Hello. I've arrizen with more orv x op. Specifically Kim Dokja.
When Dokja first meets Luffy, he's shocked. Sure the shock is mitigated by the Fourth Wall but it's still shocking to see that:
1. He's being suitcase-carried by an obviously burnt Yoo Joonghyuk (from the lightning strike) along with another teenager.
2. The cool, calm, collected, strong, lucky, dumbass swordsman calls the scrawny shit his Captain. Like Zoro was supposed to be the protagonist, wasn't he???
3. He's smiling. Smiling. This bitch almost got executed, but he's smiling?!
Safe to say, Dokja keeps his distance. He's scared of what he can't understand.
He's just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. The shoe never drops.
Luffy is as simple as he looks.
When the realisation hits, it's a lot more comforting than he'd want to admit.
Luffy on the other hand doesn't quite understand Kim Dokja either. Luffy understands that Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung care a lot about him, he knows Kim Dokja is super strong, but he also knows that every expression, every smile that he puts on is a lie.
Luffy hates that of course. No crewmate of his should ever feel like they gotta lie like this.
Luffy also picks up on the fact that Kim Dokja is to his Companions, what Cass is to the crew. Or more specifically, what Cass would be if Luffy wasn't there or was different, so he treats Dokja like how he treated Cass early on. Being a clingy bastard, incessantly asking him to show off what makes him him.
He includes Kim Dokja as much as he possibly can and with Cass tag teaming on this too, by the end of the first month Kim Dokja was far too deep into the trap that is unconditional love to get out, even when he does eventually realise.
Kim Dokja was very biased when he assumed Zoro would be the protagonist of the book they ended up in. That's obvious enough, seeing as his favourite protagonist of all time is pretty similar to Zoro, even if it's only surface level.
Zoro is steady, Zoro is calm, Zoro is snarky, Zoro is also an insane bastard with a dream greater than his ability to get lost.
So of course he approached. Kim Dokja found it was easy to talk to this kid. Zoro was succinct in his words, sometimes joked, offered sass to the conversation so while Dokja was carrying the conversation, he didn't feel forced to do so. Like with a certain Sunfish bastard—
When Zoro's role as "protagonist" was rendered false, not much changed in his opinion of him. Well, maybe only a little, maybe a little bit of respect that such a strong guy would give up being the Captain. It's unusual to see someone strong settle for second.
...
..
THIRD???
When Dokja found that out he thankfully had already met Cass. Who was already introduced as an "Oracle". And was privy to the ensuing conversation of "I'm not an Oracle, I just know shit I'm not supposed to know".
Of course, Kim Dokja got to the bottom of it by using the Character Profiles. All of them had one, surprisingly, including Cass. Cass who apparently has the attributes:
• [Bloodbound Oracle of the Sun]
• [Dead at Denny's] and
• [Fates little meow-meow]
Kim Dokja would never let himself wonder about the third. But it answered why Cass had modern and future knowledge, they had been isekaied.
Kim Dokja wouldn't have been able to comprehend how Zoro was third otherwise.
Nami, at first is strictly his business partner. He needed to know what the local currency was like, and he admittedly liked having money. He'd scammed people before so it wasn't difficult. In fact it was convenient to fall into a routine of scamming rich people and marines on every island they stepped on.
It was nice to worry about how much money they had than about how much they didn't.
After Whisky Peak, it's hard not to see them planning together, or counting budgets (or pretending to do that while they have their own conversations).
Kim Dokja would underestimate how attached he'd be, and it is yet another pitfall down the slippery slope of wanting to live.
Sanji would dislike him at first. Kim Dokja doesn't eat well, Kim Dokja avoids any discussion that needs to be had about food, all his dietary preferences are told to him by Yoo Joonghyuk, he bullies Sooyoung-swan how dare he!
But Sanji comes to see that Nami is smiling a lot more (even if it is that money-hungry smile of hers). He sees how much Luffy and Cass and Yoo Joonghyuk seem to hover in his vicinity, how even Zoro has started sleeping less just to talk to someone. Sanji notices how loved and loving Kim Dokja is and Sanji also notices how little Kim Dokja cares about himself.
