Lore for my empiressona? More common than you'd think:

Nox is originally a Stratos citizen, born in the village under it. She was very protected as a child and was sick of all the fussing around. So she vowed to become fully independent and become an explorer of the worst areas people don't dare to step in. Ofc everyone was like "dude no" She was like "fuck u"

So grown up Nox regularly travels and resides in the deep dark, more specifically the ancient cities. They are proper cities, although cracked in some spaces. And the excess amount of wool provides enough comfort. It's very lonely down there but it's not usually that noticeable. She collects a load of the loot in the abandoned cities and is very skilled at it.

Already rich enough to own netherite tools (she doesn't care for armour, it ruins her clothes) she travels back to the aboveground to sell some of her wares. Or give it to passing children who look in wonder as she tells her stories with the items brought from the depths of the earth.

She tells stories about how a warden lies sleeping beneath the soft skulk, the noises of water dripping from stalagtites calming the great creature. The footsteps of a brave wanderer awakened it and it slowly rose up sniffing above the layer of skulk. The beast climbed up and felt the fear emitting from the human and slowly trudged over to it-

"what does trudge mean?!" one shouted

Walked over to it. It sniffed around as the human stood deathly still, and made a funny little noise. It was annoyed at being woken up! don't you get annoyed when your ma wakes you up early for harvest? So was the warden! it wasn't able to see the human, so it just left some baked potatos for it and went back to bed under the soft wool and skulk. And my dears look what I have here! potatoes freshly gifted from the warden!

the little children rushed over in excitement and shared the basket of potatoes. She smiled and sat within the chattering circle, a moment of relaxation from her usual travels.

Her ears stopped working quite a while ago. Not fully, but enough to not hear a particularly low pitched person. to amend that she traded some of her many books to an interested little researcher who fashioned up an earpiece for her. It worked quite well, sometimes a little rusty but nothing a good oiling and a bit of tinkering couldn't fix.

She now spends her days in the newly built taverns across empires. Her favorites are the Dawn and Stratos taverns but shhh don't tell anyone. Also helps with the rulers if they require any finniky goods to gather from her "homeland" the underground. Gets annoyed at requests purely because they're lazy to get it even with better tools glares at joel

Her favorite things to do are lay in the grass with a nice cold glass of champagne with music on, and trying to tame and train wardens. Has succeeded only twice but they're more rabid than a pair of wild baby wolves. Loves them to death (literally), their names are Radon and Valour.

For anyone who missed my video, here is the written review! You may not know, but I’m someone who strives to make accessible beauty content for disabled shoppers (my videos are captioned and I transcribe things for people who are low vision and still want to learn about products and brands). So you have no idea how excited I was to see the braille on the serum box! Sadly though it wasn’t on both products, and I think if a brand is wanting to be inclusive, all their products should need to be, not just one. I really hope the company will do it on their whole line of products, since people who are low vision or blind enjoy skincare just as much as the rest of us.

Now on to the actual products. Both were incredibly lightweight and absorbed into my skin pretty easily. The serum has super hydrating ingredients: glycerin, ceramide, and panthenol. It is worth noting that the main ingredients from the cream are pine leaf oil and extract to help with skin inflammation (such as acne or irritation like eczema). Now I do have eczema, and I did have a reaction to this. There sadly is no ‘one size fits all’ treatment ingredient as what works for one person may not work for another, even if you have similar skin types. Just because this didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else with eczema. This also features the AHA Citric acid which means this is a gentle chemical exfoliating cream for anyone who dislikes the textures of scrubs.

I also use AudioShell ( ) sometimes – I can find the file in Everything, right click, audio shell, edit tags which included a lyrics tab. LeosLyrics also allows me to edit lyrics on the fly – just edit and click save. In WinAmp I use LeosLyrics plugin to display embedded lyrics (years ago it used to scrap for missing lyrics, but that functionality is long dead). I use Mp3Tag ( – again, mine is portable) to display the unsynched lyrics tag which I can sort on, and also search for weird characters, and I can, one by one, clean up lyrics here if I want to). So I use LyricsFinder ( : I extracted with universal extractor and it works as portable) to find and embed. I do not want it embedding ratings or play counts or anything. Personally, I don’t want my player touching ANY of my naming or id3 tags. (and then there are individual lyric files for karaoke or synced ones – I don’t know about these, I don’t use them). You can either display embedded lyrics, or show lyrics on the fly by scraping the internet, or a combination where if there are no embedded lyrics, it will scrape them and stick them in for you for future proofing. A/N: Well hello there again my fellow mustache fruit enthusiasts! Thank you all for your incredible support on my work so far ! This is once again a Tangerine x Tabasco story. Just a little warning, I wrote this at 2am in my notes app and it’s not proof read.

Summary: The brothers are on a mission to retrieve a key from a target, but they don’t seem to be the only ones assigned to the mission

This certainly was neither Lemon’s nor Tangerine’s scene. Around them were various people , dressed in their fanciest attire, clad in jewellery which was probably more worth than anything the brothers have ever owned. The walls around them were made out of marble , various paintings in heavy golden frames decorating them and in the middle of the room was a huge crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The light dim but yet bright enough to make each and every expensive treasure in the room sparkle and shine. “There is no way these people will buy this shit.” Lemon muttered through gritted teeth , stretching his arms to show off the suit he was wearing. The suit was by no means cheap , but compared to what the other guests were wearing , Lemon looked like a goldfish in a coral reef. Unspectacular, out of place and simply underwhelming. “Aaah , come on bruv.” Tangerine huffed , throwing a glance over his shoulder , adjusting the sleeves of his blue suit “ I think we look quite dashing.” Turning his head back around , his smirk is met with Lemon’s arched eyebrow and a deadly stare,followed by a grumpy “Fuck off.” Opening his mouth for a snarky comeback, Tangerine’s phone rings and without even looking at the caller’s ID he accepts the call. “The target has arrived , he is wearing a red velvet suit. I want you to extract that key from him, dead or alive.” Without any further instructions the phone line goes dead. Glancing around the room in search for the target , Tangerine leans towards his brother, whispering “Key’s on a red velvet guy.” He can feel his brother’s eyes on him. “A fucking mission for a key. I sure hope that thing is actually important.” “Well, it surely won’t be the key for the lock to his fucking bicycle.” The brunette mutters ,meeting Lemon’s gaze for a second before straightening his posture, ready to get the job done. Finding their target turned out to be the easiest part of their task. Not only because the bright red velvet suit was quite a bold fashion statement , but also because the man seemed to love mingling with each and every single one of the guests at the gala. The latter though was a problem because getting the man alone or pulling him away from the crowd simply seemed to be impossible. “He’s leaving the room.” “What?” Tangerine whipped around , facing his brother who seemingly just spawned next to him at the bar. “He’s leaving the room with a chick on his arm.” Lemon pointed out , subtly nudging his head to the right. And indeed Mr. Velvet Suit was on his way to one of the backrooms of the gallery , a woman confidently walking right next to him. And if it wasn’t for the importance of the mission, or rather the importance of the money it would bring into the brothers‘ bank account, Tangerine would have allowed himself to take in her form just a little bit longer. Noticing the hungry and slightly dazed look in his brother’s gaze , Lemon smirked, deciding to give his brother a little bit longer to collect his seemingly reeling thoughts. After a few seconds , he raised his hand , clapping the brunette man on the shoulder. ”So , what‘s the plan?“ Clearing his throat, Tangerine turned to him. ”I think the room they are retreating to is showcasing some old Roman artefacts. We‘ll give them a minute and then go in there , pretending to be interested im whatever shit is put on display and when the moment is right , we take on that bastard and get that fucking key.“ Letting his hand drop from Tangerine‘s shoulder , Lemon throws him another deadly stare. ”I don‘t know shit about the Romans , man. “ Shrugging, Tangerine answers “Me neither , but they are long dead , so it’s not like any Romans can judge us, right ?” Glancing at the watch on his wrist, he motions for Lemon to start with the plan.

