How You Get The Girl: Bonus Scene
Helloooo Lovelies!!
So, this is incredibly embarrassing on my part, but I accidentally uploaded the wrong chapter for last week's update ..... Somehow I skipped a chapter and I posted Chapter 21 instead of Chapter 20. I realize I could just skip this and move on and no one would know, BUT I really like this scene and I wanted to share!! I updated AO3, so that the story is in it's intended order <3.
This scene takes place before the events of Chapter 20.
“Is this ok?” Elain asked, spinning in a way that caused her yellow sundress to fan out around her. Her strappy sandals sliding over the hardwood floor and her arms extended to keep herself steady.
Azriel smiled down at her, his eyes light and full of affection as she twirled in front of him.
“It’s perfect, El.” Azriel said softly, and Elain's heart squeezed in her chest.
“You never called me that before.” Elain said, stopping herself as the world continued to spin around her.
His hands found her hips to steady her even though she was no longer moving, and absentmindedly Elain’s hand floated up to land on Azriel’s shoulders. The heels on her sandals putting their lips closer together.
His brow furrowed as he asked, “Really?” Elain nodded in confirmation, leaning closer to him. “Do you like it?”
“Yes,” Elain said, her cheeks plumping from her smile. “Very much so.”
Azriel tightened his grip on her hips in a flirtatious squeeze, the corner of his eyes creasing as he grinned down at her.
“You still won’t say where you’re going?” Feyre asked from the kitchen, Nyx propped on her hip as she gazed at them with a happy, cupid like smile.
“It’s a surprise.” Azriel called back, not taking his eyes off of Elain.
“Mor knows.” Feyre said in a tone that would have been petulant if not for the giddiness in her voice.
Azriel rolled his eyes and dropped his hands from Elain’s hips.
“Mor needed to know.” Azriel said, taking a step back from Elain. Elain found herself taking a step forward, as if being pulled from a string connecting them. She didn't even think about it, but Azriel noticed. His eyebrow raised and his grin shifted into something more mischievous.
He had been doing that a lot lately.
Smiling. Grinning. Smirking.
It warmed something deep within her, knowing that they were all directed towards her.
“Are you taking me to your super secret tattoo shop? Am I finally getting my heart?”
Azriel leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on her forehead.
“Not yet, babe.”
Elain felt her brows furrow.
“Soon?” Elain pouted, a pout which was quickly kissed away by Azriel.
“Very,” He said against her lips before pulling back. His dark curls falling over his forehead and Elain fought the urge to push them out of his eyes. And then she remembered she didn’t have to fight anymore. “And I don’t have a shop. I make house calls.”
Her fingers ran through his curls to push his hair back, but as soon as she pulled her hand away the curls fell back in exactly the same position.
“I love your hair.” Elain admitted.
“I love it when you touch my hair,” Azriel said in an even voice, but his tone turned darker and headier as he continued. “Especially when you really grip it.”
Her heart flopped to her stomach.
Elain’s fingers slipped through the belt loops on Azriel’s jeans, inadvertently pulling their bodies together.
“I was thinking,” Elain said softly, “And feel free to say no, but what if we went to the lake house with Feyre? Like, it’s probably stupid because it negates the entire conversation we had with them, but I was just thinking it might be nice to go because then we can be alone-alone. We can do that here, but there’s always going to be paparazzi and reporters and always looking over our shoulders. We aren’t public by any means, but if we go to the lakehouse, then we can do so much without fear of being seen. Paddle boarding, or we can take the boat out, maybe even go to those cute little shops. It’ll be like a romantic getaway for us. Feyre will be training most of the time, and-and—”
Elain found herself being cut off as Azriel’s lips pressed delicately and confidently onto hers.
“Yes.” Azriel replied.
“Yes?” Elain asked, clearing away her brain fog.
“I’ll go anywhere with you.”
Heat flushed through her body, and an uneven smile formed at her lips.
“You mean it?” Elain asked, peering up at him.
Azriel cocked his head to the side, his curls sliding over his brown forehead.
“There’s not a place on Earth you could go where I wouldn’t follow, Elain.” He said seriously, his eyes darkening with intensity.
“Because I’m your girlfriend?”’
“Because you’re you,” Azriel leaned his forehead against hers. “And for some reason you decided you wanted to be my girlfriend.”
Elain grinned broadly at his words.
Happiness lighting up inside of her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and said, “You’re my boyfriend.” Her fingers twisting the curls at the base of his neck.
Azriel opened his mouth to respond, but a knock sounded from the front door, and the two begrudgingly tore themselves apart.
Azriel opened the door and stepped away as Mor bounded inside.