Sanji starts putting small notes in Dokja's pirate lunchbox "Eat well", a smiley face, maybe some errands to keep Dokja on his toes.
He starts talking to him more, doesn't let him drop the conversation as smoothly as he often does.
Kim Dokja is the least scary of the trio to Usopp. He doesn't have a permanent, menacing scowl like Joonghyuk, or an evil grin like Sooyoung. Compared to those two Kim Dokja's expressions are surprisingly lackluster.
So Usopp does what he does best and tells stories. Sure are they framed as his own courageous exploits? Yes, but they're still stories, and Kim Dokja is a reader at heart.
Kim Dokja listens. He doesn't have exaggerated reactions like Luffy or Chopper, doesn't roll his eyes like Nami sometimes does.
Even after Usopp warms up to the other two, Kim Dokja will remain the one he goes to when he wants to tell his stories.
When Chopper first meets Kim Dokja, he thinks Kim Dokja is weird. He always has such a distant look, that only slightly falters when talking to his crew.
Kureha thinks he's stupid. She is concerned, he doesn't have enough fat on his bones and too much muscle. She gives Sanji and Yoo Joonghyuk a proper diet to help with that.
Once Chopper becomes part of the crew, he's met with the biggest challenge he'll ever face. How to make Kim Dokja not only not kill himself, but to not want to kill himself.
Chopper is Kim Dokja's doctor. Maybe even the first one to care.
When Kim Dokja meets Robin, he feels as if he's found a kindred spirit, a fellow reader, another person with a past they refuse to disclose. Kim Dokja doesn't have a problem with that.
Robin is like him, but she's also not. They complement each other, but they aren't the same.
Kim Dokja knows that Nico Robin is not like Miss All Sunday, that role was a mask, not her true self.
And Robin knows that Kim Dokja is hiding himself from everyone on board. She doesn't push, she doesn't prod. She waits and enjoys the fact that he does the same.
They uncover each other's personalities by just being there, by just existing. And it is refreshing for both of them
In Skypeia, he spends most of his time with her.
They talk and they study and they find the Poneglyph together and they meet Enel together.
Dokja is the closest to Robin than any of the other Strawhats.
Until Water 7.
Until Enies Lobby.
Never have the words "I want to die" saddened him so much. Never have the words "I want to live" shaken him in such a way. When Nico Robin said "Take me away from her, take me with you." He listened.
*claps hands* More Omniscient Oracle's Odyssey!
No one ever meets Luffy without their worldview changing just a little. It's just a fact of the world and Kim Dokja is no exception to that
But besides that, he's just a really simple guy
Kim Dokja is to his companions what Cass would be if they had something like the Fourth Wall themself. Something to keep the lines between fiction and reality separate and clear cut. Cass ends up disregarding that line early on, throwing it out. Kim Dokja clings to it
So Luffy and Cass really just have to tag team bully him with so much love and affection he has the give for a moment. And it would only get easier from there
Zoro is also a simple guy. But he's simple in a way Kim Dokja understands. A typical web novel protagonist than Luffy, who is very much a shonen protagonist.
Zoro is familiar to Dokja in that way, and Dokja prefers that far more to dealing with the unfamiliar
I also find it incredibly funny that Kim Dokja attributes Zoro not being First Mate to Cass, when in reality, if Cass wasn't there, there wouldn't be a First Mate
When Kim Dokja uses [Character Profile] on Cass, he probably sees more than just that. Probably including things Cass doesn't even know yet
Other things Kim Dokja would be privy to would be; Cass birth name before being isekai's, the fact that Cass actually has prophetic powers without the isekai knowledge and there'd probably be a couple more attributes that will not be discussed for spoiler reasons
Also love Cass being called Fate's little meow meow. It's great
Part of me wants Kim Dokja to talk to Cass, isekai to reverse isekai protag, but he won't. Because he's Kim Dokja. Which means that Cass will be the one who eventually has to do so instead (which will sure as shit be a doozy)
Nami and Kim Dokja are in charge of the money. It was something that Cass was more than happy to hand over
The two have their fun scamming people and getting money because they both like it. And they both have Cass's more than substantial savings to fall back on as well, which Cass is more than happy to hand over
Getting sent to One Piece/An Oracle's Odyssey is a very slippery slope for Kim Dokja me thinks, because for all the cast are "characters" they are not from any story Kim Dokja has read. He has no preconceived expectations and it makes it very easy to view them as real people compared to everyone else
Sanji 🤝 Cass 🤝 Kim Dokja
Being weird about food and self destructive w/ daddy issues
Sanji takes a hot second to warm up to him but once he does, he starts treating him like Cass, at least in regards to food.