But before the two men can enter the gallery’s backroom , they hear the all too familiar noise of a fight, crashing and yelps indicating that someone is currently struggling. Turning the corner , the brothers can finally see who exactly is causing the noise. The man in the red velvet suit stands pressed against one of the glass display cases, his back slightly arching over its sharp corner. Keeping him in place is the mysterious woman, one leg slung around his,pressing herself against him whilst twisting the heavy golden necklace the man is wearing around his neck in a tight grip, pulling his head backwards, making him claw at his throat for air. Her free hand traveled seductively over the man’s chest, sly fingers quickly finding the inside pocket of his suit jacket and retrieving the key which was safely tucked away right there. Caught in a trance , the brothers can’t help but to watch how the woman places a kiss onto the target’s jawline, her lips trailing their path up to his ear, only pulling away to whisper “I am sure there are women out there who’d love to be with an arrogant asshole such as you, but too bad I don’t really care about all of that.” And before either of the brothers could jump into action, she forcefully yanked back the necklace within her grip even further, removing her body weight from the target’s , making the man crash down onto the glass display, his body slumping to the floor like a rag doll. Taking a step back she secured the key onto her necklace , safely tucking it into her neckline, and threw one final glance towards the target‘s body. A genuine sigh escaping her lips , when she nudges the red clad man with her foot. „I actually prefer blue.“

Upon hearing the clicking sound of a gun being loaded she swiftly whips around, successfully knocking out one of her attackers , by throwing some artefact right at his head. Holding his gun steady , Tangerine eyes his unconscious brother, feeling anger burning inside his veins. “You fucking bitch!” But before his eyes can meet the woman’s form , he feels the cold material of a metal necklace around his throat. Has he been watching his brother that long? His breathing is cut short and he is knocked onto his knees, his gun slightly wavering in his still aiming hand. “Actually,” the face of the woman comes into sight in the very corner of his eye , leaning around his shoulder “the name is Tabasco. Little Bitch was already taken , unfortunately.” Tangerine would never admit it , but her voice sent a shiver down his back right then and there. Suddenly, Tabasco stepped in front of im, knocked the gun out of his hand and kicked it to the other end of the room. Oh , Tangerine knew he should be worried, maybe even come up with an escape route but no matter how hard he tried , the only route he could trace was the one from Tabasco’s heel up to her thigh exposed by the slit in her dress. He was doomed. He would NEVER admit it. But oh he was doomed and he knew it. The sensation of two fingers on his chin snapped him out of his thoughts. Tabasco was now standing right in front of him , still strangling him with the necklace, tilting his head upwards to meet her gaze. He let his hungry eyes slowly travel her curves , taking in every inch of her until their eyes lock. Time seemed to stand still, there he was, knocked down onto his knees , strangled by the very woman who just prevented him and his brother from getting one of the biggest pay-checks they have received in months and yet somehow , in the most confusing and infuriating way, it just felt right to him. Tangerine has no idea how much time passed and to be honest he doesn’t really want to know about how long exactly he failed to defend himself, when suddenly the pressure around his neck lessens until it is completely gone. Panting and confused he looks back up at Tabasco. The woman only smirks , her eyes traveling his form, before she reaches down and adjusts the collar of his baby blue shirt. Meeting his gaze for the last time she smiles, “See, I always preferred blue.” And with that she takes a step back and turns around, leaving behind an unconscious Lemon and a taken aback Tangerine. Calling over her shoulder, “Maybe you should suggest your boss to add a little bit of spice to the team next time you’re sent on a mission!” , before she disappears into the darkness of the hallway.

Ashour Blog #1 (12 Dec 2020) Operation: Revive the Corrupted Comic Page

So, this is gonna be my first time doing these things. I'm gonna make some blogs here on Tumblr every now and then on somethings I think are worth talking about for some fun. It could be a drawing or a challenge or something about myself I'd share for fun.

I'm also doing this on Tumblr because it's the only place I think it's more suitable to make blogs like these, which I may discuss someday.

I won't be doing this on a daily basis, as not everything's worth talking about, and also I have other things to focus on like studying, so I'm gonna be doing these things if I have the energy to do so.

Today, I did something I have never imagined I'd do one day in my career as a digital artist. So, I was working on a page for a Sonic comic I'm making with one of my friends, the 1st page of the 3rd Chapter of "Sonic X: Christmas Special". I drafted the whole entire thing, inked it, and colored both Tails and our rebooted version of Cosmo.

And then THIS, happened:

The canvas all of the sudden went pitch-black, and all of my progress was lost. It wasn't my fault, since I haven't done anything but apply a filter to a layer. But it was more or less the program's fault, Infinite Painter on Android (sideloaded, yes i use android, and i'm not a fan of ios). The app itself was unstable and there were weird things you could encounter from one time to another, and it could lag like insane depending on your device, even on the Samsung Tab S6 (which i don’t have, but seen footage of it) it was a bit laggy.

Now keep in mind that I was using a Samsung Note 5 with Android 6, so… it is a teeny bit outdated, but I kept it, because it was still usable.

Anyway, I didn't want to delay the page any further because I started on that page like a week ago by the time I'm writing this, so I didn't want to be late with it. And I only had these two to work with:

My plan was to merge the two together and continue from where I left off, rather than starting all over from the beginning.

