I don't actually know exactly how frequent, rampant and intensive the inbreeding in my family line has been, exactly, nor how many of my problems can I really blame on that in good faith, but there is one thing I can definitely say: My face is unsymmetrical. The two halves don't match. If you've ever read the book The Children of Men, and you're thinking 'oh, like that one character in it', then yes, just like that. It's not obvious enough that anyone would consciously notice it. There's just something off about my face that people can't exactly put their finger on. My partner had been with me for five years before he observed that one of my eyes is higher up than the other.

But where it is more obvious is in photographs.

This one time when I was like 15, I was experimenting with art and how I want to look, and I took a selfie with my old phone camera and traced over it on GIMP, colouring it in. I showed the final result to an online friend (back in the day kids were told to Never Post Pictures Of Themselves On The Internet), who said that the picture is pretty cool, but the perspective is off. Not wanting to blow my cover immediately, I asked him what he meant. He said that the perspective of the face is wrong, the face looks unnatural. The eyes and the nose don't angle right.

I double-checked the original selfie and compared it to the traced artwork, and saw that I had done everything exactly as close as I could, and kept arguing that no, it's not off, while he insisted that yes, yes it is, and step by step I gave more ground by admitting that it's not just referenced from a photo, but downright traced from one. That's traced from a photograph. The face can't be off, that's literally my fucking face. He wasn't buying it, no fucking way, no way I got that right. So as a last resort, I broke The First Law Of The Internet and sent this person I didn't know irl a picture of my own face. His reply was quick and simple.

It's peak fiction, sure the pacing is a bit off and the finale was a bit rushed imo (blame Amazon and A24 for that). But despite some flaws, I do think that this show is good; as in like:

And since Season 2 is in the works rn, that'll allow them to flesh out some moments from Season 1 as like 'BackFlashes', see more of Sir Repentious and Emily, Alastor's and Lilith's interactions, and possibly Sinner!Adam. I SOOOOOO EXCITED AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

The work task I have right now is infuriatingly mind numbing... Thus, for my lunch break, I went rogue at work, installed gimp, and photo-edited some random American Heist screenshots in order to more vividly imagine what Anakin's face is about to look like in 5PE. 😍

Also, FYI, you should thank me because I searched all of pinterest yesterday and found no photo edits of this scene. None. 🙄 Like sheesh, y'all, is the concept of whump entirely foreign to Pinterest peeps? Do I really gotta do everything myself around here? JFC. 😆

I've been seeing a lot of simblr aethestic X authenticity posts today and find the whole discussion super interesting, as it goes into topics such as art/storytelling, commodification, and consumerism.

I haven't seen it discussed enough, but the way Tumblr handles notes is also hugely to blame in this whole popularity vs authenticity thing.

I was surprised to find out that on Tumblr "notes"/likes are considered kind of worthless as far as boosting a post's visibility. Apparently they do nothing to promote posts. Presumably, any poster's aim should be to get those coveted reblogs. According to this model the onus of a simblr's survivability is on whether or not people find your content not only enjoyable, which they may reward with a perfectly awesome note, but worthy of taking up space on their own simblrs: that's where I think some really interesting thinking is happening as people ponder what they deem deserving of a reblog.

I haven't had my simblr all that long, but I'm already seeing so many of my mutuals--many of whom were new to the platform as well--either quit or express frustration over all the time they put into their creations only to be met with silence. I find this platform very unforgiving to folks who are starting out, who just want to share their content and don't use Reshade/GShade or Photoshop/Gimp, etc. I find that people often feel the need to be choosy with reblogs because catching people's attention has to be such a calculated maneuver in order to become recognizable and unique (brandiiing!) or to maintain a balance between supporting friends and promoting their own content. Not wanting to engage in that hustle may mean settling for a smaller (but perhaps more constant) circle of people that interacts with their content (even if that might be more satisfying and pleasant on a personal level).

But here's the rub--it shouldn't matter. However folks choose to engage (or not) with content, create (or not!) a pixelated empire on social media, or simply have their stuff acknowledged and encouraged, much of the angst could be resolved if the Tumblr algorithm would boost a post's visibility based on notes AS WELL as reblogs. I think a lot more folks would be more generous with notes- it's really only just a simple click- as opposed to agonizing as to whether or not someone else's content fits on your page or other reasons crossing people's minds.

(Just my thoughts on one angle of a more complex discussion--feel free to add yours; just don't be an asshat about it).

1. What’s your favorite sims death? I don’t think I have one? But I definitely have a memorable one which is death by flies, simply because in TS2 times I was using it all the time for sims I didn’t like 😶

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis match all the way, baby! (I’m still simping over some alpha hairstyles though)

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Nope. I do have a mod though that makes the weight system more realistic and it’s called Fitness Controls by roBurky.

5. Favorite mod? Um.. this a tough one. Excluding the holy grails, I think I’ll go with Walk Faster by lotharihoe. It literally never gets out of my mods folder.

IT'S LEGIT BEEN FIVE YEARS HASN'T IT HAHAHAHAHAHA

So a lot of stuff has happened since I left - in short order:

~DeviantArt went to shit and got a confusing new look which I didn't gel with, so I left. Afterwards, I pretty much exclusively used Twitter...up until you-know-what happened just recently. So now I'm back here!

