venti

In terms of body temperature, Venti is usually neither too cold nor too warm. That being said-- if he is colder than usual, he will absolutely put his cold feet on you. He is a menace.

He is so darn cute, so I can't imagine him sleeping without snuggling something-- a pillow, Dvalin's tail, a plushie, etc.

(For your consideration... Venti snuggled up in a pile of little wind sprites... thank you).

And-- as long as you are comfortable with it-- he would be delighted to snuggle up to you, too!

I feel like he would be open to physical affection pretty soon after meeting you. He just strikes me as an affectionate guy, including platonically.

The first time you shared a bed, he clung to you as soon as you settled in.

He likes to wrap his arms around your waist and nuzzle his head into the crook of your neck. It tickles a little, but it's nice-- he feels secure, and you have your very own personal weighted blanket.

In general, I think Venti would prefer to face you when cuddling, instead of spooning. He gets to look into your eyes, with the added benefit of forehead kisses (both giving and receiving!!!)

I also think he would move around in his sleep-- but not necessarily enough to wake you. You would wake up in the morning to find him sprawled horizontally across you, making it difficult to get out of bed.

albedo

I'm so sorry, but Albedo is cold. It's not a dealbreaker, but I don't think he ever gets warm. At best, his body temperature is just... neutral.

The good news: hot, muggy summer nights with him are WONDERFUL. This also includes traveling in humid climates (like the rainforests of Sumeru). Because he does not really get warm, he is the perfect cuddle buddy for staying cool!

The bad news: there is no... "cuddling for warmth" fanfic trope on Dragonspine. That being said!-- he is well-prepared with heavy duty blankets and sleeping bags. Combine that with some marshmallows and a campfire, and every night on Dragonspine is cozy and warm.

Because he doesn't get warm himself, Albedo doesn't mind if you're warmer. He still can detect heat/cold, so if you're shivering, he'll catch on immediately and fetch another blanket.

I don't think Albedo is used to physical affection, but he still likes to receive it. Though he doesn't go out of his way to initiate, he gets a fuzzy feeling in his chest when you snuggle up to him at night.

Albedo doesn't mind being either the big or little spoon. I also think he would enjoy having you lay your head on his chest. It lets him have a physical reminder of your presence.

If you have hair/if it's long enough, he'll definitely comb his hands through your hair. He also likes to braid sections of it-- it helps him unwind from another long day of research.

kazuha

After describing Venti in a pile of wind sprites... I also had the thought of a sleepy Kazuha in a pile of (equally sleepy) kittens.

Kazuha might be cooler than average in terms of body temperature, but he's otherwise pretty average. He still will keep you warm if it's chilly out, and you won't be overheating in the summer.

I do think that he prefers to not feel too weighed down-- instead of weighted blankets, he prefers layered sheets or fluffy comforters.

He is still a sucker for physical affection, but he is a lot better at hiding it. He won't get very close unless you've asked him to cuddle with you.

If you do muster up the courage to ask him to cuddle-- you will end up creating a monster. Every night, unless you request otherwise, you'll have a very sleepy, very snuggly Kazuha pressed up against you. He'll sometimes prop a leg up and over your hip, just to make sure you aren't going anywhere.

Bonus points if you smell like shampoo/body wash before you go to bed. For the wandering samurai, that particular scent is what grounds him. After all, no matter where he roams, you are his home.

No matter how the two of you are cuddling, Kazuha likes being able to face you. Both before he falls asleep, as well as when he wakes up in the morning, he likes to have a visual reminder that you are still there. Despite his trust in his own senses, he starts to doubt himself when it gets to be too late. Being able to both hold and see you helps.

heizou

Heizou runs at a pretty average body temperature as well. He might be a little warm, but nothing that would be alarming. And if it's too hot out to be cuddling... uh, good luck trying to keep him away from you.

Heizou is both a blanket thief and a (somewhat) restless sleeper. He does the thing where he ends up cocooned in the blankets in the morning, so he has to scramble out of them every time.

If you are sharing a bed, please just get a weighted blanket. This can prevent him from accidentally kicking you in the stomach as he tries to free himself from the blanket burrito.

Alternatively, I suppose you could lie on top of him, and this would accomplish the same thing. But with the added bonus of being able to wake him up with a forehead kiss.

Heizou will be pretty clingy once you've become close enough friends. When you're still getting to know each other, he observes your behavior to deduce whether you'd be open to more physical affection. Once he feels confident enough, he'll start to be more affectionate with you.

Heizou will probably want to lie on top of you, or at the very least, he will use you as a pillow. It's very cute, but it will not prevent him from moving around while he sleeps. At this point, your best bet is to pull him closer and play with his hair. This relaxes him so much that he falls asleep faster, and he tends to wake up less in the night, too.

If he wakes up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep-- he will probably leave the bed to get water or a snack. If he stays up for too long, though, it starts to mess with his sleep schedule. So if you see him try to finish a report or re-read one of his ongoing cases, please drag him back to bed. He'll get back to sleep much faster if you're there to hold him and quiet down his thoughts.

cyno

Cyno is slightly cooler than average, because he is somehow able to get away with having his hair down while traversing the desert. If he were any warmer, he would absolutely have to put his hair back.

I do say "slightly" cooler, though, because he still has to wear light clothing in the hot desert. He's not completely unhinged.

I feel like Cyno would try to just "tough out" cold nights in the desert, with maybe one lightweight blanket or a compact sleeping bag. He insists he is fine without any additional warmth, but if you convince him to join you, he finds himself melting into your arms.

It takes a lot of trust to be able to cuddle with him. Cyno can get somewhat jaded after years of hunting down criminals and enacting justice. You need to show him-- through your actions, not your words-- that you are not hiding some malicious intent or an ulterior motive.

Once he does trust you, though, Cyno learns that cuddling with you is... really, really nice. Having nobody but himself to rely on is exhausting. It's nice to have somebody to comfort you at the end of a long, tiring day.

Cyno likes being able to hold you. He wants to feel like he can protect you, even if the two of you are asleep. He's especially fond of resting his head on top of yours, letting you bury your head into his neck/collarbone. Being held like this, you swear that you've never felt more secure in your life.