“Good Morning,” Mor said brightly. “Who’s ready to—” her words cut off as she watched Elain wrap her arms around Azriel’s waist, and then her eyes followed the way Azriel leaned one strong arm over Elain’s shoulders. “Wha-at…”
“Oh, um, we’re together.” Elain said brightly, cheeks flushed.
“Boyfriend, Girlfriend!” Feyre piped up from the kitchen.
“And you’re alive?” Mor asked, looking at Azriel. “Rhys didn’t kill you?”
Elain felt Azriel tense in her arms.
“No,” Elain said firmly. “And everyone has promised to be supportive, and it would mean the world to me if you would support us as well, but if you don’t,” Elain took a deep breath, filling her lungs with air before slowly exhaling. “Then I’ll request a new bodyguard. I-I don’t want someone around us that won’t be there for us. Or someone that will be silently judging us.”
Mor blinked in surprise.
“Of course,” Mor said, a touch of hurt in her voice. “I want you to be happy. Both of you.” Her brown eyes bounced between the two of them.
Elain nodded her head once, and then twice for good measure.
“Good,” Elain looked up at Azriel. “Then I’m ready for our date.”
She leaned up to press her lips to Azriel’s. The kiss was broken by Elain’s smile — She felt her favorite bucket hat being placed on top of her head.
Azriel must have grabbed it from the hooks next to the door without her realizing it.
“I’ll make sure to tell Rhys about your new plans! For Rosehall!” Feyre called after them as they started to file out the open door.
“Thank you.” Elain said and waved goodbye to her sister, excited for what the day held in store for her. For what Azriel had planned.

How You Get The Girl
Chapter 21
AO3
Masterlist (Make sure you read the bonus scene!)
Warnings: None
The back, evidentially, was a fantastical little courtyard tucked between the old brick buildings of the city. Lights strung up on the walls, and leafy green plants surrounded the delicate bistro table.
“This was lovely,” Elain said, leaning back against the warm iron of her chair. “Thank you so much for preparing this for us.”
“It was no trouble, dear,” Paloma said, wiping her mouth with a cloth napkin. “I hoped the chicken wasn’t too dry?”
“No,” Elain said adamentally, shaking her head. “It was perfect, and that Marsala sauce was so creamy,” She leaned forward and placed her pale hand on Paloma’s soft brown one. “I’d love for you to teach me. Unless it’s a secret family recipe or something like that.”
Paloma grinned widely as her, white teeth flashing.
“I’d love that,” Paloma said and leaned forward, shooting her son a conspiratorial glance. “I’m sure if we both badger my son, then we can get him to visit without waiting on him for months,” She whispered loudly enough for everyone to hear. “And I’ll gladly teach my daughter-in-law all my secret family recipes.”
“Ma.” Azriel cut in from across the table, and Elain hoped everyone thought her flush was from the summer sun.
Paloma waved her son off and stood, grabbing some of the plates from the table. Azriel quickly followed suit, and when Elain and Mor tried to pick their dishes they were immediately shot down.
“You’re a guest,” Paloma insisted, expertly balancing too many dishes. “Sit and relax and we’ll bring our dessert.”
Elain opened her mouth to protest, but Azriel’s mother was already walking away.
Azriel saw her distressed face and leaned over to give her a peck on the lips before following after his mother.
“Paloma adores you,” Mor said, smiling as soon as the door swung shut. “She’s already writing you into the will.”
“Do you really think she likes me?” Elain asked, eyes wide and voice low as she leaned in close. “I was terribly under prepared for this. Azriel didn’t give me any warning.”
Mor leaned in as well, her brown eyes shimmering in amusement.
“Elain, you’re the perfect daughter-in-law,” Elain felt her brows pull together as the words, all of her insecurities bubbling up to the surface. “And I wanted to apologize,” Mor continued, her expression sobering up. “For how I reacted when I caught you guys, and then saying those things about Azriel. I didn’t — I didn’t realize you guys were serious. I thought it was just a fling. That you guys were fooling around.”
Elain felt her spine straighten as she pulled away.
“Apology accepted,” Elain said with a nod. “But really, you should be apologizing to Azriel, not me. And you should know better, neither Azriel or I would risk so much for a fling.”
Mor nodded her head, and the door opened again before she had a chance to respond.
“Azriel told me,” Paloma said, grinning ear to ear while holding an overflowing dish between her hands. Azriel stood behind her holding four mugs in one hand and a pot of coffee in the other. “That you had a weakness for tiramisu. Another family recipe.” She winked at Elain as she placed the dessert on the table.
“It’s my favorite,” Elain said, smiling softly at the gesture. “You’re two for two. Thank you so much for everything.”
Azriel leaned down close to her and Elain’s body hummed in response. She tilted her face to whisper, “You’re in trouble,” In his ear.
His eyes dropped to her lips before flitting back up to her eyes.
A slow smile stretched across his lips.
“Are you going to punish me?” Azriel raised his brow at her, smirking.