~I ended up getting a new drawing tablet and have pretty much quit using pencils and paper entirely. I used GIMP for the first year or so that I had the tablet, but now I've got Krita, and it's SO much easier to work with! Highly recommended!

~I realized I may be trans??? Blame Snapchat. XD

And, uh, WOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED. I have no idea where anything is at the moment; please bear with me as I sort things out XD

In the meantime, I hope anyone who still remembers me on here is looking forward to me being active again sometime in the future! (Near future, probably, if Elon Muskrat tanks Twitter enough LOL)

this was supposed to be like oooooh send in a number and i'll answer it but i don't feel like waiting i wanted to answer these all NOW whether you want answers or NOT 1. Art programs you have but don’t use i've installed firealpaca, medibang, drawpile, i think i have a crack of paint tool sai still, know i have a crack of csp lying around. truth be told the last time i used a digital art program that wasn't gimp was 2 years ago where i drew like 3 things in drawpile. 2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even) full front and 3/4 either direction are equally easy. it's profiles that are difficult. 3. What ideas come from when you were little a lot of my ocs come from when i was 13-ish. from when i was a little kid tho not much carries over except a theme of things being genetically engineered in some way. 4. Fav character/subject that’s a bitch to draw folliage/nature. i need to take a lot of references to make plants and foresty sorta landscapes look passable. 5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself i think i post nearly everything that's complete, and i complete nearly everything. anything that isn't posted is part of a larger whole and eventually will get posted. so probably like over 95% of what i do is posted online. 6. It's been like this since october last year... you already know all my accounts, you scan my computer every now and then, my files are synched to one drive, you practically know my routine already, you know the usual sites I go to, you listen to my microphones, you keep tabs on my computer and my phone. Maybe you're even looking at my computer screen every time I turn it on. Yet why do I see angry posts that blame me for something that I'm clueless about? Why do I see "F*ck you" or nobody cares? I honestly don't know why I'd have to go through this hell wherein I don't even know what people are blaming me for... Why am I constantly being bombarded by words that say "Liar liar liar" or Narcissist or gaslighter when I don't even know what's going on... I already said sorry for looking, I took responsibility for fapello so that I can continue sending messages to Yeet and now Yeet left me... I lost someone that I never wanted to lose... You already saw my photoshop skills... I don't even know how to save into jpeg... I tried fighting my fear of using gimp becuase if I don't, I'll always be afraid of using it... I don't use adobe photoshop because I don't want to pay, so I use gimp... I just feel numb, paranoid, clueless, afraid, and I feel that I'm slowly going back to what happened to me before... You asked why I hold my breath, I try to do breathing exercises when I'm anxious, and I'm anxious a lot... I'm anxious about a lot of things, knowing that I have paranoid schizophrenia and I'm afraid of interactions or looking at other people's eyes... I notice that I started my paranoid walks again because I don't even know if I'll be able to sleep tonight... Sometimes I ask God why would he torment me like this... I just looked around fapello and thotslife, saved photos, and all hell broke loose... I stopped downloading porn already, I stopped going to fapello and thotslife, but I have to control my hornyness... Imagine being berated every now and then and you don't know the reason why, being told a Liar, a narcissist and tells me that I'm a gaslighter... I don't even know what's happening anymore...

Joy Me a River

So a little interesting story behind this pic; this literally came to me in a dream I had a few nights ago (along with the title too) and it’s been sticking with me for awhile since. I’ve just felt this urge to draw it, so here it is.

I also vaguely remember a story attached to it too. The way it goes as far as I recall is that Joy has been keeping some kind of dark secret from the other emotions, a secret that would have a serious impact on her relationship with the others if they were to ever find out. Eventually, they find out about her secret and now mortified of her actions, they shun her for hiding it for them. And soon, this is where she ends up now…devastated from her own followers pushing her away as well as her own self-blame. So she ends up crying large amounts of tears into her boat to that point that she has to scoop them out pail by pail.

MaxIm DL

This week, I began a new journey of learning another photo editing software: the daunting MaxIm DL. MaxIm DL is used similarly to GIMP for editing pictures of space, but it differs in its approach, employing multiple layered images to create edited space pictures. The process begins with taking pictures using Red, Green, and Blue filters. These images often contain imperfections such as noise and dust particles. This is where dark calibration comes to the rescue.

Next, you set a light range for the flats and select the best images within that range. Then, attempt to find the median point of all the images to minimize disturbances and imperfections, which helps eliminate noise. The purpose of flat images is to correct for variations in light across the images. You might wonder why we use the median. The median image is chosen to remove outliers of noise from certain images within the range.

Now, my overall opinion on the software is a bit clouded. At this point, I would call myself a novice, and I feel it's evident. The software is not user-friendly, especially for beginners. Another issue with MaxIm DL is its cost. Since this is a new area of interest for me, the price is steep. Consequently, I'm forced to use an old PC at school with limited disk space for editing my photos. Only time will tell if my opinion changes as I gain experience.

Future me here, I have gained much more experience from the day this was written. The only real flaw I still have is just how not user-friendly the program is. I could blame it on the PC, or maybe my inability to use the PC/software. Either way, I found my experience not user-friendly.