Cyno is also fond of pillow talk, but you'll probably have to coax it out of him. Cyno tends to travel alone, which means he rarely has somebody to talk to. He is happy to talk to you about anything, but he would be elated if you let him test out a joke or two.

each and every time you get to see him, you feel as though you fall in love all over again. his beauty simply cannot be compared.

"i'm really happy to see you!" you admit to him. "i want to tell you all about my day, it was amazing." you're overjoyed, and freminet couldn't help but smile at you, he could nearly see you glowing with positivity. in the back of his mind, he thought..

“what was the dog’s name?” he inquired, and began to rustle his fingers through your hair. you swore that it can make you fall asleep each and every time he does it, and it’s always the most soothing thing in the world.

“his name was bubba.” you lean in, loving the feeling of a nice head massage. “bubba! oh my goodness, isn’t that the perfect name?”

you continue to go on, ranting about the best parts of your entire day, and he nodded as you spoke, sorting out any tangles in your hair, asking about certain pieces of information from time to time.

he would make little braids in your hair and then take them out again as he concentrated on your stories. freminet was quite a good hairstylist, and that sometimes made you ask him how he got to be so good, but he never gave you a direct answer.

“oh! and then i saw an old friend right before i got dinner. i was so surprised that they traveled-" you pause with a big yawn.

"traveled all the way here. i was so happy to get the chance to catch up with them, but they seemed to be in a hurry.” you noted.

“well, do you know how long they’ll be staying?” he combed his fingers through your ends.

“thankfully, it seems they have some business to do here, so i’ll most likely see them around! ah man, that’ll be great.” you murmur sleepily, trying to adjust your head to get comfortable.

“i’m happy that’s the case. it can be a relief to see a familiar face.” he noticed that you were getting more tired by the minute.

"mhm.." you lifted your head, and placed it into freminet's lap. you didn’t have much more to say, so you just wanted to be close to him.

"y/n.." blinking in surprise, he still didn't feel completely used to the affection you showed him, and often felt bad if he were to specifically ask.

but he absolutely loved every single bit of it. it was new. but such a magnificent feeling. everytime you gave him your lovely compassion, he felt as if he were imagining a faraway dream. the amount of trust you shared with him.. nobody has ever gotten remotely close to it, except for lyney and lynette, but even then, this was entirely different.

you eventually doze off, your breathing growing slower. he froze in place, as if the slightest of movement would disturb your peace.

he noticed your hair got out of place again, falling across your face, and so he slowly reached one hand down towards you, gently moving your strands behind your ear. he then adjusted the other side, making sure that you would sleep without a bother.

seeing you like this almost made his eyes want to tear up.

everything about you was precious to him. he caressed your crown, creating a gentle motion with his thumb, and the room was completely quiet to him in that moment of time, except for your light breathing and freminet's beating heart.

"i love you, y/n." he softly whispered, and finally rested an arm on your back and closed his eyes.

The Lemon Legacy: Generation 1, Chapter 116 - A Horse Girl Awakening

The Lemon girls have big plans today!

Ophelia: Are you excited to go to the petting zoo with Jaden, Gem?

Gemma: Yeah!

Xander: I'm excited I have to work and don't have to talk to Jaden's mom!

Ophelia: Stop.

I mean, valid, but he shouldn't say it in front of Gemma.

After breakfast, Ophelia gets down on Gemma's level to have a little chat with her.

Ophelia: I know you've been talking about horses a lot lately…

Gemma: We're gonna see a horsey?

Ophelia: Yes, I called the owner and he does have a horse on the lot. Buuuut…

Gemma: I get to ride the horsey?

Ophelia: I'm afraid not. You're not tall enough yet.

Gemma: I get to pet the horsey?

That's what they need to talk about.

Ophelia: The horse's owner said that he's skittish and doesn't like strangers touching him. We'll just have to look.

Ophelia: You'll still get to see a real-life horse, though! And there's lots of sheep and goats and a llama! You can pet those all you want.

Gemma: Bu-But Mommy! I wanna pet the horsey!

Ophelia: I know, muffin, but it's not safe for a little girl to be near a skittish horse.

She's usually so sweet, so it's a bit of a shock when Gemma suddenly snaps.

Gemma: NO! I wanna pet the horsey!

Ophelia: Gemmy, I know you're upset-

Gemma: Mommy's MEAN! I WANNA PET THE HORSEY!

Ophelia reminds herself that Gemma is a toddler and is still learning how to process her emotions before she takes it personally.

Ophelia: I know you're disappointed, Gemma, but we don't yell when we don't get our way. I'm not trying to be mean, but you'll have to wait, okay?

Gemma's anger sizzles out and is replaced with sadness.

Gemma: Ho-Horseeeeyyyy….

Ophelia hates seeing her little girl so upset, but it's her job to protect her, even if Gemma doesn't like it.

Ophelia: I know, baby, it's not fun waiting until you're bigger to do something you want to do, huh?

Gemma continues to sob but she nods.

Ophelia: This horsey gets scared easily. Sometimes when horses get scared, they accidentally hurt people. We don't want to get hurt, right?

Gemma: N-No…

She clumsily wipes her tears away.

Ophelia: We can still go make friends with the horsey. You need to stick close to Mommy though, okay? We just can't touch. I promise you, we'll make sure you ride a horse when you're big enough. You'll just have to be patient.

Gemma: Pay-tent?

Ophelia: Patient. It means you have to wait, but it'll be so much better when you do.

Gemma: O-Okay, Mommy.

Ophelia can't help but feel relieved she prevented a full-blown tantrum. She's also glad this didn't happen in front of Jaden's judgmental mother.

Ophelia: I know that doesn't make you feel less sad, but would a hug help?

Gemma nods.

Ophelia gathers her daughter up in a hug, hoping the comforting touch will lighten her mood. It seems to work!

At least Gemma gets to play with her friend and see a real-life horsey!

They all arrive at the petting zoo, and Ophelia gets Lulu in the back carrier while Gemma and Jaden babble at each other.

