talk about caroline
the star is a metaphor (for me, being a star) / @malka-lisitsa (*note: this is not re: anyone's caroline but more so the way i / flori sees her i.e. my headcanons as to how her life would've played out post tvd are peppered in)
legacies
another note. this time it says: talk about caroline. well, that floribeth can do.
"march 15th, 2025. voice log: number two. subject: caroline forbes." a warm smile blooms on floribeth's lips. "i actually really like headmistress forbes, and it's not because she's basically the only vampire role model i have in this school. i don't know, i just like the fact that she went through so much but came out stronger for it on the other end. makes me feel that i can get through everything life throws at me too."
a nod follows suit. "she's in europe more often than she's here - she's trying to figure out a loophole to the merge. yeah, i know. i'm not supposed to know about it. but between penelope's spelled pens and my, ah, talent for finding out things i shouldn't know, well, one and one is two." floribeth clears her throat. "i mail her more often than not. little updates. generally speaking. just little things to let her know that the school is still standing upright. and that i'm grateful for what she's doing. even if i'm still waiting to be officially drawn into the loop. it's such an easy---i don't know if easy is the right word, per se, but... hybrids are a thing. vampire and wolf hybrids. so it stands to reason, then, does it not, that witch and vampire hybrids are a thing too. i vaguely recall reading something about heretics. very vaguely. like, footnote vague."
Tumblr media
"i won't be drawn into the loop, though. good ideas or not, i'm not part of the super squad." which is okay, truly. "the anti squad is better, anyway." but this is about headmistress forbes and not about the two rival groups. "i do admire her, and i'm glad she's here, and i let her know as such. but we don't see eye to eye on certain issues. on certain... people. maybe it's a vampire thing. or maybe we're both stubborn as hell. either way, we're both long-lived and, honestly, the thought of sharing the earth with ms forbes forever doesn't seem like the worst thing in the world."
Tumblr media
the vampire diaries
bonnie asks her what she thinks of caroline and floribeth fiddles with her daylight ring. it used to belong to someone called ivy. it's hers, now. she cherishes it. she may not have known ivy, but by holding on to ivy's daylight ring, it's like she can hold on to ivy herself, too. everyone deserves to be remembered, do they not?
"i like caroline. she's intense, yes, but also someone who is very deeply committed to doing right by the people she loves. most of the time that goes well. and sometimes it doesn't. to err is to human, and that goes for vampires too. even so, i think she's a lot stronger than other people give her credit for. i think she's a lot stronger than what she gives herself credit for. few of us are turned gently. fewer, still, are turned for love. and i think that katherine must have seen something in caroline. something that was worth digging out. someone with the capability to transform. katherine calculates her moves. thinks ahead. she moves with intention. nothing is done just because."
the younger of the two hums, then. "i just hate the fact that that ghastly gods-awful man---" floribeth's face twists from something sweet to something ugly in half a heartbeat. "---got his talons into her, blood and all." the choice is not up to her, it is not hers to make, not now, not ever, but if she had to pick a salvatore, she'd pick stefan over damon, any damn day of the week. floribeth might not look like it, but she holds a mean grudge.
Tumblr media
"i also think that vampirism suits her." it suits floribeth too, certainly, but vampirism becomes caroline in a way that it hadn't for floribeth herself. like a pretty sundress that is tailor made. "i think she's gonna go far. and i'm happy to go wherever she goes. that is to say, if she wouldn't mind the company." and speaking of company: "i sincerely hope and pray she gets better taste in men, though. that excludes tyler, by the way. he may be a jerk - like jed was - but that's not all he is. and i like wolves." always has, always would.
the younger of the two nods sagely as she arrives at a conclusion: "caroline should get a girlfriend." a gasp escapes floribeth's lips, then. "oh! do you think i could introduce her to charlotte zima?" also one of damon's ex-flames. she lives in willoughby now. has her own diner and everything. "that might distract her from trying to turn me into her next and newest fashion project."

How to Print Individual Letters in Mail Merge
When you need to print individual letters in mail merge, you have several options. You can use the Print Letters feature to automatically send each individual letter from MS-Word to your recipients, or you can use the Letters on File list to select an existing letter to print for a particular contact. If you want to further personalize your letter, you can also click Edit Individual Letters.
Tumblr media
Mail merge is a process that allows you to produce multiple documents (letters, labels, envelopes, or name tags) using information stored in a database, spreadsheet, or other data source. Typically, you create a main document that contains the text for your letters or other content and a separate spreadsheet with the names of people to whom you’ll be sending each individual document.
To begin a mail merge, select the Mailings tab, then choose Start Mail Merge from the Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard group on the ribbon. If you’re using an Excel spreadsheet as your data source, select the spreadsheet and then click OK.
In the Select Recipients dialog box, select the check boxes for the records you want to include in the document, or click Match Fields if your list isn’t matching correctly. Then select OK to continue.
When the wizard is finished, select Close to return to your letter. To verify that your letters appear as you expect, select Mailings > Preview Results and then use the right and left arrows to scroll through your recipients. If you see a live preview of a recipient’s letter, click it to make sure that the names and addresses appear correctly.

always have, always will
Tumblr media
Sero Hanta doesn’t know a life without you by his side. For as long as he can remember, you’ve always been there. You’ve always been his person—always have, always will.
Or so he thought.