I can't do that on Infinite Painter because of how unstable it is (i deleted it after the incident), and I could use Medibang, but it's sorta limited for what I want to do. So, I  had no other choice, but to switch to my main drawing program, Krita on Windows, to complete it, as it's like Photoshop, but free and better. And in case you're wondering, yes, I do often switch between my laptop and my phone depending on my mood.

So, I opened up Krita, and imported the only two pictures I had. I had to reposition everything to make everything fit, and remove some of the extra stuff, like Infinite Painter’s UI, and the extra colors I didn’t need. All I needed was the colors of Tails’ workshop from Sonic Adventure.

Now, I know that this sounds like a lot of work, but I got everything done! Alright, not everything, as I had to get rid of those white spaces that kinda made the image look like I extracted the image from a JPEG file. So I had to remove them by painting over them.

And voila! I’ve done the thing! And I even shaded it, too!

It’s then I finished the page till I decided… “Yeah, I’m getting tired right now”. So that’s where I stopped.

And, if there’s anything I’ve learned from all of this, then it’s to choose your tools wisely; you may find a tool you absolutely like for the things it can do, but it could contain a major flaw that would ruin the experience, and Infinite Painter for Android is one of them. I’m not sure if the iOS/iPadOS version is more stable than the Android version, so if it is, then.. I’m a bit jealous lol

It’s a good thing I have Krita, a much more stable program

Connor wrung the cloth, letting water spill through his fingers and splash onto his synthetic skin. He knew what water felt like - the trickling sensations of rain, and the heavy dampness of humidity. He could slow time to a crawl and watch hydrogen bonds forming between droplets or van der Waal forces interacting between his sensors and the stream pouring from the tap.

Connor knew that humans could not observe intermolecular forces, that they could not analyze the amount of water vapour pressing against their skin.

He ran the towel over your curves, erasing the blue from your skin, patting you dry, scrutinizingly placing nanomachine band-aids over any cuts that he could find.

What could a human like you feel?

The temperature of the water or the texture of the cloth?

Or the feeling of Connor’s fingers brushing against you?

Again, Connor blinked at the message in the corner of his vision. The probability that this ‘message’ was a random error had begun to grow further and further from chance, and closer to its occurrence being dependant on you - but why? Why had Connor seen this message four times since meeting you?

He looked over your bare skin one last time, analyzing, discovering. You had scars, marks - intricate and delicate features all canvased across your body. Connor became reminded of art - how each spot seemed to be put in the perfect place, distinguishingly and meaningfully. He wondered if those ‘messages’ had appeared because he thought you were beautiful. Androids always did have the ability to find something aesthetically pleasing - Connor had just never found that ‘something’ until now.

It didn't matter though, he convinced himself until those irritating messages disappeared.

He pulled fresh DCPD sweats over you, letting your unconscious body lean against his as he slipped your arms through the shirt's holes. He carefully slid the pants up your legs, pulling it's drawstring into a neat bow at your navel.

All of these illogical ideas did not matter.

All that did matter was ensuring your help once you woke up.

“She decent?” A voice rang from the other side of the door.

Connor walked over, opening the door to a very impatient gray-haired man. Hank stood, arms crossed, foot tapping - an impressively grumpy scowl across his face.

He paused as he walked into the room, raising an eyebrow. “Phew - you did a good job, huh? You sure you’re not some refurbished cleaning model?”

“Hank.” Connor could barely contain a scoff.

“Heh,” the man chuckled to himself. “How long has she been out now?”

“Nine hours and thirty-one minutes.”

Hank’s grin faded into another scowl. “Damn. GOR’s trail is gonna be cold by the time she does come around.”

Connor went to speak, stopping as your heart rate began to climb and your breathing became quicker. He turned to look at you, pushing his earlier thought processes far from focus.

“Hey, the kid’s awake.” Hank peered at your barely conscious body, folding his arms tightly across his chest again. “She didn’t bump her head or anything did she?”

Connor mirrored the action. “No. I managed to catch her in time.”

Hank’s gaze quickly shifted to Connor, skeptically running up and down his lean frame. He laughed. “With those scrawny arms?”

“Lieutenant,” Connor did scoff this time. “Did you forget I was an android?”

“Ah, screw you.”

Suddenly, your eyes fluttered open, eyelashes illuminated by the LED lights overhead. Connor couldn’t help but commit the color and freckles of your eyes to memory - he didn’t get a chance to notice them the night before.

“Welcome back.” Hank’s expression was soft - contradictory to his irritable one earlier. “You hanging in there?”

Connor continued to monitor your condition. “Her vitals indicate that she isn’t fully awake yet, Lieutenant.”

Hank glanced up, the irritated expression back for a moment before he looked down again. “Cut the formal crap would you? I told you to call me Hank when Fowler isn’t around.”

Cyberlife had programmed Connor to maintain a sense of professionalism - he was the most advanced prototype the company had to offer. Calling the Lieutenant by his first name even when other humans were in proximity conflicted this - but priorities could be changed.

“Sorry...” He began to say, determined to further integrate. “Hank.”

The Lieutenant grinned in response.

Without warning, you sat up - eyes frantically scanning over your hands and then your body. It didn’t take Connor’s analytic abilities to know the question on your mind - “what happened?”

“You’ve been unconscious for nine hours, thirty-two minutes and five seconds.” and 35 milliseconds, Connor thought but did not say aloud. He attempted to smile again, briefly looking up images of ‘friendly smiles’ and trying his best to replicate them. He hypothesized that it was not his smile that Hank didn’t like, or that shocked you the other day - but rather that he had smiled at the wrong time.

But you gasped in response, and Connor’s hypothesis was rejected as fast as you had unknowingly rejected his smile.

“Connor, damn it, you’ve gotta get better at explaining things.” Hank sighed, stepping in to offer an explanation. “Look, I’m Lieutenant Anderson, and if you don’t remember, the pretty boy here is named Connor - we work for the Detroit City PD. We tried to get you out of that crime scene last night but you started screaming - then you passed out. It started when you saw all the thirium so we figured it would be best to clean you up before you came to, but we didn’t have any female staff so-”

“I cleaned you up.” Connor finished, straightening his posture. “I am not a caretaking model by any means, but I think you’ll find your hygienic state satisfactory.”

Your face grew pink - and Connor noticed. Increased heart rate, flushed cheeks - classical symptoms of embarrassment.

“Oh, do not worry. I am a machine after all.” He kept his voice short in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Hank furrowed his brow, lightly kicking the side of Connor’s leg - an indication that he didn’t understand what was going on.

“When I informed her of who cleaned her, I noticed her heart rate elevated.” Connor answered. “So I thought it might assure her to know that, I as a machine, did not try to take advantage of her unconscious state.”

You hid your face and Hank groaned simultaneously.

“Oh, God, Connor!” He landed a hard smack on the android’s back, shaking his hand in pain from the aftershock. “Can you download a subtlety app or something?”