Gemma: Hi, Jay-Jay! We're gonna see a horsey!

Jaden: Wooooow. I wanna see a dolphin but Mommy says they prob'ly don't have one.

Anna approaches the two kids.

Anna: Why hello there, Gemma. You look very pretty in your dress.

Gemma: Thank youuuu!

Why did Daddy not want to hang out with Jaden's mommy? She seems nice!

First stop, the llama! Gemma pets her thick wool and admires how fluffy she is.

Tina the llama wonders if Gemma has any hay for her.

Jaden is a little scared of how big the llama is. This bunny is more his speed.

Jaden: H-Hi, bun-bun.

He pats the bunny, who seems to appreciate how gentle he's being.

The group makes their way back to where the goats and sheep are… which just also happens to be where Coconut the horse wandered over to.

Gemma: Lookit the horsey!

Jaden: I wanna pet the goaties and sheepies!

And so he does. This little guy is having the time of his life!

Gemma stays close to her momma, just like she told her to, because truth be told, she didn't realize how BIG horses are in real life. It's a little scary, but she still thinks he's so beautiful!

She watches him trot off, and she imagines what it'd be like riding him.

Gemma: Pretty horsey!

Anna: Why yes, all of the Watcher's creations are amazing, aren't they?

This lady talks about the Watcher a lot, whoever that is.

Anna: Are you having fun, honey?

Jaden: Yeah! Thank you Momma!

Anna: You're so welcome, my sweet boy.

Jaden likes spending time with his mommy when Daddy's not around. She's a lot more affectionate when he's not there.

She might not be able to ride it, but Gemma likes the mini sheep too. So fluffy!

Anna has to take a phone call. Jaden watches her walk off and decides to talk to Gemma's mommy, who took Lulu out of her carrier.

Jaden: Baby?

Ophelia: Yeah, this is Gemma's baby sister.

Jaden: Can I play with her?

Ophelia: Sure! Let me put her down someplace safe.

Anna, meanwhile, reassures her husband.

Anna: Calvin, dear, you don't need my approval. You're my husband, I fully submit to your will and I know you're doing what is right by the Watcher. Do it.

Jaden tells Lulu a silly story. She seems entertained, at least. Or maybe she just likes his fun red hair.

Jaden would love to have a baby sibling of his own. Seems like his mommy would too, she's always talking about it, but it keeps not happening.

Coconut runs around outside the gate and the kids watch him in admiration.

Jaden: Are you really gonna ride a horsey when you're big?

Gemma: Yeah!

Jaden: Whoa.

Lulu pulls out her toy and ignores the big kids and the horse. Unbothered queen.

Jaden: I like your baby sister.

Gemma: I like her too! We can share.

Quit talking about Lulu like she's a toy, Gem! Lulu doesn't seem too bothered, at least.

Gemma: I can be your sister too!

Jaden: Really?

Gemma: Yeah! And you can be MY sister!

Jaden: Wow! Thanks!

Someone needs to teach them what a "brother" is, I guess.

Jaden looks so happy! He's had a hard time making friends at church, it's so great to have a friend his own age - a sister!

- she makes sure to alternate between 'he' and 'they' and 'spouse' and 'husband' when referring to me instead of just choosing one because I said I liked that better (my wife is cis and the best fucking ally I know)

- she gets so genuinely excited about my transition! She tells me she loves my voice, my body hair and my weird ass mustache

- when I got my documents legally changed she was so happy for me she congratulated me 3 times. We weren't even together back then, this was just pure joy for a fellow queer

- she makes tons of gay jokes and trans puns

- she always makes sure to use inclusive language like "people with vulvas" when discussing anatomy

- she squeals and gets excited as fuck when she sees good queer rep

- she gushes over my ships with me

- she encourages me when I want to wear dresses or put on makeup because she loves gender fuckery in all its forms

- speaking of gender fuckery, she calls me her pretty princess because I wanted to be a princess when I was little and I like the vibes even though it's technically a feminine term (she made sure I was okay with it like a thousand times before doing that)

I'm really glad you said that the opinion doesn't actually have to be unpopular because I have no idea what's considered a popular opinion or not (☛ ´∀｀*)☛ I know I'm always writing on here but I genuinely know nothing about anything on tumblr outside of the circle that I'm in, and I don't really take part of fandom except at cons. So I'll just list a few things I guess and we'll go from there ━

I don't like the idea of characters "deserving each other". I think what matters most is that the feelings are mutual and not one-sided. Not only that but sometimes people use this as a way to justify horrible things happening to said ship or between them? I dont know I'm just not a fan of the connotation.

Shipping real people feels ... icky to me, and like an invasion of privacy. I know a lot of idol/ k-pop companies push it, though. I'm not talking about "oh they look so cute!" I mean like ... 20+ minute analysis videos. If someone made one about me I'd be horrified so ━ I can't really support it being done to somebody else, even if it is innocent at heart, the feeling behind it is just ... not good.

I genuinely can't stand it when a ship that's going to inevitably be complicated and rather fucked up gets turned into a purely fluffy relationship. Granted I enjoy fluff as much as the next person, and anyone can show tenderness towards those they love, but my goodness please let the characters continue to be messed up.

Thaaat being said I can’t see any enjoyment in watching or reading two characters mercilessly abuse one another in a nonconsensual or purely hateful way. Play fighting, both being equally weird and mirroring eachother or general bickering doesn't count - obvs - but if a ship becomes abusive I'll step back from it. I know I know! But Egg you JUST said "keep the relationship and characters fucked up"! Yes! I did, and that doesn't mean that that messed up relationship is abusive or horrible for those characters specifically because its something they both enjoy/willingly take part in. Continuing about this because this is for my own tastes: Its okay to enjoy darker ships and toxic ships! This doesn't mean the person who is enjoying the content believes abuse is alright.

I find that stories that only revolve around romance tend to be extremely dull to me a lot of the time. There should be an idea of where the story is going without romance included, and if the ship comes along then it does. I think those are the ships that tend to feel the most natural since the characters interact without a specific romantic end goal in mind, which makes it all the more sweet when they do come to recognize their feelings as its come from them and not the destined plot ━ I just like it that way though and people can like whatever, y'know?