Pairing: Sero Hanta x Reader Prompt: Relationship firsts Genre: Fluff, angst, friends-to-lovers Warning(s): None Word count: 2937 A/N: This is my fic for the first BNHA Hangout SFW collab! It was fun writing for Sero (though this fic ended up merging with a different Sero piece I was working on because at one point I was writing into the wrong doc and it just ended up meshing haha). I hope you enjoy, and check out the other fics in the collab here!
Sero Hanta was a straightforward kid.
He liked watching anime, terrorizing the neighbourhood with his school friends, and collecting hero action figures. He also liked spending time with his new neighbour: you.
When you moved in next door, Sero had gone over with his parents to say hello, and to bring by a basket of fresh oranges. The adults had chattered away, introducing themselves and talking about the nearby elementary school, but Sero was focused on the small girl standing behind her mother’s legs with her head peeking out.
“Hi, I’m Hanta,” he introduced himself, walking up to you and holding out a hand.
Almost immediately, you brightened up, grabbing his hand and shaking it. “I’m [Name]!”
“Let’s be friends!”
Sero had no idea what he was getting himself into.
Tumblr media
He wasn’t expecting you to be as much of a handful as you ended up being, considering you were both only five. He could keep up with you, but just barely. You were like a wild child with zero fears, and you dove headfirst into anything and everything. Sero had to reel you in when you got too crazy (jumping off a bridge into the river is crazy, isn’t it?), but for the most part, he liked joining you on your adventures.
His mom laughed at him whenever he came home covered in scrapes and bruises, asking if he had a good day with you. Before you, he’d never come home this exhausted or beaten up, but ever since you showed up, Sero fell asleep as soon as he cleaned up, and would be out cold until his mom woke him up for dinner.
Whenever you came over for dinners, the two of you would run around the house like untameable animals, chasing one another in a game of tag until you fell asleep on the floor next to each other. Sometimes Sero wouldn’t even notice how blistering hot it was because he was too busy having fun.
Sero loved the summertime with you.
Tumblr media
Starting school with you was something Sero was excited for.
What he didn’t realize would be an issue was how everyone wanted to be friends with the new girl that had a cool quirk, and that nobody was running to befriend the kid with big elbows. You were pulled in every direction but his.
“It’s like she doesn’t have time for me,” Sero huffed as he helped his mom take plates to the dinner table.
“You know, Hanta,” his mom chided, ruffling his hair, “it sounds like you’re jealous of [Name]-chan’s new friends.”
He puffed his cheeks out, crossing his arms as he set the plates on the table. There was still a bit of time left before dinner would be finished, so his mom sent him off to play a bit more.
The doorbell rang then, and he wondered who would be visiting at dinnertime.
“Ah, [Last Name]-san!” Sero’s mom exclaimed when she opened the door. “[Name]-chan!”
“Sorry to bother you, Sero-san,” your mom bowed, her hands on your shoulders. “There’s a work emergency at my agency, and [Name]’s dad has a night shift so he can’t watch her. Would we be able to leave her with you for the night?”
“Of course!” Sero’s mom responded, beaming down at you as your mom gives her another bow. “We’re about to have dinner, if you haven’t eaten yet.”
“Thank you so much, you’re an absolute lifesaver!” she turned to you, giving you a gentle kiss to your forehead. “Be good to Sero-san, [Name]. We’ll see you soon!”
You nodded, kissing your mom on the cheek and waving to her as she broke out into a sprint towards her hero agency. “Thank you for having me,” you said softly.
“Come in, [Name]-chan,” Sero’s mom ushered you inside, her hand on your head as Sero peeked his head out from the top of the staircase. “Hanta, can you show [Name]-chan to your room? We can put out a futon for her there.”
He waved to you, watching as you kicked off your shoes and ran up the stairs to him. He led you to his room, watching as you put your backpack down by the door.
“Do you want to play with my All Might figurines?” he asked, and you nodded, taking a seat on the floor in the middle of the room as he pulled two of the figures down from his shelf. He watched the tears well up in your eyes, and he paused, wondering why you were crying when he was about to share his best All Mights with you.
“Mommy didn’t want to leave me alone,” you pouted, cheeks puffed out. “I wish she and Daddy didn’t have to leave all the time, but they’re doing important hero things.”
Sero didn’t know what else to do other than sit down next to you and (hesitantly) hold out his favourite All Might action figure to you. “You can come play when they have to leave.”
You swiped at your eyes for a moment before taking the figure from him. “Okay.”
Sero realized he didn’t mind you making new friends, as long as he still got to play with you like this.
Tumblr media
“Hanta,” you called after him, umbrella in hand. It started raining in the middle of the day, and you knew he didn’t bring one with him. “Let’s walk home together.”
“Thanks,” he grinned, taking the umbrella from you and holding it up between you. You bumped your head against his shoulder, returning his grin as the two of you set off for home.
“W-wait! [Last Name]-chan!”
The two of you turn to look at the boy from your class that called to you. Sero had been split up from you this year, having ended up in a different class, so he didn’t know who the guy was.
“Can… can we talk for a minute?”
You gave Sero an apologetic look. “I’ll be right back, yeah?”
He had an uneasy feeling as he nodded, watching as you ran towards the building and followed the classmate in. He scrolled through his phone as he waited patiently for you.
When you returned, your cheeks were pink and you were a little flustered. Your classmate was nowhere to be found, and you looped your arm through Sero’s as you tugged him forward.
“What happened?” he asked.
Your blush intensified. “He confessed to me.”
Sero felt his heart drop but forced a smile. What would he do if you started dating that guy? “Oh? What did you say, Ms. Popular?”
