Hoop skirt pic!
I finally freed my dress form from the 3D printing closet!...after I had to dig it and other stuff out to get a kitten away from not good kinda definitely toxic materials. (It's in the closet for a reason.)

Why do directors who hate historical fashion and history make films set in history and then change the historical accuracy of the costuming, characterization or aesthetics to fit their personal tastes like. why. What's the point just don't make a historical film

Also I like to think Emara ditched the hoop skirt like a hundred years prior to Half Heart because Ujvalux was like "Maybe humans would like you more if you tried at least a little to keep up with the times. That hoopskirt is so 1010s" and Emara felt self conscious lmao

I ask the people:
pictures and discussion under the cut
Late victorian walking skirt
I've got options here. The main upside is that I would actually wear this like. to go outside. (photo is from Bernadette Banner) the downside is: boring (compared to these others)
15th century
I could rock the SHIT out of the high neckline high waist dress over here. Unfortunately this would take So Much Fabric and an entirely new set of underlayers probably. More or less the same problem with the gents with the other point of dagged edges? Sexy.
Regency Gent
(Photo is Pinsent Tailoring). TBH this thought was brought about by the fact I have to flip up a shirt collar to put on a tie and it pokes out by my face like these styles do and I went "oh that's a Look." unfortunately, Tailoring scary. Fortunately, they make ALL kinds of good sources for this period.
Regency Lady
Pros: Simple shapes, lots of resources for making these, pretty, I think I would look great in an empire waist
Cons: Basically the same thing as my chemise a la reine and yet it STILL would need an all-new set of undergarments :///

we set up our tables and stuff today (grumble grumble we had issues with the Staff) and while we were doing that we were under tornado watch and the sirens went off twice so that's cool. spent my whole morning in a panicked state and now I'm at work for the next four hours and then we get to wake up at 6 am tomorrow and actually put our stuff out at the con and then WORKING and then I have to work a 32 hour week staring the immediate day after. kill me

This is probably the best circle skirt I have cut. I know it doesn’t sound like much but somehow I have messed up several in past years. This one is juuuuust right.

Not much to show of late. But I've spent all day in my sewing room and working on my hoop petti. But we also did some running around as well.
This is where I'm at with my hoop skirt! I cut the first hoop earlier after wasting at least 3 hours with some really low quality twill tape that meant a trip to the fabric store for bias tape instead. With that in hand I then, instead of working further decided to tackle my organization instead, going through my sewing supplies and sorting through them and finding new homes for them.
Now, as for the other running around, we finally got the male fosters neutered!
No chance of our female kitten providing us with **even more** kittens. So that's good at least!
For now I'm gonna try to actually get this skirt going again before I do some more pattern work.