Possessiveness in ships is like ... very hit or miss for me in how it's portrayed. There's certain instances where its fun but others where it makes me wanna die. Mutual possessiveness/obsession though? Ohooho that is fun to play with, so long as it doesn't become abusive or unbalanced/unwanted by one of the parties. Man - tsk - idk anymore I feel like my opinion is so all over the place but like this all spins back to the toxic abusive relationships being a no no for me like as long as the insanity is consensual between two adults that both like it ? Yeah - that's fine. Does that make sense? I could probably go into stuff about Vladibin with this ( me and borb were talkin about it ) but I won't because I will go on forever and this is already WAYYY longer than I originally intended.

As for unfollowing it's ... whatever to me? There's obviously mutuals that if I lost I'd be really confused/wondering what happened + sad about it but I would still keep my distance; but for the most part I'm unaffected by it ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ I used to care a lot but I grew out of that within like ... 4 months. I know people grow out of their likes and what they want to view, or that they assumed my blog was something else and upon it not being what they wanted, unfollowed - which again, is valid! I don't know I just don't think unfollowing is anything personal ( like, 95% of the time ofc there's always the small percentage that is ). Don't harass people who block you or try to get around the block, things we've heard a thousand times. ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭ ̀ˋ I think though, that if you have been mutuals/friends with someone for a while and plan to unfollow - I think it would be most polite to message said friend to briefly explain why; especially since so many of us have anxiety sometimes it seems like an unfollow means the other party hates the other. For those wondering, His Royal Cuteness together with Prince Alexander have been cast by me as Charlie (yes I know they look very different, never said my casting was gonna be logical), Prince Gabriel as Alex (let's pretend Alex was blonde the first couple of years) & now when we have better photos of Prince Julian, I have an excuse to picture him as Will. Haven't decided on anyone for Eddie, Miles, Mary & Vivi yet, suggestions are welcome! But, I nominate Princess Adrienne as Lottie.

Jacques and Gabriella of Monaco are definitely giving cheeky Prince Gregory and Princess Hyacinth vibes, though I could also imagine Princess Charlotte and Prince William having the sassy little troublemakers look about them. In the Royals AU they were born hours apart in the same hospital with their fathers running out into the corridor of opposite rooms to high-five each other when they were welcomed into the world. It would have been the only time Sophie had presented one of her newborns to the world, knowing there would be no chance of sneaking out of the hospital with the media camped outside waiting to be introduced to the new Princess Royal. She had found the prospect of the media interest invasive and had opted not to parade Charlie and Alex around hours after giving birth to them as a result, but seeing as William was her third baby and she didn't feel as overwhelmed as she had done as a brand new mother, she reckoned she could handle showing one of her babies to the world just this once. Then when Kate hopped into the hospital bed with her as they snuggled their newborns, she asked if Sophie would like to appear on the steps of the hospital with her and show their babies off together, and realising she wouldn't have to do it alone made Sophie agree to the offer instantly. She even had a bit of fun as Kate's glam squad dressed and made her up side by side with the queen while their royal husbands doted on their infants, before they treated the public to the four of them appearing on the steps of the hospital to introduce the newest little prince and princess of the family.

I could definitely see Newton ending up as the main star of the royal family's Instagram account. He's included in photos for Kate and Anthony's engagement, their wedding, pregnancy announcements, first baby pics, and of course their official Christmas cards. When they meet members of the public Kate and Anthony are always asked about Newton and the general demand of more Newton leads the royal family Insta stories to be filled with the corgi's day to day activities and general fluffy cuteness. (There's even a joke petition to make Newton the national animal of the country or for him to at least be knighted for his adorable services to the nation.)

Prince Charles of Luxembourg is the cutest!!! I can for sure see him as baby Charlie and while Benedict is thrilled that his hair initially appears blonde like his mother, Sophie is sure his locks will darken to the chestnut that the rest of the Bridgertons possess and much to Benedict's chagrin she's right. I can also totally see (your logic of) Prince Alexander as a bigger version of Charlie, with Charlie not wanting his hair cut so he can look just like his father (I'm envisioning Benedict growing his hair out for a time after Sophie one day mused that she fancied him when he was younger with his teenage floppy hair, and being the simp that he is he wanted to make his wife's teenage dreams come true).

I have! Overall I thought it was pretty cute? It was a fluffy filler event like Windblume that was more about community than Plot or Lore, and it did a pretty good job of that.

I like Mondstadt a lot. Best region.

The 1000 Wind Wine ties into the event's themes of togetherness, and Mond's themes of freedom, and the event definitely didn't harp on the history of it for too long, so I was actually totally fine with it. I quite like the concept - like the Windblume not really mattering in the end. Mond has a general sense of uh... looseness, but the vibe that two of Mond's traditions are now less about history and more about how you as an individual interpret them is pretty cool.

I really like Mondstadt's relationship with its Archon. The idea that worshipping Barbatos is offering him a drink, but also that everyone is relaxed enough to slink off to the bar so they can get the best deal when he descends from the heavens... it all feels very warm and relaxed. The love Mondstadt has for Barbatos feels very real, and I adore how Venti always tries to pay it back - even/especially when he can't do much.

Even though we don't know Razor very well, I really enjoyed his story and how it ended! I know I complain about Lore and History a lot, but it was handled very well here. Razor's desire to learn about his parents and everyone coming together to help him, him making friends and acknowledging that the time he spent during the festival was equally as important as what he set out to find... it was very sweet.

It was nice to finally see Diona. I found her kind of charming, and I liked finally seeing her with Draff.

I enjoyed running the stall - the gameplay itself was ehhhh, whatever, but the visits from our friends were really nice. Mondstadt's sense of community is gorgeous. Barbara, Eula and Albedo (especially Eula) have grown on me. Bennett and Klee teaming up and Klee trying to adopt Razor on Alice's behalf was cute.

I also really liked Rosaria! I wasn't too big on her in either Dragonspine or her debut in Windblume, but she's definitely gotten stronger since then. I think focusing on her relationships with Varka and Razor did her a lot of good.