(I love how treating Kim Dokja like Cass is the Strawhats go to for dealing with Kim Dokja. Really highlights how similar the two can be)
That is to say, he makes sure Kim Dokja eats enough and always attends meals and doesn't let him skip out
After all, no one goes hungry with Sanji in the kitchen
Usopp gets entrapped with Kim Dokja's 'normal guy' charms and Kim Dokja gets entrapped by Usopp's stories
Because, really, the way to Kim Dokja's heart is stories and he's always down to listen no matter how they are framed
Poor Chopper having to deal with Kim Dokja's suicidal tendencies
Good thing he's not alone in the matter
And Robin.
She's similar enough that Kim Dokja understand her, but different enough that she doesn't get his scorn like Cass does in the beginning. This allows them a quiet sort of friendship and understanding they don't get with anyone else
It's nice
And then Kim Dokja witnesses her 'I want to live' speech and there is no way he's walking away from there unshaken

holy shit the zelda timeline is a mess.
ok so you got ocarina of time, right? ganondorf plots and schemes to break into the sacred realm, claiming the triforce and becoming the demon king ganon, before a hero rises up to claim the master sword and defeat him. he is thusly sealed away forever.
then he goes back in time and warns the royal fsmily before that ever happens, leading to ganondorfs execution. this causes a paradox, which creates a branch in the timeline: the ganon-is-sealed timeline, and the ganondorf-is-executed timeline.
wind waker takes place after ganon is sealed. once ganon inevitably returns (a la alttp), there is no hero to save them (because link went to the past) and they turn to the gods for help. this adds up neatly.
twilight princess takes place after ganondorf is executed. the royal family botches the execution, and he is sealed into the twilight realm, where his flesh literally re-manifests from the simmering rage and resentment the twili feel for those who live in the light realm. this adds up neatly.
ok, so far were doing pretty good. we have a clearly defined timeline branch after oot, which leads into majoras mask and then twilight princess very neatly, or wind waker and then phantom hourglass to spirit tracks very neatly, depending on which conclusion you go from. then put skyward sword, which is very clearly first, right at the beginning. this is a really solid chronology, right?
yeah. but what about, like… ALL OF THE 2D GAMES.
a link to the past, oracle of ages, oracle of seasons, links awakening, a link between worlds, triforce heroes, the minish cap, four swords, four swords adventures, the legend of zelda, and the adventure of link…
you can make a solid case for a handful of these on the current timeline i just outlined. but how are you supposed to make alttp work, and by extension oox, la, tloz, and taol?
in ocarina of time, the sacred realm is locked behind the master sword, which is locked behind the door of time, which is locked behind the spiritual stones, which are locked behind the different leaders of the various races of hyrule. they very clearly took a lot of precautions to make sure nobody would get into the sacred realm. they were very clearly worried about that threat.
as such, ganondorf needed to do some significant plotting in order to make his way into the sacred realm. the key to his plans was link, the descendant of hylias chosen hero, who is featured in skyward sword. only link would be able to draw the master sword, so even if ganondorf gathered the spiritual stones he wouldnt be able to enter the sacred realm. this is why he scares link into claiming the master sword by casting various curses on the people of hyrule using regular old dark magic.
this is the accepted tale for the sealing war.
now look at the sealing war in a link to the past…
ganondorf and his band of thieves come across the sacred realm completely by accident. zero scheming involved. absolutely no clever displays of his villainous cunning.
as they approach the sacred realm, the eyes of ganondorf and his bandit allies change colors, and they begin to attack eachother in a bloody, violent brawl. the only one left alive is ganondorf, who had killed his closest allies with his own hands. it is then that ganondorf claims the triforce with blood-soaked hands, becoming the demon king, ganon.
