep up my strength, after all, i wanna be at peak performance in case anything happens. sleeping is so nice, you can go anywhere and be anyone in your dreams ~ 

tabby : i like collecting keychains ! i have a dozen probably from different planets that we’ve visted. i don’t have anything ot even put them on, i just have a bunch of them. 

annoyances : those times where you swear you have an hour left to nap but then your alarm rings.. the worst ever. 

something to share : the easiest way of taking care of yourself is to go about everything one step at a time. can’t get out of bed ? just wiggle your toes, or stretch. you’ll get there.

knowledge : the human body is beautifully resilient. you can go through hell and return still standing on your own feet. there’s nothing you can’t do if you put your mind to it. 

about dr. ratio : ah, the doctor within the intelligentsia guild, a man of knowledge.. as elusive as he is, uhm, interesting.

tabby : and by ‘interesting’ you mean ‘handsome’. you can just say what you mean, calico.

about aventurine : i’ve never been in his shoes, so i don’t know what he’s gone through personally. i feel as though my amnesia makes me lucky comparatively. i don’t have to remember what i’ve been through.

about topaz : her love for anything cute and fluffy is adorable. one time, i bought her a fuzzy keychain from a planet i visited, and i swear i saw her tear up.

about raun mei : she is.. beautiful, from a distance. i can’t bring myself to approach her. life.. is more than an experiment. 

eidolon activation : the parts of me that i’ll never understand, why do you slumber ?

Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? It's hard to say these days. I like dynamic characters because I've hit too many walls over the years where threads stagnate because neither me nor my partner are able to move the scene in a meaningful way. I'm here to have fun, not slog through threads just to get the point at the end, so writing lively, aggressive, or bratty characters has allowed me to always have an emergency button on hand. Outside of that, I enjoy the concept of leadership in a guardian sense. What it means to protect a community, etc. I don't like writing kings and queens, so I prefer characters who have this on a smaller scale. Perne, for example, who leads the Dandelion Gang. I've also joked with Rai that I tend to pick up men who are subservient to some sort of powerful woman. With that said, lately I've been feeling the itch to return to my roots as a melancholy knight writer.

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? I think I could give anything a good run if I tried

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? Sceeeeenes. I love describing vistas. I love placing characters in a fleshed out world. No one exists in a vacuum, and how characters arrange themselves and interact with the environment around them is just as important as what they're doing and thinking.

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? Not at the moment. For Griss, I always take scenarios as they come, and that usually evolves into new and unexpected things

Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? It used to be serious knightly types, but I think since TOA, I've gravitated more toward characters who are confrontational or can stir up the status quo.

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? Past tense!! Past tense!!! I usually try to match my partner so I almost never get to write in past tense these days, but my writing comes so much more easily in past tense. I also enjoy writing grand, sweeping scenes and descriptions of places/things.

Favorite TOA-related memory: Team Justice during Lock & Key is still my favorite event experience to this day.

JACK RACKHAM: HONKAI STAR RAIL VERSE.

Captain 'Calico Jack' Rackham of the Colonial Dawn. Pirate captain more known for his wordplay than his swordplay, lingering somewhere on the IPC's wanted list, though he's more peturbed by his placement than actual being there at all. Spends his time travelling space with his crew, docking where he can for a little chaos and disappearing before The IPC appear.

The Path of Erudition | Quantum Element | ☆☆☆☆☆

Character Details.

A tall male with a propensity to style himself in a peacock-like fashion, owing to his family history in the textile and tailoring trades. He captains his own ship, The Colonial Dawn, though formerly served upon the crew of The Ranger. Charles Vane, his former captain, is described to this day as his closest friend, though when asked for further information he will clam up. Though clever, he can often provoke the worst in others, so occasionally one may hear the ringing of an expletive in the air followed by his name.

"We're all villains in Nassau. Don't think because you're new you're any different."

Character Story I.

"Throw him in the cell..." The Lieutenant gestures for the boy to be tossed in amongst others who are gathered, the latest round of those collected for failing to pay their tithes to the Master of the town. The guard holding the boy guides him to the cell, a pang of sympathy in his chest. How horrendously unfair that not a day after burying his father he has been summoned for a debt he will never hope to repay. "What'chu moping around for? They'll all get service. The Master needs bodies."

Character Story II.