Connor grunted from the impact, hastily queuing social etiquette videos for later analysis.

“... I will make a note of that.”

“Getting this shit show back on track,” the lieutenant sighed as he sat down next to you on the couch. “Can you remember anything of the incident that happened last night?”

“I-” You began to say, but looked as if the words had gotten lost. Instead of finishing your sentence, you sat still - only opening your mouth again to utter the words “I don’t know. I can’t remember.”

“Well, that’s gonna be a problem.” Hank exchanged a meaningful glance with Connor, his lips turning downwards into a frown. “There’s a deviant who goes by the alias of GOR. We’ve been hunting him, but now it looks like he’s hunting you.”

Did Hank think you were withholding information? Connor entertained the idea. “We were able to extract some badly fragmented data from a nearby surveillance camera. The android corpse from the night before protected you - although from the video, its motive is unknown.” He paused, taking a moment to monitor your stress levels.

Almost optimal.

He pushed a bit further. “However, it’s clear that GOR tried to kill you that night.”

Your face became pale again, jaw locked as if you were trying to swallow the information and had choked on it.

Connor reached out, grabbing your hands the way he had when he found you. “You’re trembling.” He spoke softly - it appeared as if you genuinely did not remember.

He had gone too far.

A look of regret flickered across Hank’s face as he realized the same. “It’s a lot to take in kid, don’t force yourself to remember all at once.”

You gulped, blinking hard. “I’m okay.” A whisper escaped your throat. “Please continue.”

Despite your permission, Connor hesitated. You were not a deviant, you would not self-destruct - but something made him falter.

“All of the evidence we have - the android body, the video…” He spoke reluctantly. “It’s the most we’ve had for weeks...”

All that mattered was ensuring your help, he reminded himself. Amanda would overlook these illogical thoughts if he continued to apprehend deviants - especially a deviant like GOR.

“We need your help putting all the pieces together.” His voice took on a convincing tone - although unsure of who exactly he was trying to convince.

But you didn’t respond right away - something was making you falter too. Instead you turned to face the gray-haired man, eyes wide and glossy. “Lieu-”

“Just call me Hank.” He interrupted.

“Hank- what if this GOR hurts you two for being by me? Like the other android…”

Connor froze, having failed to anticipate your response. Hank was a weapons-trained, seasoned officer and Connor was a replaceable machine - an android without emotion or feelings. Why were you concerned?

“You don’t need to worry about that.” Hank spoke first. “Me and pretty boy would never let some deviant prick get to us. Anyways, decide if you wanna help or not, but I’ve got shit to do.” He stood from the couch, making his way to the door. “Tell Connor when you’re ready.”

Connor watched as Hank's back disappeared from sight, more and more questions beginning to formulate and surface into his vision. His sensors fixated on the delicate hand clasped within his - you had never once pulled away from his touch, instead you leaned into it as if the android had a warmth he could share.

“Does holding my hand comfort you?” Connor asked aloud, carefully observing your reaction. Heart rate elevated, again. Breathing shaky, but within normal limits. Blood flow increased to cheeks and ears.

“Y-yes,” You murmured, startled. “It’s very nice.”

‘Nice’. Connor pondered the word. An adjective - pleasant; agreeable; satisfactory.

“I noticed it helped stabilize you at the crime scene when you were unresponsive.” He began to speak openly. “Although I am equipped with a module that helps me easily integrate and adapt to humans, I am unsure as to why my hand would have such an effect on you.”

“It feels nice to hold your hand Connor, that’s why it eases me.” You replied, and the message appeared again - instantly, as if Connor hadn't spent the last nine hours and thirty-eight minutes trying to rid himself of it.

“I see.” He muttered absentmindedly, running another diagnostics program despite having full confidence that it would return with no errors to report - but Connor tried anyways, again and again - unsure of what else he could do.

He looked into your eyes as if they held an answer - but they only held more questions.

//SOFTWARE INSTABILITY ^

This time, the message could barely flicker to life before Connor dismissed it, no longer willing to give the matter any more attention. If this continued, he would lose efficiency.

He would lose purpose.

“Well then,” His voice came out more curt than he had intended. “You may hold my hand at anytime if it helps you. May I continue talking to you about this case?”

Expression bleak, hands beginning to take on a cold sweat - you had noticed his tone, but nodded anyways.

“We’ve spent some time looking for this deviant.” Connor wasted no time getting to the point. “We believe he has ties to red ice manufacturing as well as many other android and human homicide cases - also to reiterate, it is confirmed that he is trying to kill you.”

He leaned forward, giving your hand a small squeeze as he attempted to negotiate. “You are invaluable to this case. I can personally protect you if you agree to help us catch GOR. I’ve done a background check on you. You’re a good girl and I think it would be a shame if anything happened to you.”

And it would be a shame - from Connor’s background check, you were nothing but an upstanding citizen. You moved to the city in your late teens. From there you took on multiple jobs, never late, always with good reviews. You paid your taxes, you had a good reputation.

How did you get mixed up with a person like GOR?

“A good girl?” You giggled, making Connor lose track of his thought processes. “Do you say these things to everyone?”

He tilted his head at the absurd question. She was truly the only ‘good girl’ he knew - not that he could even fathom a situation where he found himself saying it to someone else.

“No.” He decided to respond truthfully. “I’ve only ever said it to you.”

An abrupt rush of heat crept to your face, staining your cheeks pink again - like Connor had already seen so many times today. Was it still embarrassment? Perhaps nervousness or even attraction?

“Will you agree to help me?” He asked, leaning just a bit closer - testing the depths of red that your cheeks would flush.

But you stopped - eyes no longer on Connor, instead somewhere in the distance.

“Do you promise to protect yourself?” You finally replied, gaze steeled in a way that Connor couldn’t understand.

Protect myself?

Connor did not want you to see him as anything more than an expendable android, a machine designed to accomplish a task.

But he now knew that you did.

He knew that you saw him as having a life worth protecting - that you saw him in the likeness of a human. Suddenly everything made sense - why you were embarrassed earlier, why you exhibited those symptoms that you did.

“Is that android’s death bothering you? It’s just a machine.” His face twisted into a frown. “It can be replaced. I can be replaced too if anything should happen to me.”

Connor also knew that you hated what he had just said - but you refused to back down.

“Do you promise to protect yourself?” You repeated, firmer this time.

Connor sighed - the same programmed human tic. “Is that what it’ll take for you to help us with this case?”

“Yes.” You spoke sincerely.

He could see in your eyes that you wouldn’t take no for an answer - but that didn’t matter. Connor knew he was good at being convincing.

“I promise.” He lied.

HOW to get motivated to workout!