his rage flows across hyrule. the people suffer. they pray for a hero to come and save them - none does. the sages hole up in hyrule castle, placing a seal over the sacred realm - one that presumably did not previously exist - and locking ganon inside. the knights of hyrule laid down their lives to protect the sages; almost every last one of them fell in combat. the link in alttp is the descendent of those few courageous souls who lived.
does this sound, at all, like ocarina of time?
like…
in any shape, way, or form.
outside of the key connection of ganondorf entering the sacred realm, becoming ganon, attacking hyrule, and then being sealed in the sacred realm, it sounds like a completely different story. but its the same event, because its… you know… the creation of ganon.
in alttp, none of the precautions we see in oot were taken. ganondorf quite literally waltzes into the sacred realm and then kills all of his closest friends. and in alttp, there was no link present to save them, which is why the knights of hyrule almost completely died out protecting the sages. meanwhile, in oot, link is the essential key component of ganondorfs carefully laid out plan.
how does nintendo resolve this?
“uhhhh…. what if…….. what if link died? like, after claiming the master sword. after cementing himself as a hero by personally awakening the sages and solving everyones problems. what if he just died at the end of the game, and was completely forgotten by history for some reason we dont provide?”
i feel better already.
link dying would not branch the timeline. the other branch, which makes logical sense and has no contradictions, is done through time travel, not hypothetical what-if scenarios. therefore, it only makes sense that link dying is not any sort of canon conclusion that would branch the timeline.
so for now lets place alttp in the ether. it has an event thats equivalent to ocarina of time, but no precautions were taken for the sacred realm, and no link was present to defeat ganon.
after alttp, the triforce sends link to another kingdom which needs his help. twice. it turns out this was to prevent the revival of ganon, who he killed in alttp. however, he ultimately fails to prevent his revival - so instead he just kicks ganons undead ass. this details the events of the oracles games.
after this happens, he starts sailing home, but a nasty storm catches him and he crash lands on kohilint. im not spoiling this game because its fantastic, but lets just say for now that link goes through an ultimatum type experience that makes him rethink the virtue of this whole adventuring thing before finally sailing home. this details the events of links awakening.
i assume he settled down at this point. his descendent stops a plot by the royal family of an inverted kingdom to steal their triforce. this details the events of a link between worlds. (also. gramps is 100% the link from alttp. resigned from adventure, he instead helps train the new hero in an edu-taining way.)
then, the new link heads out to new kingdoms, much like his predecessor did. he winds up in hytopia, where he is enlisted as one of three heroes to break a curse on their princess. this details the events of triforce heroes.
hundreds of years pass. somehow, ganon returned. the zelda of this time breaks apart the triforce of wisdom and sends out impa to find a hero capable of collecting the pieces and using their power to defeat ganon, who wields the triforce of power. (the triforce of courage is locked away in a land distant to the kingdom, north of hyrule. it looks like the royal family got wise and decided to finally take some precautions to prevent somebody from easily claiming the full triforce.) this details the events of the legend of zelda.
the hylians move north. around 7 years later, greater hyrule is established. link notices a triangular mark on his hand and seeks the wisdom of impa, who recognizes it as the triforce of courage. she brings him to an ancient temple long lost to time and pulls out a manuscript written in unfamiliar symbols; the language was forgotten by history. because link bears the triforce, however, he can read it. it tells him where the triforce of courage is held, and it tells the legend of the first generation zelda, who was cursed into a timeless sleep (leading her guilt-ridden brother to decree all future daughters of the royal family would be named zelda). link sets out to find the triforce of courage and break the curse on zelda the first. this details the events of the adventure of link.
pretty straightforward, clear-cut story. except for the fact that i really dont think skyward swords zelda was cursed in an eternal sleep, neither do i think she had a brother.
it could have been a descendent of the true zelds the first, though. hyrule as a kingdom wasnt really established yet in skyward sword. maybe sonais daughter?