Log: Shift 7, Cycle 4. Gamma Quadrant. Captain's Log: John Rackham, Insubordination. Gambling. Deserting one's post. Verbal assault that led to physical exchanges. The offender is currently at an unknown whereabouts after abandoning his team and yelling expletives to the tone of resignation and disgust for the IPC's Marketing Development Department. He is also suspected of being involved in the murder of James Bonny, owner of The Watering Hole tavern. Missing is his wife Anne Bonny, believed to have scarpered with John Rackham upon his departure from planetary space. It is believed The Ranger vessel, owned by one notorious Charles Vane may have been involved. Oswaldo has been informed. Rackham now lingers on the wanted list, reading to return to his home planet to face trial. If found guilty, he will be heading for the noose. End Log.

Character Story III.

"Look at you, every reason to go running from each other yet here you are thick as thieves..." The captain drinks deeply from his tankard, smoke curling around his head. Before him sits two figures, hesitating in raising their own lest violence outbreak. What once was fruitious has turned sour, a deal changing the course of their dynamic on the head of a pin. Calico thought it might have been the end of him then, yet here he sits, waiting with baited breath. Anne sits beside him, hand clutched around the knife. She'll die before losing him. "Stand." The order is clear and offers no quarter. He expects a knife at his throat not arms around his shoulders. A hand clapping on his back. "I'm repairing your reputations. Let Calico Jack and Charles Vane be friends once more."

Character Story IV.

The box sits in the Captain's Quarters, chained and padlocked to the floor. It is untouched. The key that opens it hidden out in deep space, nowhere to be seen. Some nights the captain stares at the chest, the ornate lock, the weathered frame, other nights he covers it with a cloth, hides it away from the world, unable to bear the sight of it. The crew asked him once, what was in the box. He had smiled, a morose thing, a grief in his gaze that could not be quelled, and downed his drink in one gulp. "Charles Vane's sacrifice is in that box. Along with my good name. Those sacred things that I trust in no man's hands."

Light Cone: Nothing but Name and Wits.

Pictured: Two captains sitting opposed to one another as a faceless crew stands above them in a ring. Between them is a small table on which lie two pistols and two sabers. It is clearly a sign that one crew is about to be overtaken by the other. The one with his back to the card is broad and seaworn, clearly no stranger to captaincy. The other thin and yet unshaken despite how recent he is to his role. In his hand that has slipped beneath the table he holds a razor. "You cannot imagine what I’ve sacrificed to gain this captaincy. I may have lost the only person in the world I cared for to gain this captaincy. I cannot lose it. Not so soon. Not like this." The opposite captain laughs and shrugs as though this is simply is how things are at sea. He is still laughing when the razor glints in the sunlight, drawn forth by the one underestimated by all, until he can laugh no more.

Calico and Tabby ★★★★★

Preservation — Physical Faction : Planetary Protection Division Obtained On : 20XX-XX-XX Character Introduction : Two sisters working with the IPC; they’re always close to each other, never straying apart for long. Two bright, eccentric personalities, one girl dances around telling her exact feelings, while the other tells it as it is without hesitation.

Character Story I : ( Unlocked at Character Level 20 )

XX-XX-XXXX : patient has not woken up from her state of comatose since we found her on the dead planet. eye witnesses say she was awake when they found her, but she passed out from exhaustion soon after. we have reason to suspect she dropped her survival instincts, and her body’s exhaustion caught up to her. we don’t know when she’ll wake up, if she even will, but we are doing tests around the clock to check on the long-term affects of being on a dead planet long after a stellaron crisis. some of her wounds are scarred over so many times we cannot get a date on how long she’s been there, but documents have proof that the stellaron burst on the planet that caused the explosion happened at least two hundred years ago.

XX-XX-XXXX : we found… anomalies within her body while she has been out. the majority of her body’s muscles are comprised of scar tissues deep within the layer of her skin, and she is missing.. her entire uterus, with serious scarring all around that area. we have ideas of what happened, but none of us are willing to voice our concerns because all of our ideas are graphic and terrifying to think about. she still has not woken up, and we are beginning to suspect there are serious injuries inside of her brain as well. perhaps a lack of proper food and sleep have diminished her cognitive abilities, or at the very least, could explain why she is in a coma currently. until we have more information, we do not know what happened to her on that planet. regardless, we’re all in an agreement: whatever she went through, it was hell on earth. i believe an easier fate for her would have been death.

