Damn r/BulletJournal can be annoying at times. "How do you bullet journal without washi tape??" Easy I write things I need to organize down with a pen so I can remember them and keep them in one simple place like how Ryder Carroll intended for neurodivergent people to use it
#not saying you can't bullet journal if you're neurotypical but damn people get a grip#where's that one post about how Instagram gentrified bullet journaling#bullet journal#bujo

Weekly bujo spread

Just finished the first two weeks of my first jobā¦. I thought I would feel different I guess, but it just feels like another day at the lab for me? I guess thatās a good thing though, i just thought that my first job would feel like a new phase of my life but everything is pretty familiar to me and itās not very stressful <3

does anyone know where i can get a normal ass relatively affordable notebook (dot or grid preferred but lined is fine too - not blank) with this kind of thick, recycled speckle-y paper? everything i can find is either stupid expensive and not actually a notebook ("guided journals" as pictured lol) or on the opposite end of the quality spectrum (tissue paper dollar store notebook). in my wildest dreams it's like a bound a5 that lies flat but i will take spiral too. as we once said in a long forgotten era: i have a mighty need please send me leads if u have them

My January set up in my new bullet journal!
I've always had an interest in Ancient Egypt and so it's been on my running list of potential bujo theme ideas for a while (and especially since seeing the exhibition in Melbourne last year). But then for christmas Lauren gave me the gorgous print in that first photo and a little Egyptian cat pin and I decided now was the time to do it.
I primarily used a gold gel pen, gold watercolour paint, and a set of shuttle art pens that i also got for xmas which write on both light and black paper really well.

Dear people who follow me on tumblr,
I hope this post finds you well, I am here writing to you as I need some help and feedback, I will now explain the matter which leads me to write to you. For the past weeks I have been feeling very lost, this because the permanent and physical place where I store myself, my thoughts and my memories has not felt right to me. I started the year using a black Leuchtturm notebook in B6, then went on for my ring binder experience that lasted until the penultimate week of February. On the last one I began to spiral and tried an A6 Leuchtturm notebook. Ultimately I decided I would start the month fresh and go back to my ring binder, so I set up those pages. But even those didn't feel quite right, it is not the problem of the design, or the format, I simply don't know what it is. Today I found myself reaching for my A6 Hobonichis...(from 2024). The problem is that the days where I don't journal are days that are lost and I can't look back on, or days where I feel like I have no place to unload what is on my mind.
The most jarring thing is that I am repeating exactly the same pattern as I did last year: started in January in a ring binder, went on to a bound notebook in February and March and went for Hobonichi in April. I wonder if this is going to be a cyclical thing, if I will ever feel contempt with my notebooks and find "the perfect system".
But to be honest, I cannot put blame on these notebooks or pages, for it is me who is shaping them. Since I feel restless and this is the most personal practice I have with myself, of course it is merely a reflection of my inner world. My question is: I seek written form, my notebooks and planners to organise and make sense of my mind, but if I can't find a support that feels right for that, then how do I unload all this. How can I stop this cycle?
If you have felt this way before, how did you get out of this situation? And yes I have read the article by @petite-gloom, where she discussed the same feeling a couple months ago. But I need advice.
Please leave your recommendations in the comments, or drop them in my inbox. With this I hope to invite a positive response not only for me but also for others who have gone or are going through a similar situation. Please be kind.
Thank you :(

I have started to journal over the past month, but I use a simple hardcover notebook with lined paper. While I think it's very useful, I am interested in other types of journals like bullet journals and traveler's journals. I am not sure which would be best for me, though?
I don't really keep track of things like my water intake, what books I read, and daily tasks in my journal, but I do write a lot of my thoughts, my spiritual journey, mood at the start/end of the day, gratitude, etc.
I don't know how I could really work these all into a cohesive place and what type of journal to even begin with in the first place. I would love suggestions and insight from anyone who's had a similar problem. Thank you!