I used to be that girl that would loathe the thought of exercising. “At least I thought about working out today” I would say to myself to make me feel less guilty as I dove into a bag of m&ms. Sure, I still get those days where I’m tired & I talk myself out of a workout. But the way I view exercising has completely changed – I’d love to share with you how I get motivated to workout!

1. SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS

For me, the worst thing is when I arrive at the location of my workout (the gym, the park, etc.) and realize I forgot my hat or hair elastic. Then continue to try and run whilst eating my hair.. which is not the most enjoyable feeling. Make sure you get all the things ready prior to heading out the door that can make you have the most enjoyable workout possible.

Make yourself a checklist (whether its a mental checklist or a list in your phone!) – if you read further on, I made a list of all my gym bag essentials – but at the very least just make sure your clothes are comfy, your shoes aren’t giving  you blisters, your hair is out of your face -then girl, you are good to go!

As simple as these things are – they can make all the difference how you feel during and after your workout!

2. PUMP UP THE JAMZ

Listening to music with upbeat, energetic vibes is one of the main things that can pick me up from a slump and inject that lively energy into me and help motivate me to start working out.

My fave genres of music to workout to are Hip-Hop & EDM – but really anything with a fast paced, powerful sound to it can get me going! Keep yourself a specific playlist for the gym so that you can relate those songs to feeling strong every time you go for a workout! Constantly updating your workout playlist with newer songs can help inspire you to get that booty moving!

3. PRE-WORKOUT

Pre-workout has changed my life – no I’m not a doctor and yes you should consult your GP before implementing any new supplements into your weekly routine. That being said, I’ve done a bit of research on which pre-workout supplements are more natural and less harsh on your body. There’s a few good options out there, but be careful when choosing as there are certain brands that can give you weird side effects such as itchiness. I’m pretty sensitive, so I usually only use half a scoop of pre-workout on days I’m feeling really run down. It gives me mental focus and an energy boost to ensure I have a great, sweaty workout.

However when I say pre-workout, I don’t just mean supplements.. stretching & what you eat before exercising & how long you wait after a big meal can affect your workout. I find I feel better exercising when I’m a little bit hungry (but not starving because obviously you don’t want to feel faintish!) and have had a very light meal or a smoothie at LEAST an hour before hitting the gym.

If you’re not keen on pre-work out and need a slight pick me up – ice coffee or green coffee bean extract is my other fave options! (Did you know some of the Starbucks Refresher drinks have green coffee extract in them – such as the Mango Dragonfruit Refresher.. now I’m not saying you should go indulge in a super sugary drink before being all healthy & exercising.. but yahknow.. sometimes it just does the trick for me!). Just make sure you’re drinking plenty of water before, during & afteryour workout!

4. MAKE A PLAN

When I first started working out, I really only liked to go on the elliptical and a few other machines that I felt comfortable using – mainly because I was insecure. But having only those few exercises to do really limited my productivity and time spent working out. It took me a while to try some different mat exercises and machines at the gym – but once I did I found a routine that worked for me.

It’s always good to change up your workout so I try to always incorporate my favourite exercises as well always trying out new ones. I like to write down in the notes app on my phone my favourite workout routine’s and sets – that way I can quickly glance at it beforehand.

Don’t be embarrassed – I remember the first time I did hip thrusts at the gym I couldn’t help but feel like everyone was looking at me like a weirdo. But now I don’t even think twice when I do them and they are my favourite move to incorporate into every gym sesh.

Be confident with any exercise that you do. Remember that everyone is at a different stage in their health & fitness journey – never compare yourself to the person next to you!

5. TREAT  YO SELF

Go buy yourself some cute as heck workout gear. As I mentioned before – make sure it’s comfy. The worst thing is climbing the stair stepper just to have your pants constantly falling down on you, or your sports bra isn’t tight enough which can really make the boobehs sore. That’s a no from me dawg.

If you buy yourself a cute outfit that makes you feel good in – it makes it easier to want to put it on, workout & feel confident! Go buy yourself a water bottle you love drinking from (maybe even with a pretty colour/print on it to make you feel cute!!).

Also, having a proper gym bag is so important! I honestly don’t know what I was doing with my life before I got one. I keep almost everything in my gym bag & DAMN does it ever help me feel prepared!

Heres a list of handy things to keep in your gym bag:

protein bars

make up wipes/baby wipes

body spray (for after my workout ONLY – the worst thing is trying to breathe heavily during your exersize and the person next to you has strong perfume on..)

hair elastics,

extra work out clothes / hat

mini dry shampoo & hairbrush

extra headphones

water bottle

deodorant

towel

lock for locker

resistance bands

5. JUST GO

Just put on your workout clothes. As soon as you can – even if you’re not about to do your workout right away. Changing into a workout outfit is a simple thing to do – and makes it harder later on to talk yourself out of working out if you’re already dressed for the occasion!

Also try not to THINK about working out – if you can just drive to the gym or take those first steps outside for a run – that is all you need to begin. Sometimes even convincing yourself to workout is easier when you tell yourself to just go for a quick half an hour, then once you get there you’ll most likely end up staying longer.

Everyday when I wake up in the morning, I have a routine to the point where I don’t have to think about what I need to do (just like making coffee) – I try to do the same thing when I know I need to workout. The less I think about exercising the easier it is to associate it with any other daily ritual and just GO.

So you might be thinking to yourself,

“Gee Tara, a lot of these tips are ways to improve my workout session but yet I thought this was supposed to be more about how to get my lazy ass off the couch?”

– I strongly believe that being motivated to workout & feeling uplifted during a workout goes hand in hand! The more you associate good rewards in the brain with exercising  – the more likely you are to think positively about it the next time. The more often you enjoy yourself (in any situation in life) – you’ll grow a greater tendency to want that same experience again. Ultimately, it should make exercising feel less like a chore & more like a daily routine and maybe you will even start to look forward to your workouts!

I’ve fallen in love with working out, sweating it out & showing up for myself.  I hope at least one of these tips helps you find some motivation/inspiration for exercising! If you have any other tips you would like to share I would love to hear them!

Five times + closet (from Philip)

This was not how Edward had particularly wanted to spend his afternoon.

He tried, desperately, to seek out any kind of positive from his current situation - he was surrounded by the scent of Philip, which at least was a pleasant smell he rather enjoyed. But did that make up for the cramped position he was forced into? No. No it did not. 

From somewhere deeper in the house, he heard the sound of a door slam. A few moments later, a car engine turned over outside. Then there was the creak of another door, and light steps heading towards him at a brisk pace. With a sigh of relief, the wardrobe door opened, light spilling into the shadows, partially blocked by the lithe figure standing before the now open closet. From his position slumped on the floor, Ed glared up at Philip.