Character Story II : ( Unlocked at Character Level 40 )

XX-XX-XXXX : she has woken up, and seemed a lot calmer talking with us than we initially expected. furthermore, we’ve come to a shocking revelation: she has no memory of her time on that planet after the stellaron explosion. she can only recall her name, calico, and an overwhelming desire to find someone she knew from the planet before the explosion. we have reason to believe that it’s because of the damage to her brain we found during a brain scan, but we’re doing whatever we can to attempt to restore her memories. we have a renowned doctor from the intelligentsia guild is here to study her case, although he refuses to talk with the subject face to face. perhaps he finds her less than ? he’s adamant about the subject remaining unaware of his work here.

XX-XX-XXXX : a week after she woke up, calico was trying to stand and broke her femur practically in two. her body is so weak right now that she’s struggling to move, but she refuses to give up and continues to push herself. however, when the doctor tried to help her, she insisted that she was okay, even daring to stand up on her own two feet. doctors everywhere were stunned, even i can hardly believe it.  after running some tests, we’ve discovered that the nerve endings in her entire body are not working properly, and her brain no longer sends signals to signify pain. she cuts out the majority of pain from her cognition unless its something detrimental. this is… not a wholesome update to her case. we are worried that she may not ever progress as a normal person again.

Character Story III : ( Unlocked at Character Level 60 )

XX-XX-XXXX : i’ve been.. staying at this hospital for a long time now. doctors walk by and shoot me a look of pity, as if i’m a failed experiment. a lab rat gone wrong. but i won’t give up hope. no matter how much they poke and prod at me, i know.. i know i will get out of here. alive, hopefully. i’ve been regaining my strength, and my stomach can now handle most foods, even if i have to eat in small bursts. apparently, starving does numbers on your ability to eat. i want to get out of his hospital, and make a name for myself out here. perhaps i could join the interastral peace corporation myself. i mean, they were the ones who saved my life, i kind of owe it to them, don’t i ? besides, i've heard talk that they'll wring usefulness out of anything, so saving my life did not come for free, i'm sure. so many people came to help me, including very important people, so i’ve heard, i feel as though i wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the doctors that helped me along the way. i just wonder what i can do, what i bring to the table.. but sitting here beating myself up over my uselessness isn’t going to change anything.

i want to get out of this place, yes. but i think what i want more is to have a normal body, a normal life. i cannot.. no, i won't live like this, unable to find my own path. i'm better than this, i think. i want to be better than this, at least. i've been studying cellular regeneration, and i think i figure it out. i mean, i'm just sitting in a lab every day. i've got the time to figure it out.

Character Story IV : ( Unlocks at Character Level 80 )

XX-XX-XXXX : and here i was, under the impression that your first week alive wouldn't be a hard one ! i've been tested and tested over a million different times, and i still have no idea why at this point. we know what happened, we know why i'm here. she copied her dna and tried to replicate it, but before the cells got swapped over, something went wrong. the experiment didn't stop at just copying her damaged cells, it created all of her cells, which made meeee ! i don't understand why we need to do so many tests. apparently, there's even an important guy from the ipc here to do some tests, but i haven't seen him yet. she likes to avoid him as much as possible, i wonder why. is she nervous ? no. she's not the nervous type. maybe she just doesn't know how to approach him. she's silly like that.

i like her. and i like him too. but, obviously i do. i'm her, everything about me is just her copied over. well, everything is just her except my conversational skills, of course. while we were talking to someone, she was getting uncomfortable, and i could tell that she didn't like this guy very much. so i told him to stop talking to us and that he was making her feel bad. and what did she say to me ? she said " tabby, you can't just say that to people, that makes them feel bad. " but i don't get that line of reasoning. why should she feel bad and not other people ? what's the point of not saying what you mean ?