anyways, this story in a vacuum is pretty consistent. but, due to the problems with alttp, it doesnt really fit with the greater timeline. so the longest running story of sequels in the legend of zelda (excluding zelda 1 and 2) just doesnt have a satisfying placement. theres gotta be some other branch, right? some time before the events of ocarina of time, so that the imprisoning wars can truly be parallel events…
depending on your timeline theory, that leaves only minish cap and skyward sword. minish cap doesnt deal with time travel… which leaves skyward sword.
theres one moment in skyward sword that fits the bill pretty well. people refer to this moment as the skyward split. some believe it, some are skeptical, some arent even aware of it. i will propose my theory on the exact nature of the skyward split and let you decide.
in skyward sword, link wishes upon the triforce for the complete destruction of the imprisoned (demise). the mother goddess island detaches from skyloft and falls onto the sealed grounds, perfectly slotting in and just straight of killing that dude permanently. skyloft itself remains in the sky; there is no plateau where the mother goddess island fell, and in fact, its actually kind of set into the ground because of how perfectly it slotted into the spiral shape of the sealed grounds.
sorry. i like matpat as much as the next guy, but skyloft is definitively not the great plateau.
seeing this, ghirahim travels into the past and frees demise fully before his eventual death. he was transformed, in the ancient past, from the imprisoned back into his full humanoid demonic flame-headed self. link follows ghirahim and does battle with demise, defeating him and locking his soul in the master sword, where his very essence would decay into nothing in the presence of the holy light. basically demises fundamental soul was horribly crippled into the tiniest imaginable hateful little fragment of what it once was. and it was only getting tinier. exponentially weaker. no hope of escape until his soul is so worn thin it tears at the seams and he simply ceases to be. thats the idea, anyways.
this marks two fundamentally different, conclusively final endings for demise/the imprisoned. one where he was killed by the triforce as the imprisoned in the present, and one where he was trapped in the master sword only to be eternally decayed at an exponential rate. ironically, the imprisoned met his demise, while demise was imprisoned. but yeah, inevitably demise too will meet his demise.
after getting his ass handed to him, demise recites - or describes, depending on who you ask - a curse. it declares the endless cycle of incarnations of the hatred of the demon clan, who demise ruled. then he gets sealed in the sword and shuts up. its at this point that link and zelda leave the blade under the care of impa and return to the future. the future remains unchanged, however. the imprisoned was still crushed by the mother goddess statue island. so link and zelda returned to their original timeline.
some would say this implies a causal loop. that demise escaped the master sword, then impa sealed him in the sealed grounds, turning him back into the imprisoned for the events of skyward sword. however, demise would have been WAY too weak to ever escape the master sword - im talking barely conscious, let alone functionally powerful enough to overpower a blade containing the power of all three golden goddesses (the sacred flames that temper the goddess blade into the master sword). demise did not escape. therefore, timeline branch.
in one timeline, link and zelda are made aware of the curse that demise spoke of. in the other… well, theyre the only ones that demise spoke to, and that version of them doesnt exist in that timeline, so its safe to say nobodys aware of the curse.
in the timeline where they are aware of the curse, they take precautions. they lock the sacred realm behind the master sword, which they lock behind the door of time, which they lock behind the spiritual stones, which they lock behind the leaders of the various races of hyrule. thus, ganondorf must plot. he must allow link to claim the master sword.
in the timeline where they arent aware of the curse, they dont worry about the sacred realm all that much. they arent even sure where it is, and its not like theres an endless cycle of demonic hate hell bent on destroying everything the gods created or anything. nobody knows where the sacred realm is anyways, so they dont worry about those precautions. thus, ganondorf comes across the sacred realm completely by accident. as for why theres no link…
uh…. what if……… what if link died?
or what if link is just a nameless knight of hyrule, who was not made a legendary hero by saving zelda the first, forging the master sword, or defeating demise?
honestly i dont know why no link was present. whatever answer you like i guess. this timeline is such a mess theres no way to account for every single lore detail

Good things, big or small that have happened on your path so far? I'm here for the times you celebrated ranging from making breakthroughs, the forces with you gave you undoubtable reassurance or anything else really.
