I'm sick of ever character in Miraculous being reduced to a love square shipper. Alya, Kagami, Luka, Marinette's ENTIRE class, the news lady EVEN THE FUCKEN ICE CREAM MAN! They all only exist to further the love square. Can anyone have a personality and storyline that doesn't involve forcing Marinette and Adrien together??
We kicked it off nicely with character study fics last time, so now it’s time to talk about our favourite minor characters more specifically as well.
To recap, our January event, as usual, was to recommend and review our favorite fics that we read in 2022! To make things a little bit more interesting and fun, we treated it a bit like an awards ceremony or spotify wrapped. If you know the tumblr accounts of any authors on AO3 that were mentioned but not tagged, please tag them!
Continuing with our rec lists, here's part fifteen, the MWG nominations for best appearance by a tertiary character!

What To Do When Your Superhero Has the Flu by Ronoken
Miraculous Fanworks wishes a happy birthday to Kellen Goff! He is the voice actor for Techno Pirate and Hot Dog Dan, both from the Miraculous World: New York special!
so at what point in the process does Hot Dog Dan's superpower go to work? does he have to be involved in the manufacture of the magic hot dogs, or is the magic an element of the cooking process, or a literal or figurative condiment he adds at time of sale? does it have to be hot dogs, or could it work with turkey dogs or roast pork or baked beans? to what extent does he control what effects the hot dogs have? how long do the effects last, and to what extent does that vary by quantity consumed?
callout post: andre the ice cream man writes rpf about local children, makes them cry by refusing them service if they don't adhere to his ships, and then gets self-righteously upset about it enough to terrorize the city about it
The third is The direct copy of the first, but the second is thematically of The same. The list of prohibited items and activities is worth a probe -- we see a change in the first to the third from "bikini bathing suits" to "bikinis" -- though, I do have to wonder if that could be applicable in the 1979 copy -- I guess that makes some sense in a world that deprives the youth of the pleasure of... Newspapers. The 1975 list includes "disrobing" and "topless bathing" -- which indeed are things prohibited in this code approved family comic book, and I like the word form it takes -- note the suffix "ing" -- make these two items an activity like most all the rest. (coulda gone with 'frisbeeing?)
would anyone happen to remember the name of that one indie game Arin & Dan played where they play as a hot dog, & the gameplay involves catching groups of tomato, cheese, lettuce, etc. I remember the story being really strange & nonsensical (involving stalking & amnesia & cannibalism, but all in a comedic way), & the backgrounds for each lever were just real life stock photos. I loved that series so much, but I don't know how to find it now.
now knowing that shane is some kind of graphics genius makes the early postmortems where ryan is like ‘stop asking me to animate stuff wtf I hate you’ so much funnier
They close down the main avenue in my city for traffic on Sundays so people can walk and cycle, and there's street-fair type stuff all along it. Despite living here for 8-ish years (non-consecutive) this was the first time I went. Took Nina, even she got exhausted and lay on the floor for a bit. Walked for over 2 hours. Now as soon as I can stand again I'm taking a shower because I sweated approximately a whole other person.