You jabbed a finger into his elbow, earning you a pained groan. “Shut up, Hanta. I turned him down.”
He didn’t press the issue, which you appreciated as you tried to keep your heart from snapping your ribcage apart with how hard it was still pounding. Takashi was a nice guy that you spoke to from time to time, but other than friendly interactions in class, you hadn’t really noticed him much. His confession came as a surprise, and you had gently turned him down.
“Are you dating Sero-san?” he had asked, hands fisted at his sides as you shook your head.
“Hanta is my best friend,” you said softly, cheeks pink as Takashi gave you a small smile.
“He doesn’t know how you feel, then?”
You had sputtered, completely flustered as Takashi laughed warmly.
“He’s a lucky guy.”
Tumblr media
You didn’t get the chance to take the U.A. entrance exam with Sero, as students from the same middle school were placed in different testing areas. The goal was to immobilize the villains, which should’ve come easy to Sero with his Tape Quirk. Thankfully, you found it wasn’t too difficult for you either. The two of you had recounted your exams in great detail to one another, and you were both confident in the other’s performance.
When the letter came in the mail the week after, you hadn’t even opened it before running to Sero’s house, your body tingling with excitement.
“Did you—”
“No—”
“Let’s open it together—”
“Come—”
The two of you were complete messes as you sprinted to his room, plopping onto the floor in front of one another as you both took a deep breath and opened the envelope.
A small disk fell out of the envelope, and a projection came up of All Might.
Tears sprung to your eyes, and you threw yourself into Sero, arms wrapped around his neck as he fell onto his back. The same disk had come out of his own envelope, and the two All Mights were speaking over one another incoherently as you rubbed your cheek against Sero’s.
“We’re going to U.A.!”
Tumblr media
“So are you and [Last Name] a thing, Sero?”
He nearly choked on his drink, sputtering as his eyes darted around the table for you. Luckily, you were still in line for soba with Todoroki.
“W-why would you ask me that?”
Ashido grinned, her chin propped up in her hand as she leaned across the table. “We see the way you look at her.”
“You’re not slick, dude,” Kaminari added, slurping his juice box. “When she walks by, you’re practically ogling her.”
“N-no—”
“I don’t blame you, Sero. Those legs,” Kaminari continued, letting out a low whistle.
Before Sero could smack Kaminari across the back of his head, Ashido kicked him from under the table. “Shut up, Kaminari.”
“Hey,” you interrupted, sliding your tray onto the table next to Sero as he scooted his chair over. “Sorry that took so long, Todoroki’s order took forever.”
Sero hummed. “No worries.”
You saw the way he eyed your food and grinned, waving it in front of him tauntingly. “Want some, Hanta?”
He grinned, his chopsticks scooping up a mouthful of noodles before you could really even react.
Tumblr media
You knocked on Sero’s door, opening it when you heard a soft ‘come in’ from the other side.
“Can’t sleep?” he asked, head hanging over the edge of his bed as he scrolled through his phone.
You shook your head, gently closing the door behind you as you took a seat on the floor next to his bed. You gently bumped your head against his, your cheek rubbing his as he laughed softly. His hand came to cup your other cheek, squishing it gently.
“Want to watch a movie?”
You hummed softly, nodding as he grinned. He blew a raspberry against your cheek, earning him a laugh from you as he flipped himself upright. You watched as he grabbed his laptop from the desk and plopped down next to you on the floor, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he typed in his password and pulled up a streaming site.
“Any requests?” he asked, nudging you. You shook your head, resting your chin on his shoulder as he scrolled through the list mindlessly. He laughed softly when you blew a huff of air into his hair, tickling his face—a signal for him to speed up his pick.
He settled for a romantic comedy, setting his laptop down on the floor. When he leaned back, you settled in next to him with your arm looped through his, your fingers tracing along his elbows as you rested your head on his shoulder.
“Hanta,” you whispered, lacing your fingers through his lazily as he turned his head to you. “I love you.”
His heart seized. “Love you too,” he murmured, rubbing his cheek against the top of your head. Every so often, you’d say it to him out of the blue, catching him off-guard. But he’d always taken it as a platonic, ‘you’re my friend for life’ type of love.
“Not just as my best friend,” you murmured, lifting your head to stare him down. “Hanta, I love you.”
Huh?
“I’ve confessed to you like, twenty times in the last three years alone,” you whined, a pout on your lips as you watched him turn to face you. “And every time, you think I’m saying it as just friends.”
There was absolutely no way that Sero’s jaw wasn’t on the floor right then and there. He gaped at you, eyes wide and cheeks pink. It took you snapping your fingers in his face a few times to bring him back to his senses, and even then he was still a sputtering mess.
How many years had he fantasized about this? Dreamed of you? Wondered what it would feel like if you loved him too? It felt like all his years of pining, of yearning, were finally paying off, and he scrambles to compose himself enough to give you an answer.
“I love you too,” he whispered, fingers shaking a little as he reached for your hand. He laced his fingers through yours, like he’d done a million times before, and yet it felt as if it was infinitely different this time around. “Always have, always will.”
Tumblr media
Everyone says that being with someone you love is like being on cloud nine. What they don’t tell you, is that sometimes it doesn’t work out the way you want it to, and sometimes it ends.
Somewhere along the way, the words became emptier, and the kisses you shared became dull. Your minds were both a million miles away half the time, focused so heavily on school and your internships, and the other half neither of you could find the words to fill the heavy silence that seemed to always hang over you.