This is a great question 🙂
I’m always grateful to my familiars – or at least, I’m tentatively referring to them as such because I still lack a great deal of experience in spirit work. I always used to call them thoughtforms and assumed they were simply an offshoot of my psyche. But they’ve continuously worked wonders in healing and guiding me for over a decade, and have surprised me and demanded respect from me throughout. I owe them everything.
One of the biggest breakthroughs I’ve made is in faith. A lot of work has gone into building trust in my teachers, the deities of my tradition, and my own skills.
I dabbled aimlessly in magic and spirituality for about 6 years due to having deep-rooted trust issues and executive dysfunction. I couldn’t settle or focus on anything, and I would search and pray for gods to take me under their wing only to be immediately discouraged and shut them out. (I had my familiars who helped as much as they could, but in terms of esoteric cultivation I wasn’t making any progress).
Until a certain Buddhist deity walked into my life, and waited patiently for me to notice. For all my fears and delusions at the time, I never once felt insecure in their presence. I was motivated to pray and practice daily, even when my inertia caused all other goals and plans to fall apart.
A year passed. I made a commitment to the dharma and continued to practice everyday.
The strangest thing is that my life changed, but in a completely organic and mundane way. I know that for many practitioners that spiritual initiation is like a roller coaster of experiences, but it wasn’t like that for me. My life changed in the way that the seasons change – slow, subtle, a little bit each and every day, until one day I looked back and realised I was not at all the person I used to be.
There were little miracles in between. Obstacles melted away, both within me and in the world around me. Wisdom and compassion budded and bloomed in my heart and mind. Every day, I became more joyful, calm, and secure.
It wasn’t always rainbows and sunshine, I want to make that clear. But even negative things felt meaningful and taught me valuable lessons. My experiences, both good and bad, lined up like a string of pearls, each one leading me to deeper levels of understanding.
I find Buddhist deities incredibly humble. They will dissolve your obstacles without leaving a trace of their involvement, as if it happened naturally – they’re purely pragmatic – and yet it is also strikingly obvious that it was their work.
One event that comes most strongly to mind is from back when I hadn’t received my driving license yet. I was commuting to work by bike. It was 40 minutes either way, which amounted to about 7 hours a week – it was a huge drain on my energy.
On one of the coldest days in winter, the roads were covered in ice. Still I had no choice but to cycle, as I work in science and my job is lab-based. I fell off about 3 times on the way to work, and aside from a small scrape I was a bit sore but unscathed.
However, I didn’t realise that crashing my bike so many times had undone the quick release screw, which was becoming more loose as I cycled. Aside from the weight of the bike resting on the wheel, there was nothing keeping it attached to my bike.
I crossed a busy roundabout, and as soon as I reached the safety of the pavement on the other side, my front wheel (finally) fell off. I was so shocked, and disquieted by how badly things could have gone had I been in the middle of traffic. I reattached the wheel on the side of the road and made it home without any problems.
At the time, I threw daily dice oracles to receive guidance from my deity. The oracle for that day was called “The Rescue”. Needless to say it felt like a divine intervention, considering I was in a cramped city with shoddy cycle lanes. I’ve had a few near misses, some of it owing to my own ineptitude, but I’ve always been safe.
I hope good things are happening to you too, and I welcome you to tell me about them. Thank you asking 💚

exploration records - memories of a certain disciple (5-6)
5 - The Defeat of the Gods
Drifting in Avelhein, someone’s memories flow.
Maxwell, Cardes, and Zevalhua, members of the Divine Ten, have been defeated by a human using summoning. The only Fallen Gods left are Afla Dilith and Lucius, who remains hidden and is using humans as his pawns. In Restoc's eyes, the battle was already over. He was correct - Afla Dilith was killed soon after that.
At this point, he finally noticed that Lucius had been carefully executing his schemes since long before the God War. With his power of controlling the gates, Lucius had allowed dangerous beings to invade Grand Gaia multiple times. By doing this, he had allowed humans to advance their technology and weaponry. Then he had killed all other high ranking gods who were friendly towards humans, and had the other gods realize that humans were a threat. The God War had been intentionally started by Lucius. He also ordered the humans under his command to attack Karna Masta. Of course, it was impossible to kill him, but he was able to create an opening in this way. He was able to banish Karna Masta to another world and become humanity's savior by leading them to Elgaia.