I REALLY loved Hamperquest. I tried to guess who wrote each note and was delighted to find that I guessed the correct character more often than not, even with the NPCs. I barely remember any NPCs from the other countries, but Mond's have really stuck with me. Kaeya was a lazy POS.

Mika is cute, but disappointed with what we got. I liked hearing from Varka, even if he did talk about the Fatui a lot. I was surprised that Mika didn't get involved in the event more, though. I kept expecting him to show up to help Razor and we'd get to know him through that (or he might meet up with Eula), but it didn't happen, so his implementation was pretty clumsy imo.

I was also hoping that Jean would have a larger role. I like Jean and would like to see her as Acting Grandmaster more often. I liked Lisa a lot in this event - I'm usually pretty :I on her, but it turns out that making characters talk to each other and have relationships outside the Traveller does wonders for making you like them! She and Razor were adorable.

Diluc and Kaeya continue to be a very awkward two-man comedy act. I keep getting more confused about the state of their relationship the more time goes on. Like, I'm glad they're reconciling, but man, I seriously thought things were worse. I guess they just don't know how to communicate anymore. That said, it was nice to finally see Diluc reaching out - usually it's Kaeya and is "woe-is-me, diluc-doesn't-love-me-:(" routine and we didn't know where Diluc stood, so it's nice to finally get that clarity.

Diluc's dialogue about wondering if Crepus would be PROUD OF THE PERSON I AM TODAY... ACTUALLY, GROWING PAST MY FATHER'S DEATH HELPED ME MATURE AS A PERSON.... buddy a) Crepus was shady as shit, you're fine and b) if you think you've gotten over your father's death, I got real bad news for you. God, just. Mondstadt has the most interesting hanging storylines HYV does nothing with. GIVE ME THE DADLORE

uhh anyway yeah i liked it! the writing was a bit clumsy in places but overall a great experience. hated the boar minigame though. reminded me of legends arceus but so, so, so much worse. they should've brought back hide and seek, that was fun.

"Psst."

14th time. That was the 14th time he tried to get your attention. And now he was repeatedly poking your back. Annoyance bubbled up in you and you waited for the teacher to look away before turning back to hiss at him, "What?"

He grinned and waved a hand. "I'm bored."

"I know."

"Then chat with me or something."

"Am I... what's the word?" Your voice dripped with sarcasm. "Your special court jester or something? Am I just here to entertain you?"

He shrugged. "Yeah, sure, why not?"

Okay, you kind of walked into that one. You just said, "At least pay me or something," before turning around. Next thing you knew, you felt something poking your shoulder, but it definitely wasn't a finger. You turned back to look and see James practically shoving his wallet in your face.

"Don't give me that look, you said you wanted money."

If it weren't for being in class and causing collateral damage, you would be swinging him into the next room.

While he kept his grin, you kept your annoyed expression on and faced forward again.

Then, a blessing came. For a moment, you finally found peace.

For a moment.

You paused your writing as soon as you felt James's finger poke your back again--except this time it didn't move away. It was like he was keeping you in suspense so naturally, you tensed up, wondering what he was about to do. Immediately you regretted that though because the simple swipe of his finger on your back made you flinch from surprise.

The teacher gave you a confused look. With warm cheeks, you plastered on a smile and tried to wave her off, mouthing, "Sorry!" Her eyes still held concern but she continued class. Unfortunately, she was still facing the students so you didn't want to risk turning back to yell at James.

He took the chance to mess with you more, and you shivered again when he slid his finger up. You swore you could hear him snickering.

"This bastard..."

You struggled to sit still from how weirdly ticklish the feeling was, to the point you had to grab onto the side of your desk for support. Internally swearing up a storm, you slowly began to realize he was writing something on your back. You tried to concentrate to see if you could figure it out but focusing on the tracing of his finger only made the ticklish feeling more intense.

"Any questions?" The teacher looked around the classroom to see students shaking their heads and then finally she turned around.

Relief washed over you and you jerked your head back to glare at your currently very annoying friend.

He was still pointing a finger at you. And he still had that stupid grin.

"Stop that!"

"Stop what?"

You shook a fist at him. "When we're out of here, I'm gonna knock you out."

James moved his hand back to rest his chin on his palm, propping up his head. "Oh yeah? Try me."

"Just you wait." That was your warning before you told yourself that would be the last time you'd turn back and faced forward once again.

"Hey, aren't you curious about what I wrote?"

You ignored him. He made a low whistle. Whether it was in disappointment or not didn't really matter to you. Nonetheless, he continued to bother you but because you didn't give him any more attention, he became slightly less annoying.

When the teacher finished her lecture and announced it was independent work time, you took in a deep breath and looked back at James.

His grin was finally wiped off, instead replaced with his usual stoic look. He was doodling on a corner of his notebook.

"James."

He looked up at you and the tiniest smirk made its way onto his lips. "What?"

"Sit here." You pointed at the empty seat next to you. "I don't trust you sitting behind me anymore."

He merely shrugged before standing up and doing as you asked. "You want me to poke your shoulder instead or something?"

"Go ahead. You won't get away with annoying me if you don't have me to hide behind."

"Ahh, so that's how it is. Okay." He leaned back on his chair, arms crossed behind his head. His eyes glanced around at the other students, either working diligently or chatting with friends. "You know we're still sitting in the back of the classroom, right? A quiet little corner, all on our own?"

You squinted your eyes at him, not appreciating how amused he sounded. "Yeah?"

He chuckled. "Alright. Keep that in mind."

Whatever that meant, you weren't really sure, but for whatever reason it made your heartbeat speed up a little, and not in a way you'd like to admit. You just bit the inside of your cheek in frustration and tried to ignore it by going back to your schoolwork. You didn't have to think too much about it though because James was quick to bother you again. Not that that was a good thing, either.

"Very funny," you said nonchalantly as he poked your shoulder. You didn't make any reaction to him sliding his finger in little motions. "That won't work anymore, you know."

"Aw, really? How about..." He scooted a little closer to you with his chair. You paid him no mind. "Here?"

His hand being placed on your thigh nearly made you yelp. "James!" You were hissing again, looking at him with very warm cheeks.