Planner Setup 101: Making Your Planner Work for You
A Step-by-Step Guide to Boosting Organization and Efficiency
Your planner isnāt just a notebook with datesāitās a tool for transforming chaos into clarity. But too often, we try to cram our lives into someone else's idea of āorganized.ā What if your planner actually worked for you, not the other way around?
Letās walk through how to set up a planner that fits your life, your goals, and your rhythm. Whether youāre brand new to planning or looking to refresh your current system, this step-by-step guide will help you create a setup thatās both functional and empowering.
Step 1: Choose the Right Planner for You
Thereās no one-size-fits-all approach. Ask yourself:
Do you prefer digital or paper?
Do you like daily breakdowns, weekly views, or monthly overviews?
Do you need portability, or do you keep your planner on your desk?
Donāt be afraid to experiment until you find the format that clicks. It should feel like an extension of your brainānot a burden.
Step 2: Define Your Plannerās Purpose
Be clear about why youāre using a planner. Is it to:
Track appointments and deadlines?
Manage projects or business tasks?
Build habits and routines?
Prioritize self-care and mental wellness?
All of the above?
Once you define the purpose, you can design your layout accordingly. This step prevents overwhelm and helps you stay focused.
Step 3: Create Your Core Sections
Every effective planner has key sections that reflect your priorities. Here are a few you might include:
Monthly Calendars: For long-term planning and key events
Weekly Spreads: For mapping out tasks and routines
Daily Pages: For detailed to-dos, time blocking, or journaling
Goals: Break big dreams into achievable steps
Habit Trackers: Build consistency, one day at a time
Notes/Ideas: Capture inspiration when it strikes
Only include what youāll actually use. A bloated planner can quickly become a dusty one.
One of my daily spreads that helps me keep my day on track and aligned with my overall goals:

Step 4: Customize with Intention
This is where your planner truly becomes yours. Add:
Color coding or labels for quick reference
Stickers or washi tape if youāre creative (and motivated by visuals)
Tabs, bookmarks, or dashboards for easy navigation
Inserts or templates that reflect your lifestyleālike meal planning, finance tracking, or project management
Customization isnāt just for aestheticsāit boosts usability.
One of my favorite custom spreads:

Step 5: Set a Planning Routine
A planner only works if you use it. Set aside time regularly to:
Review your week every Sunday (or your reset day)
Check-in each morning to adjust tasks or priorities
Do a monthly reflection to reset your goals and intentions
This habit turns planning into a rhythm, not a chore.
Step 6: Give Yourself Permission to Adjust
Your life changes. So should your planner. Donāt be afraid to revise your layout, simplify sections, or even switch systems if somethingās not working. Flexibility is the key to sustainability.
Final Thoughts
A well-set-up planner doesnāt just organize your timeāit helps you own it. Whether youāre juggling multiple roles or simply trying to stay sane in a busy world, your planner should serve you.
Remember: Itās not about having the perfect planner. Itās about creating a space that supports your unique goals, pace, and priorities.
So take a deep breath, grab your favorite pen, and start building a system that lets you thrive.

was talking some with @yandereleorio earlier about what a good reading/book tracking setup would look like for adults, and wasn't 100% satisfied with anything i saw so i decided to come up with a rough mockup of my own.
left page: a place to input the title, author, publishing year (we both read a lot of non fiction, especially history, when we do read lol so it felt like a good thing to add), and total page number. below that, a calendar where you can color in the circles for each day you read if you want to, and then what number of pages out of the total you read that week. bottom right has a place to write out the total you read that month. very bottom of the page has an empty bar to possibly serve as a more visual percentage tracker, if that appeals to you; if not you could totally just omit it.
right page: five empty stars that you can fill in to rate the book goodreads style, if you're so inclined. the rest of the page is lined, under the header "THOUGHTS," so you can write a review or use it to take notes as you read. if you wanted to keep track of the start and/or end date of the reading, you could totally add that here as well.