What was once your beautiful, bright friendship slowly transformed into something else—something heavier and emptier than it was before.
“Hanta,” you began, coming to a stop next to him as the two of you leisurely made your way back to the dorms. You had met up at the end of your internships to get dinner together, which had passed uneventfully.
“What’s up, [Name]?”
He watched you take a deep breath, eyes closed for a moment before you opened them and looked straight at him. It sent a chill down his spine, and all of a sudden, he felt a little queasy.
“I think we should break up.”
There were those six words, the words that anyone in a seemingly happy relationship dreaded hearing out of the blue. But for you, it wasn’t out of the blue—everything that the two of you had loved doing together, everything that had taken on a new colour, a new meaning, when you first started dating had slowly become grey and dreary over the last year.
Sero couldn’t really pinpoint when or why it happened, but it did. And it made him sad to think that after all these years with you—after pining after you for so long—the two of you didn’t work as a couple.
“Alright then,” he replied softly, watching as you gave him a sad smile and tippy-toed to reach his face. Your hand was soft against his cheek when you pulled him down for one last kiss, and he couldn’t help the way he wrapped his arms around you as he kissed you back. When you pulled away, he couldn’t help the tears that clouded his vision, despite how desperately he tried to will them away. “I guess this is it, then.”
“I still want to be friends,” you said quietly, as if it were a consolation prize. “I still want to be your best friend.”
But unluckily for Sero, that wasn’t the way it went.
Tumblr media
Watching the girl he’d loved his entire life fall in love with someone else was quite the experience.
It started slowly, with you hanging out with him less and less. You stopped answering your texts quickly, and eventually just forgot to respond altogether most days. Sero no longer studied with you, or ate lunch with you, or got to spend nights in your room watching dumb movies together, and it felt like losing a limb. He’d think that it was still there sometimes from how easily he could maneuver through his life, but then when something happened and he tried to turn to you, you were gone. A phantom limb.
One day, Kirishima let it slip that he had seen you out on a date with Todoroki Shouto, and Sero felt his heart snap in half. He wasn’t necessarily an insecure person, but hearing you’d moved onto the Prince of 2-A himself just… it took the cake, to be frank.
Sometimes, relationships just didn’t work out. Sero just never thought that he would be on the receiving end of that misfortune.
Tumblr media
Sero still thought of you a lot.
He couldn’t help it; it was an instinct that formed over years of close friendship, and it was infinitely more difficult to get rid of. Whenever he saw something that reminded him of you, his first response was almost always pulling out his phone to snap a photo to send to you, until he pulled up your contact card and remembered that the two of you don’t talk much anymore.
It didn’t hurt as much anymore—it was like a dull ache, less pronounced than the sharp pain it once was. Sometimes Sero forgot about it completely, and other times it came crashing down on him like an intrusive thought—an unwelcomed guest that made its home in his heart—that refused to go away.
People say that the first heartbreak is the hardest. Sero now knew that it wasn’t necessarily the heartbreak itself that hurt the most, but rather everything that came after. He was always looking for you, even though he didn’t want to—even if he didn’t realize he was.
He always had, and always will.

5 and 9 for the ship headcanon meme, Will/Frankie
Okay, so this ask is so old it probably has its driver's license by now, but the questions were 5) Who says "I love you" first, and 9) What's the most embarassing thing they've done in front of each other?
(credit goes to @tyrsenian for the fire alarm idea, and to listening to me complain about having no ideas.)
5. Hoo, I have a lot of thoughts about this one. It's Will, of course. At least, it's Will that says those three words first. But Frankie is really the one to say it first, just not in so many words. She says it when she makes him coffee the way he likes. She says it when she lets him sleep with his head on her shoulder on the plane. She says it when she lets him steal her granola bars and make her watch James Bond and stupid romcoms and critique her choices of wine. Her face says it loud whenever she looks at him, but it takes her a long time to say it clear.
There's a hundred ways it could've happened. Blood and smoke and fear that time is running short, but that wasn't how it went.
When Will says it for the first time, it's burning on the tip of his tongue like it has a few times before. It's a small moment; they've stopped at a gas station and when Frankie comes out, she's brought him M&Ms. He'd been telling Susan a few days before, just mindless chatter, that he hadn't had M&Ms in so long. He hadn't even known Frankie was listening. This time, Will doesn't hold the words back. "I love you," he says.
It comes with a caveat. "You don't need to say anything," he adds. "I just wanted to make sure you know."
Frankie doesn't smile, but some of the shock fades from her face and she nods. Then, when she's merged them back onto the highway, she takes his hand.
When Frankie says it for the first time, it's a quiet moment. They're watching a hockey game on TV that neither of them are particularly invested in. Will is laying between her legs with his calves over the arm of the couch, his head on her shoulder and her arms around him. He's running the tips of his fingers over her knuckles and the motion of it is threatening to put her to sleep.
"That was a cross check," Will mumbles drowsily.
"I love you," Frankie says.
Will jerks awake and turns over in her arms so he's propped on his elbows.
"Yeah?" he asks with that smile that twists her up inside.
"Yeah," she says.
She has to lean down so he can kiss her. It's awkward and it's perfect.
9. Pt. 1
"Hey, Frankie?"
"What," she grouses as she squeezes toothpaste from the tube.
"Why is Love, Actually on your recently watched list?" Will asks.
The blob of toothpaste falls off the bristles and into the sink. "It's not," she says quickly.
"Well, no one else on this team is named Frankie, so you're clearly logged in."
"No I'm not."