Tilting his head, he smirked and slid his hand up to your knee before only having his index finger be present as it tapped on your knee. Despite the mischievous look on his face, it was somehow unreadable.

You gulped, nervousness running through your veins. With the current situation, that might as well have been what your heart was quickly pumping out instead of blood.

"Wanna make a deal?" Aggressive silence from you did little to deter him from whatever evil plan he had in mind. "I'll stop bothering you if you win."

What a lovely deal. If only it wasn't coming from him.

"Pinkie promise." He lifted his hand from your knee to hold up said finger. His smirk was anything but sincere.

Should you trust him? Absolutely not, but at this point your feelings were getting the best of you so you irrationally agreed. After locking pinkies with him and pulling apart, you tried to convince yourself James was an asshole, but at least he never broke a promise. Right?

"Okay. Here's the deal." His hand dropped back down to your thigh and you felt a jump in your heart beat. Despite your nerves, you couldn't get yourself to move away. Did you even want to...? "I'm going to write what I wrote on your back again, and if you guess correctly, I'll stop bothering you. Sound good?"

"...Fine," you replied through gritted teeth.

He hummed happily at your agreement and did the same movement as he did before with his hand. You were doing your best to ignore the warmth rushing throughout you as he did so. Still, you could feel yourself shaking a little again but it wasn't from a funny ticklish feeling, oh no, it was from a place deep inside your mind where you'd rather eat a prickly cactus before admitting it to James of all people.

Butterflies fluttered in your stomach when the tracing along your thigh began. You murmured the letters under your breath, "I... L... O... V..." Your voice shook alongside your slightly shivering body and as he was beginning to write the next letter, you stopped your letter listing to say, "Hey, you're moving awfully close to--"

He did not stop, however. His finger only inched closer inwards with every letter.

With the temperature of your face rivaling the sun and your heart dangerously close to exploding, you yelled out, "JAMES!"

Your friend's movements finally stopped, and so did the class as nearly every head turned to look at the both of you.

Panic settled in you as the class went silent. You glanced over at James to see he had already removed his hand from your thigh and had that stupidly perfect stoic face back on, compared to your embarrassed, frustrated expression.

"Do you... need a moment?" Your teacher looked concerned again and this time you put on the shittiest fake smile ever.

"No. Sorry." You bowed your head.

"Is James bothering you?" She spoke as if it was a mandatory thing to ask and didn't believe it one bit; of course, who would ever think the respectable #1 student of the entire school would be such a pest?

"No," you repeated. "I'm sorry, again."

"It's okay."

Slowly, everyone in the class went back to their own business. Meanwhile you were screaming internally and James was... ugh, smirking.

You huffed and scooted away from him as far as you could. You also subconsciously pressed your legs together, as if that would protect you from James's wandering hand. The fact you could still feel the little warmth of his finger tracing your thigh just filled you with shame.

No way were you going to feel like that about your best friend.

Class continued as usual and you were trying to calm yourself down. Still, you couldn't stop thinking about James and after the stunt he pulled, his presence next to you was overbearing even with the small distance.

You snapped out of fistfighting your thoughts when you noticed James pass you a note while he was looking down, like he was trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. You frowned but eyed the paper anyways.

"Promise I'll stop teasing you now, I just wanted to do that one last thing. Did you guess what I wrote, by the way?"

You grumbled as you grabbed the paper and scribbled back a response.

"No. All I got was you saying you love something."

James managed to look like he was busy at work even as you handed the note back after writing his reply.

"So close! I wrote 'I love you.'" He drew a winky face at the end and seeing it just made you crumple up the paper. When you tossed the mini paperball at his head, he laughed quietly and turned to give you... a genuinely innocent smile?

Your stomach churned and you looked away before his natural charms got to you.

"I'm sick of this guy." You weren't.

Thoughts on the sawsbuck evolution?

I'm a big fan of winter deerling and sawsbuck with its fluffy legs <3

Deerling is pretty simple, but I do like the design quite a bit. The specific shape of the colored areas combined with the lovely gold accents just looks really pleasing to the eye. I also like the spots (appropriate for a fawn) and the cream-colored base.

With that said though, the face does bug me. It has that kind of generic nondescript muzzle and sideways mouth that always bother me. Pokemon don't have to be anatomically correct all the time obviously, but something a little closer to a proper muzzle would've worked better, especially when the evolution has one. (The legs are also a little wonky, but that's not quite as bothersome as the face.)

In terms of the seasonal forms: First, I should mention how crappy it is that we never get the other non-spring forms due to the season mechanic being scrapped. Why not correlate the forms to the user's season instead of in-game seasons? Or even better, why not just have different forms appear in different climates? Winter in snowy, icy climates, Spring in rainy climates, Summer in general climates, and Autumn in cold-but-not-freezing climates. Or hell, just introduce items to change the forms, I don't care, just bring them back; they're really the main concept of the entire line and it doesn't work nearly as well without them.

Anyway, with that said, Deerling's different forms are just kind of recolors, and while they all look fine, I do find the difference between it and Sawsbuck to be jarring. Why does Deerling not change its design but changes colors, while Sawsbuck changes its design but not its base color? Some consistency would've been nice. I also kind of feel like you could've just not introduced the season thing until Sawsbuck, seeing as Deerling doesn't do too much with it. Still, like I said, all of them look nice. Summer's probably my least favorite--I would've preferred a less saturated forest green--while autumn and winter are tied for my favorites.

I was today years old when I learned that Sawsbuck is S.A.W.S.buck, IE Spring, Autumn, Winter, and Summer.

Anyway, as a whole, I do like these guys fine; the markings still look very nice (though I do question the spots. Wasn't the idea of spots on Deerling because its a fawn?) and the seasons are implemented and distinctive. Part of me wonders if they should've kept the different base colors of Deerling to differentiate them even more, but part of me also likes the subtle brown.

Between all of them, summer is once again my least fav. Aside from some seemingly random choices (why is it the only one to not have chest fluff? Why is it the only one to have its tail going up? Why the fur on the back of the head?), the green is once again a bit too intense for my tastes and clashes with the brown when it comes to the back spots, and the leafy antlers are a bit much and distract from the actual deer.