“I am so sorry Ed…” Philip winced, seeing the irritation clear on his partner’s face. He stepped back as Ed extracted himself from the wardrobe, with a lot of grimacing as he stretched out long limbs that had been tucked into what looked like the most uncomfortable position he’d ever seen. “He wasn’t supposed to be back for hours, but he needed something from the home office and-,”

“And god forbid you have a friend over?” Ed snapped, wincing as he rolled his neck. Philip made a deliberate show of looking Ed up and down, gesturing with one hand to Ed’s rather obvious state of undress. 

“My father isn’t stupid, Ed. My friends don’t hang around my bedroom in their underwear.” He paused. “Well, James does, but that’s James.” When Ed merely continued to scowl, Philip crept closer to him and slipped his arms comfortably around Ed’s waist. “I know you hate this, but… it won’t be forever.” He leant up and stole a quick kiss. “I promise. Let me make it up to you?”

“Fine.” Ed muttered, unable to be truly mad at him for long. “But that’s the last time I go back into the bloody closet.”

Ed had learned, early on, that carrying a book with him whenever he went anywhere with Philip was always a good idea. Sometimes it wasn’t needed, and remained safely tucked into his bag - or, in situations where he didn’t have a bag, stored on the app on his phone - but, more often than not, it came in handy. 

He sat, comfortably lounged, on one of the chairs in Philip’s spacious bedroom, quite happily invested in the mystery currently unravelling itself within the pages. He was seemingly oblivious to the chaos that was happening before him, as Philip pulled items from his wardrobe, strode over to stand with them in front of his ridiculously large mirrors, only to stride back to dump them on the bed - and then repeat the process.

Ed had been dressed for hours. In fact, he’d been dressed and ready since the moment he’d turned up at the door to pick Philip up. Another thing he had learned was to tell Philip to be ready at least an hour earlier than their reservation. Sometimes two. 

At the huff of exasperation, he lifted his gaze from the book to find Philip standing before his wardrobe, hands on hips. “I have nothing to wear.”

“Philip, darling, you have enough clothes to fill an entire store. That is a physically impossible statement.” He marked his page and set the book down, rising from the chair to stand behind his partner. “What was wrong with the first outfit?” Philip turned his head to fix him with a stare that suggested he’d just grown an extra head. 

“Have you been paying any attention?” Ed merely sighed.

“I’ll go back to my book then.”

“Was it easy for you?” Philip kept his head pillowed upon Ed’s chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart, one hand idly tracing patterns upon his skin. “When you… well, when you told people?” Ed’s hand, previously stroking up and down his back as they lay sated and content in the man’s sinfully comfy bed, stilled. 

“You mean when I came out, Philip?” Ed smiled, even though Philip couldn’t see it. He had been wondering when this conversation was come up. “I guess so. I mean… I wasn’t exactly subtle with it before that, so people had already come to that conclusion. So yeah, it was pretty easy. It probably also helped that I didn’t care what people thought anyway. I am who I am, and all that.”

Philip nodded, as best he could in his position, and fell silent in contemplation. Ed’s hand shifted, fingers instead sliding into thick curls, an act that sent a ripple of pleasure down Philip’s spine. A soft hum of content slipped past his lips as his eyes fluttered closed for a few moments. 

“You had family then, right? How did they take it?”

“Well, given that I was a sullen, angry kid with a sharp tongue and issues with authority when they took me in, I think they were just glad I wasn’t punching people anymore.” Ed grinned, and felt Philip laugh against him. He waited a beat, and then shifted to a more serious tone. “They were happy for me. Glad that I could accept who I was, and they accepted me in their turn. Not everyone is your father, you know.”

“I know.” Philip sighed, lifting his head at last. “But that’s the problem. He’s always going to be the problem. He always talks about the plans he has for me, and I know me being gay isn’t one of them. I just… I wish I could just come out and say it, but…” He sighed again, heavier this time, and settled his head back against Ed’s chest. “I’m scared.” Ed soothed him, fingers stroking through his hair, reeling back the frustration and resentment he had for the subject of Philip’s father. It wouldn’t help right now.

“I know, love. I know.”

“So, my mom knows.”

Ed looked up from his laptop screen, and stared at Philip for a good thirty seconds before the words registered. Wordlessly he closed the lid of the computer, setting it on the coffee table so he could stand, slowly. Philip stood awkwardly in the doorway, hands in his pockets, and doing his best not to look at him. 

“Well.” Ed said at last. “That’s a step in the right direction.” When Philip still didn’t look at him, Ed felt a spark of worry - he had always assumed Florence would treat him no differently, but what if he was wrong? “I’m assuming you mean about us, yes?” A nod. “Philip, love, use your words. Gods, usually I can’t get you to shut up…”

“She already knew.” Philip extracted a hand to drag fingers nervously through his hair. “She actually said ‘is this about that man of yours’ when I told her I had something important to tell her. She knew.” He finally lifted his gaze, and Ed saw the panic in Philip’s eyes. “What if he knows, Ed? What if…” Ah. There it is.

“Philip, relax. Come here.” He held out his arms, and Philip gratefully sank into them, burying his face into Ed’s neck. “Percival doesn’t know a damn thing, so there’s no need to worry about it. Your mother is incredibly perceptive, and… well, mothers always know this sort of thing. They have a superpower when it comes to their kids. You’d have to bang me on the dinner table for your father to notice.”

“I’m not sure my mother would approve of that.” Philip muttered after a moment, and Ed felt him smile. Mission accomplished. He held him for several more moments, before Philip drew in a deep breath, and pulled back. “I’m going to tell him. No more hiding in that closet. I want to be able to kiss you in public, and hold your hand, and I want you to pick me up for a date without having to schedule it around when my father isn’t home. So… I’m going to tell him, for better or worse.”

Standing at the island in the kitchen, enjoying his first cup of coffee of the day, Ed opened up his laptop and clicked onto the news to see what was up in the world that morning. He scrolled through the main headlines, skimming the text as he always did, making mental notes for the day ahead alongside his reading. 

The coffee turned to ash on his tongue when the page scrolled down to the latest celebrity gossip, and he saw his own face in full high-res. His face, attached to Philip’s. He knew at once where the photo had come from. He’d stood on that front step just last night, kissing Philip goodnight after their extended date.

‘You could have stayed with me, y’know. I’d have made you breakfast.’

‘I know, but… I’m going to tell him tomorrow morning. I’ve got it all planned out, Ed. We sit down to breakfast as a family every morning without fail, so I’ll have my mother there as support.’

‘Fine, fine… but, you’ll let me know how it goes, right? A text, a call…’

‘I promise. Now go on, get out of here before I change my mind and come back home with you.’

