So I know I haven't written from HoA in a while but I'm slowly getting back into it as I'm getting out of my depression. Figured I'd start up with a snip it of how I think one of the ways Clarice might survive. It's not proof read. Enjoy!

Rachael was panting as she ran the generator the lights were hooked to in the temple. They needed eyes on these things, and she needed to keep them on, damnit! As soon as she got there, she pulled the starter cord to try to keep the generator going. It seemed like it might be working until the third and final pull when the cord snapped.

"You've got to be fucking kidding?!" She nearly shouted before her leg jutted out and slammed in the old piece of junk keeping them alive. The sputtering stopped suddenly as the lights quit flickering. She sighed in relief briefly before she looked over to Clarice, the other woman struggling to keep going as whatever the creatures had done to her ravaged her body. Rachael ran into the tent set up next to the generator, frantically searching as she nearly threw things around until she finally found the pack she was looking for.

"Rachel! What the hell are you doing?! We need to get out of here!" She heard Eric calling her as she quickly slung the pack on to her back. She could hear the shouting of the surviving Marines, Merwin and Kolchek being the loudest as they threw insults at the creatures through the temple doors. She emerged from the tent with the pack before going to the computer hooked up to the cameras.

"I'm keeping a fucking promise, Eric!" She yelled as she flipped through cameras, trying to find them a way out. Before he could respond, the sound of an explosion rang through the temple as she saw a camera go down.

"Is this place mined?!" She called as she looked around the temple, weary that blast might bring down the heavy stone on top of them.

"Not mined enough!" Kolchek called back as him and the other three Marines held the door. Eric and Clarice moving down towards her as she flipped through cameras before settling on the one leading to the catacombs.

"There! The catacombs! That's our way out!" She said as she stood, readying her pistol and getting ready to help Clarice move out.

"That ain't a fucking way out!" Kolchek countered as he nearly got thrown from the door, he moved back before shouldering his rifle and shooting through the doors. "This is our house, our rules!" He shouted as he continued to fire.

"It's the only way we've got right now!" She shouted back, she heard Jason curse as he motioned for Joey and Merwin to move towards the passage with the rest. Finally he and Nick moved to retreat while the doors still held up for the moment. They covered the way as the group began to climb over the debris in the doorway, firing the creatures as doors to the temple finally gave way.

The rest felt like a blur to Rachel. Even when she ran for the machine gun and helped Kolchek hold them off, she relied on muscle memory while her brain screamed at her. It wasn't until the blasts from the tunnel above them had settled when she felt like she could breathe for the moment, her shoulders sagging. She felt the weight of the pack shift on her back as she did, remembering the conversation she had with Clarice before they crossed the cavern. She swung the bag from her shoulder as she quickly moved to Clarice, ignoring the looks the others were giving as she began to pull out pill bottles.

"Clarice, here start taking these." She said she started to grab anything that looked like it might help the other woman. She'd have to wait to do any injections until they had light.

is stay frosty getting a chapter 5? count on that next year. it'll be a journey of 2 more fanfics in the series + spin-off. i'm pretty certain some readers in the jalim fandom have waited for this. depending how fast i finish stay frosty, the sequel could be up by winter next year, or in 2026.

just wrapped the taglines for book 2 of the jalim series. i know i haven't finished book 1 (stay frosty) yet but i like to be prepared ahead of time. for those who don't know; it'll be a jalim fanfic series with 3 books in total + 1 spinoff. this has been planned for years too. book 1's main genre is horror and the 2 last books will be sci-fi (think the horror game alien insolation but much worse event). the spinoff? 🤫