"I do know how to read, you know."
"Well, you're certainly old enough to have learned by now," she quips.
"Oh my god, and You've Got Mail?! You told me you didn't like it."
"I didn't. I hated it."
"Not according to your Netflix history."
"It's a mistake," she says around her toothbrush.
"I feel like someone should owe me money. Like I should've made a bet on this."
Frankie dries her hands and leans out the door. "Will, if you ever make a bet based on any of my personal habits, I'd just like to remind you that there is still paperwork filed with my agency granting me permission to kill you, free and clear."
Will looks up from the tablet, entirely unfazed. "So you admit it isn't a mistake."
"I didn't say that; it's totally a mistake." She kneels on the edge of the bed beside him and reaches for the tablet.
"Nope," he says, altogether too smug. He jerks the tablet away and wraps an arm around her shoulders, hooks a knee over her hip, and uses the leverage he has to roll her over him and deposit her on her back beside him. She just huffs. "It's definitely not a mistake," he says happily as he leans back against the pillows again.
"At least let me choose something," Frankie says, holding her hand out expectantly.
"Fine."
She takes the tablet, and a moment later hands it back. Will looks blankly at the sign-in screen.
"I thought you were choosing something?"
"Yeah," she says, "I'm choosing to not let you look at my Netflix history."
"You're embarrassed!"
"I'm not embarrassed," she says without looking at him.
"You definitely are."
She turns her head to look him in the eye. "Kill order, Will."
"Okay, okay. You're definitely not embarrassed by this at all, not even a little bit. Sure. But this means you've forfeited your right to pick tonight. And now I want to watch You've Got Mail."
"Will, no," she whines.
"Oh, yes. Now that I know you like it, we can watch it all the time."
"I hate you," she grouses as she moves a little closer to see the screen.
"I know," Will says with a smile.
9. Pt. 2
Frankie's hand on his knee is the only thing keeping him together. The sirens are off, at least, but the flashing lights on the trucks are just worsening his headache.
"It's okay, Will," Frankie insists beside him.
"It's not," he groans.
She's been all but pasted to his side since they ended up out here, her shoulder against his, her leg against his from hip to ankle. He appreciates the attempt at comfort, even if it does little to actually make him feel better.
"It's not like this kind of thing never happens," Frankie says.
"It hasn't since I lived here."
"Well you guys are lucky, then," she laughs.
"Not anymore," he mutters.
"Come on," Frankie protests. "It's not that big of a deal. Everything is fine. We're just going to have to, you know, clean."
"Everyone probably hates me."
Frankie looks around at the very unhappy group of residents milling about, casting irritated glances at their building and the fire trucks across the street. "I wouldn't necessarily say you're their favorite person right now," she says, "but that won't last long. It's, like, impossible to stay mad at you."
"Even for you?" he teases.
"Well, I have a lot of practice. But don't think I'm not going to use this to my advantage when convenient."
Will groans and leans his head on her shoulder.
"The building is clear; you can return to your apartments," one of the firefighters announces through a bullhorn.
The crowd of residents mutters a chorus of "thank god" and "finally" and begin filtering back inside.
"Will Chase," the firefighter with the bullhorn says as he motions for Will to cross the street
"Oh God," Will moans.
"It's okay," Frankie says. "It's fine."
"It's not," he moans again.
"Come on, I'll come with you."
"You don't have to."
"I'm your partner. I go with you into danger all the time."
"That doesn't make me feel better," Will says, but when Frankie smiles, he does feel a little better. "I think I just want to talk to him alone," he says.
"Okay. I'll be right back, then."
"Wait, where are you going?" he asks as she turns down the street.
"Don't worry about it," she says with a smile.
"At least take this," he says, shrugging out of his jacket and throwing it at her before she can decline the offer again.
"Fine," she huffs, pulling it over her sweatshirt.
The firefighter wastes no time when Will finally makes it across the street. "Your oven is a mess, but there's no lasting damage, luckily. What was it?"
"Frozen pizza."
"Frozen pizza doesn't do that."
Will frowns. "It does if you leave the cardboard under it, apparently."
"Yeah, that'd do it."
"I travel a lot, for work, and I'm just really jetlagged; I can't believe I did that."
"Well, don't do it again," the firefighter says, ignoring Will's embarrassment. "You wouldn't believe the stuff we see, though. This is nothing."
"Yeah," Will says, unconvinced.
"Go get some sleep," the firefighter laughs.
Will ends up trudging up the stairs after most of the other residents of his building have already gone back to bed. He's staring hopelessly at the charred mess in his oven when Frankie knocks on the door. The only thing he's managed to accomplish was standing the spent fire extinguisher back up.
"I forgot my keys," Frankie says when he opens the door.
"Where did you go?"
"To get dinner," she says. "Go sit down. I don't think I trust you to cook right now."
"Oh, you're hilarious."
"We can clean this up tomorrow."
"How are you not as tired as I am," he mutters as he moves to sit on the couch.
"Well, I was, but the fire alarm going off did a pretty good job of waking me up."
"Funny," Will says flatly.
"Not really."
Will wakes to his foot being nudged.
"Here." Frankie hands him a microwaved mac and cheese cup. "Cheers." She taps hers against his. "And this is for your headache," she says as she hands him a bottle of ibuprofen, "because I finished what you had in the bathroom when I was here last week and I wasn't sure if you'd had the chance to buy more."
"Thank you," Will says as she sits down.
