Notes to my readers:  I can’t believe I finished the 4th VOS fic before the 3rd one.  I’m considering reordering them, but...the 3rd one starts slightly before the 2nd one ends! Anyhow, this is your gentle reminder that Designs and Persuasions and Every Day Is A Winding Road are two halves of a story arc. There are only 2, maybe even 1, chapters left in Winding Road.

The story that follows both Every Day is a Winding Road and Designs and Persuasions will be called Recovered Light.

Soundwave and Ravage look wistfully at their sparks, and then at each other. They don't know what this world will become, and they are worried about Rung, and they would be more than happy to give these sparks life in their own world--but they probably couldn't, even if they could take them home. The laws of generation here are different.

"Remember we love you, even if you never see us again," Ravage says, with shining, loving-sad optics.

"Take care of yourselves...and each other," Soundwave says; they bury them together.

Howlback's words to hers are quiet: "Remember, you have what it takes inside of you to do whatever you need to do."

Grimlock says: "Grow up strong and be happy."

Series 4 prediction: Moriarty is alive and spends the whole three episodes chasing Sherlock around with a blowtorch trying to literally burn his heart out but surprise, Sherlock already gave his heart to a fire demon before the series began and it had been living as Mrs. Hudson this whole time (which is the real reason she can't leave Baker Street). Moriarty is so pissed that he shoots himself in the head again but for real this time and Mrs. Hudson gives Sherlock his heart back so he and John can kiss and she turns into a shooting star and lives happily ever after zooming through space. Also the baby is fake and Mary was dead the whole time.

Sophiejohn trying to clean Howllock's room once. He finds some embarrasing items, and once he backs out, he stumbles into Howllock.

Howl!lock stammering that they totally aren't his and he doesnt know why theyre in there and Sophiejohn asking which things with a big smile and Howllock freezing up and yelling to just stay out of his room and storming away and slamming the door behind him.

(I’m sorry Cos.wave fans, but even before Ravage died in IDW canon to make me grouchy about it, the first thing I noticed about Cosmos and Soundwave was that Cosmos was constantly questioning Soundwave’s motives.)

We are getting close to the end of this third split arc. There were supposed to be 30 chapters in each of the arcs but I think there might be 31. People keep having conversations that they shouldn’t be having in the middle of an interstellar crisis, and since the bullets aren’t actively flying, I have to keep letting them.

Calcifercroft and Howllock bickering for hours over magical techniques.

Calcifercroft pretending that Howllock is just a giant child and annoys him but when Howllock comes in hurt one day he flares up really big and starts asking what happened and the castle starts freaking out.

Howllock taking Sophiejohn for the occasional nighttime flight after the war to see him grin like the first time they flew.

Howllock petulantly saying he isnt ever hungry and Sophiejohn giving him an earful until he sits down and nibbles at some toast and glaring daggers at Calcifercroft who is snickering away until Sophiejohn threatens to not replace his log and he shuts up and Howllock hides this massive grin