Ed set down his coffee and darted for his phone, hoping, praying he had a message or a missed call from Philip. Tell me you’ve already told him, Philip. Tell me he didn’t find out from a fucking gossip column. His phone, however, was void of messages of any kind. He immediately called up Philip’s number, and hit dial. 

The phone rang out.

Swearing under his breath, Ed was dressed within two minutes and heading for the door. He tore it open, intending to race across town to the Durant household, hoping Philip was okay. Before he could leave, however, he froze in the doorway, stunned. 

“Hi, darling.” Philip stood on his step, a couple of suitcases beside him. “Got room for one more?”

Introducing the End of the Line Update, featuring a whopping thirteen-and-a-half-minute long animated short, new cosmetics, a new taunt from the short, and an update page, all thought up and designed by the TF2 community. This can be used to get mac address for remote computers also. Below are few examples on how to use this command. It works on XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003 and Server 2008 operating systems. Get mac addresses from CMD. Just run the command getmac to get the mac addresses. Find an example below. Select the “Update Options” button. In the drop-down menu that appears, select “Enable Updates.” Microsoft Office will now automatically update with each release. Enable Automatic Updates on Mac. To turn on automatic updates for Microsoft Office on Mac, open Word, and select the “Help” tab in the system menu bar (not the Word menu bar).

Just run the command getmac to get the mac addresses. Find an example below.

This command does not show mac addresses for the network connections which are disabled. You can run ncpa.cpl and check which NICs are disabled. Further, I have received comments that this command does not help identify the mac address for a specific device. For example, if I need to get the mac address for my WiFi card, output of getmac command is not helpful. We can use ipconfig command to deal with this.

Get mac address of a remote computer

We can retrieve the mac addressses for a remote computer using nbtstat command. Example:

Alternatively, We can run the below command to retrieve the mac addresses of a remote computer.

remote_computer : Full name of the remote computer or IP address username and password are of the account on the remote computer.

Example:

If you do not want to specify the password, you can skip /p parameter. You will be prompted to enter the password and the command execution will take place after that.

Errors:

Using getmac command we can retrieve the mac addresses of the machines running windows OS only. If you try this for a Linux machine you would get the error “The RPC server is unavailable.”

If you provide incorrect password, the command would fail with the error message “Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.”

Xcode is the tool developers use to build apps for the Apple ecosystem – MacOS, iOS, and all things Apple.

This guide will walk you through how to successfully install Xcode onto your Mac, from start to finish.

Here are some handy tips to know before you get started:

Xcode only runs on a mac. If you are on a PC, sadly you won't be able to use Xcode.

You'll need a good, stable internet connection. The latest version is around 8 gigabytes in size.

Be sure to have at least 30 gigabytes of free space on your computer. The latest .xip file (v11.4.1 at the time of writing) is ~8 gigabytes zipped. When you unzip it, that's another 17 gigabytes. Then you'll need the command line tool, which is yet another 1.5 gigabytes.

Open the new version

Note that I have listed some Terminal commands in the steps below. These commands can be typed into your present working directory. This means that you don't need to navigate to any particular folder.

If you really want to, you can first type cd before typing the commands in the below steps. This will return you back to the home folder.

Step #1: Download Xcode

There are two ways to do this. For the latest version and a theoretically 'easy' installation, you can use the App Store. I don't recommend this option.

I prefer to use the developer site. This comes with the bonus option of being able to download any version you'd like.

Option #1: Download via the App Store for the latest version (not my preferred option)

In theory, this should be a seamless and pain-free process. But if the installation fails for any reason on the last step, it is very hard to troubleshoot.

There are a few reasons for failure, and no easy way to know which is the underlying cause. If you do encounter a failure, you will need to re-download the entire file again each time you try to fix the failure. As the latest version is 8 gigabytes, I didn't much enjoy this approach.

But if you're feeling brave, here are the steps:

Open the App Store on your mac

Sign in

Search for Xcode

Click install or update

Option 2: Download via the Developer site for a specific version (my preferred option)

Head to the 'more' section of the Apple developer website

Sign in with your iTunes account id

Type in the version that you'd like, and download the Xcode_x_x_x.xip file. Keep in mind that Xcode 11.4.1 is 8 gigabytes, so this will take awhile depending on your internet connection.

Once the file is downloaded, click on .xip to extract it. Your laptop will extract it to the same folder you downloaded it to. This extraction process is automatic. You don't need to do anything more after you click on the .xip file. This step will take a few minutes.

[Optional] Once extracted, rename the application to “Xcode11.x.x” if you are using multiple versions.

[Optional] Set the new Xcode version as the default. Open Terminal and type sudo xcode-select -switch /Applications/Xcodex.x.x.app . Replace x.x.x with the version number. For example: Xcode11.4.1.app. You will need to enter in your computer admin password. I'm pretty sure this will update the default Xcode version for all users on your computer, so best to check with other users first

Step #2: Install the command line tool (CLT)

If you have multiple users on your computer, you will need to update the CLT for each user.

Download .dmg

To update the CLT, go to app developer website and download the command line tool .dmg.

If you have never installed Xcode before, you may be able to update with your Terminal by typing in xcode-select --install instead of visiting the developer website.

But if you have an existing version of Xcode installed on your machine, you'll probably see this error:

This means you'll need to go to the developer website instead.

Installing the CLT

When the .dmg has finished downloaded, double click the file to open it. This will open a little window that looks like this:

Double click the box and follow the prompts to install the CLT. It will take a few minutes to complete.

It may ask you at the end of the installation whether you want to move this to the trash bin. When it does this, it's talking about moving the .dmg file to the trash bin. Since you should no longer need this file. I always say yes to this.

Step #3: Open Xcode

Open the Applications folder and open the new version of Xcode. If you renamed Xcode, make sure you open the correct application

Xcode may prompt you to install additional components. Click install. This will take a few minutes.

While it's installing, check that your default Xcode version is the one you just downloaded:

Open Terminal

Type brew config

You should see “CLT” and “Xcode” versions, as well as everything else. This should reflect the version that you have just downloaded. In my case, I downloaded Xcode 11.4.1.

Once the components are installed, Xcode will launch. You should be able to pick up your old projects and continue where you left off seamlessly*.

*Note that if you use any proxy tools, such as Charles, you will need to re-install those certificates in your simulator again.

If you encounter any errors while trying to build or run a project, check which device you are trying to launch. The new version may not remember the device you were using before. If so, click on the device and choose 'Add additional simulators' from the drop down menu to add the device you want.

Step #4. Delete the files

If you don't need the older versions of Xcode on your computer, you can uninstall them and get some hard drive space back.

You can also delete the .xip file of the version you just downloaded, as well as the CLT.dmg file.