"You're welcome. But it's almost three a.m. now and I'm not going home. And I'm also not sleeping on your couch after that flight, so you're sharing your bed."
Will laughs. "Okay."

Empowerment Technologies
About Us     This course covers topics on information and communications technology, applied productivity tools with advanced application techniques, Imaging, and design for the online environment, online platforms. This contains the assessment of one of the students in St. Teresa if she applied the elements that ICT has.                                 Activity 1: Differentiate Web 1.0 to 3.0
Tumblr media
This is the first activity that we had in ETS. It reminds me of how big is the field of ICT because I didn’t expect that ICT has a wide variation, I always thought that ICT is only about computers, and I was grateful because I was able to differentiate the different websites.
                                         Activity 2: Privacy Policy
Tumblr media
I chose this activity because I was able to share my thoughts about the privacy policy of Facebook. I was  able to read again and gain more knowledge about how Facebook secured my account.
                                        Activity 4: Creating Mail Merge
Tumblr media
This is my favorite activity in ETS because I gain interesting knowledge about Microsoft. I did not expect that mail merge does exist, and the word “mail merge” was new to me. When Ms. Lindo discussed this lesson, I was interested because it was new to me, and for me, it was hard to create mail merge but when I was doing the activity, I find it quite easy and fun because it was so engaging to encode all of the information that the letter should have, and it was not so hassle to make because you just need to create a one piece of the letter.
                                   Activity 5: Create an Infographic
Tumblr media
This is also one of my favorites because I missed editing in canva, and this gave me the chance to edit again and explore my creativeness in editing infographics. When I was editing this one, I felt grateful because, in this way, I can showcase the field of the HUMSS strand. Promoting the strand that I have, is one of the best feelings because some of the people are scared to get the HUMSS strand because they always think that it always reporting in the class, well it’s true but, there are other things that we can engage ourselves in the field of HUMSS strand.

It’s All About Family
this isn’t requested, it’s just something I brainstormed with @just-jordie-things and she thought it was good so here it is.
Word count: 2924
Summary: Nova is a successful business woman with a secret. When her family is put in danger she’s called home to Italy to resume her place as the Mafia Boss. She brings along her assistant Lydia, to keep in touch with her work while she’s away.
***A/N again sorry...: this is going to have “parts” and different points of view. I hope yall like it 😇
Tumblr media
I stepped out of my car and headed into the building, star industries was in big red letters on the top of the 50 story building
My white stilettos clicked on the black marble floor, as I made my way to the elevators.
“Morning miss” the elevator operator said
“Good morning David” I said smoothly, checking my watch for the time
We ascended to the top floor and I stepped out. “Have a good morning David” I called over my shoulder, my cream overcoat swaying behind me.
“You too miss” I heard him call before the doors shut
“Good morning Jackson, Lydia” I said to the two seated at the desk near the elevator
“Good morning miss, I have your tea and mail” Jackson smiled “should I follow you to your office ms.star?”
“Sure Jackson, Lydia, hows my day looking?” my calculating eyes slid over to the lovely pale woman
“Well, you’ve got a meeting with Anderson Corp CEO in an hour, and lunch with your parents at noon” she looked over the schedule book and into my eyes
“Very good, phone me when Andrew gets here” I turned around and headed to the only white door
“Yes of course ms.star, will you be meeting in your office, or in the west conference room” she questioned.
“My office, it’s quite an informal meeting dear” I winked at her over my shoulder, her cheeks flushed.
“Yes ma’am” she said quietly and averted her eyes from mine
Jackson opened the door to my office, and I settled into my chair. I set my white Hermès bag in my desk and opened my computer. A few emails, a few reminders. But what caught my attention was a blinking notification in the corner
“CALL ME” in all capital letters.
Jackson was getting ready to pour my tea, “I’ll get myself thank you Jackson, I’m not quite ready to have a cup” I have a tight smile. Trying to hide the fact that my entire mood had plummeted.
“Yes ms. Star, do you want me to go ahead and open the mail” he asked, an innocent question, but I just wanted him gone
“No jackson, thank you, go down the cafe, and get you and Lydia something, no charge, tell Brayden I said so”
I nodded a dismissal to him. Please leave, please leave. Please don’t have any more stupid questions.
I watched his retreating back hoping he wouldn’t have another question. The door shut softly behind him.
I pulled out my iPhone 10X. And quickly dialed the number.
It picked up on the second ring.
“Come home nova.” Was all he said. My second in my life, my bestfriend, my extended family.
“What’s wrong Jacob” my voice was thin, hollow, calculated
“Well w-we lost...we lost Francis, well we-we didn’t lose him, h-he was taken” Jacob said
My heart stopped, my child, my son, my only reason for living.
“Who has my son Jacob” I said rising from my desk, and heading to the closet on the side.
“The Spanish” he breathed
“Why would the cartel want my son, no one is supposed to know about him Jacob. What. Did. You. Do” my gritted my teeth. And pulled off my cream coat and pulled down the zipper of my white dress.
“Nothing ma’am, they just took him, I don’t think they know he’s your son, but they know he’s important, Francis doesn’t go anywhere without at least 5 of us, they know he’s important” Jacob quickly spoke. Trying to explain, get all the words out.
I pulled on a black tank top bodysuit, black jeans and a leather jacket “find him Jacob. You better know where he is by the time I land. If not it’s your head” I hung up.
I pulled on some back thigh high boots. And shoved a knife in them, and pulled my handgun out of my bag and put it in my back, under my jacket.