CALICO — IN REMEMBRANCE OF YOU

sometimes you get images of your past life during the most inopportune times. taking a shower, chatting with a friend, trying to sleep. the latter happens a lot.

you try to close your eyes, to think of something, anything, and your entire body feels like its on fire. it’s freezing in your room - the hospital is always cold, and sterile, and monotone. and yet you have a different recollection of these sensations. dirty and uncomfortable and gritty. you can’t feel your feet but you know they’re there. you hope that they’re there at least, and you can’t bring yourself to look down to check. you’re unsure if its blood or tears running down your cheeks, and wiping it off on the back of your dirty hand doesn’t give you answers. you have to move forward, and you can’t look back. or up, or down. just forward, past the rubble. go past the brutality. past your friends, and family, laying in the ashes.

lost in the night, you stumble forward, desperate to reach something, anything. you think you see something in the distance, a hand reaching out to you, or a god finally taking pity on you after two hundred years. either one is welcome at this point, and so you trudge along. on your bloody feet, leaving behind you a trail of all that you were. all that you’ll ever be will remain on this desolate planet, your history will remain as the unfortunate. they will know your name, they will not know your story. you don’t even know your own story. 

there’s something behind you, it’s presence deadly as it creeps up on you. another living being ? no. something much worse. you’re desperate, you’ve been desperate, trying to find the way out, to run fate away, or to perhaps meet any type of ending. this was a battle you were always destined to lose, and it was cruel of you to yourself to try to keep going. you should’ve died. you think you might have found your end when you feel the creature catch up to you. your body doesn’t fight it, letting it spin you around to face it. when you see it, it's beautiful. a necessary end is always beautiful, and it's red eyes are not as scary up close.

“ shh.. don’t worry, “ the doctor’s voice is soothing, your eyes opening to see his red ones, although your vision is blurry from your tears. words fail you, and he knows. “ i’ve got you. it's just a bad dream. “

CALICO — A SWEET DREAM

in penacony, at a certain store, one could relive the dreams that they'd had long ago.

calico came to the dreamscape to relive.. a certain dream. just one that she'd had that she couldn't have again, no matter how much she tried to think about it.

on her home planet, she was studying for an upcoming college exam. she could hardly understand what the material was saying, much less be able to recall it accurately, but she still tried, despite being in too deep over her head. she pushed the book away, her head hurting as she decided to get a drink.

" calico, have you heard ? " her sister was in the kitchen, just sipping on some juice, " mom and dad are coming to visit soon. they texted me this morning about it. "

" oh ! are they ? " calico asked, grabbing the glass from her sister and taking a sip, before handing it back to her. " do we have any more ? "

" no this is the last glass. " there was a pause, and her sister brought the glass to her lips, chugging the rest of the juice before sitting the empty glass down on the counter. " sorry. we don't have anymore. "

" you're so..! " calico gasped, crossing her arms as she crossed her eyebrows. she knew this conversation like the back of her hand, having gone through it over and over again in her head. " by the way, have you heard of that genius in veritas prime university ? he's from the solar system nearby. apparently he's be awarded the first class honor's degree. you know, the award thats been vacant for two amber eras. "

the doctor that she knew nowadays would probably lose his mind if he knew that she was aware of who he was back then.

" the one with the purple hair ? he looks so... unapproachable, " her sister shook her head, as if dismissing the person entirely outright. " you'd do well to focus better on your studies more than who's actually studying. "

" wh- i never said anything like that ! " calico declared, her face turning bright red. " he looks mean, anyways. messy hair, eyeliner, tongue piercing. couple that with being super smart and you've got a bad recipe, i think. or at least, i don't think he would enjoy my conversations, anyways. besides, the chance of veritas prime university and my university collaborating is slim to none, so there's really no need to worry about it. we may be solar system neighbors, but that doesn't mean that i'll ever get the chance to meet him. "

calico wondered outside of the dream if ratio would be embarrassed that she had been aware of his rebellious phase, although she didn't truly know him. maybe he would try to deny it, maybe he would own up to it. who knew ?

" i thought veritas prime university was hosting a seminar available to all neighboring universities ? perhaps you could go, give that genius a piece of your mind. " her sister suggested, and calico knew that it would never come to pass, but it was a nice idea to think about. " ah, calico, by the way. mom said that you'll be taking flying lessons sometime soon. are you excited ? it'll be your first time on a plane. "

" i don't like heights, and i don't really want to go. " she knew exactly what happened during that flight. the end of her life. but this was a dream, and there was nothing she could do to stop it from happening.

for now, all she could do was enjoy the moment with her sister before it all ended. before she could no longer remember her face, as she had long forgotten her name. she couldn't remember her mother's face, or the warmth of her hold, or the loving gaze of her father. these were memories that she lost deep within her subconscious, a dream that she could never have again.

she wanted to live in this bliss forever. but every dream bubble must pop. she woke up from her dream within a dream, staring at dr. edward.

" did you have a pleasant dream ? "

there tears in her eyes. " yeah. i did. "