Autumn form has a similar problem with the antlers, but at least the colors are nicer on that one and the overall design is better. However, I do wish the color was more orange-y to match Deerling and to keep it from looking so similar to the spring form. Speaking of which, I also feel like those two look too similar; the colors are close, and the bodies are near-identical except for the antlers. Summer form's changes may be random, but they at least make the design a bit more unique.

Spring is looks pretty good, but only having a few small flowers on the antlers feels a hair understated. Feels like they could've worked more of them into the chest fur, in place of the spots, or around the legs. This would've helped with the aforementioned issue of it looking a bit too similar to the autumn design.

Winter, meanwhile, is probably my fav. I really like the contrast of the white and how nicely it compliments the brown and yellow, but I also like how it's actually adapted to the season it represents, with a full-on winter coat.

Also, as a final note: while normal/grass makes sense, I do question if these guys could've gotten away with different typings, just for fun. Grass/water for spring (it's wet out), normal/grass stays for summer, grass/ghost for autumn (spook season), and grass/ice for winter. Might've added a little extra something.

Overall, these are some pretty nicely-designed deer with a simple but unique gimmick that really needs to make a comeback. As a whole, I'd say the summer forms are my least favorite, while the winter ones are my favorite.

“Tetsuro! Kotaro! I’m so sorry!” You sob as loud as you can. You hated it in this closet, it was dark and cramped. Your neck hurt, and your wrist hurt both being bound. Around your neck as a collar with a very short chain that was chained to a closet pipe. And around your wrists are handcuffs that are also attached to the same closet pipe.

You cry out once again, hoping that maybe your captors would take pity on you. They were normally so sweet to you but after your little escape attempt, they weren’t so sweet. Although when they put you in the closet, you don’t even know how long ago, you could see flickers or guilt in both of their eyes.

You feel like it’s been days, even though you know it’s probably only been a few hours that you’ve been locked in here. Your sobs quiet down again, this time just silently crying to yourself.

You don’t know when Kotaro and Tetsuro are going to let you out. You even have thoughts that they won’t let you out.

Maybe you messed up so bad that they hate you now. Maybe they’re just going to leave you in here forever. Maybe they forgot you. So many thoughts like that run through your mind until you hear the click of the lock from the door.

You look up and through tears you can see the blurry silhouettes of both Tetsuro and Kotaro standing over you. “It’s ok, kitty, we’re here now” Tetsuro knelt down next you gently petting your head. You lean into his touch, stray tears still falling down your face. Your voice hurts from how hard you've been crying so you don’t even say anything to them.

“We’re so sorry, baby, are you alright?” Kotaro asks, feeling totally guilty about locking you up but he knows that him and Tetsuro needed to punish you. Tetsuro felt guilty as well but he tried not to show it as much. Both of them hated hearing you crying and seeing how upset you are.

Kotaro unlocks up chain on the collar and then unlocks the handcuffs, not expecting you to practically throw yourself at both of them.

Tetsuro is able to catch you in his arms, you just grabbing onto him and trying to reach out for Kotaro too.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I’ll never do it again” you sob, burying your face into Tetsuro’s chest and holding onto both men as tightly as you can. “Shh, you’re ok now, we’ve got you” Tetsuro comforts, Kotaro almost in tears at your words and actions.

He’s always been emotional and seeing you so sad and clinging onto both of them had Kotaro on the verge of tears. But he knew you needed to be punished.

“I’ll never try to leave ever again” you whisper, still sobbing and hiccuping through your words.

This is something I've been asking myself, but can you tell me everything the brothers Carla and Shin did wrong throughout all the games in and out of their routes? I've been wondering about this recently, sorry if this is sudden to ask...

Hi anon, while I do know quite a lot of Carla and Shin's routes off the top of my head, I'm not quite as good with all of the other Dark Fate routes and there are still routes in CL I haven't played that I don't really want to spoil for myself if I can avoid it. In order to do what you're asking, I'd basically have to go through every single DF and CL route and double check their LE routes (which admittedly I know a little too well but I do generally like to double check things). To my memory Lunatic Parade doesn't contain them doing anything particularly bad aside from Shin picking on some of the guys but if you were to do a really thorough job it wouldn't hurt to check those too.

I'm afraid that is a monumental amount of work that I'm really not willing to commit to for the sake of a single ask, especially as what I qualify as bad enough to make the list might not necessarily be the same as you or someone else. If you genuinely want to know all of the things Carla and Shin have done, then honestly I would suggest you read their routes for yourself as all of the DF routes have been very kindly translated by @dialovers-translations (who has put an incredible amount of work into her blog over the years) and their LE routes have also been translated and you can find links to them on @vampirerosemary's incredibly useful masterlists.

Now if you're asking this because you're not particularly comfortable with dark content and want to know whether to avoid DF or not, I'm afraid I would honestly suggest just not engaging with any of the main games and instead focusing on the bonus drama CDs and Lunatic Parade which is much more fluffy. I know some will say you shouldn't ignore the darker aspects of the series but at the end of the day, it's just fiction and looking out for your own well-being matters more than berating yourself for not engaging with all of the content.

On the other hand, if you're asking this just to measure how "bad" Carla and Shin are compared to the other guys, I'll cut to the chase. Literally all of the diaboys are problematic in one way or another (and even Yui can be in some of the bad endings) so I honestly don't think trying to find a "least bad" is really all that meaningful, especially as you may consider certain actions to be far worse than someone else (for example I actually found Shuu's HDB route to be way more off-putting than Laito's, which as far as I can tell, is a very uncommon opinion).

I have said before that I think out of all of the boys, Azusa is the least malicious but even then he's hardly a saint.

However, I don't think there's any use in feeling guilty about fangirling over the diaboys even though they've all done bad things. I think if you're mature enough to properly engage with some of the themes that feature in DL, then you should be able to distinguish reality and fiction. As long as you understand that irl you should run for the hills from anyone who acts like the boys, there's nothing wrong with having fantasies with dark elements if that's what you enjoy.