I pulled open my door and stepped out of my office “Lydia” I called down the hallway, making quick steps towards her desk
“Yes ma’am” she was up in an instant
“Call my pilot, tell him I’ll be there in 30 minutes and to fuel up and be on standby we’re going to Italy, cancel my meeting with Andrew and tell him we will talk about it tomorrow, make a reservation for my parents at the Dal and let them know I will not be in attendance and that they can have whatever they please, and then grab your purse, and jacket, and meet me downstairs.” I said standing at the elevator
She looked at me trying to process “Do you understand me Lydia”
“Yes ma’am, yes” and she picked up the phone.
The elevator ride down was silent. David said nothing but let me out in the garage.
I clicked my key and my bmw started up.
I pulled out of the parking lot and Lydia was standing in front
She slid into the seat her hair frizzy from running her hands through it
She fumbled with her thumbs nervously
“Speak Lydia what is it” I said to her. As I pulled us on the freeway.
“Where are we going? Why did you bring me? What’s going on?” She said, scared
“We’re going to the airport, I’m bringing you because I need you, and someone took my son from me, I’m going to get him back” I answered her calmly
“I didn’t know you had a son” she looked towards me.
“No one knows I have a son..well no one knew I had a son, he needed to have a normal life” I merged into the carpool lane and sped up “anything else”
“Why are we going to Italy” her eyes cast down to her lap
“Because that’s where my home is” I said in a duh tone
“But why?” She pushed
“Because Lydia, I’m the boss of the Italian mafia.”
She gasped when we arrived to the airport. She hadn’t said anything since I mentioned I was the boss.
I needed her Incase someone called from work, and bringing a man around all my guys was a bad idea, considering the last time.
“Am I going to die” she whispered, I almost didn’t hear her
“No Lydia, you’re not going to die, you’re going to be fine” I patted her shoulder and pulled into the tarmac next to the plane. My door was opened immediately, my bag was taken out of the trunk by the stewardess. “Ms.Santarillo, where would you like these?” “In the back bedroom thank you Stacy”
She nodded and headed up into the plane
“Santarillo, I thought your last name was star.” Lydia questioned
“An alias” I shrugged my shoulders and ascended the stairs, I looked over my shoulder at the top “coming?”
She nodded quickly and followed me
Stacy came sauntering into the main area of the plane “champagne, ms.santarillo? For you and your friend” she looked skeptically at Lydia
“No Stacy, I’ll have a water, do you want something Lydia?” I looked over to her, asking for a response
“No thank you ma’am” she pulled a tight smile across her face. “That will be all Stacy, thank you” I waved my hand dismissively.
Stacy nodded and scurried away, the plane took off and soon we were in the air.
“You have something to say Lydia. What is it” I watched her from the corner of my eye, she was taking deep breaths and trying not to fidget.
“I just don’t understand, who are you” she looked me in the eyes
“Lydia, I will not repeat myself again after this so pay attention. When I was growing up my father was the boss of the Italian Mafia and a very successful businessman. I being his only child was set to inherit everything he had when he decided enough was enough. I was groomed, trained, and taught everything I needed to know to run the business and the mafia. On my 21st birthday it was announced that I was now the boss. A year later I had fallen pregnant with my son, Francis, I raised him for 5 years, before I’d introduced him to all of his “uncles” in Italy, where he’d be able to live a normal life, around our culture until I felt he was ready to take over the business. I’ll never tell him about this mafia nonsense. He doesn’t need to be apart of this life. But someone has taken him, and I’m going to get him back. You are here to keep me in touch with my work. You’ll stay in the house, under my protection, for the duration of our stay. If you have any more trivial questions, google it” I rose from my seat and lent over the table the separated us. She shrunk into her seat.
I tucked a hair behind her ear “Lydia, you’re going to be fine, I promise” I kissed her on both cheeks, “there’s a bedroom for you when you’re feeling tired” I stood up straight and smiled at her, then headed to my own bedroom to shower and try to figure out what hell im going to raise to get back my child.
The plane landed smoothly and I emerged from my room in a skin tight black dress that stopped at my calves, black red bottom heels, a black velvet overcoat with a satin red lining, and a black Hermès bag. Deep red lips, and my hair was pin straight stopping just above my shoulders.
“Stacy, wake Lydia and tell her I’ll be waiting in the car” I said as I walked past her
“Yes ma’am, right away, and welcome home” she smiled and made her way to the other bedroom
I descended the stairs and headed over to my black Escalade “Jarvis, lovely to see you” I kissed both my drivers cheeks. “You as well nova, welcome home” he opened my door and ushered me in.
I texted Jacob that I had landed and would soon be on my way there.
Lydia came down the stairs, looking a bit disoriented, her hair was slightly stuck to her face and her once crisp lilac dress was just a bit wrinkled. She squinted at the sun and made her way towards the car
Jarvis opened her door and she slid in
I set my phone down and looked over at her “ I trust you slept well”
She pulled her hand through her hair “Yes, thank you, that bed is heaven” she sighed and rolled her shoulders
Jarvis hopped into his seat “to the manor ma’am?”
“Yes Jarvis” I nodded and pulled up Jacobs contact
“Very good ma’am” he started up the car and left the airport
I put the phone to my ear, it only rang once
“I’m here”
“We found him, they’re still here in Italy” his confidence was illy placed.
“I should still have your head, for allowing him to be taken in the first place. Jacob it is your responsibility to essentially babysit. You’re supposed to know where he is, what he’s eating, who he talks to. That is the job I gave you. And if there is a scratch on my sons head when I get him, I will not hesitate to put one between your eyes. You better pray that he’s in perfect condition” my eyes were dark, blazing pools of green fire.