His plot was successful, but he was wounded by one of his disciples, the Oracle Knight, and had to spend some time recovering. Although he had made some miscalculations, his plan was successful, and Lucius had become the only god left in Grand Gaia. But he was also killed by the same humans that he had used as pawns. Restoc had scoffed - it was a fitting end for a foolish god.
He now had hope - the God Emperor was alive and well. All he had to do was rescue him from Ishgria. And so Restoc set out from the Grand Gaia Seal to Ishgria, the banished land of the gods.
6 - The Corrupted Land of Ishgria
Drifting in Avelhein, someone’s memories flow.
Restoc believed that Ishgria was an ugly world without a shred of beauty. A demon appeared before him, and it was clear that it was not an opponent that could be cut down with one blow. From his words and actions, it was clear that fighting was his only goal. Restoc decided that there was no need to engage him, and shamelessly turn and ran. The demon pursued more persistently than expected, but eventually gave up.
The God Emperor was a being so powerful that even demons feared him, and it should have been easy to locate his presence. Restoc knew this, and was getting impatient. It was clear that Karna Masta had wielded his power here, but Restoc could not sense him. As far as he knew, demons would never work together on anything, and it should have been impossible for any of them to defeat the God Emperor. So did he travel to another world? Maybe.
Feeling that he lacked knowledge of other worlds, Restoc returned home and visited the Library of the Gods - a place beyond the reach of humans, a place of wisdom where only gods may enter. There, he researched Ishgria and worlds that could be reached from there.
He learned that Ishgria was a dead end. Without a power like Lucius', the only way to reach it was through Grand Gaia. (boring!!!!! and also untrue iirc) So either Karna Masta was dormant in Ishgria, or he was dead.
When Restoc entered Ishgria again, he felt that something was off. He had not intended to stay in the library for that long, but the presence of power in this world had changed drastically. The demon who demands fights has also not appeared. Something must have happened.
Restoc cut up a nearby low-level demon without killing it in order to learn what was going on. (so torture. ok) He hears the unbelieveable tale of how the human that killed Lucius also killed Karna Masta while he was sealed away. He travels to the sealed island, senses the remnants of power there, and confirms that the words of the demon are true. There was something that shocked him even more than the fact that his master was dead, or that humans were able to do it. The human had summoned a god in the battle with Karna Masta. Who would have thought that they would have been used as mere tools? The world that Restoc had believed in had collapsed silently. Loss and despair rule him now.

DeFi Insurance: Safeguarding Your Digital Assets
Decentralized finance, also referred to as DeFi, is an emerging peer-to-peer system that aims to eliminate centralized organizations and third parties from financial transactions. It consists of software that enables financial transactions between individuals, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency. Companies like Anbruggen Capital have noted that DeFi has completely changed the financial industry by providing innovative approaches that do not rely on conventional intermediaries. Nevertheless, it carries inherent risks, such as smart contract vulnerabilities, just like any emerging technology. In this situation, insurance is essential for protecting digital assets and minimizing any damages.
Smart Contract Vulnerabilities: A Major Risk
While smart contracts offer numerous benefits, they can be exploited due to vulnerabilities. A real-world example is the Poly Network hack in 2021, where hackers exploited flaws in the smart contract code, stealing approximately $610 million. This highlights the critical need for robust smart contract audits and secure coding practices to protect DeFi users and assets. Dave Martin, Director at Anbruggen Capital, emphasizes that users and the DeFi ecosystem as a whole may suffer significant financial losses as a result of these vulnerabilities.
Why Insurance is Crucial in DeFi
In order to deal with this issue, decentralized insurance platforms have become an essential part of the DeFi ecosystem. DeFi insurance platforms encompass insurance that covers blockchain-related activities as well as blockchain-based alternatives to traditional insurance plans. Self-executing smart contracts are used by DeFi insurance to do away with the need for claims adjusters and even claims. These platforms use blockchain technology to provide insurance protection against a range of risks, such as:
Smart Contract Failures: Guarding against losses brought on by bugs, errors, or malicious attacks that may jeopardize smart contract performance.