Another thing I want to just say while I have the chance that I saw mentioned many years ago but seems to have been forgotten about is this idea of choice. So, in game, particularly the early games, Yui does not have a chance to consent to what the boys do to her, and if you look at it from that perspective, DL is pretty much entirely a horror story (it's one of the reasons why I don't particularly enjoy writing Yui x diaboy scenarios versus reader x diaboy material).

However, the thing you have to take into account is that you, either through listening to the CDs, or playing the games, or reading the translations are effectively giving your consent to keep the scenario going and see what happens. At any point, you have the ability to take out your headphones, or turn off your console or stop reading, make up some ending in your head and never think about the series again. At the end of the day, the person in charge isn't the boys, or Yui, or even Karl, it's you.

Now I know some people prefer to view the player as being completely passive (i.e. Yui is her own character and we're just helplessly watching her story), but the fact of the matter is that in the games, that straight up isn't true, our decisions control the ending. And like I said, if anything comes up that makes you uncomfortable, you can just stop playing, and I would recommend you do at that point, especially if you're not too clear on what your own limits are when it comes to consumption of dark material.

Anyway what I am trying to get at here? Basically, the reason why you can enjoy DL as a dark fantasy is because at any point, you can disengage from it. If you find yourself reading DL and just getting upset about bad things happening to Yui, it's not that those feelings aren't valid, but honestly you are far better off taking a step back, maybe writing her a happy ending yourself if you enjoy writing, and then leaving it be. Please do not read things that only upset you, life is too short to inflict misery on yourself.

Anyway I'm sorry this isn't what you asked for anon, but hopefully it has at least been some use to you.

I've finally seen the full thing! My thoughts about Downton Abbey: The New Era under the cut!

I'm not sure if I liked it more or less than I liked the first one. With the first movie there was that sense of anticipation, when I had thought we'd never get more Downton and then we did and it was such a rush. This time I think there was less fanservice and less highly quotable scenes. There was the same fluffiness as there was the last time that keeps the movies and the tv series separate from each other in my mind. I don't mind it, though. I think the plot was better this time and the new characters were much more likable to me than in the first Downton movie. More about them later.

One of the blink-and-you-miss-it things that I loved was that Edith's and Bertie's son is called Peter after Bertie's cousin. I found that so wonderful.

Okay but Edith in general! I'm not very good at hiding the fact that she is my least favourite character in Downton, but I really liked her in this movie. I liked her interactions with Mary and was very happy to see she is writing again. Good for her!

I saw the movie with my mother and she can't stop talking about how glad she is that Mary seems so ready to have a divorce. I'm inclined to agree. I also thought Barber was nice. I'm not sure if they had undeniable chemistry or anything but he was nice.

Tom Branson has died. RIP. No but seriously, there was nothing recognizable about him, he and Lucy were this boring young couple and Maud Bagshaw (why did we need her in this movie again? I'll take this back if someone really wanted her in the movie but I just don't understand) literally congratulated him for being a leopard who has changed his spots. Sigh.

But we got some children! We were able to see them! There were some cute moments, like Sybbie still calling Robert "Donk". I still think it would have been better if they had a plot and more lines on their own, the actors are old enough to handle it. I know JF has said he can't write children, but you know, Lord Jules, it is okay to ask for help with your script. Also I'm upset my brotp Thomas+children has been forgotten, he looked at Sybbie once and that was it. Luckily I know him personally and he told me he will write to them from the States regularly and visit them when he's in England.

Speaking of Thomas, I really liked the scene between him and Mrs Hughes after Thomas had read Richard's letter, as I thought I would. At least one of my brotp's is still doing good. Mind that I wouldn't have liked this scene as much if it had happened in the context of a different story. I wouldn't have liked Thomas being told by a straight person how hard and lonely his life will be unless he gets very lucky... But the scene was truly saved by Thomas defying that expectation by finding someone in the same movie. Very good. Also I'm always here for Thomas being called brave.

Thomas and Guy Dexter had such a great chemistry, they made me so happy. I loved the way Guy flirted with Thomas, he was both kind and cheeky at the same time, just what he needs. There was no kiss or anything like that, and maybe that's okay, you really got the feeling that the job offer can truly mean as much or as little as Thomas wants. I personally choose to believe that they ran towards each other and snogged after Thomas handed in his notice, their smiles truly looked like that. And while I'm not sure the passage of time was made very clear throughout the movie, I think that with them you really got the vibe that they got more comfortable with each other during the month.

So I really liked Guy and I liked Barber, but of all the new characters Myrna Dalgleish was my baby. I think her arc was very manageable for a movie like this one, simple but nice. And I don't know, she felt like a Downton character to me, and that was very good. I also really liked how Daisy and Anna (and Albert) fangirled over her.

Speaking of Anna, I know many people didn't like how the movie separated Anna/Bates, Molesley/Baxter and Hughes/Carson to different locations but I quite liked it. Especially with Anna and Bates I think the two of them often feel more like one entity than two different people, and I liked seeing them apart as well as together.

And yes, Molesley/Baxter proposal was very cute and fitting for the two of them.

I haven't been too keen on the thought of Mrs Patmore and Mr Mason together, because back in season six it felt very pair-the-spares to me and I couldn't quite get behind the ship. However, I didn't mind them in this movie and Patmore was a delight as she usually is.

Please let Andy be a farmer, he doesn't want to be a butler.

After all the remarks Violet has made about how superior the English are to people from other countries, the two men she has apparently found attractive are French and Russian. Fancy that.

Violet and Isobel... I will never forget them... This is truly Isobel Crawley widow era...

It was very nice to see Clarkson and Rosamund. They did delight me. But guess who really, really delighted me?

I was not aware Denker was going to be in the movie and let me tell you, when I saw her, I was so so happy. She was very sad and worried about Violet through the movie, so she was not quite herself, but I was glad to see her anyway after her outrageous absence from the last movie. I hope Spratt is doing well (Hey Mary guess who would probably rather be the butler than the guy who wants to be a farmer??).

I can not believe Thomas Barrow got an honest to God marriage proposal... What a time to be alive!