“I know, I’m sorry nova, I am, I’ll get him back, I swear” he was pleading.
“Have the twins ready, and briefed. Since you can’t handle looking after my son, you’ll be staying back with my assistant Lydia, I don’t have the patience for incompetence” I rolled my eyes. And looked over to Lydia. She was staring wide eyed at the back of the seat in front of her.
“Yes boss”
“Good” I hung up.
“Jarvis, let’s stop and get Lydia something to eat, she looks like she’s going to pass out” I smiled looking into his rear view mirror
“Yes ma’am, where to?”
“Bellàgricio, will be just fine” I nodded
“Yes ma’am”
We arrived shortly, Jarvis opened the door for Lydia and I, to the restaurant, I could feel Lydia’s awe from behind me. I owned this restaurant so the host sat is rather quickly, Jarvis stood by the door, surveying the people in attendance. “What would you like? Whatever you want” I looked over at her.
“This is a lot, I mean, I’m not dressed for this, and you look incredible and how can I be seen with you, you’re basically a celebrity and then there’s the ma-“ I interrupted her “don’t finish that sentence, pick something to eat, I’m not asking” I clipped my tone.
She gave a swift nod and I signaled the waitress
“Ma’am?”
“I’ll just have a glass of red wine....” I looked up to the waitress, at her name tag “Analisa”
“Which one ma’am” she asked
I licked my lips, and made eye contact “mmm, your favorite” she flushed. And smiled shyly
“A-and for yo-you miss?” She looked over to Lydia, but snuck another glance at me, I winked at her
Lydia ordered.
“I just have a question” she blurted out
“Sure” I settled my eyes on her
“Where is Francis’s father” she mumbled
“Pardon?” I leaned forward
She cleared her throat, squared her shoulders, and tried to look me in the eyes “his father, where is Francis’s father?”
“Mm, dead probably” I said with not much emotion.
Analisa came back and poured my wine. I took a sip, “delicious, thank you Analisa” she nodded and hurried away, her face red in the cheeks
“What do you mean dead” Lydia whispered
“I mean, someone probably put a bullet in his head” I whispered back, “why are you whispering” I laughed at her.
“There’s no need to whisper, he’s probably dead, and if he isn’t, what do I care” I shrugged.
Lydia’s plate was placed in front of her. She dug in and ate silently. I signaled Jarvis and he made his way over. “Get her another meal to go, we need to get home. Before we run out of daylight.”
“Very good ma’am”
“And make sure Analisa is given a nice tip. How much was the bill?”
“$375, ma’am”
“Tip her 1,000” I handed him the cash.
He nodded and walked over to the desk.
“I’m so sorry” Lydia said, now seemingly uninterested in her food.
“For?” I looked through my text messages and sent one to Laura, and Bethany, that I’d be at the house and to have the twins meet me.
“That bill was ridiculous” she gaped
“I must not pay you enough” I laughed. “Are you finished?”
“Umm yes” she nodded.
“Let’s go then.” I rose from my seat, and headed out but before I got to the door
“Your boyfriend is very lucky” came a slimy voice from the bar I was passing
I turned around and looked at Lydia, but he was looking at me.
“I don’t have a boyfriend” I said icily.
“Then I guess it’s my lucky day” he reached out for me. I took a step back, and went to turn around.
“C’mere bitch” he lunged for me.
Lydia screamed and stood stock still. I pulled his middle finger back, kicked in his knee and pulled out my gun and placed it to his temple.
“Give me a reason to blow your head off” I said calmly. His eyes were screwed shut, and the restaurant was silent. All that could be heard was the incoherent whispering from the mans mouth. It sounded like a prayer.
I leant down to his ear. “Prayers won’t save you now. Welcome to the lions den. Someone will come fetch you, your life is mine now.”
He nodded. I released him, “Jarvis have one of the guys come and collect this one, he can work in the kitchen” and put my gun back in my bag and breezed past Lydia. “Yes ma’am” Jarvis said and pulled out his phone. Lydia followed, in a daze.
We finally arrived at the house. Cars lined the driveway. Lydia gasped. “This is your house?”
“Welcome to Santarillo manor, Miss Lydia” Jarvis said.
We got out and walked up the stairs to the front door. I flipped up the tab on the handle and used my fingerprint. The door opened and we stepped inside.
Maids were running about cleaning and handling laundry. We walked through the foyer and into the sitting room. There were five men seated the twins Leo, and Landen, Jacob, Geovanni, and my father, Antonio.
I help my hand up for Lydia to stop.
“Daddy, why are you here?” I questioned, looking over at Jacob. He shrugged “someone took your son, my grandson, the only continuation of my bloodline. I’m here to help find him” he crossed his arms over his chest.
I rolled my eyes. I looked over my shoulder, Lydia was looking at the floor. I gestured to a maid. “Take her upstairs and show her to the room next to mine. The one with the adjoining door, get her something to wear from Jacobs sister Mia. Introduce them, and report back to me when you’re finished.”
“Yes senora” she nodded waiting to take Lydia away.
I look at Lydia “I’ll come find you when I’m finished, take any calls for me, and write them down, schedule all meetings for next week, and call Jackson, tell him you’re fine and to not expect you until tomorrow evening if all goes smoothly, we will be leaving tomorrow. Understand?”
“Yes ma’am” she nodded and was ushered away