Protocol Hacks: Preventing attacks that could drain funds from DeFi protocols. Additionally, compensating losses brought on by DeFi protocol systemic failures.
Oracle Failures: Reducing the risks brought on by inaccurate or fabricated data provided by oracles.
How Decentralized Insurance Works
The risk pooling concept used by decentralized insurance platforms involves users contributing premiums to a shared pool. Additionally,  Anbruggen Capital highlighted that customers can lock up a certain amount of cryptocurrency to avail insurance policies. In the event of an insured event, a portion of these assets are utilized to settle claims.
Key Features of Decentralized Insurance Platforms
Automated Claims Processing: By automating the claims process, smart contracts guarantee prompt and transparent payouts. This reduces processing time and does away with the need for intermediaries.
Risk Pooling: Members combine their individual funds to establish a group insurance fund. The impact of individual losses is lessened by this risk-pooling process, which distributes the risk over a wider group.
Peer-to-Peer Insurance: While peer-to-peer insurance allows users to pool resources and insure each other, it often still relies on governance mechanisms and token holders as de facto intermediaries for decision-making, claims adjudication, and dispute resolution. This structure does not entirely eliminate intermediaries but replaces traditional insurance companies with community-based oversight.
Tokenized Insurance: This refers to representing insurance policies as blockchain-based tokens. This approach allows users to fractionalize their coverage, trade portions of their policies, and customize their coverage plans. It enhances liquidity and flexibility but also introduces challenges in pricing policies and ensuring adequate backing for claims.
Risks and Benefits of Decentralized Insurance
Benefits:
Security: By automating the insurance process with smart contracts, the risk of human error and fraud is significantly reduced. These platforms are designed to be resilient against centralized points of failure, enhancing the overall security of user assets.
Transparency: Since all transactions and payouts are recorded on a public blockchain, decentralized insurance platforms ensure full transparency. This openness fosters accountability and builds trust among participants.
Accessibility: Anyone with an internet connection can access decentralized insurance, regardless of geographic location or financial status. This broadens insurance availability to underserved populations, potentially lowering costs while increasing participation.
Innovation: The decentralized nature of these platforms encourages the development of new and innovative insurance products that are more tailored to specific needs. The open-source environment allows for experimentation and adaptability, catering to a wider range of users.
Risks:
Platform Insolvency: Since DeFi insurance pools rely on user contributions, there’s a risk that if too many claims are made at once or if the pools are inadequately managed, platforms could face insolvency or liquidity issues.
Pricing Complexity: Unlike traditional insurance, decentralized platforms struggle with determining fair pricing for coverage. Since there are no traditional actuaries involved, pricing can become volatile, especially in rapidly changing crypto markets.
Disputes Over Claims: While decentralized insurance platforms automate claims processing, there are still concerns over how claims are evaluated. Disputes can arise, particularly in cases where smart contracts don't fully capture the nuances of an insurance event or where governance systems are slow to respond to conflicts.
Prominent DeFi Insurance Platforms
There are now numerous DeFi insurance platforms available to provide consumers with coverage:
InsureDAO: A decentralized insurance platform that leverages a community-driven approach for risk assessment and claims processing. By allowing token holders to participate in governance, InsureDAO fosters a decentralized and democratic decision-making process.
Protocol Cover: A parametric insurance protocol offering protection against predefined events such as price fluctuations or protocol malfunctions. It automates the claims process, ensuring timely payouts based on specific event triggers.
Nexus Mutual: A decentralized mutual insurance platform that allows users to pool funds and underwrite coverage, offering a decentralized way to insure against smart contract failures and other risks in the DeFi ecosystem.
Etherisc: It is a blockchain-based platform that provides decentralized insurance for various use cases, such as flight delay or crop insurance, enabling users to customize their coverage. By integrating decentralized oracles, Etherisc ensures transparency and efficiency in claims processing.
Conclusion
Despite DeFi's huge potential, it is necessary to acknowledge and prevent potential risks related to smart contract vulnerabilities. Thus, decentralized insurance offers a strong defense for users and the larger DeFi community. By incorporating insurance into their risk management strategy, users—including those from regions like the British Virgin Islands—can protect their digital assets and make well-informed decisions.