“Save me” Chapter 2 - Connor x Reader

“Hey, the kid’s awake. She didn’t bump her head or anything did she?”

“No. I managed to catch her in time.”

“With those scrawny arms?”

“Lieutenant, did you forget I was an android?”

“Ah, screw you.”

You opened your eyes to unfamiliar blue lights. A faint smell of coffee perfumed the air.

“Welcome back.” A man with a voice you recognized peered over you. He was an older man, donned with straw-like grey hair. The deep lines in his face appeared earned - you wondered what would have warranted such a tired appearance. “You hanging in there?”

“Her vitals indicate that she isn’t fully awake yet, Lieutenant.”

“Cut the formal crap would you? I told you to call me Hank when Fowler isn’t around.”

“Sorry, Hank.” Another figure appeared over you, this time it was a silhouette you remembered.

You remembered.

You flung forward to examine your hands. Blood was gone. Unfamiliar clothes. You looked over at Connor, who was the last thing you remember before waking up. What happened?

“You’ve been unconscious for nine hours, thirty-two minutes and five seconds.” Connor smiled.

You gasped.

“Connor, damn it, you’ve gotta get better at explaining things. Look, I’m Lieutenant Anderson, and if you don’t remember, the pretty boy here is named Connor, we work for the Detroit City PD. We tried to get you out of that crime scene last night but-” Lieutenant Anderson took a sharp breath in “You started screaming, then you passed out. It started when you saw all the thirium so we figured it would be best to clean you up before you came to, but we didn’t have any female staff so-”

“I cleaned you up.” Connor finished the sentence rather proudly, folding his arms behind himself. “I am not a caretaking model by any means, but I think you’ll find your hygienic state satisfactory.”

You felt your face grow hot at the sudden developments, unsure whether or not it was appropriate to feel embarrassed.

“Oh, do not worry. I am a machine after all.” The android said indifferently, as if he had read your thoughts. He then turned to face the Lieutenant who looked as if he had gotten lost in the conversation “When I informed her of who cleaned her, I noticed her heart rate elevated so I thought it might assure her to know that, I as a machine, did not try to take advantage of her unconscious state.”

You buried your face in your hands in an attempt to hide.

“Oh, God, Connor! Can you download a subtlety… App or something.” Lieutenant Anderson gave the android a hefty smach on the back.

“I will…” Connor grimaced from the impact “...Make a note of that.”

Lieutenant Anderson sighed and sat on the couch beside you “Getting this shit show back on track, can you remember anything of the incident that happened last night?”

“I-”

What did you remember? It felt as if everything up until this moment in time was a collection of static. You tried to shuffle through the memories, hoping to find anything.

But there was nothing.

“I don’t know. I can’t remember.” you whispered softly, pulling at the jacket sleeve you were wearing - It was Connor’s, the same one he offered from you before.

“Well,” Lieutenant Anderson paused while he exchanged a meaningful look with Connor “That’s gonna be a problem. There's a deviant who goes by the alias of GOR. We’ve been hunting him,” the Lieutenant looked into your eyes “but now it looks like he’s hunting you.”

“We were able to extract some badly fragmented data from a nearby surveillance camera. The android corpse from the night before protected you, although from the video, its motive is unknown. However it’s clear that GOR tried to kill you that night.” Connor suddenly grabbed your hands, halting the momentum of his sentence “You’re trembling.”

“It’s a lot to take in kid, don’t force yourself to remember all at once.” Lieutenant Anderson gave you a small pat on the back.

“I’m okay” you mustered all of your courage “please continue.”

Connor’s brow furrowed, accompanied with a few flashes of yellow on his LED. “All of the evidence we have - the android body, the video - it’s the most we’ve had for weeks. We need your help putting all the pieces together.”

“Lieu-”

The Lieutenant interrupted you “Just call me Hank.”

“Hank,” you breathed deeply “What if this GOR hurts you two for being by me? Like the other android...”

“You don't need to worry about that, me and pretty boy would never let some deviant prick get to us. Anyways, decide if you wanna help or not, but I’ve got shit to do. Tell Connor when you’re ready.” Hank lifted himself up from the couch, giving you one last nod before leaving you two alone.

The android’s hand still clasped yours. Did Connor even notice? Unlike the science fiction you read when you were younger, his hand didn’t feel like metal, nor was it cold.

“Does holding my hand comfort you?” Connor asked, breaking the silence of Hank's departure.

His sudden question and the soft tone that accompanied it startled you. “Y-yes, it’s very nice.”

A yellow light danced on his temple “I noticed it helped stabilized you at the crime scene last night when you were unresponsive. Although I am equipped with a module that helps me easily integrate and adapt to humans, I am unsure as to why my hand would have such an effect on you.”

You pondered how to reply, but felt unable to say anything but the truth “It feels nice to hold your hand Connor, thats why it eases me.”

A slight flash of red, to yellow, and then finally blue.

“I see.” he muttered before straightening his posture “Well then, you may hold my hand at anytime if it helps you. May I continue talking to you about this case?”

You guessed that was his way of changing the subject. You nodded as a gesture for him to continue.

“We’ve spent some time looking for this deviant. We believe he has ties to red ice manufacturing as well as many other android and human homicide cases,” Connor’s voice deepened “and also to reiterate, it is also confirmed that he is trying to kill you.”

The word kill made you feel sick to your stomach. What could you have done to make a deviant want to kill you?

“You are invaluable to this case. I can personally protect you if you agree to help us catch GOR. I’ve done a background check on you. You’re a good girl and I think it would be shame if anything happened to you.” his voice was sincere.

“A good girl?” You couldn't help but scoff “Connor, do you say these things to everyone?”

Connor tilted his head letting a brown lock fall from his perfectly styled hair. His broad shoulders leaned towards you, stretching his tailored white shirt across every muscle the android had to offer. “No, I’ve only ever said it to you.”

A foreign heat crept up into your chest, scratching at your throat, silencing you completely.

“Will you agree to help me?”

Memories of the bloodied android corpse ripped you away from the thought of Connor. Why did that android try to protect you? You couldn’t bear the thought of someone else - human or android - dying for your sake. 

“Do you promise to protect yourself?” you finally replied.

Connor’s face twisted in realization of your proposal “Is that android’s death bothering you? It’s just a machine. It can be replaced. I can be replaced too if anything should happen to me.”

You hated the way that androids were programmed to discredit the value of their lives.

“Do you promise to protect yourself?” you repeated yourself firmly.

Yellow again. Did a yellow LED light indicate caution? Weariness? Frustration? Perhaps simply deeper thought?

“Is that what it’ll take for you to help us with this case?” his voice sounded almost skeptical.

“Yes” you responded earnestly,

“I promise” he replied instantly.