Elain sunk her teeth into her lips and nodded her head.
“I’ll sleep by myself tonight.” Elain said shakily.
Azriel pouted at her.
“That’s not fair,” Elain stated, forcing her gaze to stay locked with him. “It makes me want to kiss you.”
His grin split his face.
“You can’t kiss me?”
Elain’s eyes flew around to the table, Mor and Paloma politely ignoring them and engaging in conversation as Paloma served up the dessert.
“Not in front of your mom.” Elain whispered harshly, her face flaming.
Azriel leaned closer to her, so that his lips pressed against her ears as he said, “One day, you’ll grow so used to my kisses that you won’t think twice about them, no matter who is around.”
He pressed his lips to the shell of her ear before serving all of them coffee.
Elain shifted in her seat, forcing herself to smile as she joined the conversation.
— —
“I really can’t thank you enough,” Elain said, standing in front of the bakery’s door. Azriel and Mor on either side of her. “For such a delicious dinner. I hope you’ll let me return the favor.”
Paloma smiled so happily that her round cheeks obscured her eyes.
“I would love that,” Paloma said, pulling Elain into a warm hug. “You’re special to him,” She said lowly, so that only Elain could hear her. “I’ve never seen him so peaceful.”
They pulled away and Elain was certain her cheeks were bright red.
Elain took a step back, allowing Mor and Paloma to say their goodbyes, and she deliberately ignore Azriel’s attempt to lock eyes. She didn’t want him to see how affected she was from his mothers words.
“Goodbye, Ma,” Azriel said, leaning down to engulf his mother into his arms.
Elain and Mor took a step away, giving them as much privacy as possible. They whispered quietly to each other before breaking apart. Both of them grinning.
They waved as they left the store, and Elain found herself wanting to reach for Azriel’s hands as they walked on the uneven sidewalk.
Elain searched for words to say and came up short.
“I told her about our trip,” Azriel said from behind her, and Elain kept her gaze focused on Mor’s back as she walked confidently in front of them. “And that as soon as we get home we’ll invite her over, so that she can teach you how to make the Marsala.”
Elain grinned, and tried not to think about how excited she was.

cora’s bad time hell simulation steps or how to play “sprite station for girl” “harvest moon ds cute” the wrong way
(all ways are wrong this game is Accursed)
ok so here’s what my disorganized “guide” to myself for harvest moon ds for girl (aka indecipherable notes i wrote to myself as i played and revised as i tested various things and restarted due to mistakes) looks like. at some point when i become a real gamer i will write a legible guide meant for eyes to look at but uhhh this is how i play this accursed game personally
i’m not sure if anything i wrote will make any sense since i wrote it as notes to myself so probably definitely use fogu and fc2 jonason wiki (may not work but some pages should be archived) instead
ALSO if you’ve never played or barely played the game it won’t make sense at all! hmds was my first harvest moon so i am used to various horrors!
my play style is probably not fun in general HOWEVER if you are a grinding hell goblin like me then it’s GREAT!!!! if not you may still find it amusing that the game gives you permission to play like this
(it’s a great background task game while doing like productive stuff but otherwise playing this way would probably be unbearable)
(image limit)
anyway after that the days go a lot faster, you’ll get the island on summer 1, so on spring 30 i put all my money into million G tickets and sell 200 of em, do the 5x money thing, and save the rest. so when thomas comes the next day to sell you the 900 million G island you can just sell 180 tickets and do the 5x money thing again with like ~600 million G tickets left over. it takes up inventory but you’ll get the shelf in a few days. basically you just need to remember to order from the TV shopping every saturday and place orders with gotz and gray whenever they finish stuff.
random tips
after unlocking the fuckass hot spring sprites (the ones that require you to spend a total of 700 1 hour sessions in the hot springs) i usually grind grazing points— if you put your animals outside for 5 hours you get a “Love Point”, but if you interact with them after they earn that LP then the timer switches over and you can get another LP after 5 more hours. if you wear the time ring the whole time it’s 2.5 hours. i’m not very good at explaining this but basically if you’re super efficient you can get way more animal LP than you realistically should, which is great because the touch glove petting minigame is Bad!!!!
i usually wait on getting the rest of the purple sprites (the ones that require you to hire the purple team and ask for healing) until i’m totally done with the indigo team, cuz i wanna get HG’s purple heart event asap, but you can switch the order if you want
by summer y1 you’ll basically have a feel for everything. aside from Skye, Leia, HG and WP everyone can be married early-mid autumn if you want
if you want to Gay (in the japanese version only) keira is the quickest to marry. leia is the quickest to max affection but it’s impossible to get leia year 1 because the bottle you need to fish up can only be caught in spring. you have to wait until at least year 5 for WP and iirc year 6 for HG.
